We gotta episode lots to cover so we'll dive right into question of the week. I decided to end up question of the week this week. Oh. And it's very generic but very insightful, so I'm going to ask you to kick it off. Why do you collect? Where did this come from? I always have my ways. Okay. Why do I collect? Well, that's kind of a heavy, loaded question. I don't feel like spending a million minutes on it, which I'm sure I went away. Well, first, going back to my childhood roots, growing up a big sports fan. Like, it's always funny when, like, I always get asked, what do. Like, what'd you watch when you were a kid? What? You know, did you like Disney? What cartoons did you like? And I was just like, I watch sports and wrestling. Like, that was my childhood. Like, I don't remember, like, you know, Beauty and the Beast or Pocahontas or Cinderella. You never watched cartoons? I didn't watch cartoons. You are very serious child. I know. I was running around the house thinking I was nature boy Ric Fleer and everybody to suck it. Yu-Gi-Oh That was my childhood. As early as I can remember, I remember watching my earliest, like, Sporting Times. I remember watching Starcade. I remember watching WrestleMania's King of the Ring when Taker. When Taker threw off Mick Foley. I remember all these things pretty vividly. And I remember watching Mets games. I know. And I still remember when Undertaker threw McFoley off the cage. Yep. And I remember watching it in our living room. Irreparable damage. Yep. By God, he killed him. Yu-Gi-Oh So it all started with that just liking sports, then finding out, like, you know, going into the mall that, you know, oh, I can get my favorite players jersey. So, like, I always wore jerseys as a kid. Like, going into school, it was always my favorite players, my favorite teams. Literally, it was a different jersey every single day. I felt like I was like a mid 2000s rapper with all the jerseys that I had. Like, literally everything closet filled to the brim. And then, Yu-Gi-Oh getting into card just because our father was a collector himself and. And collected cards and collected autographs and was a big sports fan himself. But why physical things? Why physical things? Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, you could. You could like sports and movies and everything else and just, like, not care about souvenirs or a Detolf or putting cards on a display. Like, why, why, why do you. Have you ever thought about that? Like, I could think of an analogy now. You could see a naked woman on your computer. Is it like having it right in front of you? I'm gonna say no. It's nice having something Tangible in front of you that you could look at the picture. You could look at the. The photo. It's your favorite athlete. You're collecting all different cards and images of that athlete. A big thing. When we were kids and we talked about this with Harris, I think, two or three episodes ago, you know, like, when we were kids, like, relic cards were, like, all the rage. Like, a bat card or a jersey card. Like, I thought it was the coolest thing that I could have. Like, I could own a piece of, like, Mike P's bat in a card. Like, that's the coolest thing ever. So, like, I love that aspect of it. Building a Pandora going through my Pandora I love, like, trading. Trading with either my brothers or friends or anything else. And I guess a big credit would be to also Pokemon, because Pokemon was so red hot as a kid in, like, that late 90s era that, like, having cards also translated to, like, oh, doing it sports. It's seamless. Like, we were big Pokemon kids. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, it was the time. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I'm just not to. You know. Yu-Gi-Oh I agree with that. That. That's why I like the tangible things. I like physically owning it, physically being able to go back and look at it. I'm a big book collector and magazines and programs and stuff like that because I like being able to say, you know what? I want to get nostalgic and look at a magazine from WWE from 1997 and not just think about, like, oh, that was a fun memory I had reading those magazines. I want to go back and read the articles again and look at the pictures again and, like, look at the merch that they were wearing. And you can only do that if you physically own the item instead of just thinking about, like, what that issue was, you know, same with cards. I like physically opening packs, looking at cards, sorting them, putting them in my Pandora putting them in my boxes. Everything's in an order. You know, on a phone with a digital card, you can't do that. It's just. It sits on your phone. It's like a picture. You look at it, you know, and, like, think about pictures. You know, how many. How often do you scroll through your pictures and look at the pictures you've taken over the years? Barely, if ever. Yu-Gi-Oh but people go back to photo albums all the time and, like, get nostalgic and look at photos and they scan them and they post them, and they, you know, they go back and touch it. Like, I don't know. I just. I always enjoyed that aspect of, like, physically Having something and, you know, being able to look at it whenever I want, you know, because a lot of stuff is digital and I think we have to accept that, you know, music. And I have. I have Spotify Premium. I have every album that's ever been released on Spotify at my fingertips whenever I want. I don't have to carry CDs and all that stuff, and that's fine. But I think certain things I'm not willing to, you know, go strictly digital for. And Yu-Gi-Oh you know, that's my collectibles and. And the stuff that I like to, you know, physically own. So, Yu-Gi-Oh it's just a thoughtful question. I thought, you know, there's a lot of. And this is going to get into what we're going to talk about in Card Corner, which is the Hot Takes episode, but why do you collect? You know, why do you. You know, that's a question I think every collector should be asked because, Yu-Gi-Oh the answers are going to be different. And I think it makes you think about, like, why we really get this stuff and display it and keep it and put it away and. Well, it also translates to how you acquire cards. Everybody has different practices, different setups. Like, there's people out there that only see money signs when looking at a card, and that's all they care about. They care about a profit margin. You know, there are people that ultimately also like to help build out collections. Like, oh, like now all of a sudden you're part of a community and you're going to card shows and you're dealing with the same people and over, over again. And now you start getting stuff that you need and people, like, actually look out for you. You know, there's that aspect of it, too. It's the sense of community and belonging to something. And now going to card shows and collecting with friends and family and whoever else. