I know we didn't talk about Nap island last week, and part of that was because all of us still had Pokemon that were still napping. Like, once you nap, you can't really do anything. So we kind of were waiting until those were done. They're done now. The Pokemon center in Mega Tokyo is gonna reopen and Then we talked about last week. Okay, we've talked about this in like two parts. One part was how there might be facial recognition or buying cards in Japanese stores. And then last week we talked about how the government, a certain part of the government in Japan wants to regulate cards. There's a whole new thing here which is more face. We're getting. I think we're getting very close to them trying to solve a problem that maybe they may or may not have an answer to. There's an update to that. We're gonna talk about that again. I mean, the last time that I was playing, like, the TCG or anything in person was when base set was new. Yu-Gi-Oh I was like 11 and going to, like, you know, play TCG at, like, the local board game shop because they had Pokemon cards and stuff. Otherwise, I play online and stuff, but I don't play. I've never really played in person. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I've definitely looked into going to one, but still, surprise, surprise. They're all pretty far away. That makes sense for you. Yu-Gi-Oh Next to the airport, right? Yu-Gi-Oh Yep. See, when did I get back in? So I started going to a Play Pokemon store. It was. It was a store in Milwaukee called Board Game Barrister. Nice. And I went near the end of Heart Gold, Soul Silver before Black and White came out. So I think the set they were, the Legends cards were still being used. Nice. Well at, like, a casual level because none of those Legend cards were actually, like, good. No one's using those. It was, like, undaunted. I don't remember, like, the last Heart, Gold, Soul Silver, but then, like, the black and white stuff started coming out. And that in itself opened my eyes of, like, oh, they do tournaments here. This is like, they do pre releases. They have re. You could earn points. I don't think I got any, like, prizes or anything. Sometimes you would get, like, the cards with the little, like, Play Pokemon thing on them. That was like, that was a thing. But I do remember originally when they started this whole program, which was probably what Bobby was talking about, like, at Toys R Us. And then you would get, like, the little Boulder badge pin and then the Cascade badge. Right. And I think to this day, I'm assuming they did all eight badges from Kanto, but I feel like I've never seen anyone with anything past the Cascade badge. I'm sure they exist, but I never got that far. It would be weird to leave them out, but I'm sure they did it. Yu-Gi-Oh probably. I'm sure you could go on ebay and probably find them all. I have the Wilder badge in the Cascade. I did find them recently. You actually found them. Are they next to your giratina? No, no, no, no, no. I get carried away. The giratina is definitely in this office. The Cascade badge, Boulder badge for the basement. I have a. I have a great. I have a hot take. They're pretty rare on the show, actually. I never have hot takes. Ever. Sure. I don't like acrylic standees. I think they're junk, all of them. Anime, Pokemon, Japanese, English. I just don't like them. I don't know why. I did two pieces of plastic and then you, like, they come flat and then you. You put the one in and then they're standing up and I just. I never want them. They just don't seem very controversial. It's not your take. I feel like in the anime world, they're very popular. And especially in, like, Japanese culture, they're very popular. Like. Oh. Like, if you go to the Pokemon center in Japan, they got acrylic standees of something. Always, like, always new ones. Like, I think some of the recent ones were the gym leaders of Paldea that you could like. I don't want a brassiest standee, you know, with all this junk behind me. None of it is a standee. I don't have a single one. So I think your point stands. They're not very good. I just. I think there's just better things. You. I would rather have a stickers, like, not the. Although these sticker sheets are maybe like a turn off. Like, I want. Like, when I think of stickers, I want, like, a high quality vinyl sticker that if I slap on a cup, it's gonna survive the dishwasher. I'm starting to think my entire life revolves around what can or cannot go in the dishwasher. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh You're talking to me about wanting to play golf and have foldable phones. Yu-Gi-Oh Look at you over there with figuring your life out, surrounding the dishwasher. Yu-Gi-Oh but a good vinyl sticker is a good vinyl sticker. Right? You don't want to put, like, a sticker on your. Your. Your water bottle, and then all of a sudden, it gets disintegrated in the. The dishwasher. You dishwasher water bottles. I only buy things that can go in the dishwasher. So to answer your question, yes. I don't know. The last time I washed my water bottle. It's probably been a minute. What do you mean? Wait, hold on. Are you hand washing your water bottles? Yu-Gi-Oh Are you dishwashing? Yu-Gi-Oh we dishwash, too. Because dishwasher is more water efficient. Yu-Gi-Oh well, you know, hand wash some. Some water bottles. And don't think about this. Look, we have a lot of water bottles. We have a lot. Put some hot water in the bottle, shake it around, dump it out, good to go. You know, I'm not against a little bit more than that, but we got a lot of water bottles in this house because my kids and my wife love water bottles. I'm not. I'm a. I'm a. I'm a glass. I'm a glass half full guy. An open container is crazy, Bobby. What's wrong with an open container? I don't know. It feels like it needs a lid. Only if I'm driving. