Foreign. What is up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Limited resources. This episode, number 855. My name is Marshall. I'm one of your limited resources. And joining me on the line all the way from Denver, Colorado, it's Luis, Scott Vargas. Luis, when is the last time you had to get a crown at the dentist? You ever had one of those? No, no. I, I. The peculiar peculiarities of biology are such that my. The stomach or the acid or the bacteria in my mouth. Yeah, I get more gum issues than normal, but I get very much less, much fewer cavities. Interesting. My dentist actually explained that that was actually correlated is that your gums are extra sensitive and you're more prone to gingivitis or something. So I. So I have to do regular cleanings and all that. But the flip side is it's, I guess, somewhat inhospitable to cavities. So I haven't really gotten any cavities. So. Have you gotten cavities? Oh, my God. I'm talking about a crown, man. Like, this is like they. Is that like a trophy of some kind for having good teeth? Yeah, yeah, Just like the ones behind you on the screen. Well, I had to get one today. But I have to say, it is interesting because on one hand, you know, going to the dentist, never fun, right? It's like, it hurts. There's stuff in your mouth. It's just uncomfortable. But on the other hand, it is pretty crazy. I went in there and like, I'm done, like crown on everything done in like a couple hours. That. That is amazing. They used to take much, much longer, I'm told. Thankfully, I didn't need any until they had it all figured out. So at any rate, I'm feeling. I was kind of hoping we. We'd get a. We we'd get an altered Marshall here for the draft. No, I had to drive. I mean, they did numb me up, but it wasn that part. You know how sometimes it's. It's kind of hard to talk. Unfortunately for you, they didn't hit that part. So I can still talk just fine. So what we're going to do today is. But we've got a lot lined up. It's going to be really fun. So we're going to do our draft walkthroughs for Secrets of Strixhaven to show you how Luis and I approach the format today, where we're at with it and to go beyond the pack one pick one that you get out of a cracka pack. Crack a packs are really great for conversation starters. And to kind of give us, give an idea of where we would want to plan our flag or what kind of cards we like. But there's nothing quite like watching Luis or I go through an entire draft to see how we really approach the format on a pick by pick basis. And then as a bit of a bonus, we are going to put together a sealed pool as well, because as it happens, there is Luis. I can't believe I'm saying this. There is another arena direct. Like, is this not the fourth one? Like, I love these things, but what is going on? They, they, they've actually kind of like beaten me into submission. I, I, I haven't been playing. Like, I didn't play the last two of these. Yeah, I just, I don't blame you. I've been getting, getting kind of demolished, you know, I don't know. I, it's, man, you know, we were talking about skinning the sheep versus shearing it on the last episode, and man, it's, it's feeling like we're getting a little close to the skin on these directs. I, I mean, this is, yeah, I could not believe there was another one. I really enjoy them. So again, I' as a customer, I'm gonna, I'm gonna play in these things. Kind of anything that they throw up, that's for stakes. I like. And I happen to really like this sealed format and have played a ton of it at this point. So, you know, I'm kind of in for these ones. But I mean, there have been sealed formats that were much, much worse that I would definitely have balked at. You know, like, come on, I'm not doing another one of these things. I mean, ultimately they're voluntary, so whatever. But anyway, so we're going to throw together a sealed for that because this arena direct will be up for, I assume, at least a few days here. And if that's the case, maybe it can help you see at least how I approach the sealed format and put things together. So that's what we're going to do on the show today. Before we get into that, I wanted to say thank you to our patreon supporters. It's patreon.com limitedresources if you'd like to support us. And we really appreciate everybody who does. We do have a Patreon Question of the week. This is actually, I think the only question that we didn't get to on our Q and A episode a couple weeks ago. This one comes from Morfok, who says hello. Lr A couple of years ago I watched an LSV stream where he put me on the Wheel of Time. That was awesome. Any other books or series to recommend? You know, I've made this recommendation before, so if you, if you're, you know, a longtime listener, you'll have heard of it. But honestly, Lies of Locke Lamora is like a really fun jaunt. It's a trilogy. It's like the Gentleman Bastards trilogy. I think there's, they're planning on more, but I think it's been a while. It's by a Scott lynch and it's just like a good kind of like, you know, intrigue slash Thieves Guild slash kind of fantasy thing that, that I found to be pleasantly great. Like, I just had kind of came out of nowhere for me. And if you want like hard sci fi, Peter Hamilton is a great author. He writes a lot of books. Like the Commonwealth books. Like, they're, they're, they're, they're pretty, they're pretty much like I said, hard sci fi. So that's like kind of on the other end of things. But yeah, no, I have a lot of book recommendations. You can always get at me on Twitt if