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I agree. I think that that's a lot of the fun also. And it's also how you display it. You display your. Your PSA slabs on your wall. You're very proud of that. People come in, they want. They look at it almost like it's a painting or a picture. And, you know, you're proud of what you've put together and proud of what you collected. I don't necessarily have that stuff displayed like that, but I have other stuff that I've put out, like memorabilia pieces and bobbleheads and, and toys and. And other kind of collectibles. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I think it's. It's fun to go back and think about why we actually do this sometimes instead of just continuing to do it. And we'll start with a pretty big show that's happening this weekend. Sunday, August 30, 11:30 Eastern. I think it's one one o' clock and I can't be right actually because of the time frame. But Yu-Gi-Oh to the UK. Five hour difference in the UK. But we are talking about AEWs all in 2026 live from Wembley Stadium this weekend on Sunday. So wanted to run through the car to make our predictions. Yu-Gi-Oh So let's get right into that. We'll kick things off with Divine Dominion versus Brawling Birds for the women's tag titles. I am going to go with Megan Bean squad going with the heels. I'm gonna go with the Brawling Birds because Jamie Hayter is on their team and she's from England and Yep. You know what that means. The hometown. Hometown championship. It. So we'll start. Start with that one from one one. This match is kind of up in the air still because I think it's the fit. It's finishing up tonight, but it's either going to be. We'll just say we're not going to pick a winner, but it's either going to be Moxley or Claudio Cast Castagnoli versus Kyle O'Reilly or Nigel McGinnis. So it's going to be. Those two matches are tonight to determine that match. And that is for the Continental Challenge. Moxley seems like he never loses, so it's probably gonna be him. If I had to pick out of the four. Yu-Gi-Oh It's just. I don't know. Like, I think Moxley Claudio is probably a better final. Not a semi final. Right. In my opinion. Like Moxley care about in the. The Combat Club. Yu-Gi-Oh Dissension. Yu-Gi-Oh We got Hangman and Brodido versus a team to be determined for the Yu-Gi-Oh World Trio Championship. Again, that's kind of hard to determine. So Hangman and Rodito it is. There you go. We got Kyle Fletcher versus Kazuchika Okada versus Takeshita for the International Championship. Three Absolute powerhouses. Who's the champ going in? Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher retains. He's the champ. Yu-Gi-Oh probably. I think Kyle Fletcher wins. Yu-Gi-Oh they got to give the young guy the spark out of the group. Although Takesh is young as well. Right. He had the belt. So. Yes. I feel like. Yu-Gi-Oh Fletcher. I Don't know if they go back to him. Yu-Gi-Oh Kevin Knight versus Darby Allen and a falls count anywhere match for the TNT title. I just started a Kevin Knight PC, so I'm going Kevin Knight. Oh, very nice. Yep. I'll go Darby. Just to mix it up. He's. He's a psychopath. So, Yu-Gi-Oh we got Andrade versus MJF versus Champa versus a fourth person. And in the casino gauntlet for title shot, Andrade. I feel like he's gotten a lot of love on Yu-Gi-Oh tv and he's had some good moments so far. So I think it's. It's fresh. It adds, you know, adding something fresh to the title scene would be. Right. Like, I'm thinking, like, if Osprey is going to one-of-one it, what kind of makes sense for the, you know, next. Going forward. It would make sense for MJF to one-of-one Always makes sense for MJF to one-of-one it. Yep. So I'm going with my. My guy from Plainview. Yu-Gi-Oh Prince of Plainview. That. We got Copen Cage versus the Young Bucks for the tag titles going. Bucks in the title change. I like that. I think a lot of people will expect Edge and Cope to go over, especially, like, over there. But I feel like the. I don't know. I feel like the Young Bucks need that, like, big UK moment. Yu-Gi-Oh Well, I also. The Bucks haven't had the titles in a while. No, no. So I feel like that would also, I mean, kind of freshen things up again. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I agree. We got Willow versus Mercedes for the Women's Championship. Oh, Willow because she's from New York. I'm gonna go Mercedes because she's a goat. I don't think so. By the way, the last time the Bucks had the championships tag titles was 2024. So it's been two. It's been about two years since they've been. Yu-Gi-Oh they're due. And last, the big one, Kenny Omega versus Will Ospreay for the Yu-Gi-Oh World title. It's got to be Osprey, right? This is what we've all been kind of working to. Yep. Unless Tony Khan throws a big swerve at everybody and says everyone wants. Everyone's expecting Osprey. You. I'm. I'm giving it back to. To the cleaner. But no, it's in Grub's home country. Yu-Gi-Oh I think it's got to be. It's his homeland. Tony Khan's a mark for the. The big one. Yu-Gi-Oh It's got to be Osprey, and Osprey is Very deserving. It's not like he's not. No, not at all. I would love for. Yu-Gi-Oh I've been saying it. I mean, listen, he got hurt so it wasn't exactly his fault why he. While, you know, why he hasn't. But Yu-Gi-Oh I've enjoyed this Kenny Omega run here and I think it's time to give it to Osprey for a little bit. Yu-Gi-Oh All right. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I'll be definitely tuning in. I don't know how early I could start. I think 11:30 is the. 11:30am Our time is like the prelims and then the main card's supposed to start at like 1:00pm Eastern here. Yu-Gi-Oh well, I said the pay per view is not going to end it, you know, 12:30 a night. No, it's gonna end. Yu-Gi-Oh it's gonna end at like 6pm Yu-Gi-Oh So it's a nice change. But I'm also in charge of a two year old for the entire day because Nicole's gonna be in the city. So it's gonna be Yu-Gi-Oh until she starts screaming at me to put on Bubble Guppies or Dora the Explorer or something similar. Some other show right now. So good luck with that. We also, we're also planning. I was planning a. A little bit of a toy hunt with her on Sunday. So I don't know, but I definitely am gonna watch. I'm gonna probably just order it and patch auto when I can. Yu-Gi-Oh All right, let's get into some more news. 20, Topps. Now. Shohei Otani, John Cena, Superfractor or foil fractor PSA10. We spoke about it last week's at auction. There is one day left. There's only been one bid made since we recorded last week. So it is now at 25, 528 bids. Last week was $25,000 and 27 bids. So that we. They've received one bid since we've recorded our last episode. What do you think? You think it's going to jump that last day or do you think this is. It's going to jump, but I don't think it's going to be a great deal. I think the ceiling might be 50. Right. So I'm going to pin it 35 to 40. But again, you never know. Like I just saw another Otani, one of one auto tops now. Just did one hundred and something Thousand. Right. The auto changes things, but it certainly does. And honestly I think the fact that it's. I don't mean to say this disrespectfully. But like, Cena brings. That brings this down, in my opinion, for Ohtani collectors. Yu-Gi-Oh if I'm gonna. If I'm a Dodgers fan or an Otani fan, I can. And I'm not a wrestling fan, I can give a. About John Cena being on the card. Sure. I'd rather a big baseball moment one of one, than this dual like, you can't see me moment. Yu-Gi-Oh But, Yu-Gi-Oh I think. I think you're. You're right on. Speaking of auctions, though. Yu-Gi-Oh we have a couple updates for some WrestleMania 1 of 1 patch cards. Yep. Currently a Goldin Auctions John Cena PSA8 WrestleMania 1 of 1 is at 92, 000 and 112, 240 with buyer's premium. That has 15 bids. It's got 24 days left, so we're still ways to go over. Three weeks to go. Rhea Ripley in the same time frame is at 39, 000, and the buyer's premium number being at 47. 5. That's a sneaky car to hit a hundred thousand and two other ones on the lesser level, but still will sell well. It's like, oh, would you rather, you know, 52 mantle or would you rather, I don't know, sh. Otani? I think. Okay, I. I think a Fair one is E206 Honus. Or would you rather the Carson Benj Debut patch auto or the. Jacob Mizorowski? Oh, the Miz. Yu-Gi-Oh Because you're not a real fan. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Having Carson Benjam's debut patch auto, which is. As a Mets fan, that could be the biggest card Carson Benjamin ever has in his career for a starting right fielder for your team for the next 15 years versus a guy that you've maybe seen pitch five times. You can care less about that. Just meet Me that, that's just saying that you just want the money. Yu-Gi-Oh I'd rather have my guy saying I disagree. Everybody always takes the money. All right, well, let's talk about something else that we disagree with because this is what you wanted in the notes and not me. But we're going to talk about it. We're going to talk about 2026 Panini MLW ring royalty. Yu-Gi-Oh finally. We've been teasing it on the show. It's finally here. So it's a, it's a two auto box. You also get six different inserts or, and or parallels per box. Some of the bigger names include. And just, you know, make sure you're seated for this. Carl Anderson, Scarlett Bordeaux, Killer Cross Die, Jack Austin, Aries, Doc Gallows Mystico, Hulk Hogan, Ric Fleer You think that's it? I mean honestly, it is a nice looking set. I like the, the portrait signatures. It's a beautiful looking card. Some, some names are not selling well. Like a riddle of that just did five bucks. But just because the sale number is low doesn't mean you can't enjoy the set or think the cards are nice. You are forgetting that Jacob Fatu is also in this, which is pretty cool. Look, there's sps, there's autos. There's a pretty sneaky case hit in this. And what is that? That a lot of people that may not know the Panini realm of, of cards may not know too much about. But it's the blank slate case set. That's a, that's a case hit that does transcend other ips. It's been a pop. Very popular case hit in basketball, in wnba, in football. Those cards go for pretty good money. And this is an interesting one just because I'm like, I'm looking at ebay and like some of them are listed for like 80 bucks and then they're. The Hogan is listed for a thousand, you know, so like rolling the name. No, I, I get that. But you know, Ultimo Guerrero is like a 50 card, 40 card. You know, is it worth maybe like picking that up, stashing it away and just saying like I don't know. It's a popular. Yu-Gi-Oh you never know. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean Shotzi looks like she's selling over 40. She had sales of 42, 60, 80, 70. It's a beautiful card. It is, it is very. I love the gold with just like the, you know, the wrestlers are in color like that. I think it looks great. I'm not seeing a Hogan sale yet, but it seems like the Three names that are popping up the most are Shi Nakajima and Kojima. How much was the last Kojima sale? 20. Yu-Gi-Oh Satoshi Kojima. Interesting. No, it is. It's a beautiful card. It's simple, it's clean. I like. Like the goldish background. Is that how they alt art with like that goldish background? No. So like sometimes they're silver, sometimes they're like gray. Like it's like a. It's supposed to look like just like a blank canvas with the. With the person on it, on the card. So if you look at, you know, other years, other. Other sports, it's different but similar design. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, the Hogan stuff is doing pretty well. Kurt Angle's got autos in this. Yu-Gi-Oh that's what I'm saying. Like, if you PC one of these names, it's a fun set to chase and go after. And it just adds to the collectibility. I mean, it doesn't hurt having more cards out there, you know, in the world, especially if you actually watch MLW or you're a fan of that particular wrestler. Like, if you're a Hogan completist, this counts. You gotta get your Hogan cards in. Or Fleer or Kurt Angle or whoever else. The auto checklist is not that big. Plus the. The box price wasn't bad. It was like 70, 80 bucks for a box. And you get, I think two autos in it or an auto and something else. So, I mean, it's. In that regard, it's. It's fun just to take a crack at. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, Mystico has autos. He's on. You know, he's still on tv. Yep. If you look at some of the other names. Yu-Gi-Oh this, this. Excuse me. This auto set is pretty interesting. It's legacy signatures. It's got just some interesting names. Ric Fleer Raven, Kurt Angle, Arne Anderson, Atlantis, Hulk Hogan, Buff Bagwell, Ricky Morton, Jake Roberts, and Taya Valkyrie. Buff Bagel is definitely an interesting name. And then you have in the portrait signatures Matt Riddle, Mystico, Carl Anderson, Killer Cross, Trevor Lee, Kushida, Austin Aries Shotzi, Tom Lawler, Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey, dijack. So a lot of the same names. We've seen Paul, Walter Hauser, but Yu-Gi-Oh I think. Am I opening it? No. Am I going to chase anything out of it? No, but I think, you know, for people who do collect, anyone that's in this set, it's just another reason to another set that's available to them. So. All right, what else we got here? So car, ladder segment, we're gonna Go through the highest tops Universe sales which I don't think anyone asked for. But if you want to add this in, have at it. I just hate Universe. Universe. So talk about quickly the five biggest sales within universe. Well they're all 4k and four four figure sales so. And a lot of them are within the last month. Interesting. Which is interesting. So we'll just do run through this quickly. At number five we have the Rock Retrospective Auto Base PSA 8 sold for 21.75 back in July back on July 1st. This is a car I love that. I. I would love to add one day triple H, Cactus Jack superstar rivalry dual auto to five sold for 23.50amonth ago. On July 27, number three, the Rock retrospective auto red which was the number one of five sold for 24 $25. Back on July 14 the John Cena ringside relics used turnbuckle relic one of one sold for 3,868 back in March of this year. And then the number one sale, the Hulk Hogan Foil Fractor Auto one of one sold for 7, 500 also back in March. So I'm. I mean I'm not surprised because a lot of this stuff, I mean the premium relics in this were really nice. So it makes sense that you know, one of one or something really low numbered would you know, do well on a sale. Yu-Gi-Oh but it's funny like of the cards that have sold in this set, two of them of the top sales are Rock Autos which have nothing to do with the design of Universe. Right, right. It was, it was a commemorative set. You get the rivalry. Cactus Jack and Triple H, same thing. Yep. Commemorative set. So non, you know, Universe card. So the only two that we got were the Hogan and then the Cena. The top. That scene is nice. Oh I bet. Yu-Gi-Oh The turnbuckle of it. But Yu-Gi-Oh it's cool. I'm sure it is. So I just, I find that to be funny that you know, three of the top five sales aren't even of universing of that. But Yu-Gi-Oh that's the thing too. It's. And we're going to talk about this again in our card corner segment. But you know, I think it's one of the problems wrestling has is that you know, how many Roman Reigns or Rhea Ripley or Cody. How many auto different autos of these guys do we need in a modern set at this point? You know it's. Why would you pay 900 for a CM Punk auto when he's had autos for the last three years, you know. True. It's just. Well, it depends. I think for newer like sets and stuff, it makes sense. Like if you think about it, Universe was the first time we got Universe. So if you like that particular set and you PC someone like a Punk or Cody. A preview. Big Preview just Tribute 2026 tops royalty. It's back. Tops Royal. I didn't even see that. Yu-Gi-Oh So Shiloh Hill from NXT posted on Twitter. He was signing the cards. His cards have the Rookie logo and there is a set and actually I like the design. It's called Imperial Imperial Inc. I don't know if they were in the original Royalty set, but it's. This one's a nice looking card so I'm on board with it there. I hope it's a 2027 set. It's not. It says 2026 tops ring royalty. Well, think about it. Last year was 2025 for 2025's WrestleMania. All right. Right. So the 2026 patches are now going into. Feels so recent. Well, because Tops is having an issue right now with not. No one knows what the hell they're doing with the ww. I, I would love, love, love, love, love to speak to someone in charge of the creative of wwe because it's just like I can't defend them. They haven't done a good job. We get four Sepia based sets in a row. I mean we're gonna get Royalty pretty much back to back depending on when this gets wrapped up. We're getting Universe back to back, which again, if, if you're gonna make that a flagship set like you alluded to last week, fine, you're gonna expect it every year, but. And hopefully get spaced out properly as we go into the future where, you know, you're not getting it so close to the last release. But I mean let's, let's get creative here with some of the sets that are to be coming out. We still don't know anything about Stadium Club yet. We just know the cards were being signed and we haven't Heard of any other new development coming out of a potentially new set? No. You know, are we. We haven't. We don't know if we're getting another Finest yet. We don't know. I mean, we do know we're getting another Chrome. And they have so many different, like, so many different sets that they can do. Like Inception, I don't know. Or create a standalone. Right. Ufc, I believe, has standalones. I'm surprised we don't get. Maybe even get like a museum collection or like. Right. It feels like those sets are. Yu-Gi-Oh Again, premium relics that you could throw into a product and. Right. You could do a Tribute. You know, is Heritage ever coming back again? Like, what are we doing? Right. You know, and it's just. It's quiet. You don't hear anything until all of a sudden we see an image of a talent signing the card and then it's like, oh, I guess we're getting this. Or we got a, you know, eql. Guess it goes live Monday. Yu-Gi-Oh And then it just randomly drops. Right. So, I mean, royalty is probably going to be a staple now that we get every year because of the patches. Right. They need a vehicle to release that. And on top of that, a bunch of new talent have actually wore their Raw and Smackdown debut patches. Blake Monroe was seen wearing hers on Smackdown. Bronco Nima and I, for Lucian Price, I believe they had patches on for their run in to help out Keys. So we are getting. They're staying on top of the debut patches. Yu-Gi-Oh that's good. That's good. They're staying on top of it. Yep. Now, those debut patches were put into what set again? I can't recall. It wasn't Royalty, I don't think. Was that