We just keep going and we keep going. Especially when you're in a big, ugly autumn where toughness is key. It is the strategy and also I can see the end of the road. And at the end of the road is the bright lights and the start of actual football. So by no means will I sit out. My job is to show up and show out each and every week and stay consistent. I'm a little under the weather. The show would be over. Yu-Gi-Oh Would it be. I guess. Would it be, would it be more of an injustice if I called off sick or if I had a. Had someone come in and replaced me? It's just calling in sick. I mean if you had, if you had put in some preparation and had a replacement lined up and you know that that could happen, maybe that happens in the future. But if you just straight up said your tummy hurt and you're not feeling well and you missed the football card pod, I would, then I would start looking for new co hosts. I would have to start looking for a replacement with. Was there any. This is, this is bringing me back to a time where I'm not sure there was anything better than this. In your 20s kicking ass in your career, you're very reliable. You've maybe moved up a position or two. The boss depends on you. You've built that trust. You're there every week, you're on time, maybe the last one late and you realize you're like, I got a few credits to be cashed in on. So maybe one of those Sunday nights, maybe that your team's playing on Sunday Night Football and you decide to keep it rolling because your team one-of-one and it's like 2:30 in the morning. You're like, I'm in no condition to work tomorrow. I work my ass off. You and you just like set your alarm to fire off that email like not feeling well and you just stay in bed all day. That was the best. That's a very specific reference. And maybe you watch the Colts beat the Texans on Monday night, 34 to 17 in a nail viber and Yu-Gi-Oh no, that needs to. That can happen especially. Yu-Gi-Oh like your, to your point, if you're you know, doing well already on your own and you're a reliable, you know, career person versus can't make that a habit. No. But Yu-Gi-Oh football's almost back. Like Yu-Gi-Oh you don't have to have to start dealing with that soon. Got a lot of prime time games coming up. I do route. You know what my, what my move is going to be. Need some. Need some alibis. Big market plus previous season success means multiple late night games. All the makings of a let down season. Anytime I've had my hopes up, they always get stomped out eventually. But this season's different. Ben. Jason saved my life. He, he did. And, and this wasn't on the sheet, but I feel like we need to comment on it a little bit. What was a more hilarious. First of all, I feel like, and I, I'm. This is like for me, I need to get. This is a recognition of making sure that the algorithm doesn't drive my intake of sports news because it's not great. It's not a great place to be. However, it was unavoidable this week with the Jed York of it all on top of the desean Watts of it all. It's like, you know what? We've got some time in between until real things happen to the league. Let's just get as much schmut and as controversy as possible integrated into this NFL media and let the social media run wild. So that there was the memes, there was all the things, but all I can say is $140, man. That's, that's, that's what you're going for. And then DeShawn Watson, my goodness gracious. When it, when can it end? It's, it's, this is just it, it feels like it's never going to end, but it's like, when can this end? Yu-Gi-Oh that shout out Jed York jazz out here, slumming out here, just, you know, like, you know what? He's, he's had enough fancy Donruss and high end high class escorts. He's sick of that. He needs. Sometimes you gotta go, you know, dumpster diving a little bit and get out there. I was just looking because I still one-of-one the black hat cards family some sort of villain card. And I'm like, is there a Jedi or card out there? But all I'm finding already is an insane amount of Jed York graphic T shirts already just flooding the market. All kinds of clever little things. But Yu-Gi-Oh Shout out. How fast you know, people work. People work hard, but graphic T printers work harder. So they, they sure do. So I thought that was interesting. And Yu-Gi-Oh man, it. I, I forgot to acknowledge when we blew past Lou Gehrig, I mean, we blew past 56. So which is more impressive, you know, 56 in a row or 62 in a row? I kind of think 62 is a bigger number, so. Gonna lean 62. Yu-Gi-Oh The. My only. I'm gonna. Let's document this now because we're talking numbers. When we hit 64, we need to have like a Nintendo 64 section and we can cross reference that with football games. I feel like that would be good just to. To cement episode 64. 60. Couple fact checks here. Stat corrections. Episode 62. It was Joe DiMaggio 56. Game hit streak. I think I said Lou Gehrig. Good for you. We're. We're a football card podcast. We're not the baby R s over here. So, Yu-Gi-Oh 62 better than 56. That's the bottom line. Because Stone Cold said so. Yes. All right, 62. I think we got an interesting opening topic here that you've got brewing. Yes. For me, you know, I think that I don't know what I was doing, but this just hit me. And the. I like to bring up existing narratives, and I like to look at them and compare and contrast with data. Sometimes shout out Card Ladder, the official data provider of the Football Card podcast. But when I got back into collecting in 2020, I remember, and this is such an easy thing to do, is like, you see what everyone else is buying and where money's moving and just like, go to try to play in those circles as opposed to, like, thinking for yourself and collecting what you like, you eventually get there. And I would imagine most listeners of the Football Card podcast operate like that. But I remember when I got back in 2020, the message regarding football cards was very, very clear. There was this narrative, and it said, only by quarterbacks. And you'd hear, we'd ask. I'm a very curious person. I'd ask why? And they'd be like, you know, running backs don't last long and receivers depend on quarterbacks. Don't buy defensive players. And I kind of like, took that, especially as I graduated into buying what I loved. And, like, I started saying, don't buy running backs on every card I posted. But I looked