you want, if you want book recs, I'm always happy to provide those. Okay. Yeah, that's great. Have you had much time for reading lately? Like, do the kids kind of cut into that well, funnily enough, the reading I've been is. I kind of got into comics. I was. I was getting our buddy Pat Cox a hard time because he's super into comics. He collects old comics. He reads tons of comics, and I read the entire Invincible comic because I told you I really liked the show. And that's the comic, and you can just read it on your phone. And I was harassing Pat after. I was like, why didn't you tell me comics were fun? He's been reading it for years. He's like, I've been trying to get you to read comics for so long. But. But, yeah, no, I. So I've been. I've been reading comics. I started Saga on his recommendation, which is another comic. I started the Boys comics, but after finishing the show, I decided I didn't really want to read the comics anymore. You're over it? Well, it was fine, but, like, I think the show could have done a better job in the last season. Certainly, though I enjoyed it well enough. It's just. I didn't need to read the same story again. Gotcha. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, let's. Let's jump in here. We are going to start off. Actually, Luis, I was thinking we should start off with a contender draft. Right? I love that. Yeah. I did one of these already, and I. I drafted a sweet deck and got to the seven wins. So I'm like, well, I'm done here. But it is interesting because it does seem that you are playing against the wider player pool for these, but. Yeah, but everybody in the draft, you were playing for higher stakes, but your opponents might not be, which is a kind of weird combination, to be honest. It is, but you. But you do have to draft against the tougher opponents, Right? That's how I understand it. That is, I believe, how it works. And I think that's kind of a weird alignment, but whatever. I'm kind of here for it. All right, so let's jump into the queue here. Love it. Oh, this looks like they're fire. Well, the cube filled literally instantly, which makes me feel like it's less likely to be only contenders, but who knows? Maybe there are seven contenders. Yeah. You know, actually. Yeah. All right, so our first pack, our rare is mind into matter. We also got petrified Hamlet, which we're not going to take. Uncommon sleight of hand, artistic profit. There's a tam. And then down in the non prowess. What did I say? Profit. Profit. Yeah, sorry. Artistic process. Process. We're both wrong. And then in the non, uncommons, Slot there is kind of nothing. There's a Fields of Strife. I would just take mine into matter. But what do you like? Yeah, I, I, I think so. I, I wonder if there's an argument for sleight of hand over it, but probably not. Yeah, the, my argument would be that I really value cards like sleight of hand. But there are no shortage of them on the bonus sheet and in the main sheet to get, you know, I mean there's even a spell book seeker in this pack that has characters. Yeah. Just getting, you know, velocity cards. So we're going to take mind into matter. That's the blue green X draw X and then you can put a permanent with mana value X onto the battlefield Tapped at sorcery speed. Weird. Marshall started with a Quandrix card. Yeah, I know. You're shocked. Oh, now look. So that worked out nicely. Now we got Matter Bending Mage, one of my favorites. But there's also Additive Evolution which is a very solid card. Other cards in this pack, there's a grapple with decks. Excuse me, Death, A Strixhaven Sky Coach which is really good. I also don't hate a visionaries dance. Yeah, this is actually difficult between Sky Coach, Matter Bending Mage and Additive Evolution. For me these are, these are all similarly powered. Sky Coach is the most flexible and keeps splashes open. But we are already in a blue green and these two blue, blue and green cards are really, really strong. Yeah, I, I, my inclination would be to take the the mage here. I, I just think it's also a really good card with mind in the matter both the lead up to it by playing it and then bouncing something so you have high the breathing room or playing mind in the matter and putting that thing into play actually really sick. That's true because normally the fact that it enters tapped is really kind of a killer, you know, for creatures but Matter Bending Mage doesn't care. Well, all right. Mage just got even better. Yeah. So now there's a Sky Coach conductor at rare which is really interesting. But there's also an additive evolution and a studious first year as well as a last gasp in this pack. You, you seem to like the conductor here. I think that you should take it. It's, it's a strong card. You, there's no reason that you need to be the all spell deck and matter bending mage with the, the, the instant with off the conductor is just awesome. Like that's a sick Turn three, turn four. Right? It is. Turn three Matter Bending Mage. Turn four Conductor blink your thing Boun Yeah, that sounds pretty great to me. I, I, I, I mean look, there's a chance that, that studious first year is just like a better pick with this start, but so rarely is the conductor actually awesome. So I, I think that this is, this is what, this is what I would take, certainly. Okay. I've also had some success with conductor in these decks where you have like maybe two creatures in your deck that are really good to flicker. But that, that's enough. You know what we have an opportunity to do here, right? We could