Now back to your show Foreign. Welcome to another episode of Hobby Nonsense. I am your boy, sports boy. And I am gathered around by solar around. There's more than one of me would just gather. You've been rolling around on that chair around me. I hate this new chair. I know. We might, maybe we have to. It looks good, but it's not comfortable whatsoever. It's not ergonomic. I wish I could post the photo of the other day with your shorts that were like, for whatever reason, right up in the chair. These shorts that are very flexible. We'll just say that they, they tend to write up on him and it's a very funny look from the back end. Welcome to the show. How's everybody? How are you? Thigh meat. Oh, God, that's. That's my best quality in, in body part on me. The tree trunk. That's like your abdomen. What? No, it's your legs, your tree trunks. Couple of tree. Okay, all right, whatever. The point of the matter is, we are back with a brand new episode and today's episode is going to be fun because we have got Jason Mashra, president of Upper Deck, joining. We'll be throwing to him here probably in the next 20, 30 minutes. And that is actually really exciting because there's some cool news that they're going to be breaking on the show today. And that's it. I'm not going to. I can't spoil it anymore from there. It'll be fun. Until then, we're going to give them a little more than that. It's, it's some new partnerships, some new partnerships with Upper Deck. If you're a millennial, if you're a Gen X. Yu-Gi-Oh You grew up with some of these IPs. I would, I'd argue that a lot of them have still been in their, their purview, their, I don't know, their entertainment bubble. Even at younger ages. You know, I feel like there's some of these things have lasted up until today. Well, I wore my Upper Deck hat today. Oh. In honor of Jason. I wonder if he know. Well, we are. Okay. I'm going to break the fourth wall like I always do. We already recorded it and I don't know if he noticed it. I feel bad. He'll know. He'll. He'll know. He'll know I'm going. More often we do the clips. I'm. I'm aware more often. I really like it. There is a weird world we're living in right now of non sport and I don't know what are your feelings about what you've been seeing right now, Ray? I feel like the last couple episodes I've been doing way more talking than you. I mean I typically do, but I feel like even more so. And I would like to hear more. Ray. Opinion. Well, I'm usually just, I'm out of it. I come straight to work and I'm like, what's going on? How did I get here? Am I on a podcast? Yu-Gi-Oh Do you find it interesting what's going on? I'll tell you why I'm asking you, but I'm just curious. Do you find like what's going on in the non sport card market? Interesting, fun, weird. I mean from someone that's in the Pokemon world, it's just about people finally noticing things that we've been screaming from the rooftops. I appreciate that. Yu-Gi-Oh It's like what is, what's so surprising? We've already screened us. And here's the thing too, because you have all the money that is coming in and I know we're talking about money again on this podcast, but you have the sports people coming into this non sports because that's where the money is currently and that's where you can make the most bang for your buck more. Most return on your investment. Yep, currently. Right. And especially if you were early. And it's not always like that in the sports side. The sports side, I think it's more like stock based determining on how well a certain athlete is doing, you know? Yu-Gi-Oh So I mean, is that fun? For some people it is. But you know the age old saying is that Jar Sword's never going to tear his ACL or. Yu-Gi-Oh Fair. Go to a massage parlor. Yu-Gi-Oh that's fair. Okay. Or do anything crazy. I think the idea that we are in this boom has now caused like when on the other pod the conversation came up where Mike was basically pointing out like, oh, this is a, a fad a bubble. And it's something that there's not enough warning about. And it could. It could be because in the non. Because it's right now, it's so early. We've never really seen it before. It's not as season as like a Pokemon or a sports world. Right. That's fair. Yu-Gi-Oh it could be. And right now it's kind of like, it's really easy to make money. It's kind of like foolproof because it's so new. You get in early. Mm. You're going to make a little bit of money as long it's going to be like a hockey stick. You're going to go all the way up and then it should level off and then go up again. That's something that is healthy. But if it just keeps going up and then it's going to pop. But I don't think it's going to pop. And you have to know. You and me know like the. In the ins and outs, right? Yep. We know, like, collect this because Disney 100 because it's the first Zebra Because it's the first. Like, there's certain things that we know enough to collect that you're going to make money off of. But there's people that are coming in that don't know, like, the ins and outs that are just buying because it's. They think it's going to make money. So know everybody else is talking about. Exactly. So they really don't know what to buy or who to buy or, you know, that's where things can get a little dangerous. I agree with that. And I think there's enough, like, I guess, new people coming into the space that we should probably give more, I guess, warning to that, like, to. To give people an idea of, hey, this is what's happening right now. You're seeing a huge increase in demand, but you're also seeing a huge influx of new people into the space for Disney. We've talked about it. It's not just the fact that it's the first, but it's also the scarcity of it. The low pop counts, the prints of those cards. But those aren't the only cards that are going up. I mean, you look at some of the records and I'm talking about not even 24 Chrome marvel. We talked about that, too. That one's been exploding. And by the way, there is a. Out of 5 miles morales that just sold for $17,500. It was a PSA9. I had that card. I can't. I cannot see the Serial number? No, I didn't have it. I didn't get it graded. But I pulled that card and I sold it for like 900 bucks and I am kicking myself a little bit. So, you know, just because we were calling out the non sports space for a while does not mean we made all the right choices. I've encouraged you to make these the right choices. And like, hold on. Yu-Gi-Oh but here's the thing about you. I do. Here's the thing about you. You have no. I don't have to hold on to. Exactly. You don't have to. I, I like I'm going to go ahead and get rid of it and then you have no, like what is it? Like personal, like attachment. Attachment to any of this stuff. Because it might, it could care. It, it doesn't really matter what's on the card. It's just like, okay, I got it for this, I can sell it for this and I'm good. I wouldn't say that I don't have any, but I would say it's harder for me because I do have some cards that I don't want to sell. But it I also the cards that are easy for me to hold onto and collect are the ones that are less valuable but more unique. Like I really like a unique card that does not resell for a few thousand dollars. Because then the part of my brain that's like, oh, I need to make money to, you know, put in savings or pay my bills, I need to go sell this card because I care more about my family's well being than I do any piece of paper. And so that there is that. But then the other part is like, well, if it doesn't have a huge value then I don't feel that need to go and move it. So then it's like, oh, well now I can hold on to it, but I don't want to hold on to it if it's something that I don't care as much about. So it's like you start find I for me personally, I find it where I am. I am narrowing down more and more the things that I personally want to keep and hold on to. Especially as someone who's like doing business in this space. Because if you didn't, do you know how many cards I would have right now? And like if I just had them and never looked at them or I only looked at them every once in a while, to me that's not that that's not fun collecting. I want to collect things that I can truly appreciate and Then show off and, or you know, have a connection to that is more than, of course, money and more than just hey, I have the entire set. So I say more power to the set collectors. But, but that's not, that's not who you are. That's not going to be my thing. Yu-Gi-Oh but I still think it's really cool when I see somebody who has the entire set of something or the entire rainbow of a certain card. So it's like there are, there are things that I still appreciate and like, but it's just not for me necessarily. And when we talk about like, hey, the, the non sports space is exploding right now. Should we give out like more warnings or more, I guess, due diligence instruction? I think that is not the worst idea out there. But at the same time, I'm not saying it because I think the market's going to crash or I'm not saying it because I think we are in a bubble. I'm saying it because we are. We have experienced a complete 180 in people's just not only awareness of it, but they're, they're, I guess they're like the, the ability to appreciate it because it used to be like, oh, no one cared. Like they saw it, they knew it, but they don't. They didn't like it. Now it's all oh, oh, other people like it. Oh, it's cool. Oh, and oh, it makes me money. Yu-Gi-Oh okay. Yu-Gi-Oh I like it. And that's where I do. I find that a little irritating. I don't think that people appreciate it as much as some people do. They only appreciate it for the price tag. Yes. And sad to say it, but that's what it is. Well, and I think there's some people who appreciated it, but then they weren't as vocal about it until the price tag. Until the price. I don't necessarily. I mean, isn't that like what, like that's society in general. Right? Well, like you like this one thing and you're like this weird kid in the corner that likes yes, Power Rangers. You're not going to get made Power Rangers. And then finally Power Rangers is popular and you're like, come in, come into school wearing a Red Ranger shirt and you're like what? I've always liked the Red Ranger. What are you talking about? Which, you know, that's such a great analogy because that is absolutely the case I think for a lot of people in this space where it's like, I've seen so many more social media accounts being opened recently. And people just showing off their collections and. Or promoting a product that they, they've believed in for a while, but they never did it before because they thought maybe the community wasn't there to, you know, reciprocate that love that they felt. And I think there's good reason for people holding back and I think there's plenty good reason for them going ahead and doing it now. So I, I am. I brought all this up just because it's like, I think that it's okay to put out a warning of like, hey, prices are really high on some stuff. We're seeing new records set. I mean, that 1931 Wills Mickey card, the Will Smith card, the 1931 Wills Mickey and Walt Disney card, PSA 9. It showed. I saw this post two years ago, August of 24, that sold for 37,000 and just this month sold for $122,000. But you know, some cards are undervalued. That card's undervalued. So I appreciate that because we were doing the ebay live auction last night, which if you guys have not already checked it out, ebay live Sunday nights. We just started it back again. Funkle is there. He's on the microphone talking to the crowd. We have got some of the promos, best Disney cards out there. We also have. We'll have some more non sport. But Walt Disney is as hot and there's so much demand for and he's got a lot of singles out there. It's just been a good opportunity to go ahead and list them up. But that being said, during that show, I believe he mentioned something about there's a market correction in non sport happening right now. And that doesn't mean a market correction down. He was actually referring to a market correction upward because for the longest time, these cards have been what we've all been saying for a long time is undervalued. And now we're finally seeing the people pay attention and notice, like, hey, we've been screaming that Disney IP is Zebra popular. Why wouldn't this have value? And yet no one wanted to pay that value. And it's Zebra short print. Why wouldn't you want to have one of these in your collection? Because there's so few of them. But nobody wanted to hold on to that card. But now they understand. And now I don't know if it took a few people all of a sudden paying more for something than that was actually worth or just an overall increase of card collectors into the hobby over the last couple months, but whatever it Is we are in the middle of it and we're experiencing what I would agree is a market correction upward in the non sports space. So yes. Like are we going to need to put out warnings with that? I think so. I think that's only fair because it's like maybe we see a correction, a recorrection downward because sometimes you can overcorrect. Right. Some things can go Zebra high and then come back down pendulum and then continue to rise from there. Which I that's honestly that's the healthiest thing that can happen. I'm hoping that happens because I think we're kind of seeing that with some of the 23 and 24 Disney to some extent right now. At least 23 where we've seen not a drop but a leveling off. And people aren't setting. Not every card is setting a brand new high every day which is. People are like oh that's a bad thing. No it's not. That's a completely normal and good thing. But at the same time, over time if that were to be the case or if it were to continue to go downward, we'd be more concerned. However, that's not what we're seeing. Right. So this is a healthy growth. In my opinion at this moment we have not seen anything just take a complete nosedive and we haven't seen anything be so dramatically pumped up to where it feels unbelievable. It just feels more of a market correction than a pump and dump on the upward scale. Yu-Gi-Oh But you know we talked about again market correction undervalued cards and some of the vintage cards. We talk about the Donra set. We talk about some of those vintage Disney Disney cards. Yep. Those did not ever need to be that cheap. Oh well, exactly. So it's like it just takes a couple of people to highlight the set the card or whatever. Yep. And talk about it like we do and I hate to say this but the talking heads, you know, the Gary Ve's of the world and just to bring spotlight to some of the cards, these cards that are undervalued. Yu-Gi-Oh To really appreciate and just it takes that one person to be like. And some people, they need you to tell them what to buy. Oh for sure. And it's so weird. Well, and I say for sure like that because being that I was just at the national and I was at a booth where they did have a lot of non sport cards and you saw there was a couple guys just standing there looking at the cards and they were talking to them the behind the booth and the questions were coming up like, you