and I looked at the Dayton card ladder and did a index from January 20, January 1, 2022 today, and football cards are up 380, 80.99%, which is a big jump. And it feels like that I remember I could buy whatever I wanted for, like, next to Nothing back in 2020. It make. I'm like, take me back to that era, like, in a way. But I think, obviously, I'm not saying all this to say quarterbacks don't matter. I think they're still the straw that stirs the drink. But it also feels like and there's some sales to support this from this week, but it feels like there's been some recognition regarding other players and collectors are spending more money on other players and this can be because they love the player. It could be they're building out a set they like a specific parallel. But I wanted to start with that. And then there's some topics within that that I want to get into. But I don't know. Like, do you have any opening remarks just based on. I feel like we got kind of back in it about the same time. So I don't know. Like those are some numbers. There's some growth. But like what is your. What are your thoughts on just like this existing only by quarterbacks to kind of where we've ended up with now? Yu-Gi-Oh I think fascinating topic. I do think it's like I don't think it's bad advice. I don't think the only by quarterbacks is that all like a bad direction to go in. Especially if your goal is like to profit from sports cards. Like that is a. I think it's a fine rule of thumb. I don't think it's. You have to do it at. You don't have to listen to anything but just if you are entering the hobby and your goal is to like buy and sell sports cards and maintain a living or not even a living but just like have this side hustle thing. I don't think on buying quarterbacks is a bad route to choose. And like Yu-Gi-Oh so that that's my opening thought is like of all the just like advice that people throw out there or things like that there's far worse things than just like only buying quarterbacks. I mean I think. I think you bring up a very important topic and this is a very important topic in distinction when we hear all of the conversations and narratives across all the platforms where you've got individuals that are providing advice regarding like collecting. Like I like this year of this set because these parallels are shiny. And then you've got other people that are saying like they're providing collective collect collecting advice but it's really kind of investment thesis or theory and that there's a lot of rub I think online because someone will say something like only buy quarterbacks. And then like the collector of Reggie Bush or Ladanian Tomlinson will be like that's not true because I'm having a blast buying these cards and this is great. So I don't know man, it feels like there's kind of like those two worlds get mixed and mushed all together sometimes between like people just sharing like their thoughts on collecting versus people sharing advice that is all based on kind of the financial side of things. Yu-Gi-Oh Yes. And I mean all of this boils down to like this person who we're advising, like, what do you want out of this? Or like, what, you know, what's the goal? And like that would, whatever the answer to that question is would be the reason for whatever advice we give. But I, I just remember when I first like. And like, I love the way that I collect and I've always leaned towards skill players and I haven't been like buying quarterbacks or anything, but when I set up at a show for the first time and I had my table of like early 2000s Finest football and like skill guys and just no modern quarterbacks, and I just didn't sell one card the whole time and like, I still had fun and I was like, this is cool that I get it. I mean, I talk to a lot of people and show the cards. But it's true when you go to these shows, people only want not. And again, like, I'm not, I don't want to speak in absolutes, but for the most part people are there to buy quarterbacks or like these, the big name players that are liquid and that they can move very easily. Even at the national this year I had a couple random Bears cards that I wanted to sell, like a DJ Moore gold vinyl and a Roquan Smith gold vinyl. And it's like I could not sell those to anybody. Like, I went to multiple tables, you do you want to buy this? And people be like sick cards. But no, like those cards have one specific buyer out there and, and they're not walking up to my table. Like they want their table to be full of quarterbacks and the players that people are, are asking for. So the like, to me, the don't buy quarterback or only buy quarterbacks is like the advice for someone who is again trying to become a full time dealer flipper in this hobby, which again, like, that's not how I do it. But I admire those people. Like, if I were a young kid and there was an opportunity to like do this full time, like buy and sell cards full time, I would 100 have been trying to go that route. And if, even if part of that is just me buying and selling cards all the time and not like putting as much into like my collection collection at that point because you know, you're trying to get this thing off the ground. So all that to say is I admire anyone out there who's like hustling to make a living off cards. Like going to all those shows. Like that is hard work. Like that is not. I don't know, I just never see like these young kids. Well so some can be annoying and some content can be annoying. But for the most part it's like hey, if you're young and you have no kids and all the time to just go show to show and like buy and sell sports cards, go for it. And if you're doing that, I bet you're probably buying quarterbacks. What year did you set up at the card show where you had like the running backs? Probably 20, 23. Okay, okay. If you set up, let's just use a local example. Let's say you set up at the Midwest Monster and you had that same case of cards this fall. You, you didn't. I would imagine the, the results and interest would be very, very different. Yu-Gi-Oh I think I'd probably do better. I think he would do a lot better. It's. I, I just, I look at signals. I just feel like there's more confidence and conviction. People have finally been like, I had this guy on my fantasy team. This card is sick. Like I don't like it's you know, 1/10 the cost of you know, Brady or