Foreign. Yeah. So. All right, well, this. Another turn back the clock topic here. This. This episode will, I'm guessing, will probably come out based on the schedule, probably before the national. And I think I told you through text, I am, believe it or not, I'm actually going to the national this year. I thought after the 20. I had a great time in the 2023 National. It was awesome experience. But I came away with it thinking, like, that might be it for me, you know, not because it wasn't a great time, just for a bunch of other reasons, I think, like, that was. That was great. I don't, you know, I think that might be it, though, for me for going to something that big, you know, but this year it was kind of on a whim, and my wife was like, you should go to that. You know, go. I was like, I don't know, you know, and then I was like, well, I'll book a flight, a refundable flight. I'll book a refundable hotel just in case, you know, in case something comes out. I get a lot. A lot of things going on where last minute, it could have unfortunately caused me to not be able to go. But as of now, I am going to go. I'm going to just go for a short period of time, couple days. And yeah, I didn't think I would do that again. But I am excited. I'm excited for it. Honestly, the thing I'm least excited about this was probably gonna sound crazy. The least excited about is the show, about actually, like, waiting in line because I don't even have a ticket yet. The VIP thing, I don't have a ticket to the show, so I'm assuming I can get a general admission ticket online still, but I don't based on what I've seen in prior shows. It's. It's a pretty long wait, right, to get it. I don't have a lot of patience, so I don't know. They're always gonna. They're not gonna stop selling tickets, right? They'll always have tickets, but I think anyway. But yeah, so I want to go this year because of Sports Card Clubhouse. You know, started Sports Card Clubhouse. I think it's. It's been fun. I've never met Greg in person. Only met Mike a couple times. I've never met Jeremy Lee in person. A lot of people, you know, contributors Tony Southern, collector, Mike Petty, Jake. Jake and Matt from Province actually met at the Northeast Card. Oh, yeah, Expo. I got a cool picture of those. I don't think I'll Send it to you. But I went by the booth and took a picture with them. And the number one dealer in New England got to take a picture. All I want to do is go to one of the show he's in and just like asking for free cards. Like, just give him a hard time. Just make his life miserable for like 10 minutes. Yeah, yeah. But no, I. I want to go to, you know, have Greg sign my book Midlife card collecting stories. I want Jeremy Lee to. Boy, this is a heavy one. Pops and comps. He's gonna sign my book, I hope at the national. And then. This is funny. I got. I got this Luca Doncha card. You won't know, but you can't tell. But in the background of this Luca card 20, 24 prism, I believe is Chris from Card Ladder. No way. There he is. No way. Look. Oh, my gosh, that's sick. This is a. I think this is a finals game. Maverick Celtics. Chris is in the. In the stands in the right. But he's a big Luca collector and he's in the background of the card. That's too much. And there's a Celtic in there. Peyton Pritchard's on the card too. So if I. I hope I can see Chris at the. Maybe the card ladder booth and I want him to sign this card for me. Genius. That's my big regret. Chris guys were at the. The show on the west coast and I didn't go up to the table. I didn't realize that they were there. I was, yeah, you know, in my zone. I didn't go by that. That year either, you know, so. But just. Yeah, more of just meeting. Meeting up with Guy. I don't even really have cards that I'm like looking for or anything like that. So it's kind of up in the air. But yeah, I was surprised in myself that I'm going to do it, but I am looking forward to it. So I just wanted to mention that. Is the flight for you? Oh, not bad. It's a lot easier too, coming from last time. I was Arizona to Chicago was longer than where I am in Massachusetts to Chicago. It's probably three hours maybe. Dude, if you're within a three hour flight, there's no excuse not to go to the National. No. Yeah. For me, I'm. I. When I go to a card show, it's like. I don't know if you guys can remember going to Toys R Us when you're a kid, but when you were on the way to Toys R Us in the car, you're one of their, one of your friend's mom was driving you Toys R Us. Your heart's pounding, you're getting sweaty, you're getting all excited. You're walking through this. The doors that open up and there's a long hallway and then you walk in and it's just like, dude, that's what I feel when I go to card shows, even if they're little. Like, we have one card show a year over here at the mall and it's all pokey, pokey man stuff and I love it. I walk in and it's like, I'm with my people, I'm with card collectors. I get that. I get the warm fuzzies. I get all my heart starts pumping before I get there on the way the drive there. So. So I don't understand anyone who lives within close enough to go to the national, who's not going to the national. It blows my mind. Even if you go, don't go for a day, I know you're not into the card show itself