draft a, like a Quandrix Tempo deck. Yeah, that is true. Together. I think it's awesome because this pack, this pack actually has a lot of blue and green cards. We're in the right place. So. Yeah, you could, you could, you could definitely consider that. Yeah. This next pack has Quandri Quandrick's charm and studious first year. It also has tester of the tangential. There's also a Comforting Council which we're not going to take here and a couple of other playable green cards. Shopkeepers Bane. There's also a Chelonian Tackle. I, I think it's between studious first year and Quandrix charm for me. I'm not a huge tester of the tangential fan. I think so too. And my guess is that the studio's first year is probably, I think that's what I'd like here better. It's really, it's, I mean it's nice with the conductor sometimes, but also just ramping into mind over matter is good. Or mind into matter. Yeah. Yeah. I'll take the first year here. Okay. Next up we've got no rares, uncommons or Ink Shape demonstrator and duty beyond death. There is a wander off if for the splash. And then in our colors there's a wild hypothesis, a fractal mascot and a Paradox Gardens. I think I would just take the gardens here. What do you like? Yeah, I think the gardens for sure. There's just no reason. The blue and green cards are a little too weak though. I don't mind the six. Six. The mascot just. Yeah. You just don't have to prioritize it. And the land is really nice. You also could certainly go into a five color deck from here. I'm not far be it for me to cut off that possibility, you know. Same. But it does feel like Quandrix is open. Right? I mean we've been seeing studious first years. Quandrix charm. Like a bunch of really solid stuff. Two of the enchantment. Yeah, that Last pack had a lot of good quadrics cards. Yeah. So maybe we could even wheel something out of it. Pack one, pick six. There's a Muse Seeker, a Muses Encouragement, and an Embrace the Paradox. Certainly not Muses Encouragement, but I could see taking Muse Seeker here. Or Embrace the Paradox. Yeah, this is kind of. Both of these are mid. Like, they're. They're both playable for sure. Like, they check a box, but they're. Neither are really great. I think I would just take Embrace the Paradox. I'm on that page, too. Yeah. I don't mind Amuse's encouragement. I think it's a little underrated, but you can pick them up later and you don't want that many anyway. What would you rather have? A three. Three or three cards? Because. Yeah, yeah. Tough, tough decision. Here's an interesting pack because there's no really great standout like green or bl. Blue card, but there is a blue Red Land and a grapple with a black green card. So you do have a decision to make here. Yeah, normally I would take the Spectacle Summit, the Blue Blue Red Land, but I. I think I want to take Grapple here because we have seen a few decent black cards that come by a little later than maybe you'd expect. You know, just like it. I just have a little bit of a vibe that black may be open on a splash, and so I think I'm just going to take grapple here. Yeah, I like that. I don't think we've seen really anything from red that makes me want to go. It's a more natural splash, but. All right, next up, we've got. Let's see Chase Inspiration, and then there's a fractal mascot. I would just take Chase Inspiration again. I don't, but I love having the one mana protection spells. I feel. I feel like that's how you beat the kind of like five color decks. Totally. I love having one of those, too, especially if you do get something truly worthy. I mean, the Sky Coach Conductor is pretty good, you know, like, at. At doing the thing that it wants to do, but it's like you really want that, like, hefty bomb. All right, we've got pack one Pick nine. So this is our wheel pack, and there is Muse's encouragement Spellbook Seeker, and then technically a spectacular sky whale that we don't really want. Yeah. I would just take Muse's encouragement, I guess. I. The Spellbook Seeker is kind of. Whatever. Yeah, I think that's fine. The Spellbook Seeker is a little better here. Than it would be normally. Just because I think you want a better curved creature though. This pack has a giant growth which is great. I really don't mind giant growth here. And also the hydro channeler. So as well as a late. What's it called? The Blue Red, make the visionaries dance. Make two tokens card. But yeah, that's what I would normally take. But I want to lean towards the potential for this. Let's. Let's. Let's get a tempo deck. I do think that's why I would have preferred to take the the Seeker the four mana three three instead of the five mana three three. But I. I think this is fine. We'll get one. Don't worry. Don't you fret. I'm just gonna kaka pox plague here for gems. Because it's pack one pick 11 and we're not taking anything else. Okay. So this is what our deck looks like. Oh wow. Quandrix Charm came back alongside the. The plus 0 plus 10 fight spell. But I would take Quandrik's charm here. Yeah. And even a shopkeeper's bane for this deck would be welcome. Wow. So yeah. Blue Green Tempo is an awesome deck when it's open and it appears to be wide open here. So you could take. You know, you could take this. The wild hypothesis is fine. Yeah. Hopefully not playing it. And hopefully they're not splashing. Grapple with death. I think what this deck wants to be is just blue green with a good curve and one mana tricks. That's what I found the. The most success with. Absolutely. So right now our deck is Chase