whatever. Like when did this change? Like, because I felt like it was just like all of a sudden like the football card side felt more validated to put big money into non quarterback players. Like maybe it's always been happened but it felt like there was a moment when it started like really proliferated. Do you have any clue on like when that happened and why? I don't think there's like one moment but I think it's just natural. With time passing, more and more people keep coming into the hobby. More and more people keep trickling down the funnel and like finding this lane and seeing the opportunities that we've seen or just seeing how modern current player is worth X and I can get another player whose career is already done and who I like have all these awesome memories for, for like 1/10 of the price. And I think that always made sense to us right away and a lot of people we know and Yu-Gi-Oh I don't think there's one necessarily watershed moment but just and as like more and more people make content and there's more and more exposure of hey, this player's highest selling card is this much like those things where It'll be like Drew Brees has one sale over six figures and Jaden Daniels has 50 sales over six figures. Like, the more you see graphics like that, I, to me, anyways, it makes me want to go back to those older players. So I just think as more and more people keep coming into the hobby, it's, it's natural that a percentage of them are going to filter into this world of fantasy players or just team collecting, set collecting, all that good stuff. When I think about the 2020 era and I think about content, maybe specifically on like Instagram, it was all like player driven. It was all like charts. Here's this player and there's very little like going a few layers deep, like talking about product sets, parallels, those sorts of things. But that is certainly changed. Like we have grown up as a category where more individual people are creating, more people are educating around sets, talking about like rarity, scarcity, like the aesthetics of certain cards, which is the content I want to consume and it's fun. And I feel like that shines a light on, builds awareness for products and gets people to maybe buy a card that they didn't know about of a skill position player. I guess, like the, what's the contrast of that? Like that action and activity and content going on versus like this narrative of like, you know, we'll just buy the quarterback. Like, I don't know, it just feels like that more like leaders in the space sharing has led to more people feeling comfortable with buying positions that aren't quarterback. Yu-Gi-Oh I think that's got to be part of it. Or just like we found more of a network and there are more people vocal about it. I mean, we're on the football card podcast 62 weeks straight of talking about this type of thing. So like, Yu-Gi-Oh having representation, I guess out there. Because in 2021, 2022, when I was buying running backs and stuff, it was like, oh, no one else is doing this except for a group of 10 people that I found on Instagram, even though I know it's way more than that. But it just took time to like kind of uncover everybody and you know, a lot of these people who so many. Instagram is like 1% of the collecting world too. So Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I, I. But yes, I think the, there's more confidence in people to talk about it or people are just more willing to talk about it. And as you see examples, I do think that influences people. And Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know, I just think I, I don't know if it's my own warped, you know, social media ecosystem, social media bubble. But I definitely feel like I see a lot of football card content. But I also my algorithm is very football card coded so that is going to happen. But even beyond that I do think there's more football card coverage. The maybe the final thought that just like came to me as we're thinking about this, maybe talking about subjects specifically is we talked about this. I think on one of the episodes you made a comment and I had never really thought about it but just like looking at Barry Sanders and looking at Jerry Rice and then those are like the leaders of that, like those, those two players and their collectibility have really like pushed this like skill position thing maybe to more to the forefront because everything's always attached to dollars. And those car, those guys have been, you know, we, we ran through the data of what they, what their car, like how many five figure cards they've had over the last two years. And then like behind them it's like Randy Moss and then Calvin Johnson. Like so like these players like from different eras are continuing to kind of push this forward. But like I don't know man, this is like Zebra nerdy and I'm not quite sure how to like get into this. But like you, you look at the 90s and you, you we've talked about Marino and how he was like kind of a celebrity but like there wasn't really like that. You had a great group of quarterbacks, you know, Aikman, Stevia, Marino, Jim Kelly, like all these guys, Elway. But like none of them were like, I would say were so accomplished that they should rise above like the, what Jerry Rice and Barry Sanders did to like the imagination of football fans and collectors so that like elevates those skill positions in that players in the era. But then like you know, you get into like the 2000s and you got Brady and then you've got Manning. So it's just like they're like dominance almost like has overshadowed all of the other surrounding players in the, in that era and maybe made it a little more difficult for the skill position players who are all time greats like Ladanian Tomlinson to maybe reach the heights that Barry Sanders has reached in his cards and collecting. And it's, it's a long game. Like we still have time, like these things will all play out. But I don't know man, I, I try to, I think about that it's like in the eras and what else was happening, like what was competing for dollars and I think that's like an interesting exercise to dig through to try to understand like why your favorite skill position player who you love maybe hasn't reached the heights in terms of collectibility and desirability that maybe some of these quarterbacks have that might be less popular in the