and you don't really like being around all those people. Man, I love it. I like feed off all these collectors. I'm like nudging my way in the room. Like, I want to see every card. Like I, you know, But I do have a limit and two days at a card show is my limit. Like, one day is ideal. I. I could just, if I lived close to the national or close to the west coast, I just go one day and I would get really drunk at night with all my friend, car collecting friends and have the best night of my life. And then the next day I'd wake up, maybe have breakfast with some of them hungover, and then I would get in the car and I would be done. That would be it. Because the second day, after the second day, I'm like, not only am I homesick, but I'm literally homesick when I'm really far away, west coast. I wasn't homesick because it's like four for a five hour flight. I'm like, oh, it's easy. But at that point I'm like, I'm hungover. I'm like, oh, I've already seen all these cards. Like, do I want to go to every table again and look at all these cards? Like, well, I'm half energized, you know. Only way to get the energy going again is like, drink some more and do the night again. But to me, going to those card shows with all my friends, it's like, it's like Las Vegas. It's like going to the. It's like the greatest to me. It's like going to Toys R Us when I was a kid again. But even more, it's like Toys R Us on crack, because I know I'm gonna not only have a great day, but I'm gonna have cocktails at night and I'm gonna get drunk with all my card friends and have crazy conversations about baseball cards. It just. Oh, I love it. I'm jealous. Everyone that's going. No one's talking about the national this year, which I'm, you know, I'm kind of stoked on because I'm not going where people are still talking about Strongsville. And I want to, like, put a gun to my head when people talk about Strongsville. Okay. I have to say that they're saying Strongville again. Yeah. There's a lot. It seems like there's a lot more buildup in. In the vintage card community for Strongsville, you know, video preview videos than the national. Maybe those. You know, as we get closer, maybe it'll be. But we're already close. It's, you know, at the time of us making this video, it's a few weeks away, so. Talking about their pickups, I don't know, am I missing them? No one's talking about their targets. Everyone's scared to. Everyone's scared these days to tell the targets. I'm like, dude, come. What are we just. You can tell people your targets. It's only going to help your cause. You know, you're. You know, we don't have millions of followers. You know, maybe a grade says his targets. But if I say. If I were to go. And I was saying my targets, no one's gonna, like, jump on the bandwagon and, like, grab my target cards. Right. I'm all like, lou Rock's always scared to say his targets. I'm like, dude, come on, set your targets. There's way more people in the community that are going to help you find those targets. Yeah. Rather than get inspired by your target and go after the same target card as you. Yeah. I was gonna say, I think you have a better chance of it actually working in your favor where you. It might. If it's a rarer card, it might surface because you mention it more than someone just gonna be like, no, I'm gonna snake that from. From Dylan. You know, totally 100. I'm mistaken that I'm gonna sell it to him. Like, yeah, no one's watching my. No one's gonna be watching my Channel, you know, no one's. I, I, I want to hear everyone's pickup. So if you're out there listening, Lou rock, everybody. If you're going to the national, I don't know if Lou's going, but if you're going to the national, I want to hear what you're going for. I love those types of videos. I want to hear your Target card. And if you don't get a thousand views on your video every week, don't worry about sharing your things. It's only going to help your cause by sharing it. Speaking of that though, that was one thing that really was like at that northeast card show that I went to tables, like legacy cards. Ash, Ash wasn't there, but I think, you know, his sons were there. The, the amount of 52 mantles in their show. I mean, and then you go on Instagram, not just single them out, but like there's some dealers that they have so many, like 52 mantles and just, it's amazing the inventory that some of these dealers have. And I'm sure it's going to be like on steroids at the national. Just seeing some of these showcases where it's like where prices are right now. Dude, you got, you got. Some of these showcases are mil. Get millions of dollars in cards just in a showcase. It's just crazy. And then there's endless amounts of showcases. So I don't want touch on that. I don't want to like, say it's easy to be a dealer because it's a heck of a lot of work. Everything. There's no such thing as any easy street. But it is much easier in a bull market to bring a whole bunch of money and buy up all the Mickey Mouse 52 tops and know you're going to be able to make a percentage on those as long as you flip them fast enough. And you could just buy up all these cards. Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy, buy. Buy. Lay them out on your table. I don't see a, a talk about good collectors. I don't not, I'm not poo pooing on Ash or anyone like that. There's nothing wrong. They could do whatever they want. But, but when I look at a table, I don't look at a dealer who has a whole bunch of 52 tops and go, this is a great dealer. This guy's the man. This is a great dealer. No, he just bought all they, they had more money than the guy next to him who has less valuable cards. But I might be buying the cards from the less valuable tail, like that guy might be my favorite dealer of the show. I don't instantly gravitate to a dealer who has all these crazy expensive cards. I gravitate to just any dealer who has a card I'm looking for. And it doesn't have to be. It's not going to be a five thousand dollar card or a fifty thousand. Gonna be a two hundred card, you know. I know totally off topic. But we're talking about shows and that's how I see it. I'm curious to see what happens when the market does come crashing down. What's going to happen? Because it is easy to buy Mickey mantle 52 tops card right now and buy for 50 grand and sell 55 grand. What's going to happen when you're in a downward spiral and dealers that have been buying massive cards, what's going to happen? You're going to be holding the bag on some of these. I don't know, I'd be scared. So I was that. That's kind of where I was thinking of that too is how's it going to. We know like again we've been through multiple cycles now. You've been through a lot more, you know. But just. Even if he came back in 2020 or 2021, this is kind of your like your second go around. Like you saw, you saw the one big boom and then came down and then we're up again. I'll call that, I'll call that 23. Is it 23 when everything came crashing down? Yeah, yeah, right around. Yeah. 22, 23, something like that. I don't call, I don't call that a dip. I call that a full blown like 2008 crash. Yeah, that stuff went. When you have a $10,000 card that goes to $1,000, you know, the base cards. Yeah, it was certain crashing down huge. But a lot of people call that a blip at the time. If you watch the videos, it was a 2008 financial crisis crash in the stock in the card market. So if you lived through that was the biggest blip that I've seen in the card world even, you know, maybe because I wasn't buying big cards in 94 when we had the big crash. You know, maybe I wasn't buying big cards in certain other ones, but that to me was a monster. Wasn't a blip, it wasn't anything. It was a huge crash. Everyone thought the card world was over except for some, but over. So if you live through that and you're still in It. Congratulations. Because to me that was. It's going to happen again. Of course it's got. That's what I was going to say. It's going to happen again. We know it is. Right. Because like even we're talking Mickey Mantle cards. Right. For example, the 56 mantle, like on a previous episode that we talked about, it's gone up significantly over the last even just six months. Year. There's gonna come a time it just can't keep going. There's gonna. Yes, in 30 years, I think the. Or 25 or 30 years, something like that, this card will be worth more money than it is now. I think so. Right. But there's gonna be a period where it's worth probably less than it is right now. Too many multiple times. I. It just can't keep. Continue to go up without coming down a little. I'll fight you on this. I look at it differently. A lot of guys will kind of probably have the same thoughts as you. I look at a Mickey Mantle card and I look at a 56 Mickey Mantle card and say it was worth $2,000 a year ago and now it's worth 3,000. I don't, I don't see a cap on where it can go. I think just like in 2023 when things came crashing down, it's going to be a certain segment of the hobby, certain players, certain segments, certain cards that got so overheated. And I've said it, I said a year ago, I said, I give three years till the Pokemon market crashes, the entire sports card hobby. And I, you know, we're one year into that prediction. I don't want it to come true. I want it to go to the moon forever. I want Pokemon to go forever. I want One Piece to go forever. I want these cards that are in this, what I consider bubble stage to keep going because it's bringing up everything else. I don't see the 56 mantle being lower than what it is today ever though. Like, like for example, this one, this PSA two, nice looking two. I think right now it sells for somewhere between 1500 and 2000 bucks. Okay. You don't think there'll ever be a time that, you know, I think this card will go up over time, but you don't think it's gonna. If things crap. You don't think it's gonna go down lower than fifteen hundred dollars. I. I don't think you'll see a big crash in a card like that. I don't think you'll see that card. You put it down in the history books say that's a 1500 card right now, I don't see that card being lower than 1200 bucks ever again. In the right eye appeal, there's going to be ones that are run over in twos. But when you're buying proper cards, you're buying the right cards. There's certain segments of the hobby that crash and that's how it has always been. And it isn't the whole stock market that crashes. When the stock market crashes, the dividend, the Pepsis, those go up. And eventually when you have a financial