PSA updated its on-site grading options at the 2026 National Sports Collectors Convention, which ran July 29 through August 2 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The changes affected what collectors could submit and at what service levels while on the show floor. Days later, Beckett announced it was joining PSA in pausing lower-cost grading services, a move that follows PSA's earlier decision in May 2026 to pause its Value tier grading.

This is not a minor operational tweak. PSA's Value pause in May already removed the most affordable submission path for the majority of hobbyists, and Beckett matching that move means budget-tier grading is now effectively off the table at both major companies simultaneously. For collectors who rely on economical grading to make lower-value cards worth submitting, the math on what is worth sending in has changed. The National is the hobby's biggest annual gathering, so any friction at PSA's on-site booth gets amplified across the community fast.