grand scheme of things. Yu-Gi-Oh that's. There's something really interesting there. Like who is the best quarterback of the 90s. Like there's not really a clear cut answer. Like there, there's cases for a lot of different guys. Like Brett Favre have had three straight MVPs. That's pretty sick. He one-of-one a Zebra Bowl, Steve Young one-of-one a Zebra bowl mvp, Elway, two Zebra Bowls, Marino, all the stats. Kelly went to a bunch of suit. Like there's these different guys who all have pretty strong Aikman. Aikman's garbage though. But 80s it's very apparent. Joe Montana. Joe Montana, yes. But 90s, it's very unclear which then it. But then if you ask who's the best receiver of the 90s, Jerry Rice and it's like your best running back of the 90s, Barry Sanders. Like the fact that those guys are kind of clear cut number one in their position. I think there, there's something there versus when you ask the quarterback question and there's all these different opinions or takes or arguments to be made. So. But then when you get into the 2000s, it's Brady. It's like who is the most accomplished quarterback? Brady, who's the best quarterback? There's arguments to be made there for the. Is it Manning? Is it even Rogers in the 2000 and tens. Like you know, there's different all of a sudden there's other things but. And then the skill position thing isn't as clear in the 2000s. Like if you say who's the best receiver of the 2000s that answer isn't as clear. Or the best running back of the 2000s, same thing. So that I don't know. There's something interesting there about how there are and again everyone has their own opinions but there are some kind of clear cut answers for some of these questions and like those players tend to be the ones that kind of lead the pack on the collecting front. So when. Yes, great observations and points. When, when I ask you in the 2000s who is the best receiver, who would you say? Randy Moss. Yu-Gi-Oh so kind of 90s, but Yu-Gi-Oh 2000. Yu-Gi-Oh So what about running back LT? Yu-Gi-Oh so we're, we're in agreement there. But that I feel like that hasn't quite bro. Like I Would love. Maybe we'll pull the audience. Like, what do you think? But I just, I feel like that is. Is bubbling like that is bubbling and that like, if you and I can both come to an agreement. Not saying everyone will come to that agreement, but I feel like the, the momentum around that category is. Is not quite where it. It can be. Especially like looking at some of the skill guys. For sure. Well, and then there's the, like the car, like the card landscape during this time because Rice and Sanders have the green PMGs and the rubies and like they're in all the iconic 90s sets that basketball collectors and baseball collectors know. Baseball doesn't have colored PMGS baseball card podcast. But that when you get into like the lt, like, okay, what's Jerry Rice's best card? If you ask people that, I feel like people would gravitate towards the PMGS and the J Masters gym Master. Yu-Gi-Oh If you ask like the best Ladanian Tomlinson card, I think it's just like people don't the early 2000s as well. Because the early 2000s is a weird landscape on foot. On the football front. Yes. When LT is a rookie in 2000, strange rookie year too. In that product. Strange rookie year. And then like you don't. From 2001, you don't get one of ones until like 2005. Yes. So like there's this weird gap which is a gap that I'm fond of that we're all fond of. A lot of football card collectors are with like, I, I do like the weird Topps Chrome was different every year during that era and Finest was doing weird things. But Yu-Gi-Oh there's. There's something there too. Like even I guess Randy Moss is a rookie in 98. So that's an easier answer. But for anyone who's like a rookie from 2000 on, like, what is their best card, it becomes harder to figure out until you kind of get into one of one land. You know what's interesting about this? And especially with LT specifically and thinking I'm like, my wheels are spinning as you're talking about this. I. I don't the. I think there's an issue here because I don't even know what it. I don't even know what it would be. But I would say with, with as a part of that conversation, I think you would have to say like, whatever Ladanian Tomlinson is first game use shield on card autograph. But isn't it like, I can't like just tell you what that is because I, I don't know, but that, that to me I feel like is a somewhat of an issue. I mean you could say like also say like Ladanian Tomlinson's first Superfractor, like that would probably be in the conversation, but they're not dependent on his rookie year, which a lot of people stick to rookies because of the product selection of that era. So that, that isn't. We could get nerdy and probably spend hours digging into those concepts. But I think that's very interesting and it's way less defined. It's uncharted territory when it comes to like the 2000s to 2010s. Yu-Gi-Oh And I mean the Barry and Jerry, those biggest cards aren't irky years, like, right? I mean, yes, those cards sucked. Their, their PSA 10s command a high value. But Yu-Gi-Oh I, I don't know, it's. It's fascinating. There's so many sets that like have good moments. But Yu-Gi-Oh there aren't the clear cut kind of heavy weights in the early 2000s into the 2010s, even that like basketball or just 90s sets seem to have. And Yu-Gi-Oh it's a. Why it's still the Wild West. That's why I like it. Yes. And I to, to bring this all home. I think what we, what we just illustrated there and like the digging and the back and forth and the questioning shows why they take like only buy quarterbacks or you know, don't buy running backs. You can't like, you can't just take all that stuff at face value because like players, stats, collecting, manufacturers, eras. You have to take all of that stuff into consideration because all that stuff matters. So I say all this to say like these blanket statements piss me off. And I'm glad at least we two collectors could talk through some of this to help validate that fact that Yu-Gi-Oh just go do some research. Like there is got to be gold out there in terms of like someone who's ahead of the curb, who's understanding like what people want in uncharted territories, especially in that like decade of football cards. Like if I had all the time in the world, I would just study all of that