Cookies and tracking
What this site stores in your browser, what it sends anywhere else, and how to change your mind. Written to be read rather than to be survived.
The short version
- This site sets no cookies of its own. The few things it remembers — your privacy choice, which pop-ups you have already seen, an anonymous id used to stop the same house ad repeating — are kept in your browser’s local storage on this device and are not cookies.
- Advertising tracking is off until you allow it. No advertising script is loaded, and no request is made to an advertising company, before you press a button on the banner.
- We count visitors without identifying anyone. Plausible, our analytics, sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and builds no profile of you. It runs whatever you choose, and we would rather say that than let you assume otherwise.
- You can change your mind at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page.
Strictly necessary
Always on, and not something you can switch off here — the first item in the list is the record of your own choice, and forgetting it would mean asking you again on every page.

Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to know how many people read a story and which pages are worth writing more of. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, does not track you between websites, and produces counts rather than profiles. Because there is nothing on your device and nobody is identified, it needs no consent and keeps running if you decline everything — we would rather tell you that plainly than quietly count you under a switch that reads “off”.
Turning analytics off in your settings signals analytics_storage: denied to any future analytics tool that reads consent, so the choice is honoured in advance.
Marketing
Nothing is running in this category right now. No advertising pixel is configured on this site, so allowing marketing today loads nothing at all.
When Collector Nation starts advertising, an advertising pixel will be switched on. It will still load only for readers who have allowed marketing, and this page will name the company receiving the data on the same day it starts — this section is generated from the site’s own configuration, not written by hand, so it cannot fall out of date.
What it will do when it is on: record that a browser visited a page here, so that Collector Nation advertisements can later be shown to that browser on the advertising company’s own services, and so we can tell whether those advertisements led anywhere. Under California law that counts as “sharing” personal information, which is why there is a Do Not Sell or Share page.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Open Cookie settings in the footer of any page. You can switch a category off, or reject everything, at any time and as often as you like.
One honest limit: a script a browser has already run cannot be recalled. If you turn marketing off on a page where it had already loaded, it stops from your next page onward rather than instantly. Nothing new is sent in the meantime.
Your choice is stored in this browser on this device, so it needs setting once per browser. We hold no account for you on this site and therefore have no way to carry it across.
Other embedded services
Video and audio on this site are served by Mux, our player and hosting provider, and page content is delivered from Supabase storage. Both are contacted only when a page actually contains media, both are acting on our instructions, and neither is used for advertising.