know, I, I want to get into the non sports space, but I'm really not sure where to start. Those are the people that they want the advice. They want to know what card they should go after. And wouldn't you know, There was a 1966 Batman sitting right there. And I was like, dude, this one, get. This is one of the cards that you need for your collection. If you are a serious non sport buyer. This is one that a lot of those guys have because it is vintage, it is Batman. It's an IP that people love and it is iconic. It has a classic look to it. So I think, like to your point, yes, people not only need it, but they want it. They want to be told because if they didn't, they would go out there and they'd buy, you know, some 1975 Batman printing of a set that maybe it looks cool or maybe, you know, it's nice and maybe that's great. All they cared about was a cool looking Batman card. More power to them, Let them go out and get it. But if they're looking for like an investable piece, which is what we're seeing a lot of people starting to chase after, that's where they may need more advice. And that's why I think some of those talking heads are worth it. Yu-Gi-Oh Including us. I just feel like sometimes these people can. They're a little lazy. They don't want to do the work. They want you to tell them what to do. And if you, if you want to be a lazy person and you want us to tell us what to do. Want us to tell you what to do, you can subscribe to our Patreon and I, which I will tell you. Which does not exist currently. No as of this moment. But I will tell you what to buy for a short fee of 99.9amonth. That's for the raid tier. That's a lot. That better be a good investment. Hey. Hey. Well, he Ray promises to pump and dump whatever card he promotes. Well, you know, I got some great information here talking about pump and dumping. Well, hang on. Before we get into that, well, I got some Pokemon stuff that I want to talk about that I've talked about in the past. Yu-Gi-Oh That I told you guys that you needed to pick up. And then I have the receipts before and I got receipts now. So if you want to, if you want, if you want the good stuff, you got to listen. You got to listen here. You got to listen. Some people, you got to sell the Sizzle and not the steak. That's fair. That's fair. And I mean I will say going back and checking your track record, I think you actually have been right a lot of the times. And fortunately it hasn't hurt that the Pokemon market has been also going up consistently as well. And right now it's down. But some cards are up. If you want to check my receipts, you can go to all my, my, all my social media accounts. Yes. And see back in 20, 2016 some of the cards that I pick up and you can see what the, the rates are now. Wait, you were talking about this on like on your personal channel, on your personal account? I've been, I've been on this train back in 2016. I like that. That's cool. We check the receipts. We should take some of that. Like was it over on the Flippers channel or something? Yu-Gi-Oh And I've even, Even on our YouTube, even on our YouTube I've did some market watch videos and some of the promo cards or some of the cards that you need to pick up that I did. Check the receipts. I'm telling you, check the receipts. This is what we need to do. We need to have Shane clip this up to where it's like we're. You're about back in 2016 and then you, in the meantime you go find a video where you talked about something on that. The Nashville Flippers channel. I know that I specifically remember on our channel. Hobby nonsense. I did the best promos to pick up. Sure. One of. Or the best Charizards to pick up. One of them was a, A promo. They call it the Godzilla promo out of the Charizard UPC that I told you guys to pick up. I think at the time it was like a $20 card, dude. A PSA. It's like a. I don't know how much but it's, it's a nice. It's. We just got no detail about it, but no detail. I don't have it on top of my head, but that's fire, you know. But that's a car that I told you guys to pick up and now you can see the price difference and so long as over $20. We know that you were positive. You're right. 2199, 22. One of the things before we moved on about non sport today is something that I've been, I guess with the idea of hey putting out warnings and it's not always necessarily like everything's perfect in the non sport world because nothing ever is. But one thing I started Thinking about was the future of what we are dealing with right now. We have some really cool cards coming out with Upper Deck which we'll talk more about there. But this kind of leans more into what Topps is doing just because of the fact that there is such a high value attached to a lot of the cards that they're putting out. And I say this because I want that to continue. I want new sets to continue to hold a place in new collectors hearts where hey, not only is it really cool, but I have to have that so bad I'm willing to pay X amount of dollars for it. And hopefully that continues to go up over time. That's how we've seen the card market in general over the last number of decades. But what worries me about the non sports side of things is the artwork that we are being that's depicted on the card. The artwork that's depicted on the card is very often the same artwork in a different style. Right. Like it's not necessarily the exact same illustration. Right. Like I think Mickey across the different Topps Chrome has been a different version of Mickey. So it's like, okay, that's great. At least we've changed up like the version an animated or a more modern versus a more vintage Mickey style. That's. That's awesome. But what happens when we run out of versions of Mickey to print? Right. And it does feel very copy and paste and to some degree it does. And this isn't even so much on the Disney side. This is really more on the Star wars side. So Star wars has Topps Chrome Star wars coming out here in the next few weeks. I believe this week we're going to see the presale start. I think it's either tomorrow or Wednesday. And so we'll have that product coming out very soon. But Star wars cards have been printed. Among the non sport cards. Star Wars IP has been printed some of the most amount of times. Right. There's the most amount of sets for that. Especially as far as Topps is concerned for what they've been putting out. There is a point where we get to diminishing returns. Yes. Where it's like, oh, I have to have that PadMe one of one. PadMe is a very popular character among Star wars collectors. But when you have a Padme one of one in many sets in one year, let alone two years, let alone the last decade, it's like, oh, there's quite a few of those 101s out there. I'll do one where it's like A really cool scene. And if you take out Galaxy, which galaxy is really cool, but if you take that out, it's like a lot of those are just. It's Natalie Portman and she is in her costume as Padme. And that's it, you know, that's, that's, that's the card. And there's not like anything else going on other than maybe like some circles in the background or some squiggly lines, you know, depicting a cool look. And it's not just put those looks down. Those are cool. Like they've done a good enough job to where they've brought more people back. Every year there's more and more people buying these cards. So, you know, kudos to Topps design team. But I think we are close to a limit, at least on the Star wars side. Which means if we're on the limit on the Star wars side, it should be affecting every non sport that they're putting out. We are getting to that point where people don't necessarily want just the picture of the actor or actress. They want to see new unique designs, new unique depictions or scenes that they're in. And I, for one, I think I'm one of them. Like, I'm getting to that point where it's like you're getting burned out. It's not even burnt out because like when a set comes out, I'm excited for it and I think it's fun. But what I am finding is I am losing interest quicker. Yes. And I think that is true for a lot of people. They are starting to. They get excited when a new set comes out and they, they see a new design of a Darth Maul Ray park as Darth Maul and it's like, okay, cool. But then they realize like, oh, isn't this like one that they used like a few years back? Or it's very similar to maybe one like a couple sets ago. And then all of a sudden it feels less special. And I think that is something that Pokemon has done so well, which is keep characters fresh. Now, granted, they've been adding in new characters, so that's a lot easier than the movie and TV genres. You can't just add in characters that weren't there. Now, granted, the fact that you have animated series, that's helped. And I think there was a time where there was even Star wars comic characters that were added in to some older sets at least. And that's nice. But I think if nothing else, the artwork depicting them in different scenes, that has added to the desire to continue to collect Pokemon. And I think if there was a way to do that in these fields, in the cinematic universe that Topps has to take from to create these cards, that would be something that could help the current collector, not the new one, because the new one doesn't know any different. Right. But the current collector to continue to want to collect. Yu-Gi-Oh They'll feel that burnout. They'll feel that fatigue after if they keep. You want them to stay in. Right. And that's the thing. 20. If 2026, Star wars feels and looks and exactly the same as 2025 and 2024. Yu-Gi-Oh Then why would I collect a new set? But I Goldin agree more. And that's where it's like. And there are people that are still doing it. Right. Because it's. Even though they have. Collectors are not always like a collector because they like the art. Well, that. That is a part of the reason why they're collecting. But they also collect because it's just something in them. They need to have all of them. There's like a. I don't feel fulfilled until I have that other one to finish my set. Call it ocd, Call it ocd, you know, whatever you want to call it. But it is. There is something built into where, yes, there will be collectors no matter what. However, the way you can't just rely on, oh, this person has a. I don't want to call it brain disorder, because I would generally say I have a little bit of OCD in certain ways. But it is something where I want people to want to collect this, whether they are a person who has to have a complete set of something, or just the fan of Star wars, because that's where we want to get. We want. Where the fans of the ip, the fans of Disney, the fans of Marvel, the fans of Star wars, or anything else that they start putting out. We want it where they can continue to collect this and not have to think, oh, I'm collecting this because I have to, not because I really like it. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I felt like this for a little bit now, the exact feeling that you feel, because I've seen it with other collectibles, the most recent would be Funko Pop. Right. They do so much when they put out, you know, like, a Star wars funko pop, and they make a Funko Pop for the guy in the scene that was maybe there like a split second, you know. Yu-Gi-Oh So it's like you have this fatigue, and we don't want that to happen in the card market. So you Say, how do we fix it? Yu-Gi-Oh the way that you fix it is something that WW WWE does well with their cards and just their company in general. They have. They've already. They're thinking of everything they need to do beforehand. Okay. So every pay per view, every time they go on tv, they take all these pictures and autographs and all this stuff even before they go out. Oh, four specific reasons for merch toys or marketing or whatever. Yu-Gi-Oh So each, you know, ring gear that they wear, it's like, oh, that's Seth Rollins when he was in the hell in the cell ring gear. So it's like that's. We put that on a card and they already have specific digital images of him with that ring gear that they can use for other things. So going forward, these IPs need to do something similar with that. But I don't think they're even thinking about that when they were making some of the Star wars and stuff. So, like, any new Star wars thing that comes out, you know, the new Starfighter movie. Yu-Gi-Oh I think that these new Star Wars IPs that we're talking about Star wars, they need to make specific images, set up specific scenes that they can use for marketing purposes, for trading cards, for toys, for collectibles that they can just use for that and have that already ready to go. Ready to go. Yu-Gi-Oh I agree with you. And I think that's something that the, the. I think I mentioned this after the TOPS conference because I found out, like, oh, Disney has people now that are working together with tops, like, they've got their own card people. And I'm hoping that those messages continue to be disseminated over to them because I'm sure there's people that do it. But obviously if they have been doing it, they're not getting the pictures or the images or whatever we need over at TOPS to be able to create the cards. That would give us enough differentiation, at least not yet. But we also haven't had any new movies other than the Mandalorian. We haven't even had a set for the Mandalorian as of yet. So maybe that's already happening and we will start seeing this trickling in as we see more sets now. It's a totally different story when it comes to animated sets. Right. And that's where the differentiation comes, where Star wars is very much driven by the real actors and actresses versus the animated Marvel characters and the Disney characters. Now, obviously we know that there's real life Marvel characters and there's real life Disney characters as well. But historically, those have not done as well in card sales like the Marvel Studios product. I mean, it sold out, I'm sure, like Topps, whatever allocation that they put out there, I know it sold out. I got all I could. But they just haven't maintained the same kind of value in a lot of ways that the non sport, non comic versions. Yu-Gi-Oh The fictional or drawn images have done. So I think that you have a lot more flexibility on those sides of things. And that's one of the good things when it comes to Disney, at least. All right, Disney, you're working with Tops. You are. You have people that are in charge of, you know, making sure the cards are. The characters are depicted in a way that is in line with your standards and your ideas and. And that's great. Now let's come up with some completely new ideas, some completely new designs in vein of like Lorcana even, like, I know we've talked about that a lot lately, but what they do as far as the artwork goes, there's a reason why there's a lot of that. Like a separate lore. Exactly. Not even like images. It's a whole different thing. Well, and we're seeing like the comics of. We just talked about, like the Star Wars Marvel crossover comic book, and obviously the fact that Disney owns all these IPs allows for things like that to happen. Why don't we see more of that in the card space? And why don't we see more of it, like, hey, here's next year's Disney Chrome is not just the characters, but they are a character from a specific scene in a movie or a TV show that they were in, you know, like, not just like a bubble background or whatever the case may be. Like, I'm gonna tell you tops, and I love you because I love the products that you guys have been doing. And you have a lot of good ideas. The bubble background from last. From this year, and then the one last year with like the wavy things, I don't think it's doing it for a lot of people. I didn't like the wavy. I like the bubble than the. Better than the wavy. But this. This one has been my favorite. 