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh you don't want to take an open cup in a car. That's crazy. No, but I did spill an orange soda on my white MacBook when I was in college, and that was unfortunate. Okay, that's like, not even top three worst things you could spill on a Mac book. I think milk is milk. Milk is probably like. Oh, that would be awful. Milk is like, one or two that you could spill on a computer. Yu-Gi-Oh but who's got a giant glass of milk next to their computer? Somebody out there is drinking milk right now. Yu-Gi-Oh What if you're slamming a box of Oreos? I was thinking they're eating their Wheaties, drinking some milk, watching. Listen to the podcast. No one's. Yu-Gi-Oh don't say that. Someone is. Monday morning, I guess. Yu-Gi-Oh Eating your cereal with your milk. You spill the whole bowl on your laptop. I guess. You got Wheaties and milk in your laptop. Yu-Gi-Oh That's pretty gross. Hey, orange soda wasn't great. And it was a white laptop, so then it was an orange laptop. Yu-Gi-Oh I think a lot of that can be cleaned up with, like, an alcohol whip. I don't know. It worked for a couple Years. And then I got a job at Apple, and then they just swapped it out for me for free. Because that was real cool. We were real cool about that back then. Back in the day. Back in the day, when the employees swapped all their stuff for free, Tim. Apple didn't care about profit margins. Yep. one-of-one these standees are pretty small. I thought they, you know, looking at the image of them by themselves, I thought they'd be bigger. But then with the ladies holding everything, they're really small. That's my last take on the standees. They are like, all this stuff is free, and I think it's. It's good that they provide free stuff. Yu-Gi-Oh well, that's why it's not a big vinyl sticker, because you're not buying it. Calm down. Just. This company can mass produce vinyl stickers for. For sense here. I don't like if I'm thinking of, like, small, free things that I would prefer. I think the pins were great. Like, bring back the Boulder badge. Bring. Well, maybe not the Boulder Cascade Rainbow. Maybe not those. Upgrade a little bit, but you can buy one on eBay for $10. Okay. I think. I think. I think badge. I think pins are fun. I think. I think keychains are fun. Acrylic standees kind of bottom of my list. Yu-Gi-Oh they are. They do take up more space. Even if they are smaller, they're still a space taker. Whereas a pin or a keychain just kind of like, it's nice, compact and kind of, you know, toss it somewhere if you want or not. But even with a pin and a chain, you can, like, put on your bag and then go to league with it. On your bag. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Well, hear me out. The standees are small enough, you could punch a hole through them and just put it on a keychain. No, it's acrylic. It's going to instantly, like, shatter when you try to. Yu-Gi-Oh don't do that. You don't punch a hole through your standee. You could, like, fold them down and then, like, set them up when you're at league. There's only three of them right now. Right. Everybody have the same thing. It's not, like, unique. I mean, sure, Yu-Gi-Oh This segment has gone on too long. Fire and chill. So much better. The Summer Marathon Arctic Ember events in Pokemon Go. This episode should come out on the August 3rd. Yes, this episode comes out on August 3rd. So this event starts on August 4th, and it goes until Monday, August 10th. For the first time in go, you'll be able to encounter A shiny Snom. If you're lucky. Yes. You may also encounter Snom. When you complete the Go pass, you may hatch Snom from eggs. Increased shiny chance of Ponyta, Slugma, Snover, and Vanillite. And then it said Pokemon will be alternating through days during the event. So Ponyta and Snover will be the 4th, Snow, 6, 8th, and 10th, and Slugma and Vanillite will be 5, 7, 9, and also 10. So you're all four on the 10th. Other. Sure. That's just. What do we have? That's what they say. Yu-Gi-Oh There's a lot to like. Well, what. What about. Okay, so what about the Vulpix and alone Vulpix and like, all of that stuff is not. They're not boosted, nor. Oh, these are just the boosted ones that. Here. Okay. Yes. Got it. Yes. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Vulpix is not boosted. Tier 1 bonus for your Go Pass is 2 times the catch XP. I haven't heard any updates from that. So, Yu-Gi-Oh they solved that. The following Pokemon will hatch from 5k eggs. Sneasel, Darumaka, Galarian, Darumaka, Sizzlopede, Snom. If you're lucky, you may. All of those can be shiny. And then there will be timed research that will give you. Oh, wait, is this the new time research where you will get an encounter with a Pikachu wearing the Marathon Visor. So this is the second time they're doing the Marathon visor, which was what, like a hundred? How many? It was all. It was a lot of walking. You had to do a hundred kilometers. Was it 100 kilometers? Because I didn't do it. Because I was. I didn't do it here. I don't think it was that much, though. I. It was a lot, though. It was so I think. Was it like a Marisol? Was it like 26 miles worth of walking? That'd be too easy. 26 miles. Well, I guess so. It depends over how much time it says for. Okay, the A.I. gosh, I hate that. That's the first thing the A.I. overview is saying 42 kilometers in a week. That sounds like 26 miles. Right? I know. Europe right now is. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh 42 kilometers is 26 miles. So, Yu-Gi-Oh it is a marathon. All right. And the Reddit post was from two months ago. Shiny Marathon visor Pikachu from 42 kilometer time research. That'd be a rare one. Well, this is the second time they're doing it. Right. But I'm saying then it was a rare. Like, that was a rare one then. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh So I didn't do the 42. The first. I don't remember what was happening. I think it was, like, thunderstorms or bad. I'm pretty sure it was bad weather when the first Marathon Pikachu happened. Right. But I should be able to do it this time. Actually, I. I was. I thought. I just thought Fire. Fire and Chill was, like, a good name of the event. It's not the name of the event. That's just what I'm calling it. That being said, the fact that I get a second chance at Summer Marathon Pikachu, because I. I'm really into Go right now. I think Go is in such a good spot. I would agree, actually. Yu-Gi-Oh There's definitely a lot going on in it, for sure. But I feel like that's been. I mean. Yu-Gi-Oh I guess it has its ups and its downs. Right. I mean, and for both of you, you live in areas where, like, the winter is somewhat unplayable. Unless you're, like, going and playing inside a lot. Yu-Gi-Oh So I feel like a lot of people come out of winter and they're like, yes, I can play this game again. It's great. It feels like it's a nice uplift of Pokemon Go in my life. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh But no, I mean, there's. Every time I open the app, it's like, well, there's nine different things to do, you know? Like, it's. There's plenty going on in that game. I think it also helped. I, like, leveled up recently, but now. Now I'm, like, being punished by Team Rocket, and I have to do 80 more grunts. It's ridiculous. I can't believe they went and, like, doubled down on, like, what they did to us before. I know. It's interesting, too, because when I. I think 75 to 76 is, like, 300 kilometers slash 100 Team Rocket grunts. And I remember my Twitch chat being like, oh, man, 300 kilometers is so much. And I was like, no. That's like. I think this is the difference. I think some People probably, like, live in apartments or live close enough where they can probably do two to three grunts a day in their apartment. Yu-Gi-Oh Or they're. Or they're just always hitting the balloons when the balloons show up, Right. Me, I'm like, maybe hitting one balloon a day because I, like, look at it. I'm like, oh, I don't want to do it. And then when I'm out and about, because I was out for, what, six hours on Sunday, I probably could have done 20 to 25 grunts easy. I didn't do any. Like, I just. I would just stop. Rather walk. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't want to stop and do it. Yu-Gi-Oh walk. The encounters. Other. Anything other than the team rocket. Yu-Gi-Oh Like. Like walking was the 300 kilometers is like, nothing. Like, that's right. I. I'll give me 600. No rocket grunts and we have a deal. I try to do my. Like what? I try to do one rocket grunt a day. When I wake up and the balloon flies over, I'll try to do one, but that's about as far as I'm going. See, my issue is I always forget to unequip the. The thing that makes it be one of the leaders. That's the worst, too. Yu-Gi-Oh So then it popped. The balloon pops up, and I'm like, oh, sweet. And then I click, and it's like, it's one of the leaders. I don't need to do those right now. Like, the leaders don't count as grunts. They don't count as grunts. So it's like I kind of unequip. And then when you unequip, that balloon doesn't change to a grunt. Like, Yu-Gi-Oh you got to wait till the next one pops up and it's like, Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh the struggles. Yu-Gi-Oh I guess. Fire and chill starting the day after this comes out. And a second chance at Marathon Pikachu. So that's exciting. And get on those snom if you can, because, like, it's 400 candy to evolve it into frost moth, so. Oh, I forgot. Good call. And what I will say, I was surprised by how much stuff I got from that. I didn't think I'd get that much. To be fair, I did use the. What was it? The nap ticket or whatever it's called? Yu-Gi-Oh But I got a lot of stuff from it, so I was happy. Wait, do you have a triple League Farfetch'd? No, it's only got two, but it's the best I had. Yu-Gi-Oh it's the best I had. I get it. I get it. We. You didn't have to use the nap ticket, did you? It gave you. No, you had. Yu-Gi-Oh there was Reddit threads about people trying to get around it. There was no. It forced you to use it, really? Okay. I didn't even try not to. I just was like, oh, I might as well. Yu-Gi-Oh I was going to use it probably no matter what. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh no, the. It was. It was forced. Um, Bobby, how was your nap experience? Who did you send? I sent Clod Sire over. I know. Kind of a weird choice, but I have it at, like, it's getting close to 60, and I've got triple chocolate, so. And I was. It was salads, so I was like, I don't need this chocolate. Okay, send Clod Sire over and get it closer to 60. I mean, we all got the same experience. We all got like, what, 4800. Yes, something like that. 4500. Whatever it was. Yu-Gi-Oh I sent Drampa triple soybean. There you go. So my. I. I did the math. My Drampa went from 30 to 35, which was accurate according to the calculators I used. Huh. That was. We were all forced to use the ticket. And then I think if I did the math again, it would go from 35 to 38 if I was to send it another week with a camp ticket. And then it just gets worse and worse every time. Right? Yu-Gi-Oh I did this math like, a week ago. I did it on stream, but I think I would have had to send Drampa every week or nine weeks with the $11 ticket to get from 30 to 60. Because. Because the XP exponentially. Right. You need more just to go up one level as you get higher and higher. Right, right. And then if I didn't use the ticket, it would take about six months. Oh, my God. Seriously? I'M not. I did the math on stream because there's like a calculator in the. The rain X or however you say that website's name. Yu-Gi-Oh 6. It would take six months to go from 30 to 60 and that's a long time. Like, I don't want to sound like I'm complaining about Nap Island. I think it's like there is no downside. It's just free experience for one pokem. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh absolutely. And you get free rewards and they did the thing where they offered you a free ticket and you. Unless you, you're not getting that experience every week. Unless you're paying for it, which I don't think anyone should. I don't. I don't think it's like price wise. I just don't think it's worth it at all. Even if you're a whale? I. I don't necessarily think it's worth it. I think if you're a whale, you probably should just buy growth incense instead. I think because your whole team is getting that and you can do that on like a Sunday night. Yu-Gi-Oh no, I think there's definitely like better things to buy, but to your point, it is just like an extra feature. And if you have Pokemon that you're not. You have a Pokemon you're not using that week, you're just getting it experience for free and then getting stuff. So like, I understand that and I kind of get that. They wouldn't want. They don't want it to be a way that you're like so quickly leveling up a Pokemon. Right. Like, I wouldn't expect, I wouldn't want like Drampa to go from 30 to 60 in like a month. Yu-Gi-Oh It just feels like they don't want to like make it that easy. The moment they make it that easy, the game's dying. Yu-Gi-Oh So what you're saying is when they do make it that easy. Yu-Gi-Oh The game, you might as well stop spending money on it. Yu-Gi-Oh They'll. They'll push the Mewtwo button and then they'll make it Zebra easy to level up on Nap island and then we'll know it's over. But Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, for some free stuff every week for a Pokemon that you're not using. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm not mad about it. And the animation's real cute. The Munch. There's a Munchlax animation when you bring the Pokemon back. I can't remember what Munchlax does, but it does something that's real cute and that's Worth. That's worth the feature. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't even remember what it is. I don't remember what it was, but I was like, oh, that's real cute. I remember thinking that. So did you guys do what I did? And I put a Pokemon on Nap island on Sunday night. And then I thought, well, I don't know what I'm getting Monday morning and I like the meal wise. So I don't want to put a new Pokemon back in on Sunday night until after I've determined island and meal. No, I didn't do that. I took the Pokemon out of Nap island this morning. Monday morning. So after you've Beckett But after you Beckett I Beckett New Island. I had my new meals and everything. And then I put a Pokemon on and then I took my Pokemon back and then put a new Pokemon on. Okay, okay, okay. Because I bought, I brought my Pokemon back. I brought Drampa back on Sunday night. And then I was like, oh, I'll send Drampa again. And then I was like, wait, I don't know if I'm gonna get Dragonberry if I go to Expert. I don't know if I need the soybeans. Yu-Gi-Oh So I waited until Monday and then I kind of forgot. And then it was like Monday afternoon. I was like, oh, I should have sent. I've one-of-one I should have just kept ramp up there. There was really no reason for me to pull him back. Sure. They said it needed to be about seven days. So does that mean that you now have like your. Now your limit is Monday afternoons? Mm. Because like they said about seven days. So I wasn't sure if that meant like six days and 11 hours. Oh, I don't know. I, I guess I'll find out next week if I try to pull them back at like 8am instead of like 5. Yu-Gi-Oh Because now, now you're, you're continuously like potentially moving yourself forward like at least a few minutes every time. Right. Because you're probably not going to hit it exactly on the dot every week. Oh no. I'm gonna have to like set an alarm. Sucks. Yu-Gi-Oh Monday night. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, geez. Yu-Gi-Oh I just like, I feel like the, the, the thing I saw online was people being like, this makes it so much easier to get to 70. And I was like, I don't know. I think it really does. Yu-Gi-Oh No, I don't think it does. So. No, I think it's just another way to do it. It's. It is free experience. Sure. And it, it is like cute. And because you have so many Pokemon. And if you don't need, you know, leaks, that makes sense to send it. Sure. Yup. I don't know. I, like, I powered up a Vigoroth today because Vigoroth is technically better than slack off for berries. I think my Vigoroth was, like, 26, and I. I didn't. This game's been out for three years. Vigoroth has been in the game since day one. I did not have enough candy to bring him to 50. And at 50, he got helping speed medium. So I wanted that to go with berry finding. Yu-Gi-Oh right. And I'm on Snowdrop, and I had to use, like, rare candy slash normal type candy. But I just, like, I thought about that for a second. Like, I have more than enough dream shards of Yu-Gi-Oh I can't even get this vigoroth to 50. And this Pokemon has been in the game since three years. So, like, I'm either not farming enough Vigoroth myself, or people are not sending me Vigoroth candy. But either way, like, it's just, like, a weird thing to think about. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, that's true. I don't think about the fact that, like, you're getting candy every morning from the people. I mean, I think about it because whenever I've taken a break, I get messages from you about how I'm costing you candy. You're costing me candy. But you could have been. That's three days of Vigoroth candy you possibly could have not sent me. I wasn't gonna send you. I used to, like, specifically choose which Pokemon I was, like, researching to send candy for. Now I just. Whatever pops on screen is what gets sent. Unless. Unless it's a week with, like, something new, and then that new thing doesn't pop, then I switch it over to the new Pokemon. But, Yu-Gi-Oh no, most you. So you choose every day. You're like, all right, Yu-Gi-Oh if you're. If you're sending me Ekans candy, I'm gonna remove you. I'm not sending you Ekans can. I'll have to keep that in mind, because I don't choose all the time either. I haven't seen an Ekans in weeks, to be fair, from the game. He's gone. Yu-Gi-Oh So that's. That's good. That's working. But, Yu-Gi-Oh no, I don't know. I just, you know, sometimes I get, like. I get. The thing is, is I get too. I think too much about it, about which Pokemon to choose. And so then I'm just like. I just let the game do this because, like, I. I, like, overthink it. I'm like, well, should I do this or that or. Or that one? Like, thinking too much about it. And, like, I love this game, but it's just, like, I don't want to stress me out. It's supposed to be the opposite, right? Like, improve your life. Oh, my life's improved because of it. So, wait, who did you. Okay. So, Steve, you sent Vigor off to Nap island this week? No, no, no, no, no. But again, I was like, oh, why did I withdraw him on Sunday night if you're sending him right back? If I'm gonna send him right back, Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, So I didn't try. I didn't know. So you can just keep them there, and then they'll just. Another week. They don't have to, like, they don't have to come back and then go back. You can just keep them there as long as you want. I'm almost positive the. The Nap island doesn't. That's a good question. I don't know if they stop getting experience. Right. That's what I wasn't sure about. If you have to collect that experience for the week and then send them back, I would like to think it stacks. Maximum stay is one year. Okay. Oh, right. They did mention. Yu-Gi-Oh they did mention that. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, so. So there you go. You have a year. So you can keep your Drampa there for a year and maybe get it to level 70, I guess if instead of pushing the time back, you can take your back your Pokemon back from Nap island at any time. But if you take it back right away, you'll not be able to join the nap. It does give you, like, a warning for that. Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon needs a full seven days. If you take a Pokemon back before the seven days, you will only gain half. Well, if you can, say a maximum amount of time for a year, then you're good. You just. You just leave it. You don't have to. You just leave it. I think just put Darkrai and leave them forever. So, Austin, who did you send this week? Jolteon. Just for some experience. I wasn't using it this week, and I. It's close to 70, so. Okay. Jolteon. Why? Okay, Steve, I don't like your face. What's wrong with Jolteon? Evie is so easy to get candy for. I don't know what I'm doing. I just Beckett one. I would only send Pokemon that would be, like, hard to get candy for, like, Drampa or like, Farfetch'd. I think Farfetch'd was a good send. Dang it. I'll. So I went with La Dios this week. A good send. It's a good send. But it's like if somebody sent Piplup to Nap Island, I just delete the game. You're playing rock. Okay. Oh, you're going to get the comments. You're going to get the comments from the Piplup lovers who probably sent one off. If you love Piplup, you wouldn't have sent him away. He got so many people up at this point. Exactly. That's why you don't need to send him. But what if you wanted a photo with Munchlax? Oh, you know, I didn't think about that. Piplup next to Munchlax would be probably a good photo. You're real cute. But if Monday morning I decide, okay, I still don't need soybeans and I still don't need dragonberries, then I don't have to withdraw Drampa and then he can just go for another week and then at 8am on Monday, which is impossible. I'm not getting up at 8ams on Mondays, I'll tell you that much. But at like 11am when I do wake up, then I can withdraw him. Can you, though? Okay, so that's what I'm. That's what. I'm wondering how that works. Because. Okay, let's say that you get the maximum amount of. Let's just say I don't know what the number is. So let's say without the ticket, you get the maximum of a thousand experience points. Right. For like one week. I. I know it's probably higher than that, but let's say you get a thousand experience points now that seven days ends at whatever time. Let's say it's 8am on Monday and then the next seven days starts. You need to. It needs to be until the next 8am on Monday. Right. Or else you're only going to get. No. As long as you hit more than seven days, your XP will not be cut. But the XP for the next week one-of-one be cut. No, I think. I think once. I think as long as you keep it more than seven days, you get full XP for your entire stay. For your entire stay. And it's less than seven, you get punished. And you only get half. You only get half. Okay, so it keeps people from like switching every day, like switching a Pokemon Every day? Yu-Gi-Oh Or every five days or whatever. Okay, that makes sense. That makes sense. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, somebody. Somebody on Reddit said, what happens if you take a Pokemon back after eight days? Does it get the full experience? Does it get the full experience of the first week and then half for the eighth day? Or does it get all the experience? You brought it back in the middle of the week? The commenter said this was clarified in another bullet point, which is the one I can't find. You need a minimum of seven days to get the full amount. Anything more gets full value. Okay, okay, that makes sense. To your point, like, if you're really wanting to level up a Pokemon, it would make sense that you're just keeping them there anyways. As long as you don't need that, like, for that week, then you don't need that Pokemon going. Keep it there. Unless you're, like, trying to get a bunch of Pokemon to, like, passively get Pokemon to 30, you know, because, like, that's not bad if you just want, like, passively trying to do that rather than, like, using candy. Well, the thing. The other thing I think about is Drampa went from 30 to 35, but then I also walked away with, like, 25 Drampa candy. True. But that was ticketed. So now that this week isn't ticketed, I'm sure I'm curious of how much candy I'm gonna walk away with. Because everyone last week had to use the ticket, so we don't have any data of nobody using the ticket. Which will have next week. Sunday night, I guess, probably. Yu-Gi-Oh Right. I'm going to link the article to Bulbapedia if you want to know more, but this is more of a news thing. Pokemon Center, Mega Tokyo, the largest Pokemon center in Japan. And the Sweets Cafe, which is across the hallway from the Pokemon center, will be reopening in August after it closed in March. And I'm not going to tell you why it closed because I don't want to talk about that on the podcast. Understandable. Not a good story. So you can click the link if you want to. The Pokemon company states the store will reopen with stricter safety measures, including entry restrictions. Okay. To be fair, that Pokemon center already had entry. Like, I'm sure there's more restrictions, but this Pokemon center in particular always has like a line to get in because it's so. It's. It's the biggest Pokemon center in Japan. Megatoky. Yu-Gi-Oh They have the most merch, the biggest Fleer plan. Right? They have like last time I was there was 2016, so. Yu-Gi-Oh no, they redid it since then. Yu-Gi-Oh I know. So like the Pokemon center itself is massive. And then across the hall is the Sweets Cafe. Yu-Gi-Oh Which is the cafe that for a long time you Goldin sit down in like when Covid happened, you could just go in. The Sweets Cafe has like five drinks and like waffles and like a cookie. That's like all that they sell. Yu-Gi-Oh It's not to be confused with the other Pokemon Cafe where you can like sit down and get a very mediocre meal for a lot of money. And then behind Mega Tokyo they have like a Go Lab which is mostly like sitting cuties that they sell and like some go stuff. And then there's like a real life gym there where if you take over the gym, you see your name on the standee thing. That's like displaying the name and showing the Pokemon. It's kind of cool. There's like, Yu-Gi-Oh there's like Candela and, and Blanche and Spark figures you can take or like big life size standees you can take pictures with. Then there's a TCG area where you can actually sit down and play the trading card game. That's where they have league where maybe they are also giving out standees if you participate. But you can also buy Pokemon cards there. And then there's like a child's area. And then there's like a, almost like an event area where they usually do like giveaways and stickers. So if you have not been to this Pokemon center one, it's been closed since March, but it pretty much dominates that Fleer of the mall in that. In that area. The store and cafe will reopen on August 24th. The Pokemon Company is noting that they're taking extra precautions prior to reopening. They're carrying out partial renovations to Mega Tokyo to enhance safety measure for our staff and to ensure the safe environment for our customers. The company also asserts that temporary entry