Universe? Actually I went to a new comic book store, Beckett up some stuff from there. Yu-Gi-Oh it was, it was pretty quiet week for me. I actually, I bought a bunch of supplies. I bought Pandora pages. So I started redoing my Mets PC. So now I have a, a Pandora for all like alumni and then a current roster Pandora And then as like guys switch, I kind of, I add them to the alumni or whatever. But I have two separate binders now. So I got Pandora pages for that bunch of top loaders. I re top loaded some stuff and put some stuff in some new cases. I needed 55 point top loaders bad for those, those Marvel cards. So Beckett up a box of those. Yu-Gi-Oh So it was kind of a quiet week for me. All right. I decided to dive into a little Yu-Gi-Oh flagship case break with Marcus Brandon and the good brother hooked me up, pulled me a Kevin Knight auto. I believe it was a base, so nothing crazy there. But was still happy to get an auto nonetheless because in Yu-Gi-Oh case breaks they come few and far between. So was excited about that. I usually have been checking Medina's breaks and by the time I get in there, I can never get anyone that I actually want. So. Medina, let me know when you're going live there, bud. I think tonight was the last case. Oh, cool. So I missed out completely. Yu-Gi-Oh well that's all right. I'll catch him on a rebound. Oh, I still want to open some of that. I was at the LCS today and I thought about it. Yu-Gi-Oh I think it was 85 a hobby at D'. Angelo. No, a S85. Yu-Gi-Oh I know. That's great. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know what the angel had it for, but next time I'm over there, I'll have to grab one. Yu-Gi-Oh so I got to that. I also went to the LCS and I was pretty damn pissed because I Beckett up a Fanatics exclusive box of Top Scrum update basketball. Decided to take a chance, dive in, maybe hit a debut patch. Full disclosure, I did Not. But I did hit a Cooper Flag Refractor, which solid card it's going for north of 175 bucks. 200 bucks. And it was damaged, so, of course, I wasn't pretty pleased about that. I'll actually. I'll send you the photo of how it looks because I told you about it. But, Yu-Gi-Oh I had to submit photos to Tops. Now I'm worried I might get. Because on the receipt that was printed out from the store, it says custom sku. Yu-Gi-Oh They don't. They don't itemize. That store doesn't itemize their stuff. So now I'm like, great. How am I gonna prove that this was the product I bought? So what I did was in the same photo, I put the. The box code, like the scan code with the receipt in the same photo. Okay. So I'm hoping they're like, oh, he's got the barcode right. It is chrome update. Or that they pulled out of. And. And hopefully it gets approved. So, I mean, listen, it's a. It's a. Not that it's not a big card. It's a. It's a $200 card, but it's a. If it was in good condition, like, the rest of the card is Flawless. If this thing gets a 10, I'm looking at a 500 plus card. No, but what I'm saying is in Tops, like, for tops, it's not like they're gonna. They're gonna, you know, replay or replacing a one of one or something where they're, like, really scrutinize, like. Right. Like it's a base Refractor. Just. It's clearly damaged. Just replace it. Like, it's. There's a million of these, right? Yu-Gi-Oh Do the right thing. Yu-Gi-Oh But we'll see. And technically, they do have to go greater equal value. So if it's current market and they can't replace it. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh that sucks. Right? That's bad. It looks like nail. Like. Like someone, like, dug their nails into the card. Yep. It was probably something that was like, oh, Cooper flag. Let me ruin someone's day. And that's worthy. Yu-Gi-Oh that's. That's bad. Yep. Look how minty the rest of the card is. It looks great. So that sucks. That was a bummer. But, yep, that did happen. I also Beckett up. I one-of-one this at auction, actually. I thought at a great price. Topps Chrome, Cosmic Dominic Mysterio Star Fractor. Number to 10. I got it shipped under, like, 45 bucks. You love that star fractor. I do. It's a fun set. It's a nice set. Some of the base of like the bigger names aren't selling well, but I'm looking to get like paralleled versions and now I got the bread out of 10 and then I got a Dominic Mysterio out of 10 so was happy to add that to the I'm gonna stash that away for a while. Keep it in the collection. Nice. Cool card. Nice card. So. And I believe that was it. Oh, and a Carson Benj. It's funny you brought up Carson bench today. A gold geometric. Oh no, I'm sorry. Gold logo fractor out of 50 rookie from top Scrum. I had a couple of things on my list from him this week that I've been looking at, but I didn't pull the trigger or anything yet. Prices are slowly going up. They are. So Yu-Gi-Oh I thought about the radiating rookie. Yu-Gi-Oh that's still a good buy right now if you could get it. Yu-Gi-Oh So. That's a sick relic on that too. So nice little Austin there. The jumbalizer sick. I think that's first year Metal University at 2022 so that's first year Jambalaya. So nice little pickup there Tim French wife and I have been getting into the WNBA recently following our local team the Dallas Wings. Beckett up a trio of megas from last year select didn't pull anything relevant at all. But that didn't matter to my wife. She was pumped to get any and all the names she knew. It was really cool to see someone get pumped over a pace card. Just a friendly reminder, it isn't always about the big pull. Hot takes, hot take. Kids are going to take on some of the bigger hot takes within the hobby. So I'm going to read the hot take. Or if it may not even be a hot take. Maybe it's something that we both agree on. Maybe you don't agree and I agree and vice versa. We're going to get into it, though. We're gonna give a brief opinion on how we feel about it and then we'll move on to the next one. So let's kick things off. And I think this is one we disagree with off the. Off the bat. Oh, PSA will never bring back a truly value version of a card submission. Sub 35 value. They will. I don't think so. Or I think the new value will be 35. That'll be the lowest. Yep. I think we're at a minimum of 40. So you think they do not want base cards anymore and they do not want little inserts. They don't want, you know, they want the big fish. They don't. They're making it so hard. Well, if they're gonna do that, you better go back to their old style of grading where they're just handing out nines and tens all