20. He's holding up 24 Chrome cards. That's the thing. 2024 has been my favorite. But they're all the same. They're all kind of the same, but it's at least a cleaner look. And that's why people love the 25 or the 24 7. The 100 is my favorite, though. Well, and that obviously is. I Think the favorite for a lot of people. But it's also. That is a clean look too. There's something to be said about like hey, if you're not going to depict them in the scene that they're in, give them like a nice clean. I don't think, I don't think the depicting in the scene that they're in is going to be a thing unless it's an insert or a completely different product that they can cash in to make. You know what I mean? Maybe, but because it's like why would they need to. Why would we do it if we can just make another, another set? I think call it like a Star Wars Galaxy. That's fine. I mean, you know what if you don't want to do it in Chrome, fine. I think there is something to be said that that would be a cool at least if not a full set. But inserts, okay, fine. But if you want to do a Galaxy type product for Disney and Marvel, well, and they, there's supposedly that's still something coming soon. Is the Marvel all original art set. I can't remember the name. Insane. Well, it's, it's been talked about. It's. It is something that they have already said will be coming but at this point we're not sure when. And the idea is okay, well if they're going to do that with Marvel, I think you definitely have to do it with Disney. And we are seeing an explosion in the space. I am just a simple promoter of non sport cards because I think it's a much, it's a. I'm not going to say it's better than sports. I almost did. But I am saying I think it's a much more all inclusive collectible than some others just because of the number of fans of that IP that are out there in the world today. Not just here in the states, not just fans of the game, but I think just the overall amount of people that have been touched by a movie or TV show or a song or whatever it may be where they have included that in the past. So now I want to see the non sport card continue to thrive. And I think the way to do that is by making maybe some of these adjustments because I just worry if we can maintain if we continue to do the exact same thing each year. What do you think the new set like the new Disney set? Like we got the bubble this year. What do you think next year? Yu-Gi-Oh let's just predict next year's Disney Chrome. Well, it one-of-one be bubbles and it one-of-one be the. Honestly, it looked like. What's the thing in Endgame? Marvel in game. The Avengers movie, obviously. Why? Oh, it's like the thing that Tony Starkin came up with a concept for. No, it was the thing where it was like. Basically it was the reason why they could travel back in time. I can't remember what the name of it is, but that's what it looked like. It just looked like a Mobius wheel. Moby as well. Got it. Yu-Gi-Oh But that's kind of what it looked like. It just like some circle racetrack in the background, essentially. So now that we've established what they look like, what's a future one gonna look like? I think it'll be a little more organic, like the bubbles. Maybe like you're wearing a nice little Hawaiian shirt. Maybe more leafy or something like that. I don't know. Okay, I can see some leafy. Leafy green. I would love leafy green, but just more of a. Like, more. I don't know, more wavy. I'm more like organic geometric. I would like something more simplistic for Chrome. I think the answer is you can still do something, whatever you want to do there. But, like, we were just talking about how you really appreciate the 24 chrome look, the clean background. I'm curtains, so. That is so funny you said that. That's exactly what I was thinking of was like a theater type set, like where they're up on stage or something like that. Like the Muppets. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh okay, sure. But I think something to that vein would probably be more appealing to the collectors you already have and even to new collectors than, you know, let's. Let's do a fun mid-90s Windows screensaver background. What if they all look like the Trapper Keepers that we had? Oh, like that 90s style. Hang on now. Some of those were dope. All right, Maybe we brought some of that back. Maybe we bring that in. I don't know. All right, well, you know, let's take a break from this whole non sport soapbox spiel of how we're right and everybody who said non sports is wrong is. Is not good. Let's jump over to our interview, because I really think that's something that I'm excited. A lot of people are going to be excited to hear about. So Jason Mashera of Upper Deck, we're going to jump over to him right now. And here we are with Jason Mashra, president of Upper Deck. Jason, how the heck are you, man? Good. Glad to be back. I only got A drive by at the National. I know. And that was not on purpose. I apologize. Did not realize that there was a whole thing going on at the same time. But I am glad that we made this work. How is everything since the National? You know, it's actually nice to kind of be through all the conference season and be back in the office and actually getting some work done. So I'm happy, happy to be through everything. I agree. And since you've been back in the office, we were just commenting off air, you guys have looks like a brand new studio space as well. I really like. I'm digging the outfit of the non sport over on the table. You got some hockey up on the cards or on the shelves. What's everything on behind you like over your right shoulder? So we've got. Let's see, my right shoulder would be entertainment trading cards. So you've got the entertainment trading cards, you've got the games and then you've got the sports cards. Oh, those are the games down there. Oh, okay. Okay. Very cool. Well, of course, the Enemies of Gotham City coming out here soon. We were talking about that here not too long ago. That sounds like a really, like a, I don't know, Settlers of Catan esque game. I don't know, I'm excited to actually give it a try. Is this like you guys leaning into more tcg, but you've always been doing the DC and then Marvel before that. Are you guys leaning more and more into like this non sports space? Well, we've been, I would say, the leader in the entertainment space for quite some time. I mean, the interesting part is entertainment goes all the way back to 1990 here. And we may have talked about that before with Comic Ball, with the mashup of Looney Tunes and some of our sports athletes. But I think one of the things that's a little more new starting around 2012, is we really started to get into tabletop games and board games. So we have a history of TCGS that dates back to 99, but we've really accelerated on the board games and the tabletop games. And Enemies of Gotham is a just massive, immersive tabletop board game with miniatures that really reflect that Batman Animated series. It's impressive. Just when you grab the box, it's sturdy. So let me ask you this. With Enemies of Gotham specifically, that is a board game, but obviously Upper Deck is known for trading cards, I think almost foremost before anything else. Is there any kind of like tie in to the collectible space with this board game as well? No. So, you know, the collectible piece is the Batman animated trading card series that we put out earlier in the year. This is just a straight up board game, so I wouldn't say there's anything collectible to it, although there are a ton of miniature pieces in there. So if you kind of nerd out for miniature pieces and even if you're not interested in the game, there's some pretty cool miniature pieces that you can put and display and collect, but you get everything you need in one box. And that, I think, is the biggest thing that separates the board game piece of what we do. Oh, okay. Very cool. Well, I'm not going to tease it much longer because we kind of already alluded to this earlier in the episode of you were coming on for a special reason. There's some news that is coming out very shortly. Can you tell us what the news is with Upper Deck? So we're really excited. We're announcing our new license with Hasbro. So we'll be putting out trading cards actually starting next month or here in a week with Transformers will be the first product that we put a trading card set out for. That is very exciting news. When we saw that this is one of the reasons why you wanted to come on, I was very pumped to be able to talk to you about this. Because obviously Transformers has been a thing in the cultural space for a number of years as far as the movies, TV shows, and things like that. And some probably may remember, like years past, we've had some different Transformer sets throughout the years. What is going to set this one apart? So we've got two sets that will be coming out before the end of the year. So the first one, I would say is kind of a teaser. It coincides with the re release of the movie. If you guys aren't familiar, the movie is actually going to be re released in theaters next month. Oh, I didn't know that. Yu-Gi-Oh Zebra cool. It's part of Hasbro's doing an apology tour for all of us that were scarred with a death death of Optimus prime in the movie when we were kids. Okay, gotcha. So they're basically relaunching the movie in movie theaters the middle of September. We are doing kind of a small box set that's exclusively available at Target. Gonna be very similar to the Space Jam box set that we released earlier this year at Target, where you get 10 character cards. There's one insert per box, one parallel. And then in the Space Jam set, you were chasing Michael Jordan autographs. What's really cool here is you're actually going to be chasing autographs from Optimus prime or the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, who's kind of a legend in the space. That is actually really cool. The voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen. Has he been signing in any other card set in the past? Is this the first time? You know, I don't know, Jesse. That's a great question. I haven't kind of looked on whether he signed before. He still gets a lot of requests for signatures. I know he signs comic books and, you know, other collectibles. Well, that's my thinking. It was like, I think he's done things in the past where he'll do individual signings, but I think, like, this may be. I. And I could be wrong, but I thought this could be the first pack pulled Optimus prime auto, which is pretty exciting to think about. As far as, like, you said, this is. You said Hasbro, right? Did you already. You said this. Okay. I just want to make sure I'm not, like, leaking anything else. The fact that you are partnering with Hasbro and part of that is Transformers. What other sets could we look forward to? Because obviously Hasbro has a lot of different ip. Before we get into that, I do have a question about the Transformer set that's coming out, Jason. Now, are we, like, these cards? Are we looking. You said Hasbro, but you also mentioned the movie. But are we doing animated cards? Are we doing cards that are the toys like the Michael Bay version? Are we doing. Yu-Gi-Oh Are we doing the. The film? What. What kind of. What are the. The actual property that the Transformers cards are going to look like? So that's a good question. So the first. The first set is this. I would call it a micro set that's releasing at Target next month. The end of the year, we'll have a what I would call a full hobby set, which is the 40th anniversary of the movie. So it'll be the animated movie that will be a full animated set like you would expect out of a hobby release. And that's going to be FLIR branded. So think 80s, because it's an 80s movie. So think of FLIR inspired designs from the 80s and a full hobby release with multiple signers of multiple voice talent from the movie. And then going into next year, we're going to focus on probably gen 1 first before we start getting into some of the other properties. But you'll see a variety of different Transformer products and versions throughout the years as we move forward with Hasbro. Oh, okay, cool. So this is a long term relationship that you guys have worked out. Yu-Gi-Oh And to answer your question, Jesse, what else can we expect? So you're going to see a variety of Transformers trading Card sets from us. Then we're also going to be diving into properties like GI Joe, Power Rangers and GEM and the holograms. And then my favorite as a kid was Mask. For those who remember Mask. Those are some of the properties that are at the top of our list that we have in our product plan right now. And is it. Do you guys basically have the ability to produce sets based on any Hasbro license product or are those just the ones that you specifically have already worked out an agreement on? Well, we've got a variety of different IP from them. Those are the ones that we're going to focus on the most and then look like anything else as, as we go. Depending on how successful we are, hopefully they'll continue to expand what we can. Because Hasbro's library of intellectual property is amazing. Exactly. Well, and that's kind of what my thinking was like. I kind of looked through, just briefly, a few other IPs that they own and seeing like, you know, they do Peppa Pig stuff, I don't, which, I don't know exactly the connection there. So I, I don't know if you have to do additional licensing there, but you know, just the idea of like kids cards for Peppa Pig, that would be, I think, a fun, you know, fun introductory to not only cards, but just a fun thing for them to experience in, in the collectible space. And then obviously there, there's, I'm seeing like Monopoly cards. I mean, I don't know what you would do as far as a Monopoly card game, but the fact that they're making movies out of like, I, I keep seeing movies being made out of these different IPs from Hasbro and Mattel, it's like, well, what Goldin they turn a card set into as well? Yu-Gi-Oh look, I think we want to take the, the most popular properties right now and get those right. You know, Transformers is a huge opportunity and I know Dynamite's done a couple of sets or last couple years. They have their own style of doing them. Being able to take our brands and apply our product team to Transformers, I think will give everybody a different experience than what those guys have done with their two sets. And then to get to products like GI Joe and Power Rangers. Power Rangers is