Inspiration. Giant growth Studious first year. Quandrix Charm. Matter bending Mage Skycoach Conductor Muses encouragement. Embrace the paradox. Currently a wild hypothesis. Mind into matter in a Paradox Gardens pack two. Pick one. Oh, man. There's a Color Storm Stallion. There's an unsubtle mockery. There's a monstrous rage. There is another Quandrix charm in here as well as another Chase Inspiration. So, you know, my mind goes to either Quandrix charm or do we want to try to make room for a Colorstorm Stallion in this deck? Deck. Oh man. I would just take the Quandrix charm here. So too. Which is kind of rough because you just got one of three cards in the pack. So it would be nice to not be first picking it. But it's just the best card for your deck. I just don't think you want to splash here if you can avoid it. Yeah. If we had taken the. The Red land, then it's a much bigger consideration. And Monstrous Rage would be really great in this deck. Maybe one of the best cards possible for this type of archetype, but. Oh, we'll keep it in mind. Maybe we wheel something. So we got two Quadrix Charms now. Oh, man. Pack two, pick two. There's a Snarl song. The Temptation. There's also a Hungry Graphalon, Another Embrace, and a textbook Tabulator. This is a very weak pack. I think I would take Snarl Song here. Yeah. Because if you end up with a couple random dual lands and maybe a terramorphic and like a swamp, it's still a fine card. And I just think Embrace the paradox. You will get as many as you want. You know, you're not. You're not. You're not really gonna. You're not really gonna feel it if you miss out on it. Yeah. I mean, we may have one too many already, you know. Right. If we get the really good version of this deck, you know, a quick study goes a little better in that deck than Embrace. Okay, we'll take Snarl Song. I mean, you're right. If we do it for three, it's already good enough. Like that. That is a fine magic card. And once you get into 4 or above, then. Then you're really, really happy. All right, next up. Not much here either. There's a noxious newt. Noxious nude is nice. I like noxious newt. There's a hydro channeler and a fractalized. There is a spectacle summit. If we want to speculate, it's a bit of a stretch to do. So maybe we just take the newt. Yeah, I'll just take the newt. Newt looks great here. You've got good fours. Good vibes. Good vibes. I think Hydro channeler on the wheel, maybe. How many? Two mana one powered. Guys, can we get into this deck? That's the question. Yeah. I think pack three is going to be really strong for us as far as. Yeah. And I think packs might have just been bad just based on how the packs were too. That's a. That's the vibe I'm getting too. Not only was it. They weren't great for us. I don't. They weren't really great for anybody. Okay, next up, we've got more of the same. A Hungry graphalon, an embrace to paradox, Amuses encouragement. And then there is a mindful biomancer here too. If we're trying to be aggro. Yeah. I kind of feel like mindful biomancer is fine for what you're trying to do. I don't Think another Bracelet paradox is really gonna move the needle on that. And I. I do think, like cards like Chase Inspiration and Giant Growth, like Quandrix Charm get a lot better when you have some aggressive creatures, definitely. So we'll just take it. It's a good curve. Creature Mindful Biomancer. So we've got. Let's see. What are. What does our curve look like right now? Creature wise? We've got a Studious first year, a newt, a couple of threes, a five. Yeah, we're a little light on creatures at the moment, and it looks like it's gonna stay that way. Or we could take a bit of a curve here. So this is pack two, pick five. There's a Run behind and a Spell Pier. So two cards that are fine for this deck. There is an Arcane Omens, however, and we do have a Snarl Song. Do we want to deviate from the plan? You know, we are not that far. I would just take Arcade Omens. I. As much as I love. As much as I love the Tempo deck, you could still be that. I just think you have two really strong Converge cards. You have one Studious first year. You have a. You have one Dual Land. Yeah, I think it's. I think you could get there still. I do too. Basically, you're just blue, green base, and you're just looking for opportunities to pick up splash lands and. And whatnot to cast these Converge cards. Yeah, this would have been a pack two, pick six. Would have been a really nice spot to pick up a duel or something, but there isn't one. Which leaves us with Terra Fractal or Wild Hypothesis. Or if we want to splash, we could go for an abstract paint maze. Terrafractal is great. I. I just take that. Not a big fan of it. Oh, I just think I just like that it scales up throughout the. The course of the game. Kind of does whatever it is you need it to do. It is good with Quandrix charm, too. Pack two, pick seven. Which, Speaking of which, another quandary. I think we just keep taking them. Yeah. Quantric term is fantastic. I. I have no. No issue with continuing to take Quandrix term. Let's just blow up all the enchantments. That's our. That's what it's all about in this format. Louise. Oh, yeah. Enchantment destruction. We got one more card before we get our wheel pack back, but unfortunately, we're not really hoping for much on the wheel. Like, there was no realistic. Great stuff to come back around. This pack again continues to be mediocre. It has tenured concoctor and another Terrafractal. I would just take another Terraforactal, I think. But yeah, I think. I