over the place. Right. Which actually, did you see the thing that Boston Card Hunter posted? Apparently he has like an inside source of PSA that's been like feeding him. I didn't get a chance to look at it yet, but. Oh, apparently there was things about like, you know, recognizing newer accounts, giving them a lot of tens at first to make sure that they're repeat customers and like, oh, geez. Which you would you expect anything else? I'm sure every grading company has shady practices that they do. It's like, it's like the drug dealer giving the first time customer, like, Yu-Gi-Oh here's the, you know, here's the good on me for, you know, for the first time. Right. They're gonna come back because once you got them hooked, they're a customer for life. Yep. No, I think they, they have to. And I get you don't want them being clogged with, you know, base cards and all that, but that's also. They can't be the hobby police either. No. If I want to send in my insert plus, how many times do we see where a card will come out and it's worth very little and then all of a sudden blows up? So you're gonna, you're gonna, you know, fault me for a Roman Anthony base first becoming a 200 card. Right. And then the guy gets hurt and hasn't been seen since. Not my fault. That's what the market dictates. This hobby is supposed to be for everyone. And that includes the guy who wants his autographed David Wright card in a slab. Because he loves David Wright. That's his music and he wants it protected. Exactly. That has the same, you know, place in, in grading as the Cooper flag gold Refractor does. 100. It's to each their own. And you can't police that. That's. It's not, it's not right. Do I, Am I a Pokemon collector? No. Does it piss me off that, you know, out of the backlog, probably 3/4 of it is all Pokemon cards sitting at PSA right now causing there to be a back jam. Yu-Gi-Oh it pisses me off, but I can't do anything about it. It's. They have just as much the right to great to great as me. So. You know what? It's fine. It is what it is. I have to live with that. But I. You have to Bring back some sort of value level, submission level. Right. You have to. And look, I mean the first time, think about the last time this happened where there was a shutdown. The card I think went from like 18 bucks to 25. They're not just gonna go from 25 now to 80. There's no way. There's gotta be. It'll increase, but there's got to be some sort of common. Common level. Yu-Gi-Oh All right. Hobby content has priced out the average collector. I'll let you speak your piece first. I think on, on YouTube and those Topps of platforms, not necessarily podcast platforms, but on like YouTube and social media platforms. I think it has, I think it's, it is indicative of where the hobby has gone and is going. I think the thousand dollar card is equivalent to like the 100 card five years ago. But I think a lot of hobby content now is, is big, big deals, six figure deals, five figure deals, five figure cards, you know, grails and, and stuff that you just don't see every day. But that's every video, you know, we're seeing, I think. And from all the bigger names too, I think we're seeing a lot less of like, here's my Eli Manning PC and it's just cool Eli Manning cards that are not worth $20,000 that someone just wants to show off in a video or like, hey, let's go to the ship Shawana card show and dive into the 10 boxes. Nobody's showing that stuff anymore. It's, I'm buying 52 mantles. I'm buying LeBron autos, I'm buying Jordan Rookies. I'm buying this. You know, the bigger platforms and the bigger pages, that's what we're seeing. And for someone like me, I've seen those cards, I could really, I don't really care. I want to see the stuff that you don't see at the shows or that are available all the time. I want to see somebody diving in to a, a dollar box and pulling out a 20 card that they found in there. Like, that's the stuff I want, I want to watch, not people just passing Lucas back and forth again. Like, I, I get that and I agree in theory, in principle with what you're. I don't think that hobby content has priced out an average collector. Would you consider yourself an average collector in terms of money? Whatever, whatever you deem that definition to be? I mean, I'm probably on the lower end of the, of the. Okay, has hobby content people have stopped you and price you out of buying Michael Conforto. No. So in reality I think that. But they, but it has forced me to look for alternatives in content because I'm just tired of watching people buying Otanis and, and Jordans. So this, it's forced me to now look for other stuff where like now I'm watching a lot of Marvel stuff and. Well that's. And that's fine. And again, you're 100, right. I agree with you about that. But I don't think because Card Collector 2 shows off a deal for a hundred thousand dollar Michael Jordan, that Michael Jordan Rookie PSA 10 has been a quarter of a million dollar plus card over the last five, six years. It hasn't gone up because people are creating YouTube videos about those cards. No, but I just think social media are now those deals. I think social media itself has contributed to that because I saw an example the other day, a card account posted about a Griffey card and was like, oh, this Griffey card's sick. I guarantee it's going to be the next. It's going to be 4x of what it is because it's a cool card. Yu-Gi-Oh the bubblegum card. Yu-Gi-Oh And what happens, it blew up and now that card is, is a thousand dollar PSA 10 or a $2,000 PSA 10. So the power of social media as a whole I think is what's doing that. I don't think it's necessarily content creators on, you know, that stream on Instagram or YouTube or anything like that. Okay, it's fair. Next one. Ripping packs gets a bad reputation as gambling when it's probably the best way to collect a full set. If you're set chasing, yes, go go in on a hobby box because you're gonna get, you're guaranteed certain amount of base and then from there I would fill it in with just your singles at that point. So this is kind of where I was going with it. And I'll give you my opinion when, if you, if you PC Roman Reigns and it's only Roman Reigns, you're only interested in Roman Reigns cards. Yu-Gi-Oh That's who you're chasing. My advice, don't buy the hobby box because the chance of you pulling any Roman Reigns is going to be a lot less. Take that money you would have spent on the box, go buy the Roman Reigns card from the set that you want or another Roman