seeing an amazing renaissance right now. Like, like, you know, it was, I would say, a little after My time. But the people who love Power Rangers, like, really love Power Rangers, and they haven't had a. 30 years, right? Like, it's been 30 years. And again, what's really cool is when you go back in the. The archive. Well, who worked on Power Rangers back in the 90s? Well, it was Fleer, was it really? I didn't realize. Yes. So we can have a lot of fun with. With those properties and kind of hearken back and do some anniversaries and things of that nature. So, you know, those. Plus Ma. The other fun one when you talk about our childhoods is Gem. And the holograms is another fun one that's in the product plan right now. It's really to hearken back to what we all loved as kids and make sure we do those right before we expand to too many other, you know, intellectual property pieces. I can appreciate that, you know, because it's like, I feel like sometimes we. We get the cart before the horse, and it's like, let's just. We can do it, so we should do it, as opposed to. Let's maybe perfect a thing first and then see where we go from there. And I'm glad you mentioned the thing about the Dynamite sets, because I had just seen, hey, isn't there a new Transformer set coming out? And then when I saw this, I was like, oh, well, that must have been it. It was the Upper Deck set. So I wasn't sure, like, how does that work going forward? Does that mean, like, Dynamite will also be making Transformers cards and you guys will, too? Or is that, like, maybe the end of their run and now you guys are going to take over from here? Well, I can't speak to their contract. I know Hasbro is very invested in what we're doing, and I believe the set that's coming out is, you know, and I could be wrong, but it's a Chromium version of the set that they've already done. So it's just kind of a repeat. I don't know of any other sets coming out, but again, I can't speak to their contract. I'm focused on what we can do. And what we do is make really cool entertainment products. Goldin agree more with that. And, I mean, just the simple fact of what you guys have been doing with the Batman series and the recent months has been a testament to what you guys put together. I will say, of all of the people that we have had on the show over the last couple years, I think the. And I feel bad because I always. I'm forgetting his name. But the gentleman who's come on the last couple times to talk about Batman has been one of the most requested guests to come back whenever there's, like, a new big Batman set. Because his excitement and level of knowledge of what is in there and just the passion behind it, the creation of it, has caused so many, many others to be like, oh, I had no intention of buying any of these Batman cards until I heard more about it, and now I am just as pumped as ever. Can you get him back for the next release? So I. You guys definitely know what you're doing. And I will say personally, from like, the. The. Is it Dark matter, the matte black one, I believe the one of the inserts in one of those earlier Batman sets. And then there's a couple other, like, really the designs, not just. I feel like it's the collector focus that you guys put into these cards that I appreciate the most, because it is something beyond what we see maybe in some other releases out there where it feels like this is not so much geared toward, hey, this is going to be the most valuable copy in the world, but this is going to be much better Yu-Gi-Oh appeal and much more appreciated in a lot of ways. Yu-Gi-Oh look, I think there's two things there, Jesse. I think what we saw with Warner Brothers in D.C. is there hadn't been a sustained card presence in close to 30 years. We see the same thing with Transformers and Power Rangers and GI Joe is there really hasn't been cards of these properties forever. And then when we bring them back, we. We want to create excitement with collectors and people who love the property. It's not about what's the biggest flip here or the. The one of one to make sure that it hits a big auction price. It's how do I get. Get people excited to collect sets or chase an insert set. And I think what our team does a really good job both on the sports and entertainment side, is coming up with unique designs, you know, different die cuts, different sets and brands to keep people engaged. It's not kind of the same thing over and over again. Our team has been killing it over the last year of really making sure that every set we come out with is distinctive, has really cool inserts, and has differentiation from the other sets so that everybody can find something that they're very passionate about. I wanted to go back to. You mentioned the GI Joe, and we didn't really touch on that as much, but we really should because there's a lot of fandom Around GI Joe, right? Like, not just like the action figures in the TV show, but they also made the movies. And I just was watching an interview the other day with Danny McBride talking about he is in the works of creating another new G.I. joe movie movie as we speak. So it's like this isn't just something like a forgotten childhood memory. This is stuff that is nostalgic and is something today very relevant. Well, I think the biggest opportunity here is for you to open a case of our first GI Joe product with your friend Logan Paul. Because I know he loves GI Joe. You know what? I do have his rep's number. Maybe this is the time where we make our official comeback, bring him in on the studio and we rip some boxes. I think that'd be a lot of fun, honestly. We'll just make sure the case, everybody knows it's a GI Joe case. Don't try to disguise it as a Pokemon case. Go on him. That's a deep cut right there. That's a nice deep cut. A nice reversal. I like that. Actually, that would be kind of very funny. We like, hey, we lure him in with a first edition Pokemon box and psych. We have got even better. We've got GI Joe cards in there. So no, that's a funny idea. I am very curious. What are you excited about that Upper Deck is working on right now other than this? Because, I mean, this is. Or maybe this is it, because this is like the big thing that's the big news. But there's one other thing I'm thinking of. I just want to see if we're on the same page. Well, I think the big release that's on the horizon is DC Platinum, which is our biggest chromium stock DC set. And the beautiful part about Platinum, so we put out a Marvel Platinum a few years ago is there's a lot of original art. So it's kind of split 5050 between publishing art and comic book art and original art. It'll be the first time the DC comic books have gotten the chromium stock treatment with a lot of original art, artist autographs, lots of fun parallels. That's probably the one in the near term I'm most excited about. And then we've got Metal Universe Space Jam coming out here in a few months, which is going to be absolutely incredible. And then right behind that is our Upper Deck flagship, Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone. So over the next few months, you are going to see just a really cool array of different products for different partners and licenses that we work with. That we're very excited about. You named one of the one. Well, actually two of the Batman. And then I wasn't thinking about the Space Jam one, but then also the Harry Potter one. There are several people who've been asking, like, do we know when the Harry Potter set's coming out? Do you have any idea of when that set might be coming? You know, it's a hard set to get out the door. The group that handles Harry Potter really dives in on the approvals and all the designs and everything. So it's taken a little bit. Our target is around. Holiday right now is kind of where we're expecting, but honestly, it's hard to gauge because the licensor is so engaged and so into the development of the set that it's taking a little bit longer than we anticipated. What I will give you, Jesse, is we did do kind of an unannounced preview with our friends and Tim Hortons. They did a, like a test set in the province of Saskatchewan. So we actually sold some packs of basically a preview of that set that's coming out later this fall or winter. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I had no idea. How did I not hear about that? You don't live in Saskatchewan. Yu-Gi-Oh I, I guess I need to pay more attention to our Canadian neighbors. But that is, I mean, that's exciting for a lot of people. I know there's going to be a huge fandom that is ravenous for those, especially as we've seen such a boom in the non sport world recently. Now, I actually want to talk to you about your thoughts about what's going on in the non sports space. But before we do, I did want to clarify though. Even though we talked about DC Platinum and we talked about the Space Jam and we talked about Harry Potter, none of those were the actual set that I was thinking of. The set that I was thinking of that's coming out very soon is the 2026 Upper Deck feline Collection. And I would just need to know in a week he's been on this feline collection. I talk about it every chance I get because I already have a case secured. It will be coming to me. I will be ripping this with. Well, actually, I did promise that we would do a break, but I already. I'm getting Maine Coon. That's my spot. But I am curious what made you guys want to put something like this together? And, and I like, what are your expectations for? Because I actually do think it's going to be a fun set, but it's just like a Cat case is probably a different thing than a lot of people were thinking you guys would put out. Yu-Gi-Oh look, it's a fun product, right? And to me, it's a very family friendly product. We did. It was an EPAC exclusive about six, seven years ago. We did a set called the Canine Collection. Oh, you know, it was never released in hobby stores, mass retail. And I actually think that was a big mistake because I think it would sell pretty well. Now. It was a bit of an experiment. A lot of the content was digital. And, you know, what we found was people actually wanted the physical cards. So we wanted to kind of return to that thought process and we said, hey, we've done the canine collection. Maybe we should do the feline collection as well. And let's make it right this time. Let's make sure that there's a hobby version and a retail version as well as an EPAC version as well, and maybe some cats versus dogs content, because that's fun as well. But Yu-Gi-Oh again, I think we've gotten this hobby, has gotten into this mentality of everything needs to have a million dollar card. Everything has to be about the big dollar. The reality is all of us started in this hobby for fun and to have fun and to be able to share it with other people. So a product like the Feline Collection isn't about anybody trying to get rich. It's about just having fun and being able to have some fun with your kids or your wife or your friends. And if you've got that card of a cat that you like, great, great. If you want laser cats, fantastic. If you want famous cats, great. It's, it's really a product just to have fun, I think. Well, and that's. You hit the nail on the head for me as far as, like, this is a product that is not meant to be like, oh, oh, I'm gonna break it. So I'm gonna make a lot of money on it, or I'm gonna go buy that because I'm gonna collect the set and I'm gonna auction it off one day. This to me is just like a, hey, can we not just still have fun with cards? Like, just enjoy the simple fact that something like this is in here where you've got like, like these cat memes and like you said, laser cats, where cats are shooting lasers from their eyes. And it's just like, I, I think the general idea of it is let's enjoy what this hobby is supposed to do, which is bring people together with common interests. And there's how many Cat lovers are out there now. Granted, as a dog guy, you know, it's hard for me not to say I wish there was also a dog physical product as well, but, you know, hopefully down the line. But either way, I think this is something that hopefully gets back to our roots. And it kind of goes back to what I said earlier as far as, you know, Upper Deck really being focused on the collector first. And that is why I think this product is going to be, you know, I don't know if it'll be, like, the biggest financial success of Upper Deck history. However, I do think there's still going to be a lot of fandom around it just because it brings something that people probably weren't expecting. So I'll give you the inside scoop, Jesse, since you're such a big fan of this product, is the release date is a little bit TBD because we are struggling to get the paw print cards back from the cats. So we want to make sure we don't have redemptions. We want to make sure those cards go in the product live. So we need to perform. Yu-Gi-Oh look, you know, it's not just a human thing. I'm telling you, you wouldn't have this ordeal with dogs. I'm gonna. I'm just gonna be the one to say it, all right? Not that I don't love a cat. I'm just putting it out there. But. And I'm sorry, Ray. I know I've talked a lot, so if you have anything, feel free to jump in. I have a lot of. I don't think. I think we're kind of glossing over how big this Hasbro deal is. And I think we need to talk about how actually big with so many niche collectors, from Transformers to GI Joe to Power Rangers to Mask, like Jason was saying, this is a really big deal, not only for Gen X, to millennials that have grown up with these IPS and these cartoons and these toys. Right. That was the game plan for a lot of these toy manufacturers in the beginning. Release a cartoon and then release the toys, and that was kind of like the game plan. But as a Millennial myself, seeing Power Rangers become trading cards, again, to me, that's a really big deal. And for Jason, I have a just a question for you, because, you know, Power Rangers is just not the Mighty Morphin Power rangers. There's like 20 different iterations of Power Rangers. Yu-Gi-Oh And so, again, to kind of the question I was. I was asking before, what. What are the cards going to look like? Are we just going to have the Power Rangers in the helmets or we're going to have the. The bad guys. Are we going to have, you know, the action scenes, all the zords, the actors that represent some of these? Are we just doing the American version of Power Rangers? Are we doing Zebra Sentai? There's a lot I can get really deep in the weeds with Power Rangers. So, Yu-Gi-Oh Are we starring, starting with Mighty Morphin, Are we doing like, like Space Turbo, Zeo? This guy. What are we doing? I didn't realize you knew that much about Power Rangers. All right, like, you've seen my Power Ranger collection and we can get deep in the weeds. You know, like when the Red Ranger wore the Green Rangers shield for the episode, you know, like, all that stuff is like Zebra dear to my heart. And then just maybe having some of the actual actors representing, you know, the Power Rangers that they played. And which ones are you, like, what are the cards going to look like, Jason? I mean, look, Ray, I