think terrafractal is generally better. Okay, so let's see what we do. Wheel. I'm a little curious. Yeah, the Monstrous Rage actually did come back. Should I just take form of. Definitely take the Black White Land. Because it's just like, even if you're not playing black or white, if you have one of this plus a plains or a swamp, you know, you're always getting two different colors. Yeah. And unfortunately, Monstrous Rage. I. You know, we're still relatively light on creatures. We only have seven and like two of them are terrafractals right now. So it does make it difficult to get the full tempo deck going. Now we have a choice between Textbook Tabulator and Hungry Graphalon. I'll just take a tab. I guess I take the tabulator. Yeah, I. I never play that card. Like, I think it's just bad. But yeah, I try. I do try not to play it. Next up is pack two. Pick 11 fractalize. There's a Bog Water Lumerate Thunderdrum Soloist. I haven't played fractalize often, but I think it's. I think it's solid here. And then we got a Hungry Graphalon. All right, so let's. Let's hope that we get a little bit of direction out of the third pack. Either fully solidifying us in this More streamline with some Light Splashes deck or. Oh, homecoming. Two cards left. I like that sickness. Sure. Yeah. Or homesickness. Yeah, yeah. Which is okay in that deck. Again though, our. Our threats are just super mid. All right, so right now we've got Chase Inspiration, Giant Growth, Studious first year Mindful Biomancer, Noxious Newt. Three Quandrix Charm. A Matter Bending Mage, A Sky Coach Conductor, A Textbook Tabulator. A Hungry Graphalon amuses encouragement and Arcane Omens embrace a Paradox. Homesickness, Snarl Song Currently Fractalized and Wild Hypothesis. Also two Terrafractal Mind into Matter, A Form of Amity and a Paradox. Gardens. That brings us to pack three. Pick one, where we have interesting a Proctor's Gaze. Another, Arcane Omens, a Planar engineering that kind of fixes all your problems. And there is a Potioner's Trove here too. I think for me it's Arcane Omens or Proctor's Gaze. And you could try to get greedy to wheel the gaze or you could just take the take It. Right now, I think I would rather just take Proctor's Gaze. It fits either a game plan, and it does enable the cards we've already got. You could also totally not be splashing any of these things because if you. If the cards end up coming together, you could totally just be blue, green still. Yeah, I think it's worth it at this point. Like the. With the Proctor's Gaze and the studious first year probably pushes us over the line on at least getting the arcane omens in there. Pack three, pick two. There's an Additive Evolution, a Campus Composer. There's a Wander off and a Lewin. I think I would just take Additive Evolution. Yeah. Campus Composer is also reasonable with ways to protect it. It is. Yeah. Okay, we'll go with Campus Composer. I think I would just take. I would just head towards the cheaper card. Yeah, just a little cheaper. Because a lot of the. The ways you win are just like playing a card and then playing a protection spell. Oh, man. This pack has. Has some goods, too. There's a Divergent Equation, another Chelonian Tackle, which you prob. A Shared Roots, which is awesome. And another Newt, as well as a banishing Shared Roots here. I think we have enough. Yeah. Shared Roots. Just looks like regardless of where you end up, Shirts is going to be good. I think that's right. I mean, even if we end up playing, like, these terrafractals, like just getting this ramp out, and then if we did have one more card, one more Converge card, that would be nice. But, you know, we faced a difficult Pack three, pick one there, where it's like, do you want another Converge card or do you want a way to actually use the ones that you have now? Plus, it's just a good card. I mean, Proctor's Gaze is one of my favorite Uncommons in the set. But yeah, one more way to take advantage would be nice. Ooh, there's a Royal Treatment and an essence Scatter. Feel like I just want to take Royal Treatment. Yeah, Royal Treatment's just incredible. You always win when you cast that. And you have three Quandrix charms, which I think kind of sub infest and scatter to some degree at least. Right? Yeah. I think we can set up some combo kills here. Like if, you know, we can go for the Terrafractal and then if we can Quandrix charm it, plus have either of our protection spells, it makes it, you know, it's a huge hit coming in. Ooh, stock up. Oh, I love that. Wow. What a pickup. Pack three, pick five, Stock up. I kind of think that you are going to end up wanting to play arcane omens and snarl. Picking up the shared roots went a long way for me. Yeah, for sure. I mean, now we have three ways to search up basics. You know, at the 1, 2 and 4. So I think arcane omens just kind of has to be in here. I just wish we could have had, you know, another copy of it like the one we opened. But also the proctor's gaze. Like, it's just. It's. It's difficult. If we had the second arcane omens, I think we'd be getting two first things out of our pack. Would be. Would be awesome. It would have been awesome. Yeah. Impractical joke. If. If we're splashing. I also could do pull from the grave. We are up to 10 creatures currently. Yeah. None of these are really. Or you could just take another terrafractal. We could. That would be our third one. All right. Nice. Or terrafractal dot deck, I guess. Okay. That's. That's awesome. Yeah. There's a Titan's Grave. There is also a Lewin. Which maybe that's