and I would go find the cards that no one's talking about because like you'd be, I think you'd be validated and I think you'd be able to buy some of that stuff for a percentage of what a lot of the new stuff is going for. Yu-Gi-Oh and like one more like the only by quarterbacks thing. I think there's also like a difference between and like I don't know. I would, I would still always. And this is what I did. I'd rather buy old retired skill players over modern quarterbacks. There's like modern quarterbacks, retired quarterbacks, modern skill guys, retired skill guys. Like there's. I know there's so much nuance that goes into what you want to do this. So this is a pro Joe Burrow podcast. We both really like Joe bro. I. You like Joe bro, right? Yu-Gi-Oh Great player. Like, he is unbelievable. But to your point, the what Joe Burrow cards are going for and what he has accomplished in comparison to a player like Ladanian Tomlinson and what he accomplished, like, it's kind of night and day. Yu-Gi-Oh But you're gonna have to pay a lot to be in the Joe Burrow game right now. Well, and just you're gonna look in 10 years and Joe Burrow is going to be maybe like, maybe Jim Kelly or like Marino. Like, like I, I mean Marino's even. I don't know. It's just hard. There's so many quarterbacks all the time too. Like every year we're getting four new quarterbacks who get the chance. Like the amount just the modern current game is just so fast and like the, the actual gameplay itself, but also the card collecting side of it. The card like even buying Caleb Williams cards, I'm like, why am I doing this? Is because you're bitten. You got the Pokemon. You're excited. I'm sick. But like part of me is like, I know I'm spending the like the highest that these cards are probably ever going to be worth is like good self awareness pain right now. Which, like should I be doing this? Should I just keep like. I don't know. But I, I love it because I'm excited for the season to start. But I don't know. There's. Yu-Gi-Oh this is good. There's good topics in just all of this. I. I want to just ask you one more question that's unrelated and related because we were talking about Burrow and this is gonna. Whatever your. Your. I'm excited to hear your response. Does Joe Burrow play for the Cincinnati Bengals three years from now? No. I could see him leaving. He seems like just would. I don't know. I just don't know if we're gonna ever see a lot of quarterbacks stay with the same team their entire career. The way players in general 10 are probably going to move around more and more as it goes on. And so three years from now he'll be in the league have been in the league 10 years maybe. But if they one-of-one a Zebra bowl in the next three years, maybe he stays. But if they keep having kind of like these disappointing seasons, I could see even after this year. I don't know what his contract's looking like, but I don't know. Like, time is short. These guys play. He knows his career short. He's one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league. Yep. Like, look at Matt Stafford. Stafford laid the blueprint of like, hey, I gave you my best shot, Detroit. And Goldin get your together. I'm gonna go to la. And so who's to say that after Herbert flames out that the Chargers don't come calling? Joe Burrow or that would be something. Miami. Joe Burrow in Miami. Are you kidding me? Joe Cool down there. Joe Shiesty in the. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I think there's the Saints. Burrow goes back to Louisiana. I think there's a lot of storylines where Joe Burrow I years from now. So it's like better one-of-one those Zebra Bowls now. Yu-Gi-Oh There will be a time where we see Joe Burrow in just like a weird jersey. Burrow in a Jags jersey. It's gonna be like, wait, what? Eagle center from 2011 to 2023 Zebra bowl champion, six time first team All Pro. I didn't even know this was called this, but he was the built for tough offensive lineman of the year in 2017. He played 193 games and started all 193 games. He was an undersized linebacker who walked on to Cincinnati, never got recruited, transitioned to offensive line and the rest is history. Jason Kelsey was an incredible football player and I feel like because Travis is a megastar and has, you know, the, the beautiful pop star wife that the career on the field career of Jason Kelsey never gets the credit that I think it it deserves. But he is a hell of a player. So shout out Jason Kelce. You probably don't need shout outs from anywhere else, anyone else, but we're going to shout you out here. And his biggest sale of all time. Brett, you got any in your household on Colts game days? Yu-Gi-Oh so I want to. A previous one that was almost an end of an era is that. And I attribute the closing of this place to be the last time the Colts were successful. There used to be a bar a stone's throw from Lucas Oil. It's called Basies. It was a real shithole, but they had it popping on game day. There was like a brother in there with an acoustic playing like, hurts so good and like Everlong and stuff like that. And then like, you know, they're bringing the Jaeger trays out. You got just people ripping heaters inside. Like inside, but it's really outside. It was like one of those things shout out Basies. That used to be my spot. I loved it so much many years ago. It's taken me back, but I kind. I kind of. I. I definitely maintain same attire. Definitely during winning stretches. And then going when I go to games, I still have the same routine. Or my new same routine is I used to be able to walk to the games in my old house. And that was just like the ultimate. I wanted to maintain that when I moved. So me and my buddy who I go to all the games with, we park our car on McArti, go to Chili Water, have a bite to eat, shout out Chili Water. Great, great spot. Have a bite to eat, then walk from Chili Water. They opened up finally. Pre went to the preseason game. We can talk about that more. But, like, they opened up the Lily Pass that were under construction for like the last three seasons. So now we can walk through Lily and walk into the stadium. And it is awesome. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I try. I. There are small a few things that I try to maintain for my sanity. I like. I. I'm a creature of habit and I like a good routine. Yu-Gi-Oh we. I don't have one specific superstition or routine, mainly because the Bears have been dog for the past decade. Plus until last year was was a glimmer of hope. But Last year, something that moved into rotation that will be a staple this year is we go to Fat Dan Sunday. So we went a handful of times last year. It became kind of a routine towards the end of the season, but getting there around like 11, kind of before the crowds are there like with. With our daughter. There's a lot of kids in the mix at the time, but everyone just good spirits ready for the game. Fat Dan's is such good food. So Yu-Gi-Oh Fat Dan Sunday morning is definitely part of the. Part of the rotation. And then Yu-Gi-Oh I have Yu-Gi-Oh a bunch of sweat. Like I never am. Like, oh, they worn while I was wearing this. So I'll wear it again. I don't keep track of it like that but like when it games on, I'm notorious in. I'll move rooms. Like if we have people over, I'll walk away. I will go downstairs and walk watch by myself in isolation. I can. I have no problem telling people to get the out of My House if the Bears are losing. And I'm mad. So. Yu-Gi-Oh but shout out Fat Dan. Yu-Gi-Oh fat. So I'm assuming based on your proximity, you're probably hitting the college. The O.G. yes, college. Yu-Gi-Oh that great. Look, we've got the one Downtown off of Mass Ave, which is closer to us. But Fat Dan's. If you are ever in Indianapolis and you're looking for something like really unhealthy but like really easy, dude, it is the type of spot they, they. They bring out the. That's a big hitter for us where it's like they just drop it on the middle of the table and Yu-Gi-Oh just a mass pile of fries and tots because gotta get the tots in the rotation. And then. Yu-Gi-Oh no the Italian beef though. Okay. We and spicy dipped. It's so good. So it's also like part of the reason you probably like it too. It's it is. The owner's very big Chicago fans, so big Cubs bar. Obviously they support the Bear. So you're. It's a little, little, little taste of Chicago here in Indianapolis. But shout out Fat Dance. Love that place. And with the. When they have like the garage doors out front open and you get a breeze blowing inside, it's truly heaven on earth. When this is a Bears gate day, I cannot wait. They opened up the Downtown location in 2016, like, but right before the Cubs World Series. And I'll never forget walking around the hood and I was like, it was like a concert. I was like, what is going on? And it was just everybody on Mass Ave. Watching the Cubs game at the Cubs World Series at Fat Dance, which is the biggest pro Chicago Cubs place you can go in Indianapolis. And it was just so cool. All right, next up from TKD tickets, it seems inevitable that there will be some kind of baseball work stoppage next year. Long time dealers have told me that previous baseball strikes have had a downward impact on hobby interest and prices. But it has been a while since the last strike. If a strike does happen, do you think that the football card segment of the hobby is strong enough to keep trucking along or do you think the impacts of a baseball strike will spread across to football cards? I. Yu-Gi-Oh go ahead. I don't think that, like, that. I don't think the baseball strike would impact football cards at all is my takeaway. I think that a baseball strike would impact baseball cards and maybe drive more interest to the past. Like the 90s seem to be having a moment. Like there's huge Griffey and bond sales and early 2000s, like those kind of guys seem to be gaining momentum. But Yu-Gi-Oh I just think like if there's not a active modern game happening, it's just natural for people to kind of maybe dive back a little bit versus like wanting to. You don't have new games and new players and new stats and stuff to watch and collect. Like you're. I would think people would drift backwards, but Yu-Gi-Oh I don't. I don't think it would affect football. What do you think? Yu-Gi-Oh I don't think it would affect football. I would say like 1995 was a long time ago. The hobby has changed a million times over since then. So I'm not sure we can expect the same things. As a matter of fact, Like, I think because these players aren't playing, which leads to potential, there might be more interest in baseball cards because of that. Just the way things work. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I think. I don't. I'm not a huge baseball guy, but it sounds like the strike is inevitable, so we'll probably get to see this thing play out. Think of your favorite top four football cards. What is card one and cards two through four. If you could only keep one of those for the rest of your life, either one or the group of two through four, which are you keeping and why? Yu-Gi-Oh I think I like, my brain hurt when I was trying to, like, rank my four, and then I finally just, like, came to the determination that, like, I probably wouldn't sell my 2014 Luck Finite. Like, I just. I would pick whatever the other three are. I would. I would pick the. The luck over that maybe even. And I was like, well, is it. Could I put the other luck finites? And I'd be like, I'd probably just stick to that one just because I have such affection card. So I. I'm sticking with the one card, I think. So I was thinking of this, like, I was like, can I argue 2 through 4 for the sake of it? Because I love groupings. But I'm thinking, like, if you were going to be stranded on an island and you could only either have your one favorite card or like, your two through four, I think I'd do two through four. I want quantity. I like having a little. Some groupings in there. And again, stranded on an island. Need things to look at. Three cards is better than one. So that's. That's an interesting way to look at it. I think I would want to be a minimalist being on an island, and I wouldn't want to carry around a lot of stuff. I just imagine a little. Imagine a little like, like, like little, little sack with like, some, like, some, like, grubs that I can eat for protein and like a little water. And then like, my luck finite, just one. That's my entertainment. It's like, what are you doing tonight? Oh, I'm just gonna sit on some rocks and look at my. My luck finite for a bit. Oh, cool, man. I'll see you Using that to kind of try and track a plane. Like, sun's reflection just flashing it also, too. Then I started wondering like, okay, let's