don't stand on your level when it comes to Power Rangers. Like I said, I'm a Mosaic. You know, we've got some very dedicated staff just like you that are like, Zebra into Power Rangers. My expectations, based on the couple conversations I've had with the product team, is it's going to be early. The first. At least the first couple sets are going to be the early Mighty Morphin kind of the. The initial couple seasons. It is all the American version. I don't believe we have rights to the Japanese versions at this point, but there's plenty of content to pull from. I think the biggest thing is being able to get some autographs, some hard signed autographs into this product and really do it justice the way that the fans expect. And I think one of the other things the team is doing is going back and reviewing the sets from the 90s to see what we was good, what was bad, you know, what can we improve upon? And. And, you know, is there anything we can kind of hearken back or, or celebrate that. That people really love from those 90s sets? I will say I. It is like a travesty that Green Rangers passed, you know, David. Yu-Gi-Oh but. But the fact that we will still have, you know, I think a majority of the rest of the cast, especially from the first and second seasons like that, that was like the ones that I grew up with even more so. I mean, when they changed the Red Ranger, I don't remember what season that was, but I remember thinking like, oh, they can do that. You can just do that in tv, you're allowed to just change this person out. Like, it felt like a betrayal almost. But then I grew to love the new Red Ranger, too. I don't know. I appreciate that there is a, you know, again, this is the idea of, hey, let's bring something to the collector that they care about. And this is the. We live in an economy and in a collectible society at this moment that is all about non sport trading cards. So. And that kind of like, transitions that conversation to like, what are your thoughts seeing what we're seeing in the boom of non sports right now? Well, look, again, we. I would say we're pretty ahead of the curve. You know, we've been doing a variety of the entertainment trading cards, you know, for 36 years now. And, and especially since I've been involved, you know, we've tried to expand and hit a lot of content that hadn't had cards before or had had a period where they didn't have them. We've done everything from, you know, Alien to X Files to Firefly. We've done Silent Bob, you know, Clerks. We. We've hit a lot of those areas. I think for us, we've been waiting for the market to kind of catch up with us. And we saw the beginning of that during COVID when the Marvel stuff for us started getting scorching hot. But it, it seemed to kind of begin and stop there. That was kind of the. The one that really caught fire. I think what we're finally seeing, Jesse, is, is that people's view has broadened to say, hey, there's all these other properties that either have trading cards now or had them in the, you know, 2010s or the 2000s or the 90s or the 80s or the 60s. Like, as after you expand your view, you go, Yu-Gi-Oh this is pretty cool. Like, just about anything I love probably has a trading card set. Or if it doesn't, hopefully the manufacturers are working on something. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I think you'd be probably hard pressed to find something that is in the zeitgeist of pop culture that doesn't have a card set that was produced early 90s to probably early 2000s. I feel like almost everything did, but it is almost like a fun exercise to try and figure out what else could we put out there and what could we revamp and retool to bring to today's market? Because obviously, nostalgia is one of the things, the key drivers of the card hobby in general. So to think like, oh, well, the TV shows that I grew up with, those could have new cards coming out. I think it's a really fun thing because back then, we didn't have serialized cards. We didn't have autograph cards most of the time. Granted, you guys were some of the first to do it, but it's still. This brings something to the table that I think is going to satisfy a lot of collectors right now, which is giving them a piece of that childhood in a more modern way that most card collectors are more used to getting, which is, like I said, that those rarity additions to the cards. Well, look, I think the properties we're talking about are right in the wheelhouse of people our age now getting stuff from their childhood. Right? You're talking Transformers, which. There are a lot of employees that work here that cried when they saw Optimus prime die in that movie. You've got the Power Rangers, you've got GI Joe, you've got Mask. If you view out, it's been 20 years since Harry Potter's had a trading card set, which is crazy to think about. You see all the Harry Potter stuff. They're not, you know, Harry Potter hasn't had trading cards in 20 years. The stuff that we're doing on DC Space Jam, right, is 30 years old. So it's all in that sweet spot of the stuff that we loved as kids. And now we get to finally collect them or get a new collection to add on to whatever we collected when we were kids and those things were on the airwaves. Have you guys given any consideration as far as other IPs in the future to maybe leaning more into the video game space? Just because I know that, that, you know, we've seen some little sets here and there and maybe things that lasted, you know, a year or so. But, you know, I think about Nintendo in general, and like, Nintendo could be expanded into how many hundreds, if not thousands of sets in the future where it's like you've got the early video games on NES and then Zebra Nintendo, you got your 64, and then you've got all the different genres of games in general. I feel like there is a lot of opportunity there. But I can only imagine that that also comes with a price for licensing and things like that. So I wasn't sure if that's even something that you guys have looked into or considered. Well, Jesse, we're the. I would say the preeminent trading card manufacturer in the video game space. You know, we. Last year we put out a set for Halo, which celebrated the entire catalog of Halo, which is. Is probably the best Video game product we've ever done still is selling very well on EPAC and the collector community is very vibrant around there. We also did a Blizzard legacy collection around kind of the portfolio of Blizzard, including Warcraft StarCraft Diablo. We have new sets coming out for both of those licensors next year. So you'll see a new Halo set. You'll see new Blizzard sets coming out specifically around some individual ip. Blizzard IP is fantastic between World of Warcraft Diablo, Starcraft. I mean their library is pretty vast. We also did Downtown Wonderlands earlier this year. We actually have a product coming out probably winter time for Borderlands series of video games, which is exciting. And then we've got some other things coming down the line in the video game space. I agree, we're very excited about that. And then lastly what I would add on to that is we are starting or over the last several months we've been putting out esports product again around the competitors for League of Legends and you'll see a hobby product that is in process right now launching to celebrate those athletes that are playing League of Legends as well. Oh, very cool. We've got a ton of ton of content around video games in of what we've released and what's coming. Okay, well, I mean I and I knew of the Halo one and I had seen the thing about the Borderlands. I think it's like I'm glad to know that you guys are continuing to go down that path because I do think there's a whole world of other cards in the future. But I mean that that only is something for future talk because it's really exciting to think about what you guys are bringing to the table with this deal with Hasbro and to know like, oh, the things that I watch Saturday mornings or after school when I got home, like this stuff is going to be coming back in a new form and probably with some additional features, cooler artwork. I don't know. It's something that I wish was here today. I get that we'll have to wait a little bit longer. But you said Transformers specifically though we could expect that coming next month. Is that right? Right. Yu-Gi-Oh So the, the set at Target launches in September to coincide with the movie re release. So you can pick up a set, go see the movie and then you'll see the Fleer 40th anniversary movie product will be November, December in that time frame, just depending on how things roll out. So that'll be a full hobby retail release if you're excited about it. I guess the question really Is. Is, you know, do you guys have famous, you know, your favorite Transformers that you guys played with as kids? Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, it's hard not to say Optimus prime because, I mean, that's. I had the semi truck Optimus Prime. I mean, you got Bumblebee, you got Megatron, Starscream. I mean, there's so many of them. But I. For me, I didn't have all the other Legos. I wasn't rich like Ray was growing up, so I only had a few. But I cut a lot of yards. Jason, back in my. Back in my day to get these Transformers. That's fair. Fair. Can I ask Jason one more question? Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh Get out here. Sure. You. You brought up the trans. Like, let's just talk about the Transformer set real quick. You mentioned autographs from some of the voice actors. Can you mention any more voice actor autographs? Are we going to have sketches from some of the animators or comic book artists? Can you give us any more information on that? Yu-Gi-Oh I. What I will say is, I know what's confirmed is Optimus Prime, I believe Megatron, and I think it's Frank Welker is confirmed as well. Beyond that, I don't want to mention anything out of school, but there are quite a few autograph subjects. And these are real autographs. These are not facsimiles. These are like legit autographs that will be in these products. I wouldn't mind Affaximiliato. What would. I think that would be kind of cool. What do you think that would look like? I think that would be kind of cool if you. Yu-Gi-Oh something like that. If it's in there, you know, plus the. Plus the voice actors, I think it would be kind of. Yu-Gi-Oh do both. Yu-Gi-Oh that'd be cool. All right. I wouldn't mind it. Well, thank you for teasing and giving us a little bit more of what we can expect with this whole Hasbro collab that Upper Deck is involved in. And thank you for. For coming on the show to help break the news so we can share it with the rest of the community because obvious, the non sports space is going crazy right now. And just because, you know, there's a lot of talk about, you know, oh, this one set a new record sale or that. And it's not to say, you know, the Upper Deck, PMGs and things like that aren't setting records, but it's also nice to know like, hey, there's still fun and affordable product out there as well that you don't have to break the bank on to go get. So this is something that I think a lot of our listeners are going to appreciate. So thank you very much, Jason. No, I appreciate you having me on. These are the sets that we're coming out with and the stuff I've gotten a chance to come talk to you about are, are the properties that everybody asks me about. People have been asking me about Harry Potter forever. I've been getting asked about Transformers and GI Joe and Power Rangers forever. I've had to kind of keep my mouth shut. I'm excited to be able to finally come out and talk about it. And for products to be coming out relatively soon is Zebra exciting as well. Like nobody has to wait a long time. So it's an exciting opportunity to start releasing these products and get them out and see people actually be happy to be able to collect the things they been waiting so long to collect. I Goldin agree more. And that kind of goes in line with the new revamped hobby nonsense motto, collect what you love. I mean, right there. Did you do that on purpose, Jason? Did you know? Yu-Gi-Oh well, I was inspired by the new logo, so that's what it was. There you go. I knew it. I knew for Dex's motto is collect the best. Collect the best also, you know, right in line. I feel like it's a match made in heaven right there. Jason Mashra, president of Upper Deck, thank you so much for joining the show. We appreciate it, man. Appreciate you having me. Thanks, guys. Thanks. And we're back. There you go. Jason, as always, incredible guest to have on. Huge. You can tell, like, and I say this in the most complimentary way, huge nerd like us. Like, he loves the stuff that he talks about like this non sport. And I love the fact that like he's not like defensive, but he's like, what do you like video games? We've been doing video games. Let me tell you about that. And here's some other non sport products we've been. And we've been pioneering non sport for a long time. And it's like, you know, I didn't mean any. Exactly. I didn't mean anything by it. And I'm glad to know Blizzard's a huge company to get with. Well, those Halo cards are really popular actually, especially the first year set. Like they. I think they. That's one of those where, you know, we do have to talk about money because they are very valuable. So the Harry Potter sets coming out. I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, but I can appreciate like right now if you're a Harry Potter fan and you collect trading cards, now is the time for you to go back and buy Harry Potter trading cards. Like the old ones, the new ones, especially with this new TV show that's fixing to pop off. I think they've, I think They've signed on 10 different. 10 seasons. If I haven't, what really of the new Harry Potter show that's coming out and then that's just going to, again, put a spotlight on Harry Potter. People are going to go back. This generation, our generation grew up reading the Harry Potter books. I don't know if the Gen Alphas or the Gen Z's have, but that will probably put a spotlight on that. So people will go back and read the books. There'll probably be a little bit of a resurgence in Harry Potter because of the show and some of those Harry Potter cards. Cards. My increase in value, if I were to be a betting man, I would put. And I don't even know which Harry Potter cards I'm even talking about. But there's. Yes, here's the thing. I think you're right though. Like, I know for a fact, like some of the wand cards, the cards that have like some of the wands from the movies, and then there's the multiple auto cards. Like, they've already done decent numbers. But I think if there's something that still has a lot of room to run is Harry Potter cards. That being said, that I'm not really a Harry Potter guy. Like, I, I never, I mean, this is not something that I, I have currently kept up with or really know much about the, the IP because it's just not my wheelhouse. However, I do know from a strictly card value point of view, there's a lot of guys who have these cards that have been saying to themselves, why, why is this not already, you know, much, much more valuable than it is. And so those are the cards that I think in a lot of cases we're seeing go up in value right now. The ones that everybody has been saying for a long time, why is this not more valuable? And to your point, you can see it, you can see the, the attention and the overall popularity of the ip. So it makes sense to you, oh, this should go up in value. It makes sense. It's not a, it's. This isn't. We're not doing calculus here. This is one and one makes two type of math. If you, you think that there's a. Or if you know that the IP is very popular and you know that there's demand for the cards to some degree already, then more than likely it's just a matter of time. That's a matter of time. And you can look at some of the. Like the Harry Potter books, first print, second prints. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh And look at some of the numbers those are doing. And the majority of the people that like Harry Potter, they'll never get to own any of first print, second print. Sure. Yu-Gi-Oh absolutely. They can own a Harry Potter rookie card card. Oh, I like that. I like that idea. That's the one where he's dunking on Hermione. Speaking of buying things for your collection. This actually is not for my collection, but I did want to mention a buy that. Are we picking up some. Are we doing like a recent pickup section? Oh, do you have some recent pickups? I do. Do you really? I'd love to hear about yours. This is not a recent pickup in the sense of a personal PC purchase, but I bought the. I bought something for a break over the weekend. I bought two boxes of Disney 100. Yes, yes, yes. To do a break with. And here's the thing that I'm very curious of. I don't know if I. I think I may have priced some people out at this point or priced them out to the point where this may be more of a, hey, I'm gonna get in there to gamble. I'm not getting in there because I'm a card collector type of thing. Because I bought two boxes at $12,000 each. Two boxes of Disney 100. Okay, Disney 120, Topps Disney 100. I bought two of them over the weekend. I got them for 12,000 each. I probably overpaid. However, I did buy them and probably, I mean, I bought. Those are. I think they're record high. I honestly, I don't know if anyone has bought them at a higher price. I mean, they, they may have like one or two here and there, but at the same time, I felt pretty confident in the fact that I may be buying it at a high price. But I think they go up in value continually for the next number of years. I don't think, like, even though I think the card market in general may cool off in some places, or we may see a pullback in some places. Long term, it's going to be a good investment. I don't think things that are this rare will see many opportunities where you're going to see them go Downtown. Even if the overall market goes down, I think people will hold on to these knowing that they are so scarce and that there is so much demand. So that said, I bought these specifically to do breaks with right now. They are not cheap as far as the break spots go. Because I'm doing. I think the, the plan is generally I'm going to do two different breaks, one box each. And each box will have a hundred character. Because there's 100 base characters. It'll be 100 characters to buy. So 100 spots and it's priced at $199. So for those who are not as great at math, that it does come out to almost 20 grand. And I totally recognize that is a lot of money and I will make money on that break. The reason why it's coming out at that price is I don't think there's many out there who believe that that's not like in the next year or so a probably average, if not lower than average box price for that set. I think you are going to see a lot of these boxes continue to go up in price very similar to the Pokemon sets. I don't know if it's ever going to reach like, you know, multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars for a box. But I do think we are going to experience many multiples of 10,000 in the next year or two. And I am selling it at the price that I think I would be. I would be less regretful of selling in the future. So if that, if that makes sense. Basically just saying I'm selling at a price where I know I can at least say, well, I made money at it on at the time. But yes, in the future I will be regretting the fact that I did it, but I bought them specifically for the purpose of hey, I think this would be fun and it'd be good content to sell some break spots for one of the most popular sets in non sports right now. So there you go. If anybody is interested, I literally just before we started recording today, I put a price tag on it and it is listed on FX Live for this Friday. We'll see, we'll see how it goes. If, if spots don't move then and I'll take it down. We'll see maybe redoing it or maybe changing up platforms or whatever. But it's on Fanatics right now. There you go. What are your thoughts? You're. You're very quiet. You can be honest. Well, I just re. I just, you know. You said $199. Yep. Per spot. Yep. 100 characters. Yep. Most of them are pretty. They're. They're bangers. Right. And I don't I don't know too much. I don't know. I don't have a lot of information of what the current value on a lot of the cards are worth. Worth. So I just did a quick ebay search and I just looked up some non graded refractors of those characters. Oh, okay. Because each pack has a Refractor. Correct. I know it did. Refractor. I think it's a Refractor or numbered card or Refractor or insert, I guess. Okay, so if I were to be buying this from you for $200 and then you're randomizing the characters. Yu-Gi-Oh correct. Yu-Gi-Oh So I could be getting something, a banger. I can be getting a Goofy. I can be getting a Mickey. I can be getting a Minnie or one-of-one the Pooh. Something. Something that it's worth. Elsa. An Elsa. So just a bait. If, if I'm looking at this correctly, just a base Mickey just sold on eBay for 319. And that's not including a Refractor. That's not including. Oh, that's the non Refractor. Yu-Gi-Oh non Refractor version. Yu-Gi-Oh So that's great. You know, like a Miguel just sold for 139. That is an out of 299. A Refractor blue just sold for $70. So it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be tough sell because a lot of these characters in the refractors version, because it's kind of like you're not getting a base, but you're getting something that's better than a base. But not if you don't get a graded card, then you might be getting that. Right. So like, just an example, like this is a good one. one-of-one the Pooh Refractor 204. So it's like if I wanted one-of-one the Pooh, I could just go on ebay and buy it for 204. Sure. You know what I mean? So it's. Well, you are gambling essentially and you're hoping for a numbered card. 100%. Yu-Gi-Oh I've. I've actually started giving a little bit of thought and I, I don't think I'm going to change it at this point. But my only thought would be. Too soon right now. Yu-Gi-Oh exactly. I just listed it. But my only thought while we've been on here was what if I did it as a two boxer and do it at like, I don't know, like 350 or something like that. Like a spot where it's like, okay, I could come down a little bit. But it's $350 for one spot. That's a lot of money. So I was like, that is a lot. That's why I was like, well, 199 feels more, I guess, if someone wanted to take a chance on it. And again, because you just don't think it's for everybody. I don't think it's for the collector. Right. Go out and buy the card if you really, really want that card. But I do think for the person who wants to collect and take a risk, you know, with some hopefully, upside potential, that's. That's what this is. Because you just did one that's similar over the weekend, where you took 20. 24. Yu-Gi-Oh the 24 box break. Yu-Gi-Oh Which you got some cards right there. You got the Tulsa spot, by the way, which is awesome. And that. The way that you did that is that you gave a lot of value. Well, there's five characters. Five characters. What you. It just wasn't as. We did 24 Chrome, not Zebra but just 24 Chrome, which is. It's good. It's on the rise, but it's not nearly as high as Disney 100 is. Right. And so that's why it's like, okay, well, I can't do five characters at $200. I can do one character at $200. And I mean, yes, I will net more money on this. But it's also like, anybody. I think most people would say that's foolish to break that product right now because you should hold it because it's only going up in value. So that's where it's like, well, my. My loss of future gains is because I think it'd be fun to do right now, and I think it'd be. I purposely bought it for this reason. I never in my mind was like, I'm buying this to hold so I don't have to, like, fight that urge. I was like, oh, no, this is why I'm buying it. This is the reason. You have a plan for it. Exactly. And hey, hey, I'm in. I mean, I'm gonna be in on it. You bought. I mean, you bought that. You got a few cards in there. So I'm gonna be in. I'm. If you're gonna do this, I'm definitely gonna be in. I'm gonna be a player. Well, I'm not gonna encourage anybody to do it. I don't want to pressure. I should. I'm going to pressure everybody. If you want some, great. If you want an opportunity to get a Mickey Mouse, very low price. You want to get rich quick scheme. Buy into this break because you will not find a better one. That's right. Right. I mean, some of the characters are. They're not. They're only 100 characters and there's some. I mean, what would you think that, like the least desirable character in Disney 100 is? Oh, there's definitely some least desirable ones like you name. Like Sid from Toy Story. Sid is. He is not very popular, but he's more popular than some other ones for sure. I'm trying to think of the Lightfoot family from. What was that movie? Oh, Dinosaurs. No, Lightfoot. Yu-Gi-Oh Thinking about it's how Onward. It's like that it. I mean, it had like. It's not a bad movie. I watched it not too long ago for the first time. I'm like, this isn't terrible. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, it has like some big names like Chris Pratt is in there. And I want to say. Was it his brother? What's the. Spider Man? Yu-Gi-Oh Spider Man. Yu-Gi-Oh Tom Holland. Tom Holland played it. Yu-Gi-Oh So I mean, but overall, like, those characters just don't have. At least right now they don't have as much as a fan sometimes, you know, Disney swings any. They miss. So sometimes happens every once in a while. But that said. Yu-Gi-Oh those are probably like your, your lower end. However, you still get like a low number of one of those or just a numbered card of one of those. And most of the. Those would cover the price of the spot. But again, there's only going to be four numbered cards in there. So again, it is a. It's a. It's one of those where I, I am thinking more and more of changing it to a two box at, you know, whatever price. I said 30 something. What do. Can I do it at 30? No, I think I'd have to be over 30. Yu-Gi-Oh Well, don't, don't talk yourself out of it yet. Let's see what it goes. But Yu-Gi-Oh I'm excited for it. Hopefully I pick up some Toy Story spots. You know, I'm a big. We were talking about things that we Beckett up over. Over the weekend. I am a big Toy Story collector. I have the majority of the toys in my room in my office at home. When you say toys, like actual, like the actual toys, like just like a. Or what is it? What do they mean? A vinyl figure or like the toys from Toy Story? What do you. What are they? Or plushie toys. Yu-Gi-Oh but what kind of toy. There's multiple kinds of toys. The toys from Toy Story what they are the toy. So you collect defining toy. With toy, you have to tell me what it. Like, where did you get it from? Did you get it from like a Target or a McDonald's? Yes, like a work. Okay. Wherever they sell toys, you're giving me. Buzz Lightyear is what? Buzz Lightyear is an action figure. I would say, well, Buzz Lightyear. The Buzz Lightyear toy. You can purchase the Buzz Lightyear toy. You have to stop. You're just getting confused. Is it movable? Does he have. It's movable. Just like with the karate chop action and the wings that come out. So the answer is a laser. Yes. So he is movable. So I would call that maybe more of an action figure to type of toy. But that's fine. He's still a toy. He can move like Woody. Woody is also one of the. What is toy? Is he made out of a plushie? Because in the movies, a plushie. Yu-Gi-Oh So totally. He is a plastic face, plastic hands. It's exactly the replica of what the toys look like in the movie. Does that help you out? That actually does help me out. Yes. Okay. So bo peep, rc slinky dog ham, Mr. Potato head. My Lotso smells like strawberries. Bullseye. Like, I get these. You are. I'm just. Bro. I just one-of-one know where life at. Life do you live in. Because most of these, like, they've made so many iterations of these toys. The ones that they actually are like the replicas of the movie, the actual toys that they were in that movie. That's fine. Yes. So you've got a big Toy Story collection. A big Toy Story toy collection. Okay. Okay. That being said, Yep. I am. With the resurgence and the spotlighting of some of these Disney sets that we're talking about, I am going through and purchasing a lot of the Zebra 20, 24 Toy Story characters. Oh, okay. So I know that I'm picking up some from Funkle when he comes. Yes. And I purchased over the weekend. I think I got Rex, Mr. Potato Head, Forky, Slinky Dog, a couple other, like seven different. Because I know the ones you got from Funkle are graded. These are all graded tents. Oh, okay. Nice. Yes. That's cool. That's a good. So I'm just going. Fun collection. Yu-Gi-Oh I figured, hey, if I want to collect something from Zebra something that I already collect is Toy Story, I'm going to collect all the characters from the Toy Story, which there's Al. Which I really don't want. There's, you know, the Stinky Pete, which I really don't want. You're, you're naming all the Toy Story 2, which is like, where would you rank of the five movies? Where's Toy Story 2? I don't hate Toy Story 2. Really? Because as a collector. Yu-Gi-Oh The whole, the whole, the idea of, the idea of Toy Story 2 is that Al is trying to sell these to somebody from Japan on a collector. So it's, it's kind of us. I didn't think about that. I guess I need to go back and re patch auto Dude. It's, it's really good. And you know, it hits home more so now than it did probably when it came out. There's something that Al says on the phone when he's talking to the Japanese guy. I can't remember what he says. He says it in English, but in Japanese it's like thank you or have a nice day. But it's like almost. I don't, I can't remember what it is. But it's really funny now that you know what he's saying and then what it means. Oh, okay. So there's. As a child, it kind of goes into over your head. Adult fever. Exactly. But I'm going back and collecting some of the, some of those Zebra sets and okay, just FYI, Stinky Pete in the toy, in the toy version. Yu-Gi-Oh Is really expensive. So if you see that at a garage sale or what have you. Oh, really? Yu-Gi-Oh Like, pick it up. Oh, okay. Well, I, you know what? I appreciate knowing like you're going after the set to go along with your fandom of the toys because I think that is much to me, I feel like if you are a collector of something in non sport, more than likely cards are not your end all be all. Like there's probably the toys that you also have with it, or you have the video games that go along with it, or you've got the movies and, or plushies or anything else. So I, I, I like when the card is like an additional attribute to the collection, not just like the one and only thing that you've got. Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having only cards as your collectible. I think that maybe shows you have more restraint than probably a lot of other people. But I don't know, I think it's cool to show off not only the card, but the action for your, or excuse me, the toy to go along with that card. Yu-Gi-Oh just, I'm fixing to show you what they look like. I'm not gonna fight you anymore. I'm not going to. Don't try and make me. Okay, so it's. Yu-Gi-Oh it's the toy. I mean, I am. But I continue to go back. Where would I go and buy this? Do I have to go to a toy store? Like. Like, I mean, like, where do they sell toys other than Target? I guess in Walmart. I mean, you can go to the Disney Store. Just go online and buy. Because they do have Disney Store exclusive ones that have. They're a little better looking and they come with like a certificate of authenticity and like all this stuff. Okay. Like my bunny and Ducky are like that and they sell them separately. But they have like this thing to where magnetically they can like connect, touch. It's really cool. And they have. That was Key and Peele that did the voice, the voices. When you pull his is. There's like a button and. Yu-Gi-Oh you can. The voice comes out. And now you know that sometimes they don't use the actual actor's voice for those. Well, they do this time. They did. They did. Specifically. Okay. Because the Woody is Tom Hanks's brother. Tom. Yu-Gi-Oh it is. It's not Tom Hanks. His son? No, it's his brother. It's his brother. William Hanks. I don't know. Jimmy Hanks. Jim. Jimbo Hankso. Jimmy Hanks. His last name is actually different. It's Hankso. Okay. Well, that's. I mean, you were talking about things you collect with things that you collect. Yu-Gi-Oh That's why I'm really excited about the Power Rangers set because I have the majority of the Megazords. Oh, that's cool. When I was a kid, because of the new seasons came, you know, all new seasons dropping like, you know, going into the school year, into the fall. My birthday is September. Oh, right. My birthday present every year as a kid is that I could to. I could go to Toys R Us and pick out the new Megazord for that season. Dang. And that's cool, bro. That's cool. I still have my original Megazord as from when I was a kid. Dude, I'm jealous. I don't. My brother has a lot of like the toys that we had growing up. But I honestly, like, that's the problem. Like, I was dumb and I was. I got rid of like a lot of stuff. Like I wish I had all my Goosebumps books. But I remember like selling them at a garage sale like for nothing back when I was in high school. People say that about all their Pokemon cards. Right? Every you. I mean, that's what it is, right? You tell people that you collect trading cards. Oh, man, I wish I would have kept my, my Pokemon cards when I was a kid. My mom sold them for a dollar at the garage sale. So true. And it's, it hurts. It still stings to this day. But honestly, I do think that's a fun topic. Like what, what do you collect to go with your cards? You know, like, like, I think that'd be fun to see people's, you know, drop. You know what? Drop it in the. Drop it in. Or the non sports cards nonsense group by hobby. Put it down. Comment on the Spotify. Well, you can't put pictures in there. I want to see pics. I guess you could tell it like. But I would like to see pics if you got them. Like, hey, this is what we call. Jesse wants to see all the nudes. Dude. No, that's what you said. You just said that you want to see the pictures. Do you regret saying it now? Do you? Are you thinking back? That's. Hey, that's you. I said I wanted to see the. Yu-Gi-Oh he see, he wants to see all the pics. But a good way for people to send pics. Oh, in the new Discord. That's right. That's genius. I didn't even. Here's the thing. I even had a note to. We need to talk about the fact that we have a Discord now. But I did not, I did not make the connection. By the way, thank you. Huge shout out to Mr. B.J. kroger. He set this up pretty quickly, actually. But he's used a lot of feedback from you guys as well. But if you guys are big fans of Discord or you just like a fun community environment where you can post pictures, you can. There's different categories for what you want to talk about, whether it's podcast related stuff, cards, breaking your personal collections, things like that. You have a lot of different areas where you can go and post stuff up. People will comment. And I think this would be really cool as far as like, you know, what else do you collect? And I'm sure BJ hearing this will find a way to create a category for that. So for sure. So one of the, One of the. I don't know what they call them, the little, Little rooms or whatever in the discord. What do they call them? The little different. Oh, the chat room or whatever. Is it chat room. I don't think that's. Chat room. Feels dirty to say there's not a positive connotation with a Chat room. Isn't that crazy? Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh We don't have chat rooms anymore. We don't have chat rooms anymore. We want to be safe. One of the suggested things. There are mailbag podcast suggestions. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh So I do want to go ahead and pull one. Oh, sure. So why not? Since we're already talking about this. Let's do this. Do we want to do a section? Let's make one. One last topic before we end it. Because I do. I've been really concerned about our episodes going maybe too long lately. Oh, please. The people spoken, they want. They want the Joe Rogan Esque podcast. How much are we doing right now? We'll be close to two hours here soon. Okay, well, in the next, like, 13 minutes. We got a little time. Okay, so you got a topic that you said you were gonna pull one. Did you have one? Are we doing the that? Are we doing it? Okay, go ahead. Cool. All right, so this comes from Tebow. Oh, Tebow. Your boy Tebow. Tebow. Which is a great segue with some of the things that I want to talk about. Okay. If. If we ever get Topps Chrome, Pokemon, what would a Charizard or Pikachu 1 of Zebra First Year go for? I would bet for more than a Cooper Flag debut patch. That's more of a statement than a question. But no, he. Yu-Gi-Oh he. He also added in his thoughts to that question. But Yu-Gi-Oh what would a one of one Pikachu or Charizard Topps Chrome card go for today if they created that set? I think Tebow, that's a great question. I think you're probably not far off as far as, like, the thinking that there would be people willing to pay millions of dollars like they did for. For Cooper Flag. But I think the difference being is Cooper Flag is a rookie and we don't know what he's going to do yet. He has done well enough to garner prices like millions of dollars. However, I say that because I think that you have a safer investment in that Pokemon or Pikachu, Charizard, whatever Pokemon it is, than you do in maybe Cooper because of the fact that we don't know what he's going to do. And this is an established IP where they don't break their Achilles. I actually misread that. That was actually a. A answer to an. The actual question from Johnny Mac. Oh, Johnny Mac was the one who actually. Johnny Mack had the question and says, I believe on the pod it was mentioned that Topps has the right to produce cards for anything on Disney. That being Said with the addition of Pokemon on Disney, should we expect Topps to produce Pokemon cards at some point? Is this true though, that Pokemon is now on Disney? I don't know. I haven't looked. Oh, okay. Because I don't remember seeing that. I mean, we have Disney plus. I get on there. I'm gonna log into it right now. I'll tell you if it's on there. But I think there's probably, there's gotta be a limitation there. Like I don't think that they have the ability to do that. Well, I know that Pokemon is, is separated into three different companies to make one company like game freak, the Pokemon International. And then there's one other that I not thinking of right now. Okay, so maybe it has to something to do with all the different licensing agreeing with that. But okay, so maybe that's it. And I did reply to this question also. In the discord. There will never, and mark my words, here we go. Never get off yourself box will be another tops Pokemon set. Maybe there one-of-one Maybe there one-of-one There will never be another Pokemon top set. Would I like there to be? Of course I don't think you would. I don't think you do. Of course. I don't think you want that. By the way. There is, there is, there is some Pokemon. So they've got Pokemon Journey, Pokemon series, the series, the beginning from 1997. They've got Pokemon, the series, sun and Moon. They've got a few, it looks like movie, movie, movie. The rest of them are movies. So there were some series. The first one is probably like a billion episodes. Pokemon, the series, the Beginning. Is that the actual show that we all remember, like the cartoon from the 90s? It looks like it, Yu-Gi-Oh it is. Okay. All right, so but the only thing is there's only 27, seven episodes. Is there different seasons? No, I'm only seeing the one season. I know the majority of them are Netflix for sure. Oh, they are Pokemon on Netflix too? Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, okay. I patch auto all the time, of course. Why didn't I put it on on my CRT TV for the vibes? That actually is kind of cool. I like that. Yu-Gi-Oh I, I, I would think there's got to be some kind of limitations to what Tops can do card wise. If I get a person to ask, I will ask them specifically about that. Like if that's, if that really is true. Because that was like kind of said it sounded very serious when they said it as far as like, hey, if it's on Disney they can make a set out of it. But now that this product has been brought up, maybe that's like, if they don't already have a card set out there. Or like you said, maybe there are different companies. Like, they could. Maybe they could do ones of the TV show, but not Pokemon like the. And that's how it was for the Topps Chrome. Oh, so maybe that's what they could do. Do. But I bet you that that price tag is not cheap to do that because I'm sure there's some kind of additional cost that goes with it. They don't need to do it. Like Pokemon doesn't need the money. Again, they don't need to do that argument is the worst argument. I hear what you're saying. I hear what you're saying. It's such a bad argument, though, because who does. If. If you have a lot of money, do you not want more money? I mean, like, they're Japanese, so they're not even thinking the way that we think. I hope you're right. I hope that's true. I hope that is the case because I do one of the things do not care about myself and a lot of other people in the States is our lack of contentment. It's very difficult to be content in the States. And that's one of the things I think has helped grow the card community. It's honestly, for business, it's a good thing. But overall, I think it's a problem for a lot of people. And hey, if that's the Japanese way that they are content with not continuing to grow their business more. So it still makes me question, and I don't know if that would be true, but at least it's a better argument than they don't need the money. So with that being said, Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon 30th anniversary is going to be the largest printed set ever. I thought that wasn't going to be that bad. It is going to be that bad. There's going to be a lot of cards. You want to see the numbers? Yu-Gi-Oh Tell us the numbers. Show it. Pokemon 30th anniversary. These are leaked print runs. Okay. Okay. So we don't have confirmation, but this is pretty much, much. There is going to be 180 million packs printed for Pokemon 30th anniversary. Okay. Can you put that in perspective? Do we know what any other sets are? That's 226% more than ascended Heroes. In Ascended Heroes is. Was that more than Prismatic, do you think? Yes, it was. I think so. So. Oh, my God. So, because Prismatic, I know, was like, printed to the moon, so that's insane. Yu-Gi-Oh So Ultra Premium collection boxes makes make up the majority of these print runs with 87 million packs. So there's going to be a lot of them. So the reason why I'm giving this information to a lot of you guys out there is that don't spend your bag on some of these. Set some. Some of this stuff right off the bat, because there's going to be a lot of packs out there. All right, so Elite Trainer Box is going to be 26% more printed than Ascended Heroes. All right. Okay. But I will give you two different collection boxes or products that you probably need to pick up, because the MEWTWO and the MEW figure collection will not have a heavy print run, probably because of the figure. Okay. And the Ditto Premium Collection box, which is an equivalent of the Ascended Heroes poster collection because they have the same amount of packs in them, is 40% less than the Ascended Heroes one. And that will have an exclusive Ditto promo in there. Where do you. Do you get those only off of, like, Pokecenter? No, you can. You'll be able to get them anywhere. Oh, really? Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh So again, the reason why I'm telling you guys this is because there will be a lot of packs out there, there. And so don't overpay for a lot of this. And they'll be printing it for a long time. But do they do that in, like, the past? Like the, the, say, Pokemon 25, did they print that for a long time as well? They did. They. Granted it was a different market. I know. Well, actually, it was 20. We don't know. The, the 180 million packs. It's not going to be like they're all going to go on the market all at the same time. Sure. Right. But with that being said, here are some things that you need to be aware. Aware of. Okay. Of these. These packs are only going to have six cards in each pack. They do that with these anniversary sets. So think about that. Okay. It's 180 million packs, but each pack only has six cards, which is what, like half as many as a normal pack does? Yes. Okay. So they have 10 cards, you know, five, 10 cards, one of them being an Energy card out of the six cards. Okay, now, now this is what this kind of. I'm really excited about the next part. So we've been seeing this new MEW card that has been leaked that people have been pulling. Yu-Gi-Oh the RGB MEW card, the Red, green, blue associated with the game. Yu-Gi-Oh there's three different of these MEW cards that people have pulled, and there. It's not in the set list or anything like that. So it's legitimately like a secret rare in this 30th anniversary set set. The pull rate on this set of this leaked information, it is one in every 20,000 packs. Dear Lord. So think about that. Okay. And so with the 80 million packs that we know of and the 20,000 packs, that means that there's only going to be 9,000 of the these cards in existence. We don't know if it's 9,000 of the rest. Red, 9,000 of the green, and 9,000 of the blue. It might just be 3,000 of the red, 3,000 of the green, 3,000 of the blue. Okay, so that has to be. And I don't know for sure, but that has to be one of the hardest cards to pull in modern history of Pokemon. So think of one in 20,000. 