restrictions will be placed in the following for the reopening, but does not offer specific detail. The method for entry restrictions will be announced at a later date. It should be noted that the month of August, the Pokemon Mega Tokyo will not be hosting any events that the other Pokemon centers in Japan are hosting. Oh, this Pokemon center in particular does not like filming sometimes. That's like a mall thing. Yu-Gi-Oh Where they're just following the rules of the mall. So like this particular mall, which is in Sunshine City, like if you walk into the mall, it'll say like, hey, no video recording, no whatever. So I think that I, I think from what I understand, Pokemon center in general does not have a no filming rule because some Pokemon centers definitely do not care. This one has always cared. When I, like, even if you were just like making a tick tock on your phone and you don't have like a giant stream camera on your shoulder like I do sometimes. Yu-Gi-Oh They will yell at you. They'll be like, hey, no, like no filming. I'm sure that is going to be just as strict. Right. But Yu-Gi-Oh I don't, I don't, I don't know what other entries they would do. I mean, like, when Pokemon centers get busy, they do like limit how many people go in. But that's like any store like Pop Mart also does that. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't fully. Like, we're not going to get into. Again, we're not getting into the news of like why this is happening. But like, if. Because of what happened. I don't. This. It feels like it's a bit much because of like, I don't know what are they gonna do that would stop a situation? Like a very specific situation. Right. Like, like, it just seems like there's. They're, they're. They're doing a lot. And I wonder how long these restrictions will like, will last. Is this just gonna be what it is going forward for this store or are they gonna like relax them after a year or six months? What's interesting, Bobby, is after this happened, which was in March and then I was in Japan at the end of May we went to Mega Tokyo and everything was like closed down. And I went to Shibuya and Shibuya busy as ever. For the record, Shibuya doesn't care if you film. They have CCTV everywhere anyways. But. And then I went to the Yokohama Pokemon Center. They did not like filming. And then I went to the Pokemon center dx. They don't care if you film either way. The three of the four Pokemon centers I went to, one being Megatokyo, that was closed. I knew it was closed. I was just curious of like what that looked like when it was closed. Anyways, all three of those Pokemon centers had actual hired security where they've never had that before. Almost like how Apple stores have like their own hired security. Like they don't. They're not Apple employees. They're just like security guards that they're just secure. Yu-Gi-Oh So that was kind of like weird. And I definitely, definitely at the Yokoha Yokohama Pokemon center, the security guard kept looking at me and I was like, I don't know if it's cuz I'm white. I don't know if it's cuz like I have a camera on my shoulder. I don't know if I. Because I'm like I. They didn't want me to be in the store filming. Like I was, I. When I was in the store they were just like, oh, put your camera down. That was all they asked. Which is like totally cool. Like just don't point your camera at anyone. Yu-Gi-Oh I was waiting for my friend to like check out. So I was like, well I'm just going to like not stand with my camera facing down in the store. Like I also don't want to stand in the store because I'm not going to buy anything. So I'm just going to stand up. But even the satellite store, which was like two floors down and the Yokohama has a satellite store to help alleviate the Yokohama Pokemon center because it's so busy. The satellite store had its own security as well. And the satellite store is literally just like a, like almost like a kiosk. Right. So I get it. I get like that an incident happened. So you put security at all your stores. But it was like such a very specific incident. Such an isolated incident. Yu-Gi-Oh Zebra isolated. Very specific. Afraid of copycats or something. But it makes me wonder if they also were upping security because of how tense like Pokemon card stuff has gotten at the same time. Because it's like that would make sense to have security in case like something breaks out because people are getting a little bit like excessive with like the Pokemon cards or something like that. I don't know if they were like, hey, this security would also benefit in a Pokemon card situation because I don't think they have issues with that. This was also published this afternoon. Well, we're recording this early but says here there is no end in sight to the pandemonium surrounding Pokemon trading card game where single box products can be resold for hundreds if not thousands of dollars. The hobby has proven so profitable that people align out of stores days ahead of release. Trading card robberies are a weekly occurrence and for a family friendly corporation like the Pokemon Company, this has heightened the state of affairs and is horrible pr. To combat this dilemma, the makers of the Pokemon TCG are adopting an increasingly strict measure to curb resell. Resell. Vultures. Earlier this year, the Pokemon company became began requiring customers in Japan to provide a government issued ID before purchasing cards at official outlets. Okay, I don't know how true. I'm not saying that this author is a liar. Maybe I am actually. Okay, okay. I bought cards at two different Pokemon centers in May. They did not ask for an ID or anything. They did not ask for my passport. Well, one did ask for my passport, but that was only for tax free. So I don't know if this is like those. Both. Both those Pokemon center had a limit of two booster box Yu-Gi-Oh And their booster box are only five card booster box And so I bought two at one and I bought two at the other. And so I wonder if you need an ID when you're purchasing like a whole box. Maybe. But they weren't selling. Like wasn't it. Wasn't it going to be for like specific events or something too? Like, I don't know, it might not be like all the time, but. Or it also could just be a slow rollout to which stores. I would assume that Pokemon centers are the main stores. I guess. I guess. Yu-Gi-Oh This system has not left Japan shores, but it also doesn't be. It also doesn't appear to be temporary. More recently, the Pokemon company announced that five pop up shops in Japan would soon begin using facial