actually better. Do you think? No. I would just take the land. I. You certainly. You're gonna have plenty of playables. I think having a couple lands work out nicely. I don't think Lewin is like that special. It's just. It's just fine. Yeah. I just. I feel like our man is good. Yeah. It's even better now. No. And you just got a sundering archaic Apex. Yeah. So we actually got what Luis is referring to. There' Titans Grave. Another one in this pack. But we're going to take sundering archaic. This is really kind of remarkable pickup because it's exactly what I was just asking for. Right? It's another way to spend all that. Yeah. And. And this is a really good one. Like arguably better than a second Arcane almonds. Which wield. Which wield, baby. We got. Yeah. This draft pool does seem like it's probably the same one. Yeah. Maybe so. If I had to guess. Remember when I asked for two first pick quality cards and we picked one and then wield the other? Yeah. No. And that was not even the one I thought was most likely to wheel same. I know. The fourth terrafractal. How many more can we fit this? Are there more? Give me more. Oh. A vanishing betrayal. Vanishing betrayal. Is that better than a landscape painter? No. I think we want the painter. Actually. I feel like we could use another creature. I do too. I really? Like, banishing betrayal. But I think. Think that, like you said, we're a little light on creatures here. We almost got another terrafractal. It's a fractal mascot, though. All right, two more picks in this pack. Wow. Shopkeepers. Pain. Take, pull from the grave. Take pull from the grave. Oh, I should have taken it. You're right. There's just, like a. There. There are maybe some matchups where you. No, you're right. You would want to do that. Yeah. Where we. Well, this is. Whatever. It's. It's best to win still, but. Yes. Oh, sure. Oh, can I play the grapple with death now? I think so. I mean, actually, can I play Pox Plague now? Oh, yeah. Pox Plague. Yeah, get in there. Our man is really good. All right, so this leaves us with 52 cards currently, and our creature count is at 16. So that's plenty of creatures. Too many creatures. It is. I'm killing. Textbook tabulator. All right, so in the one drops, right now we have Chase inspiration, Giant growth, Royal treatment, Studious first year fractalized, and then technically wild. You don't have wild high pots anymore. Just save your time and just. Okay. And I also don't want fractalized anymore. Do we want Giant growth? Did we end up down that road far enough to be like. Well, you have what, a chase inspiration, a giant growth, and a royal treatment? Yeah, I would see if there's room to play all three. You would? Okay. See, my inclination would be to cut the giant growth out of those three. And because, like, we're not really doing the curve out. Like, our creature curve is actually pretty bad. Right. Like, we have studious first year, then we have three, two drops, and they're all mid Mindful biomancer, noxious nude and landscape painter. Our threes are decent, but there's only a couple of them. Matter bending mage, sky coach conductor, and then this shopkeeper's bane, if it even makes it. So I might. I would probably kill Giant Growth just because I don't think that we're really doing the, like, curve out, beat down thing. But royal treatment and chase inspiration are. I would keep. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. I would kill probably mindful Biomancer. Like, I. I'm not really all in on this creature thing anymore. Like, this is. This is just kind of a. No, it's not that you have to be all. It's just. It's just. Yeah, we can go through and try to figure out the cuts and then see. See where that leaves us with that? Because I don't think you need. It's not all or nothing. I think you can basically have two Arcane Omens and Sundering Archaic in a deck that has a decent curve and some one mana protection. You do need to cut a six. Homesickness or. Yeah, I'd probably. I would cut homesickness myself. Yeah, I would cut a homesickness and a Terrafractal probably. Yeah. Because we do still have mine into matter. So. Okay, so what we've done is we've. We've called this down to 43 rather than the 51 or whatever. So right now, one drops are chase Inspiration, Royal Treatment, Studious first year. That seems good. Two drops are Landscape Painter, Mindful Biomancer, which I think I would cut. But let's go through the rest. Noxious Newt, Shared Roots and Triple Quandrix Charm. Threes are Matter Bending Mage, Sky Coach, Conductor, Stock up and Grapple With Death, which don't seem cuttable. Fours are Campus Composer and Proctor's Gaze. I like those fives are Two Arcane Omens and An Embrace the Paradox. Sixes are Snarl Song, Fractal Mascot, Sundering Archaic, and then we currently have Triple Terrafractal and a mine into Matter for the expel slot. Yeah, I would kill Mindful Biomancer. Yeah, that seems fine. And then we need to kill two more cards. Yeah, you shouldn't kill Grapple, unfortunately. Yeah, I mean, our man is great. I mean, you could cut a Quandrix charm. It's a lot of Quandrix charms. It is. And it doesn't. It doesn't have that backup mode of replacing itself or, you know, it. It does need to be doing things. So. Yeah, why don't we cut one of them and then my eyes go to like Fractal mascot or. Or the third fractal mascot. You have three, six drops. And the terrafractals are fine on six if you need them to be. They're fine on three if I need them to be. Boom. Also that. Yeah. Okay. And then the question I have