say you're going to be stranded on an island and you get 10 items, right? Like you would be going survival based items, but at what item number are cards on that list? Like, how far would you have to get down? Because eventually if you're picking items to survive on a stranded island, deserted island, there's going to be a moment where you need to pick items for entertainment. And so then it's like, where, where do sports cards fit into the mix? Can I have my phone? No phone, no technology. Analog island. Yu-Gi-Oh that's. I feel like it would be. I'm not sure where would fit, but I would, I would need to have at least a card. I think the better question is, would you rather have a, like your favorite car in your collection to give you comfort or a picture of you and your family? Is the picture of my family a one of one? It's a, it's a 101. Is it numbered? Oh, it's just a base copy of my family. It's not non parallel, but it, it's, it's, you know, it's, it is like a Kodak version. Like you go into CVS and like hit the machine. It like pops out. Like the photos. Whatever happened to those, by the way? Like, we grew up in an era where like you go to your, your mom or your dad would like open up these canister or these big tens of a hundred Kodak pictures. Like, where are those pictures? It's like that was such a time, like photo books and stuff. It's like none of these things exist anymore. I keep getting to this moment where I'm like, all right, I need to like set up these like bullying search terms in my save searches to get these the out of here. And I just never do it. But it's like giving Leaf a run for its money. Like every card in Leaf is like a one of one. By the way, there is the most obscure of all time in the manufacturing side with some of these guys right now. Like, dude, do I really, do I really need like a dinosaur like Peyton Manning and like a political figure? Like, dude, I don't need that card. Like, who is this? I'm like, who is this for? And then also being able to do some like card ladder search optimization. I feel like I'm like, sometimes I'll listen to Card Ladder Confidential, shout out Car Lantern confidential or other or crossover and hear them talk about some of the like modifications they put in when they're like doing a search. I'm like, what is this wizardry? Like, I'm just not, I'm not there with like removing certain words and like doing certain filters. So I need, maybe I need a card letter workshop. This is what I would tell. I would say everyone should spend some time doing this at some point. Imagine yourself inheriting a big windfall of money. Let's say you got enough money that you can go make some card purchases and not even consider what I would recommend. Because I've been doing this recently. I go back and just clean up my watch list and you will like land on like three or four cards and be like, if I ever sold something or had a bunch of cards, like, I need to make a move on these cards. But sometimes those cards that like we, that are just sitting there are the cards we want most. But it's almost like we forget about them at times just because they've been there for so long. Yep. 100. There's. You got to just buy those cards. We were talking about this a couple weeks ago. Like if there's something that you keep coming back to, it's sitting on your watch list and it has 50 watchers and is in three carts. It's like, just buy the card. You're. You're going to want it. Because the feeling of when a card like that disappears is just gut wrenching. Like I had the chance and I just wasn't why didn't I do it? Why didn't I do it? All right, good questions everyone. Thank you very much. Let's move into the last couple things. We'll get out of here. NFL check in any, any thoughts as we're approaching. Right, ready? I was in the stadium. It was just, I was all excited. Walked in was like, I can't believe we're back. And then watch just like stinky like three third stringers trying to make the team play. And I was like, the Colts got the, the Colts starters like one-of-one the practice against the Falcons both days. And then they literally look like they Goldin even play. I was like, what is going on? So like I'm ready for preseason to be over with. It was nice to be back in Lucas Oil, but I did, I closed the loop on the, the jersey purchase. I did, did make a decision and I just, you know, I just felt compelled. I was like, I gotta, gotta go with my guy. And I, I, I grabbed the Daniel Jones Blue 17. That's, that's what I'll be, I'll be rocking. Which probably means that he'll be hurt within the first three games. But I justified it by being like, dude, I've got a Carson Wentz jersey, a Matt Ryan jersey. Like Daniel Jones a the best quarterback we've had since Andrew Luck. So it's time to buy his jersey. So got a, got a Daniel Jones jersey. But never in a million years when he was on the Giants would I imagine myself owning a Daniel Jones jersey. But here we are. Yu-Gi-Oh If five years ago someone said to you, no way, five years you're going to be buying a Daniel Jones jersey. Be so excited about it. You should have got the like because he's number 17. But instead of Jones, get dimes on the back. Get a like custom D17. Could have been cool, but no Daniel Jones the classic that you may have sealed the fate though. He's getting hurt. Week four. Well, at least my guy's not on the front of Madden this year. It's true. There's purses galore on the football card pod. Yu-Gi-Oh preseason, just give me, get me to the real thing. I'm so ready for it. Like after the Bears, they blew out the Browns in week one of the preseason and in my mind I'm like, hell Yu-Gi-Oh This is like indicative of who this team is. This team is on all levels. Like, everyone on this roster is good. This team is ready to, to roll. Like preseason is a great indicator of success. And then the Bears got blown out in Week two by the Bengals. And I was just like, preseason doesn't mean any good. These guys aren't really trying this. We're not showing our full hand like this. This means nothing. So, Yu-Gi-Oh already kind of on the mini roller coaster on the, on the kitty beast. When, when the, when the Colts one-of-one the Zebra bowl, they were 0 and 4 in the preseason. The Colts were always losing every preseason game and then intentionally and then starting 13 and 0. That was like a decade straight. The Colts one-of-one preseason games and then they go 13. Oh, I w. I, you know, I, it is a time, John, that I definitely took for granted. That's for damn sure. Yep. All right, let's talk about some sales. All right, we got some Biggins this week. A card we've talked about finally sold. And that is the 98 Skybox Metal Universe. Peyton Manning, Gem Master, rookie, one of one in a PSA 85 sold on Heritage for $414,800. How are you doing? What's your reaction to that? Lower than I thought. I think coming into it, initially the, the estimate was like 500k and I feel like that felt right. But then after those big Josh Allen sales, kind of talked myself into this going north of 500k and could even go higher. Like, this is arguably the best one of one of Peyton Manning, his most important rookie card and most significant rookie card, however you want to call it. So. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I know $414,000 is a large sum of money, but feels like a deal. I think. Yu-Gi-Oh I thought it, I thought it was going to hit half a million. I think the one thing you have to consider is based on single card Manning sales, this card doubles the previous high, which is a pretty big, pretty big leap. So that stands out. You know, I, I think that I've seen a lot of people like saying shout out college cards like the college jersey, but for me, I think that's the, the limiting factor of this card. I think. And this is no disrespect to the University of Tennessee. This is no disrespect to college collecting. I love college collecting. I'm pro college sports in cards. But I, I feel like you put manning in an 18 Colts jersey. This card is, is, is surpass. Yu-Gi-Oh And maybe throwing instead of scrambling. Perhaps, perhaps. Or just. Yu-Gi-Oh Notorious runner Peyton Manning running, seen pictured scrambling on this card. And Yu-Gi-Oh I agree though, if this were a Colts jersey, I think it's far and away goes. Goes beyond 414. But do we need the NBA? Do we need the NBA silver sticker. Have to. So you got. You got to know I'm a one of one. I'll never understand it on a one on one. It's also the bottom percent. Yu-Gi-Oh I just, I. That is one area I just cannot dive into. Stickers. But I think this is, you know, this, it's a monster sale in football cards and it's, it's, you know, I think people had certain expectations but is a. Is a big, big, big card. So excited to see it finally off the board. We move over to a card we know and know well. But this sale is certainly outstanding. It is the highest sale in this cop in. In this grade. We've got the 35 National Chickle Bronco Nagursky PSA7 sold for 402,600. The previous high and a 7 was a hundred and five thousand dollars in August of 22. So invest in Bronco Nugursky. Yup. Yu-Gi-Oh What a one-of-one for football guys when a Bronco card almost outsells the man. Yu-Gi-Oh man, it's crazy. Yu-Gi-Oh What a massive sale for this first seven. There's an 85 out there that sold for like that card ladder had valued or close to a million. So seeing Bronco Nagurski become a million dollar man would be. Would be awesome and a huge one-of-one for football fans. I wish this so bad just was Bears branded versus Minnesota. Another college one. Yu-Gi-Oh another college card. Back to back college cards. College football card podcast. What are we doing here? Good call out. I did as I was putting these together. I didn't even see that. But Yu-Gi-Oh that is wild. Like what if he was in on the Bears? Would it change things? I think that's an interesting thing to think about. We go over to a Topps Walter Payton rookie autograph. It is a authentic auto and a PSA6 is a big old sale. It sold for $122,000. But how cool is this item? How you've got a car that's a classic that everyone knows well. And then you just see the auto on top of it. It's like this is the type of stuff I'm like IP auto all the way. Yu-Gi-Oh This is sick. I can't. That is such a high sale. I didn't realize. He probably doesn't have many autographed rookies. If this six auto authentic grade is selling for $122,000, that's a wild sale. I do wish my one note. I wish this was like a blue ballpoint pen versus the black Sharpie. I don't know. I think the. Something about the ballpoint pen looks good on a more vintage card like this versus the Sharpie. But regardless, awesome card. Don't collect running backs. All right, we move over to 2019 Prizm Larry Fitzgerald Black Finite. One of one and a PSA9 selling for $19,800. Very strong sale for a Larry Fitzgerald Black finite. Yu-Gi-Oh this card, 2019, not my favorite year of Prizm but the finites are sick. And this card looks like it's made for a black Finite of Larry Fitzgerald. Like, the colors on this. Like, the design of the card looks like the Cardinals jerseys kind of with, like, the shoulder, red shoulder pads, the lines in there. I don't know. This just what a sick card. I like to look at the eyes of the individuals on cards, and there's something about a guy who's looking out into the open field, but it looks like he's staring off into space off the card. And just. You can see the gold captain's patch on Fitzgerald's jersey, the way he's getting ready to tuck the ball. And we all know how Fitzgerald runs in the open field like this. This card screams action and just really real. Not 2019. Not my favorite year, but agree, the Finites hit a little different. We close it out with the 2009 playoff. Absolute memorabilia. Matthew Stafford, Rookie Premium Materials Auto NFL Shield 1 of 1. $18,600. To me, this would be a almost perfect card if it wasn't a sticker auto. But just. It's got all the elements. Yu-Gi-Oh Equipment shield sick. Shield window. Correct size. Also sick. The. We talked about this before, but the early NFL shield cards always had the craziest backgrounds. Doing way too much with the just graphics back there. Like, if this were just nice, clean, white, you know, National Treasures type presentation, I think I'd like it even more than having all the different lines and colors and kind of distractions in the background, but. And if it were on card, even more. This would become undoubtedly one of his best cards. But all of that aside, this is still pretty sick. I do like the fact that you get kind of like the full body shot of Stafford, which is not something you typically see on a full equipment shield. So I think that element's cool. But Yu-Gi-Oh there's.