recognition technology for customers of elementary school age or older. The customers. The company states facial recognition is meant to ensure that customers cannot revisit stores to make additional purchases. If the system determines a customer is trying to bend the rules, entry will be denied to that person based on the system's judgment. The announcement reads the new system will be employed for the Japanese release of Rayquaza themed Storm Emerald. I said that wrong. Emerald. Emerald. Better. Yu-Gi-Oh better. Perfect. That will be released at the same time as the set for TCG Beckett That's the set we don't get until November. November. Yu-Gi-Oh No, I mean, that's just me with a Mario mustache walking in. This isn't like. This isn't new. Right. So when. When iPhones were Zebra popular, before they were sold in China, that was a really big thing. People could come in, they could buy five iPhones at a time. I don't know why that was the limit. But you could buy five iPhones at a time, and they would. And I. No joke. There was a customer that walked in, he bought 5 iPhones. He left 30 minutes later. Same guy, but dressed completely different. But he happened to come up to me, and I was like, I just helped you. Except you're now in, like, a completely different outfit with a hat on and, like, glasses. And you didn't have any of that before. And he wasn't able to buy five more iPhones. But, like, that's how we were catching them in the past. It was just like, if you happen to walk up to the same employee and they know they recognize you from before and you have the same name and everything, then you're not going to get to. To buy. But there was nothing in the system that would say, I think. I think there. Okay, so I never sold anything at Apple. I just. I just fix computers. But from my understanding that at a certain point, they would recognize the credit card. Like, something in the system would be like, this credit card bought five iPhones. And then that was that customer again for. I never did it. So I don't know. That customer would just use a different credit card, and that's how they get around it. Sure. Yes. Because it would reject the card. Right. You'd Sepia the card, and it wouldn't. It would reject the card, or it would tell them they had to call their bank, and then that would be. That would tip off a whole different thing. And so then they would typically just use another card, and that was how they would get around it. But there was a point of time where you could only buy five. But it was very. It wasn't. There wasn't, like, a standard policy to it set the time. It was just kind of like you weren't supposed to buy more than this and people were just taking them and selling them for way more money. But we, there was no facial recognition, that's for sure. Am I, I know that everything is labeled Yu-Gi-Oh for the sake of shareholders, right? Yes. Yu-Gi-Oh But I'm almost positive that Target has facial recognition and they've had it for like over a decade. I believe so Yu-Gi-Oh Facial recognition isn't like Yu-Gi-Oh specific obviously. Like I mean, or it is machine learning. It's under the umbrella or whatever you want to call it. Whatever it was ten years ago. Yu-Gi-Oh it, you know, I just think that they probably now that they have LLMs that they can use. Like I'm sure they're using some Yu-Gi-Oh specific stuff to, to check this. Um, but Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I don't know. Did Target, was this like, well known that they had facial recognition or. I knew. So when I, when I, when I worked for Apple we had the, they were like the regional security manager at Target or something. Okay. And they, they got a job at Apple not doing security. But they were saying that they would be able to pinpoint people who stole and they would continue to let them steal. Right. Their systems would note, their systems would be like this person has stolen. And we also know exactly what they stole and how much they stole. And we're going to keep letting them steal until they hit a specific threshold. Yu-Gi-Oh And when they hit that threshold then we will catch them and then we will prosecute them. Yep. That's because there's the threshold. You can't like in California it's like under $934 you can't be prosecuted at a certain level. So you have to hit a $934 threshold of stealing stuff. Before. Yu-Gi-Oh before it's a more serious offense. I don't have a Target really close to me but I know Walmart is similar, if anything, really close to you. You live in the middle of nowhere. But that being said though, Walmart is similar with the, you know, they'll track. Yu-Gi-Oh If you steal stuff, whatever. Yu-Gi-Oh But this was well over 10 years ago. Customers who refuse this type of surveillance will not be allowed to enter the stores at all. Trading card. Trading card fans can leave the store and reenter necessarily, like for example, to use the bathroom. But store employees must be informed first. Oh, I think you have to like legit stand in front of a camera. Yu-Gi-Oh it sounds like they're taking a picture of you. Younger children will still be allowed in the store, but only under guardian supervision. The facial data will be promptly deleted after quote, a certain period of time. I love the quote unquote a certain period of time. Seven years probably. Thank you. The Pokemon company's wider privacy policy states that a company can collect data that is not limited to facial recognition. That data includes photographs, audio recording, digital media, email, school occupation, workplace, driver, license number, passport number. That would be like obviously for Pokemon centers themselves. Resident, resident, resident registration numbers and more. The data is used for a number of reasons, from process paymenting to developing market research. The collected information could theoretically be used in efforts against scalpers, but the policy does not explicitly state such a purpose. That seems like a lot of info. Yu-Gi-Oh Why do you need so much information? That seems like a lot. They're just gonna use most of that stuff to sell you more things. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh That's the big ploy here. Yu-Gi-Oh That's wild though that like you if you refuse this type of surveillance. So what does that mean? So they said, they said six pop up shops are happening. I don't know what these pop up shops are or where they're supposed to be. But I'm. Before you enter the pop up shop, you have to get your. I'm assuming these pop up shops are to sell cards. Cards. They must be to sell cards. And then before you enter the pop up shop, you will get your picture taken and therefore you can't go to another pop up shop because they would know that that would be you. I, I guess I. It's weird that they say it starts at like. And I get, I guess like you could have a six year old who buys cards for you. My House just died. That's fun. But elementary school age or older? Like that's, that's like six years old. Like that seems young. I don't know, that just seems real young. Okay, but isn't the other strategy is like going get your 6 year old to buy all the cards? Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh that's that. Well that's A good one. The other strategy is you're traveling with either a partner or a spouse or a friend who probably isn't into Pokemon. Like you are. Right? So it's. So you, you tell that person, okay, well I can buy two packs. You can buy two packs? Yu-Gi-Oh We're not together. Yes. I don't know, like it does seem odd. Not odd, but like, can't they just like why aren't the pop up shops just limiting? I guess if it's like one box, a person or something and then they're going to another store and they're. Yu-Gi-Oh it's just weird because like Pokemon centers have like two packs per person. Is there someone like, let's say someone goes to every Pokemon center that they possibly can. What are they gonna get? Like 30 packs tops? Like you know what I'm saying? Like, like what are we really stopping here for? What they're selling? Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Like this, the problem isn't in store. The problem is happening online, I think much more than it's happening physically in store. I don't know, a lot of stores are empty but like, okay, but this isn't, this doesn't sound like it's happening with like the big box. Like this isn't. First of all, this is in Japan. So I guess, I don't know all the places they sell Pokemon cards. But if you think about like Pokemon centers and then their like pop up stores, like they obviously can't do this in other stores. Like if let's say this was in America, let's say we had Pokemon centers in America. They can do it in Pokemon centers, they can do it in pop up stores. They can't walk into Target and start taking pictures of people and just be like it's our four hour facial recognition system. Like that's not going to happen. Right. So like they have to have an agreement with the other companies that this is going to happen. So it's like how much scalping is happening? It must be a lot that's happening directly from Pokemon centers because that's where they're implementing these systems that just, it just seems like most of that is happening online. Not as much physically at Pokemon centers. But I'm not in Japan so I guess maybe, maybe it's a big problem. And it just, it just feels weird that they're already limited, limiting it to like two packs per person. So like you could spend your whole day going to Pokemon centers and you're going to get like 10 Beckett, 10, 15 packs out of that or 10 to like 16 packs. How many different Pokemon centers could you hit in a day? Like. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, they like, like scalping is still a problem in Japan. Like the. The scalping Pokemon card thing or the scalping Magikarp cat toys is not. It's not like a US American problem. Sure. Like, I was. I was in Japan when they launched the Harkle, when they launched the gold and silver merchandise. Mm. And they had like the gold and silver jackets and they had the plushes and they had the sock, the Moo Moo milk socks and everything. It was cool to be there at Mega Tokyo when that stuff launched. And then it was also like, oh, I've. I've never seen the line wrap around Mega Tokyo three times. Yu-Gi-Oh To just to get in. Right. And who knows how many people in that line were just in that line to. To like. I've never seen anyone with those gold and silver jackets. I've never seen them in real life. I don't know how many they made. At least with the Target Kanto jacket from Starter, at least I see those when I go to events. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh But I've never seen. I like, I don't even see people with the. The Hiroshima jacket that I have, which was also like scalped. Yu-Gi-Oh And I bought that off of friend who then bought that off a secondhand market. So people keep them in their closets, I guess right after they buy them for a market price, they're like, hi, I gotta keep this as an investment. You can't wear it. You gotta put it right next to the ancient mew so they go up in value. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. I'm sorry. I have some real time follow up here. I'm amazed that this just worked. I. My House died. Right. Like five minutes ago. Okay. I was like, I need a working mouse. I plugged My House into my iPhone and now My House works Nice because the iPhone's charging the mouse and the mouse is Bluetooth to the computer. And so it's working. That's actually really cool. That's. Yu-Gi-Oh So that. That's happening. Update. Anyways, back to. Back to tcg. I do. Okay, so I do wonder if there's like a bigger TCG thing coming later this year. Well, There is the 30th anniversary. Yu-Gi-Oh I thought that's what this was going to be for this. To test the waters for when that set actually releases. Maybe. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I think. Well, I'm back and forth on 30th anniversary because again, it really feels like they overprinted this set. And I mean, I don't know how it's going in Japan, but the fact that, like, things are taking so much longer to run out in America for pre orders just makes me think they, like, overprinted it. But then things like this makes me think, to your point, that they're preparing for something. And I feel like the 30th anniversary set makes the most sense. But then also jumping to the end of the article a little bit, they bring back the mega Tokyo situation. And so they say that like, safety management. So like, that could also be the reason and not necessarily just scalping, but just safety. It just seems like it does. It seems like a lot. It seems like a lot. Yu-Gi-Oh But I don't know. I don't know. I don't want to get my face scanned just because I want to buy two packs of Pokemon cards. I. I'd rather not also. Yu-Gi-Oh I'd rather not. So maybe that works. Maybe it works. I don't know. People don't want to do it, I guess. Maybe. I don't know. But I don't know. They got all. Everybody got my information one-of-one Who cares? Yu-Gi-Oh no, nothing is private anymore.