20,000 packs. Well, like, I think about the odds of like a Tops box or something where it's like 100,000 for a one of one, but, like, that's, again, it's a one of one. Not many people can have that in this case. If we're talking about 180 million packs, then there's going to be a number of these out there. But I mean, what is 180 million divided by 20,000? 9,000. Oh, 180. 180. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm going to do some math real quick and just figure it out, because I would like to know how many are in existence. I would say that if you are. If you're going after this card, don't. Right. Like, I mean, like, don't chase, don't buy packs specifically. That's the whole point. Right? Wait, what did you say? Did you say 9,000? 9,000, Yu-Gi-Oh You nailed it. Good job. It's in my notes. I said it. Well, then you backtrack. So I didn't think you actually had it down, so I didn't know that. Okay, so there's only 9,000 of that card total. But again, we don't know if It's. If it's 3,000 of the red, 3,000 of the blue. Yu-Gi-Oh 3,000 of the green. Yu-Gi-Oh So makes it more rare. Or what if it's 9,000 of each? It could be, and that'll be great. Then there's. Then there's 27,000. I am curious because I do think Prismatic was printed more than Ascended Heroes. And especially now That I start thinking about it. The fact that you had it at like Costco and Sam's Club and stuff. There's also. I mean, send the heroes the same thing. I mean really. Because I haven't seen those at. At Sam's Club. Maybe I just haven't been as aware because I. It's not as. Well, it's. It's been popular though. That's one of the more popular ones. Yu-Gi-Oh It's out. People. People been. They've been out. When I looked it up on Chat gbt, it seems to think that Prismatic had a higher print run. But again, they don't know for sure. Right. Because there's. What was the print run? How many. Does it say how many packs? It doesn't say. It just says like based on a few factors. And one of the factors is like the it out at like Sam's Club and it's also an older set. So the fact is those other factors. It's had more time to be reprinted. But either way we are saying that there's more packs but not necessarily more cards. Maybe especially if we're. Yu-Gi-Oh I would say if there's half the cards, maybe that is more in line with what the other ones are doing. So just like cut it in half. Which. Here's the thing. They. How many people actually are keeping all those other cards. Cards? You know, you're just keeping the hits. Exactly. I mean, unless you're a set collector. Right? Yu-Gi-Oh That's fair. I guess this then there are more set collectors in Pokemon than there are in. Oh for sure. Other parts of the card collecting community. So maybe there's some great cards in this set. And one of the re. One of the bad things about the 20. 2020-5th anniversary set that came out five years ago, there was no real chase. There wasn't a. A card that people really wanted that was hard to pull. Pool. They fixed that with these MEW cards and people are going to want to open the crap out of this just to pull that card. So maybe this is like the boost that the Pokemon community has been looking for since the last few sets just haven't hit as hard. Correct. Yu-Gi-Oh This set is fantastic. I can't wait. I'm glad there's 80 million packs. What about the fact that 100 million. 180 million packs. What about the fact that there's this other. What is it called? Like Dark Relic or. I don't. Isn't there like another Pokemon set coming out? Do you. Have you seen anything about this Of Pokemon sets? But I mean, like, that's. I'm seeing another set about to release. But when did. Doesn't this release? Like, any time now. And in the next month, the 30th anniversary releases. September 16th. September 16th. The set after that is Delta Rain. That's just the one I'm thinking, which is the Rayquaza set, which I do. It's not Dark Relic. I don't know where I got that from. Pitch Black was the set that is currently out right now, Delta. So that Delta Rain after the Pokemon anniversary set. Yes. Okay, so Delta Rain is the Rayquaza set. Okay. And I've told everybody when this set was announced to go ahead and start picking up some Rayquaza cards. So I'm going to give you four examples of some Rayquaza cards that have gone diabolical, okay? Since this set has been announced. So Rayquaza level X From Supreme Victors PSA 10 in April sold for $28,000. In August it sold for $50,000. It's a 79% increase. Rayquaza ex from Deoxys, PSA 10 June 1 26,000. August 21 81,226% increase. Okay. Rayquaza from Pop Series 11 PSA 10 April 13,000, August 84,546% increase. Ray Quasa from Call of Legends PSA 10 January 8,000, August $104,000. That's a 1,121% increase. Why are these Rayquazas going nuts because of this new Rayquaza set? Because the spotlights on Rayquaza and people are going back and spending money. It also doesn't help that the gold star Rayquaza last psa, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but the last PSA would gone. PSA 10 went crazy. Okay. So I guess that's. I mean that's. It's hard to argue with, given especially like, I'm not saying like it's predictable like what thing is going to go up next, but in some ways it is predictable. It is. And it's. I say that because it's like, well, if that were the case, everybody would go out and just buy the thing that everybody says is going to go up in value, but maybe that is what happens, right? Like it's exactly what happens. It's going up in value because everyone's going out and buying. So right now, this 25th, this 30th anniversary, that there's the reprint of the Crystal Lugia card that's in there. Just watch. Okay. The prices of the. The original Crystal Lugia card. Yu-Gi-Oh You'll see. You'll see it go up because people are going to say, oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I forgot about that card. Yu-Gi-Oh let me go back and buy it. And it's going to slowly go up. You mark my words. What is today? It is August 24th. I'm curious to just. We'll pull it up later, but we'll see. We'll see. What a break. Crystal Lugia PSA 10 sold at the beginning of August, and we'll see at the end of October what it's. What it's worth. Okay. I'll be very curious myself. Anything else? I think that's probably a good note to end on because I think good financial advice to end the show is always positive. Stay till the end. Yu-Gi-Oh I think so. I, I had some notes to talk about, like the spongebob blowup. Yu-Gi-Oh I think that's the same. I mean, we're talking about all non sports cards blowing up in SpongeBob. That's the first year that we got a SpongeBob set. And, and I know I, I did decide I was. We don't even know if we were ever going to get another spongebob set. Well, they, they said top set at the conference. Like there's supposed to be a, A spongebob Finest coming out next year. But again, I, I don't know if that's still the case because a lot of times, like, if it's not, if you don't see the actual cards, like the box artwork and stuff, it's like, it's kind of hard to say for sure if it's going to be or if it was like, this is what we wanted, this is what we hope to do. And, and you know, something came up and we weren't able to do it, so it's like I don't, I don't hold my. Hold anything that they say too personally. That's. You got it. No, I'm saying all the wrong words. I don't think of it as a guarantee until I see those cards, like an actual artwork of the set, like something that they've pre done and, and then I can actually get excited. But Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Birds in the hands, man. Two worms under the early morning. Grain of salt. All right, there you go. That's the end of the show. I Goldin have ended at a better time because we're both having strokes. So until next time, guys. If you are interested, Marvel Mint, I'm doing some more breaks of that on Wednesday. And then we've got that Disney 100 box break, which is going to be interesting. You don't feel too great about that right now. I. Well, it. What I don't feel great about is it is a very high price, and I typically don't like to put out breaks where I. Do you feel bad? Like, do you feel like there's a little guilt? People are going to look at you like, oh, this guy's out for the money. Look at him. Yu-Gi-Oh Mr. Money, which, I mean, I. This is a. This is purely from a. Is gold. This is purely from a. A business point of view and a content. And I say purely because it's. It can't be purely if I'm naming multiple reasons of why I'm doing it. But I am doing it for the fun of the. The fact that we. I get to rip a box. Even though I don't get to keep those cards, it's still fun to rip. Would be something that would make money for myself, which, hey, Yu-Gi-Oh I. I do this. I'm not. This isn't a charity. But then two, three, I guess I think that these cards do continue to go up in value, and I think these boxes do continue to go up, and no one else is breaking it that I. I'm aware of, at least. So it gives people the opportunity to get in. So it's like, yes. Do I think it's like a high price? Absolutely, I do. But do I think, like, hey, there are going to be some who know the value of Disney and want to get in on it and have a chance, like take a long shot of hitting a Mickey, you know, out of 10 or something like that? Yu-Gi-Oh I think there's those two. So we'll see either way, if you want to just come and hang out and patch auto happen, you don't have to buy. Yu-Gi-Oh This is. This is your inception of your heel turn when people turn on you. Exactly. This is where I become the bad guy in the set. All right, what is it? You live. What's the saying? You either. Oh, don't put me on this. Living long enough to be the hero and die the villain or something like that. Someone's like, it's this. They're screaming on the top of their lungs right now, you gotta die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. That's right. Right. That's exactly what's happening. A lot of people said I should have died already. I don't know who those people are. They're my Enemies. How is your health, by the way, right now? Are you doing okay? My health's doing fine, except for the fact that I am trying to switch where I get my trisepatide from, because I get it straight from Lilly, like the pharmaceutical company. And it's 400 bucks a month. And it's stupid because I keep hearing everybody else is like, oh, Yu-Gi-Oh go get it cheaper somewhere else. And my. I was like, hey, GLP1. Yu-Gi-Oh And I'm just like, hey, babe, I don't have time to like, do a lot of research in this. Could you look into. And she like, found some company called R.O. and she signed me up for it. And you have to like. I guess there's some doctor that's like, hey, you know, we'll. That's like the Psalm company, right? Don't they sell stuff like that? I don't know. Right. Do they? I did not know. I. Like I said, my wife put this together, so. So now I have more questions. I'm not going down that path. But the point is, I just found out. They're like, no, because I have like, my mom had thyroid cancer like 20 years ago. They're like, oh, Yu-Gi-Oh we think you should talk to a in person doctor about it. I can't get like, they're. I don't. I just want the prescription. Just give me the meds. They're doing a thing by. No, they're not. It's ridiculous. History. It's ridiculous. I just want cheaper medicine and it's annoying me, but. Yu-Gi-Oh you're probably right there. Wouldn't you get it cheaper out of. From a regular doctor? Like, write your prescription? No, they. Well, they, they'll write the prescription. It's just like, where do you get it filled? Right? And like with. Well, you can, but it's like everybody's charging. Well, not everybody. Some people are charging less. I don't know how to get it for less. That's why I'm trying to. What's it called? Serpepatide Tri. Zepatide. Zepbound is what? Like the, the. The fancy name is for Zeppin. Okay, say it again. Zip bound. There it is. Nailed it. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, what was it? What's your dosage? I'm on the 10 milligram. I might know a guy. Well, here's the thing. I know. I know guys who can get like the, the compound pharmacy versions of it. I just don't necessarily want to use those as much because it just makes me a little leery. But maybe that's like the non name brand one. Yu-Gi-Oh it's like where they basically. They know the chemicals. They know the formula to the. I guess the. For all intents and purposes, they know the formula. And so they're putting the chemicals together. They get these chemicals sent over from China and then they. Oh, that's risky. But that's what they. That's what a lot of people do. That's what a lot of people do. I have kind of steered away from that just because it's like, well, I'd rather not do it. And I know I have several family members who have done it and they've had no issues whatsoever. So it's like, well, maybe I should just bite the bullet and try it. But Yu-Gi-Oh 400 bucks a month. When you hear, like, people are. I don't pay more than 250. And I'm like, I want to do that too, but I can't because Roe turned me down because my mom had thyroid cancer. Thanks a lot, Mom. Mom, don't listen to that. I'm so sorry. I love you. She. She was perfectly fine afterwards, so I love her. She almost died. She didn't almost die. I will say she had to take a pill and then she Goldin be around us or the cat for like. Like a day or two. I can't remember how long because it's like she had to take some medicine where it was like there was like, radioactive stuff in it and it like, it was meant to get rid of the rest of the thyroid gland or something like that. And it could have, like, affected everybody else's around. So we had to like, cordon her off in her bedroom for a few days. I can't remember. Bro, that sounds crazy. Yu-Gi-Oh I know. Like, you think, what is that doing to your body? And then killing cancer. Killing, Yu-Gi-Oh killing cancer. But then, then, Yu-Gi-Oh also can kill your thyroid. Yu-Gi-Oh that's what sucks because now, you know, you. Apparently you need those things. So I guess I'll have to go talk to my doctor about it. Thanks a lot, Ro. If that is your real name, that's the website name, so I know it's not her real name. All right, that's end of the show. Thank you guys so much for listening. We'll be back. Check out social media content. We got a lot of really fun stuff going on thanks to Ray and his fun ideas. But other than that, we will see you guys on the next episode. Sam,
