HUGE Superfractor 1/1 Sales + Tiafoe 1/1 Nadal Pull! | Serving Slabs #33

On today's episode of Serving Slabs, we talk about the big Superfractor sales from this past week and that the national is here. We've got DC Open coming up soon and I talk about my trip with Francis Tiafo at the jtcc, ripping packs with Tiafo and doing a Q and A with some kids. So it was a very fun time when I did that and I'll tell you guys about that in a little bit. So first up, Carlos Alcaraz Superfractor ACEs 1 of 1 PSA 8 did $33,300 on the Fanatics premier auction last Thursday. This past Thursday night. That's a huge sale to one of Alar's biggest sales of all time. That just shows that pretty much, you know, his one of ones that are not his rack and knob and his first year Superfractor auto stuff like that have got some serious juice to them. Of course the cards I mentioned are well over $100,000. But even insert one of ones from 2025, albeit the ACEs, is a fantastic card. More of the best inserts that Topps has ever put out for Topps tennis cards can do over 30 grand which is still a huge number. $33,300. Fantastic card, beautiful card and huge sale. And now just last night on the Fanatics weekly auction, the Ben Shelton True Zebra Rookie, one of one non auto PSA 8 as well did $14,400. That sale is huge. That is by far his biggest sale publicly of all time. It's. It breaks it by $10,000 and that's, that is over I think $11,000 more than any of his one of ones have ever sold for. So huge sale there. He actually has struggled recently. His Grand Slams at the French Open in Wimbledon were not good round two and round one loss. But for him, I mean an absolutely unbelievable sale here as the US hardcore swing and North American hardcourt swing is here. Big expectations for him to make it deep at these tournaments. He really needs it because he has struggled over the last month and a half or so and I think you will, you know, come back and have a big breakout at this year's U.S. open again. Last year he got injured which really stung because he's playing well. So hopefully this year we see him make a deep run indeed $14,400 yesterday for that card. As for the DC Open, that is this week. We'll talk about that at the end of the show. But I will talk about my trip to the JTCC in Washington D.C. i did it on Tuesday this past Week, which is why I didn't have a podcast come out for serving slabs this past week. So I apologize about missing a week, but we did have a really cool trip. I did a solo mission, went there, partnered with TOPS to do an event there where we did a little info session for these kids at the camp. Youth tennis players. And then we also gave out free cards, free packs, and then Francis Tafo stopped by and opened some packs with them. So here's a little setup there of the. The free cards that were for the kids as well as they got packs. The kids were Zebra into it. There is me on the screen right now ripping with Francis Tiafo. I brought a couple graphite boxes to open with him, and in the one he opened, I bought the block box on blowoutcards.com. anyone could have bought the box. And they're just a single. Two single loose boxes. I opened one, he opened one in his. He pulled the Rafael Nadal graphite base set, one of one red crystalline. I Goldin believe it when I saw him opening the pack. I saw Nadal's headband in the red, and I was like, no way, dude. And sure enough, he pulled it, and he wanted to keep it for his collection. So he kept it. And it's a beautiful hit. So cool for him to hit that. And it was really fun. He was a nice guy. He had a fun time with the kids. There's all the kids who were cramming our table when we were opening up 20, Topps Chrome hobby. They all kept on screaming as he called out names of players he was pulling and he gave away the cards of the kids. It was very cool, Very cool experience for those kids and for me as well. And. And I hope, you know, those kids remember it still and have a fun time collecting if that's what they choose to do going forward. But a lot of really excited kids. It was. It was definitely a fun time. And then there's a picture of all of us at the camp. It's about 100 kids that were listening to us and engaging in the session. And Tiafo and I are in the middle there, and then all the kids and coaches on the outside. So it was very, very fun. It was a cool experience. I'm very thankful for it. Um, my travel back was. Was really brutal. Yu-Gi-Oh storms out east, canceled all flights that night out of Reagan, and then also canceled all the flights back to Chicago and Milwaukee the next day. So that night at 10pm I had to rent a car, drive to Pittsburgh, four and a half hours away, get a hotel room for two hours sleep and then fly home to Chicago, Uber to Milwaukee to make tops from baseball release day. So I'm still feeling the effects today, but it was well worth it. Um, that camp was awesome. The kids were so excited about the cards and it was really cool, really cool to do that. And TFA was really into it, so it's fun. All right, next up, guys. This week, the national is here. Starts on Wednesday, the preview night. Anyone can come to general admission. That starts at 4pm That's 4 to 8pm on Wednesday night. All of their days of the show are 10, I think 10 until 6pm or 9 until 6pm somewhere in that range. So VIPs maybe are 9:30 or VIPs are 8:30. But Yu-Gi-Oh about 9 or 10 to 6pm on the rest of the show days. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And it's just such a blast every year, so much fun. Last year we had the most tennis cards in the room. And this year we also have the most tennis cards in the room. Again, I'd be shocked if there's a booth that has more. We've got everything from $1 cards to five dollar to fifteen thousand dollar to, you know, 200, 300, 500,000. There's something that'll fit everyone's budget range at our booth. I really, really, really cannot recommend enough going to the national if you can't get there or if you. If you can still get there, if you haven't already Beckett your trip, if you can drive there even for a day, I would do it. Our booth number is 479 and 580. They're right next to each other. And we will have Zebra fractures, Carlos Alcaraz cards, you know, Nadal Djokovic, tons of women's cards, Mira Coco and more. And it's just such a fun time. Hall of Famers, you know, it, it's. It really is the highlight of the summer for the hobby. And it's going to be, I think, crazy again this year. Last year was insane. I think this year will be even more crazy. So make sure you stop by our booth, 479 and 580 to come by and do some deals. We'll have some awesome cards there and can't wait to see you guys all there. All right, so moving on to some actual tennis commentary now. So the D.C. open does start the North American hardcourt swing, and it is the only men's and women's combined 500 event throughout the entire calendar year. There's no other 500 combined event, which makes this one of the best, if not the best 500 event of the year. And it's a. This draw is spectacular. The men's draw, round one has got six to seven to eight unbelievable matches. So you've got Camille Marchzek, who plays Tommy Paul Marche's coming off a really good grass court swing. You've got Jack Draper returning, which is the biggest news in my opinion, of the D.C. open. Jack Draper pulled out Wimbledon the day before. He's supposed to play Fritz, I think, and now he's in to the round one here as a wild card at the DC Open, plays Alex Mickelson. That'll be an awesome match. So really excited to see him back. Hopefully he's healthy the rest of the season. Archer fees and Rafa Hodar is a crazy round one match. Two huge hitting players will be awesome to watch. Alex D. Noir versus Stefano City Pass. You got a wild card. City Pass coming off of a 250 title one-of-one And he has a 121 head to head against Dibenor. Although I'm sure most of that came multiple years ago when Tsitsipas was, you know, top five player. Demonur was younger at that time. Top. Didn't really break into the top 20 at that point. But, you know, even their last meeting, Sitsipas did one-of-one I think it was earlier this year on the hard courts, so that will be a fun one to watch. And then the two Italians. Musetti making his return from injury. Lorenzo Musetti against Matteo Arnoldi. And then we got two Americans going at it in round one. Ben Shelton versus Martin Dom, which would be a good watch because Martin Dom has been pretty good this year. Had a ton of aces at Wimbledon, one around, I think one-of-one his first round match there, so be fun to watch. As for the women's DC Open, top seed is Jessica Pegula. Eva Jovic unfortunately had to withdraw. I think it's just something minor, probably just more rest. But the big one at the DC Open for the women's is Alex Ayala versus Kiwin Jang, which happens on round one. You'll have to watch that match. Two players who are most two of the most popular in the entire tennis world for the WTA, they are absolutely huge in their countries. Kim and Jang winning in gold medal for China at the last Olympics. Alex Aala making, you know, records for Grand Slams for Filipinos. Very cool to see. So we'll be excited to see how this turns out. This DC Open 500 will then of course take us into the Canada 100 which will take us in the sorry, Canada 1000, Cincinnati 1000 and then the US Open. The other thing I want to mention too is Carlos Alcarez is rumored to be back at the Cincinnati Open. Fully cleared, medically healed wrist, just needs to ramp up training. I hope to see him at Cincy Open and then at the US Open as well. And with that being said, as I take out one of my cards I have up on the stands.