for the mana base is currently, this is two Swamps, a Form of Amity and a Titan's Grave. So that's four green sources, including Studious first year and shared routes as kind of easy ways to get them. We'll say that puts us at six. So that's. That's more than enough. And then we have six, seven, eight green sources. Man, I'd really like that to be nine. Yeah. Can you go to one swamp? I can. It does make a little bit difficult if it gets milled or something. But that's not really a common. You'd still have six ways. Six isn't so bad. Yeah, it just. I would. If it got milled, you would have to rely on these two. But I'm not that worried about that. I don't. I don't. That isn't something that you're like fearing that much. Yeah, this looks sweet. Yeah, Terrafractal them out. Yeah, this is. This. This ended up nice. It would have been nice. It would have been nice if. If we got a little bit more of either direction. But I think this is actually going to be fine. And honestly, the one mana tricks to protect like a campus composer, you know, on turn five or whatever is pretty sick. There's just a lot of ways that goes pretty well, I think. Yeah, they look a little out of place, but I really have found them to be high leverage even in the mirror, like you said. Okay, so let's. Let's go over this one more time just so we can give the final deck. So the ones are studious first year Royal treatment and Chase inspiration. Again, those look a little bit out of place. They're not the absolute optimal, but they're pretty dang good cards and I think they'll work. And Sudi's first year is amazing. Next up we have landscape painter Noxious Newt, Shared roots and two Quandrix charms. So some good ramp at two. And then the value train starts with matter bending mage into skycoach conductor hopefully. And then we've got stock up for the card draw a grapple with Death as one of our few, like hard removal spells, maybe our only one. And then campus composer and Proctor's gaze for a little bit of value plus a little bit of interaction. And then we've got the double arcane omens that we're really trying to ramp into as well as embrace the paradox at five. That's kind of the. Our other card draw spell besides Mind into Matter, which we have at the very top. And then at six we've got Snarlsong and Sundering Archaic. So the five into six can be really devastating. Like if we can can ramp into turn four arcane omens. Turn five, either of those two for, you know, three or four. That. That's really nasty. And then the. To clean up all the mess, we've got triple terrafractal. I mentioned the Mind into Matter as our top end. And then we've got seven Forest, six Island and a Swamp. And then we have a form of Amity which is basically a black source that also has a white tacked on for our Converge. Then we have a Titan's Grave and we have a Paradox Gardens. Yeah, this is solid. You're gonna win some gems with this one. You think? Oh, definitely. I'm gonna clean up with that thing, especially since I don't have to play against contenders. Okay, let's get into a premier draft. Buy gems. Oh, no, it's more contenders. Yeah, Yeah, I will pay. Too many. What's it called? You mean? Which we're going to do next, by the way. We're going to spend some more of my gems on the. What's it called on another arena direct. Oh, yeah, that's funny. Okay, Premiere draft. No nonsense. Confirm. Oh, I like that deck. I do. I do wish it would have gone all the way in the direction of the full Quadrics Tempo deck like that Circle is talking about. Yeah, you had the start for it. It just didn't. Didn't end up there. Yeah, we ended up closer to what I would normally draft in that color pair slash archetype, you know, which is almost never just blue green. I think the Tempo deck's the only time when I actually want it to just be blue green every other time. It has splashes, it has a Converge card usually ends up being red as the primary place to splash, but black's very common. And then, you know, any number of colors, depending on what. Yeah, white is the least common for sure. Right? Yeah, it takes usually a practice offense or something to make me want to get in there. Okay, so let's get into our premier draft as we. I don't know. It's hard to get into it. The stakes are so much lower, you know, does it even matter? All right, looks like we are ready. Open up something sweet. No. We got a land storm Carve Coast. There is a flow state and a scolding Administrator. There's also a terramorphic expanse. I'm not a big fan of the Summon Summoned Dromedary or Leech Collector or Return the favorite. Yeah, my eyes go to Flow state, Scolding Administrator and terramorphic here. Yeah, I think. I think you should take Scolding Administrator. I think that it's very good. And we just. We've drafted a blue green, like the last couple times we ended up drafting Strixhaven on here. So I think that going a different direction is probably good. Yeah. And I do quite often go a different direction. For what it's worth, it tends to be probably three out of four drafts or so are These, you know, we call them soup, right? Like these blue based, you know, going green, going red, going black, those type of decks. But a good, a third, a quarter, something like that of the time. It is one of the white base decks and I really like them. I think they're really, really strong and I, I play them pretty often. Well, you're not gonna be able to be off of this ledge though. Louise. Pack one, pick two. There's Achilles confidence, which goes really well with scolding