crisis, then those come down as well. But there's things that rise during crashes just like everything. And I think cards like that, we're gonna hold their ground and, and I don't think it's gonna go from 1500 to $700 ever again. And that doesn't mean that the card market's not gonna crash. But I just think that to me, still undervalued those mantles. Lots of cards, lots of good looking vintage cards are still undervalued in my opinion. And also modern cards, lots of modern cards are still undervalued. But some have gone out of control. Things have gotten out of control. But I don't, I don't see a place where it's just everything comes crashing down all at once. I'd like to go on the record. I do, I do. I think, I think let's like I'm 45. I'm going to be 45 actually in a few weeks. Actually, I think I'll be at the National. No, right before the National. But I think that let's say within, let's say, you know, 25, 30 years from now. I think that's why I think it's impressive when you, when you see someone who's held a card or certain cards for 30 years, 40 years, 50 years. Like, hey, I've had this certain Mickey Mantle card since, you know, 1985 or whatever or, or since. In 30 years from now. I've had this since 2012. I think that's impressive because inherently it's going to be. There were times when the card was, was up and then it's going to be cards times when like, you know, cards were way low. So I actually think even a 52 mantle think the ones now, they're like the cheapest ones that are selling for whatever, 40,000 bucks or something. 30, 40,000, I think. I don't know when it will be. It could be next week, it could be five years from now. It could be 10 years. I think there will be a period where they're gonna crash and it won't be because cards aren't awesome. It's just gonna be something. Something's gonna happen. We don't know what it is. Hopefully nothing too bad, but there's gonna be something where cards are gonna go down significantly. And then I do think at some point then, then they'll go up even higher than they were, you know, But I do, I think it's just if you look over a period of 30 years, odds are something's going to happen that's going to cause the value of even the best cards to really go down a lot. And that's why I think the people that hold those cards during that period, they'll be rewarded if they're able to hold those cards and not sell in panic type thing. So anyway, I want to go on the record, you know. Well, I do disagree on, on some of the premise there, but I also, I, I also can see that as well as a possibility because things just move faster now. If you look at the card market before, you know, six years ago or seven years ago, it just was like a rise, barely, you know, 2% a year for so long. Now with the way the world moves so fast, you got, you know, Ohtani hits a home run, his car skyrocket. Yeah, highs and lows. And it's just way more volatile than it used to be. Even vintage. Not just newer vintage cards are volatile too. And that's what I, I foresee. So, you know, the point is, you know, be if you plan on holding, like a lot of guys are like kind of say, you know, I plan on holding this card for. Told them like 70 years old, 75. That's great. Just be prepared when there might be a time when, you know, things are not going so well. And you know, in the long run, I think cards will always go up in the big picture. But anyway, that, that's. We. I think we've hit our time here, Dylan, for this episode now, so I'm gonna wrap it. Any last thoughts though, man? I want to keep talking about it. I know you gotta leave and wanting some more, man. Or if there's anyone out there that wants. I love, you know, I love talking about value cards. I freaking love it. And you're not, not a collector when you talk about value. And I'm a guy that doesn't need all my cards to go up in value, but I do buy a car wanting to stay at least the same, but hoping it goes up. I've been like that since the very beginning, since I was 6, 7 years old. I've proven it with my, my highlighted Bible, high grade price guides. You know, like, I'm not lying when I say this. Value has always been a connector for me in cards since the very beginning, and I don't see a problem in it. All right, well done. We're definitely going to do an episode when I get back from the national. Not long after. We'll talk. We'll talk about the national. Do you want me to make any type of videos at the national? Like, do I want you to make a video? Is it just going to annoy you that, like, hey, Adam. Oh, great, you know, Adam's at the national. Good for you. Please. I want to see people's lives. Those are because I feel like I'm there. It brings me in. I'm not. I don't really care about people videoing car tables, tables. It does nothing to me, okay? It means nothing to me. I want to hear the stories. I want to see collectors together, all my friends hanging out. I want to see stuff like that. Okay, well, I'll try to do that. And guys, thanks for watching. Leave the comments down. Any thoughts, any questions? And Dylan, thanks again. I always appreciate you coming on with me. It's early Hawaii time, so thanks for doing that. See ya. Okay, later. Turn back the clock. Turn back the clock. Turn back the clock Turn back the clock.