Reigns card because that's who you're looking for and you're just going to get disappointed when you open the box and you pull a Charlotte Fleer auto. Right that being said, I think for me at least there are sets and, and different things I collect where I collect a lot, a lot of it within that set. And it's hard to chase everything on the secondary market from one particular set or box. Like for instance, take Marvel. I don't just PC Spider Man. I want Spider Man. I want some Venom. I want some Dr. Doom. I want some Thor. I want some, you know, whoever. So instead of going on ebay and searching all of those names and looking for all those cards, I may take a shot at a hobby box. Because I'm gonna get the base of a lot of those guys and then maybe I got a couple of refractors of them here and there. And I just, I'd like to have a nice variety of my PC for Marvel right now. In baseball I mostly collect only Mets. So I'm not gonna buy a hobby chasing a Juan Soto if the one. So it was 40 bucks, 50 bucks, just buy the Juan Soto. Right. But in, in, you know, I know and I know a lot of our friends, you know, they let, they collect a lot of different things within wrestling and a lot of different wrestlers. That gives them the opportunity to get more when you do rip. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh That's kind of where I was thinking with that. Yu-Gi-Oh the hobby isn't dying, it's just different than it was 20 years ago. Hobby's. I mean we've seen. It's definitely not dying, it's going up. You know, Fanatics goal and tops goal at the industry summit was to 10x the hobby and they're on their way of doing that. I mean this is what we're seeing now. I think the hobby. The hobby is more popular than it ever was. This might be the hot take. I think it shouldn't be called the hobby anymore because I don't think it's a hot. I don't think it's a hobby for everyone. I think for a lot of people it is now a business and it's a. And once you're starting to get into that, you know, thousands of dollars of cars and sales and flipping and whatever like you know, is buying a fifteen thousand dollar deal of cards and flipping them for hopefully eighteen. Is that, is that a hobby or is that just work? Is that a business? Yu-Gi-Oh but you know what I mean, you change the terminology or you know, you know, I don't know, I don't like to always stand on that soapbox because I don't want, I'm trying, not trying to be like a collector Elitist or anything, but. Well, I mean, it's, it's, it's always going to be different because I mean, look at this style of cards that are coming out now than they were 20 years ago. Now you got a mustard yellow parallel and a gold, you know, chicken nugget power parallel. Because that's ultimately, it's gotten so popular, they can't even keep up with the demand itself anymore. So you have to compensate, make millions of cards because you need to fill out a set because it's as popular as ever was. Right. Okay. Wrestling cards suffer from a lack of new talent each year. Yes. I say 100. Yes. Yu-Gi-Oh There's not enough popularity in rookies for them to be a chase. Like every year for every sport, it's always who's the rookie coming out and they become a chase. This year, basketball is popular as it is because of Cooper Flag. Right. You know, last year or two or whatever, a few years ago it was wembanyama in baseball. It's this year, heading into the year was Roman Anthony. Like, there's always a chase element then I also think too, like, the established guys can also grow. Like Aaron Judge four years ago is not Aaron Judge now. Right. Because of what he did on the field versus like a year ago. You know, is Roman Reigns that different than he was a year ago? Right. He might have a different title, but that's about it. That's about it. You know, so, like, how excited am I gonna get for another year of basically the same checklist with a different design and, you know, maybe one or two new names? I think, I think wrestling card suffers from that. I agree. Yu-Gi-Oh Next up. Breakers are the backbone of the hobby because they keep the card ecosystem flowing. Say that one more time. Breakers are the backbone of the hobby because they keep the card ecosystem flowing. I wouldn't call them the backbone of Bahavi. Okay. I, I look what I mean, what they do is of importance because again, if p. You know, in order to find some of the bigger cards out there, you gotta rip. So, like there's breakers that are literally breaking like a case a day. In instances they do 10 case breaks. Like, that's how we find like these debut patches and these like one of ones. And like, again, it adds to your collectibility because the more packs that get ripped if you're, you know, for me, for example, I'm a Dolph Ziggler fan. If people aren't opening and boxes sitting on the shelves, well, I, I can't fill out my collection of all the new stuff that's coming out. So in that essence, yes, they are of important, but no, because the pricing has gone up in part because of them. Yu-Gi-Oh Like, there was a huge price increase in boxes because of allocation now being split amongst, you know, hobby shops versus breakers. And, you know, then on top of that, when we see record sales, that also is going to contribute to that fact. So I think it's the combination of the breakers in the format that we're at now versus these record sales and Tops not wanting to leave money behind. But I wouldn't call them the backbone. I'd say they're like, you know, like the intestinal track. They're important. They're gonna guide the food out to your ass the same way they guard. They guide cards into your collections. Oh, got a lot of terminology today. I like that. Thank you. Tops now cards will have their moment 20 years from now as a nostalgic piece of the hobby. Yes. I love cards that commemorate moments in. In actual time. I. I know it doesn't get the love, but I love it. I do not. I could. I don't think it matters one bit. So did you. You didn't buy any Tops Now New York Knicks championship cards? No, I bought the Danhausen Cat 1 on the secondary market. All right. Because I thought that car was cool and I, I was cheaper on. It was cheaper on ebay than it was from Tops Direct. So I thought that was gonna be my gotcha moment. But though, I guess not. I. I don't. I don't need. I don't know. I. I don't. I just don't care about the moments. All right. Well, Yu-Gi-Oh I think it's cool. We are in the junk parallel era, and only certain staple refractors will matter. Facts, parallels literally do not mean unless you're a megastar athlete. You could pick up. You could go right now and pick up like Roman reigns prisms to 99 or out of 49 or like whatever for like next to nothing. Yu-Gi-Oh And I know because I bought those Roman reigns out of 99s for like 10 bucks. And he's. He's supposed to be one of the top guys. I don't think the numbering is much matters as much anymore. I think there are colors that are going to matter. I think gold, both in tops and Panini will always be Zebra important. Yep. I think gold, vinyl, Superfractor, those are. Will be important. Black, finite. The blacks will always be important. I think like, even like a, like a. In tops, like a true blue or a true red. Those have been around forever. Those will be important. But these like magenta and pink and pink diamond and sparkle and this, I don't think any of that shit's gonna matter. I don't think anyone's gonna look for that stuff. If they're really looking to, you know, invest in someone down the road or collect someone down the road, they're gonna, they're gonna want the, the staple colors. Of course. We'll do two more comms. Don't matter. If it's rare and sought after. People will pay whatever it takes. Facts, it doesn't mean. Are you a, are you a comp guy? When, when you, when you go around, you say, oh, well, you know, the comp was this. So depends on what it is. If I think comps are a nice way to make sure that you don't overpay on popular cards like, you know, or mass produced cards. Right. At the same time, how do cards even grow in value one-of-one If everyone's sticking to paying 80 all the time, eventually they can't. So someone has to Pay, you know, 90 or 100 or 110 for that card to go up. Yu-Gi-Oh I see it all the time. I mean, and especially in new releases, like, cards will start out at like 200 each, and then they dwindle all the way down to like $70. Because, you know, happened to you the other. A couple weeks ago with the Cedric Coward Glass card out of chrome, you got like 150 for it and now it's like a 75 card. Yep. You know, because if people keep paying under the comp, it's gonna go down. But at some point, like, Ohtani continues to go up and up and up and up and up. He never seems to stop. Every week it's a new record breaking sale for him. Yu-Gi-Oh Like for me, I only look at comps on stuff that I know is readily available and out there. Yu-Gi-Oh Or depending on the name, if I'm gonna buy a Topps Chrome, rear, Ripley to 99, I'm gonna look and see what the others have sold for. Because I'm, I don't want to pay 50 for a card that sold for 20. I think that's silly. Yu-Gi-Oh But if I'm at a show and I look at a case and I see a card I've never seen before or car, I don't think that shows up too often. And it's in my comfortability of like, what I want to pay. I don't even look at a comp. I don't care. I'LL just buy it. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I may not see that card again. And if I'm comfortable with the price, have at it. Or I'll be $10 more. Then you got $10 from me. I don't really care. I, I want the card. I get more protective over, like graded cards because, you know, of the minuscule pop levels of some of these cards. So, like, if I know I have a card and it's only a pop 10 or 15 and there's been like two sales. Well, the price that I'm putting it up there, that's what I want, whether you like it or not. Now, I'm not gonna gouge and be like, oh, I'm gonna hold it hostage for a thousand bucks for a true 500 card. But I'm gonna ask maybe for like 700 and maybe I'll look at offers in like the 6 to 650 range, but I'm not gonna match because that's what the Life sold for. I don't have to. Plus knowing what's on ebay. I've done it before where I put cards on ebay that are higher than the COP because there's none other available at the time. Right. If I need to adjust, I'll just adjust it. If I need to take it down, I'll take it down. But exactly how do people expect for values to grow if everyone's paying 80 to 90 all the time? It's true. You can't. So it's last one, Upper Deck. Yu-Gi-Oh cards will be as nostalgic and sought after in 15 years as BBM cards are now. Oh, man. And that's for the, and in my opinion, for the hardcore fan or collector. I, to me, I think those, those two companies have very similar trajectories where I think they're going to be people that are Yu-Gi-Oh loyalists and Yu-Gi-Oh fans and they love Yu-Gi-Oh and the people that, you know, grew in there and in 10 years from now, they're going to look back at the earlier sets and want to get those cards and they're going to care about the earliest cards of those people. The same way that people do that with BBM Japanese cards now where they, they want the Omega rookies and they want the early Okadas and guys like that. And then there are people who collect wrestling. I can care less about BBM because to them it's a Japanese card. They don't give a. They, they weren't nostalgic about that then. They don't care. It's the earliest version of it. They like Kenny Omega, they want the Upper Deck. Yu-Gi-Oh I. That's how I feel about, you know, I think. I don't think Upper Deck Yu-Gi-Oh cards are going to be looked at as within, like, the hobby as a whole, as like a nostalgic thing. I think it's going to be a very specific collector that views it. I think it. I mean, it depends where AWS at in 15 years? Do they still exist? Are they. Are they the number one company in the world out of nowhere? Like, well, it depends what's gonna. I'll give you that. I didn't think of that. It's all predicated on where Yu-Gi-Oh is going to be at that time. That is going to make it nostalgic or not. I think it will. Like, people will go back to be like, oh, that was MJF's first car. Now his career is over. He's one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. I do want his rookie. Yu-Gi-Oh Like, Yu-Gi-Oh I think people might not get nostalgic about the set, but they'll get nostalgic about talent. So, like, maybe people go back to say, all right, where are the young bucks in the goat conversation for tag teams? Where's Kenny Omega in the goat conversation, period? In terms of technical ability, like, I think people will collect their favorites no matter what. And I still think it'll be a popular set, especially the inaugural set. The inaugural anything always becomes popular. So the first one will always have a special place in people's hearts and people are going to want those cards. Well said. I think we can leave it off.