administrator, but there's a freaking emeritus of abundance here. And yeah, just take the emeritus not passing that. I would have taken the flow state and then taken emeritus, but you know, yeah, yeah, we just start off blue green again. I mean, these, these archetypes are good though, and, and there's a ton of nuance to them to, to the soup decks. And you know, I think it is cool for us to get to show those off. Unfortunately, our first two picks are incompatible. Like, there is no way that they're both going to be in the same deck. But. Yeah, not really. Yeah, it'd be kind of hard to imagine. The only way that it would happen is if you try to splash emeritus in a black white deck, which is not advisable. I mean, the mana restrictions on black white, particularly early in the curve, like scolding administrator, for example, are pretty tough. And you don't want to be playing tap lands and splashing around and stuff. What is, Is that even rare? That is Shamanic Revelation 3. GG, draw a card. For each creature you control ferocious you gain four life. For each creature you control, the power four greater. Okay, so we've got that. Or Stand up for yourself, Teacher's Pest Paradox Gardens. There is a wander off and a Visionaries Dance here as well. Oh, man. Take the Teacher's Pest. You could, you could go Wither bloom. No way. It's a great card. No, I don't. I. I would take wander Off. Stand up for yourself Visionaries Dance or Gardens Over Pest. Probably pull from the grave if we're going on to it. I think I would just take Wander off here. Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. Nothing like also going. I mean, the card I take is going in the same direction that. Nice. Another scolding administrator. Yeah, we actually would have got hooked up here. There's a brush off. A terramorphic expanse in Brush off isn't a color that we're in yet, but it is a likely color that we could find ourselves in. But there is also Scoling Administrator, Social snub Not as good. But there's also a Johnny's response here. I think for me, it's between Terramorphic and Scolding Administrator. Because if we take the Scolding Administrator and the green or whatever nonsense we wanted to do, isn't there Fair enough. Right. We. We can bail on the Emeritus and just move on. So I understand where I'm at. Yeah. I'm not. Yeah. Yeah. But a fourth pick Scolding Administrator is pretty. Pretty big game. It is. Yeah. And the wander off that we picked before is a hedge. You know, that we could do that too. Oh, this is getting really interesting. Yeah, this looks pretty open. So pack one, pick five. There's a tragedy feaster that's a 76 trampler that you have to sack a permanent unless you gain life. There is also an imperious ink Mage, which is solid, and a Render Speechless, which I really like. If we want to stick on the Emeritus plan, there ain't much. There's a disdainful stroke, and we don't have a blue card yet. So I either like taking Render Speechless or Tragedy Feaster. What do you think? I'm more inclined to take Render Speechless. I. I also just. My experience playing the soup deck says you lose to that card a lot. And I. Tragedy Feaster is okay, but I think in Silverquill, I think I would rather have Render Speechless. I'm. I'm with you. Tragedy Feaster in Silver Quill is difficult to make work. Yeah, you just don't gain enough life. Whatever Wild packs they have been. So now we get a pack 1 pick 6 matter bending mage, which would go really well with the Emeritus plan, but I think we should not do that. I think we should try to see if this Silver Quill path is ahead of us. Unfortunately, there's Sneering Shade Rider and Dig Site inventory for us in that color pair. There's also duty beyond death, but I don't think that's playable. I mean, how much do you want digs that inventory with Double Scolding Administrators. That. Is that a thing you want to do? That is a thing I want to do. So let's do that. All right. All right, Here we go. I'm gonna kill the Emeritus for now. We are now six, five picks into black white. There's a pack literally has seven blue green cards. Pick seven. Literally every car, there's a Swan Swamp. And then every card is either blue, green, or blue and green. Oh, my God. There's a cuboid colony. There's an embrace. There's a Noxious newt. There's an orisa spell. Pierce. Textbook. This is just hilarious. Do I just take like a newt here or something? Yeah, I think I would just take the newt because it's a good mono green card and maybe, maybe there's some way emeritus of abundance shows up and like, maybe you end up like, like strangely wither bloom or something. Yeah, because it it this. Okay, well, now we got an eager glyph mage back for our. One of our two decks are. Is good. Adventurous eater is also here, which is a decent card. But I really like the glyph mage. Yeah, great raw power. So we will take it. I. This has been a very strange draft where this is our wheel pack as well. Or the next next pack is our wheel pack. This is our last one. Is there anything in particular we're hoping to wheel? I don't think so. Well, teramorphic came back, which is kind of funny. Yeah, I think. I take it. So the other two options are rapier wit and adventurous eater. Both very, very replaceable cards. Yeah. So I'll take the terramorphic. I mean, maybe we end up splashing. Maybe I was wrong. You know, maybe we end up with like two black green duels in a terramorphic and we just throw that emeritus in there, you know, Pull from the grave. Okay. Oh, man. Yeah, Pull from the grave is solid. Yeah. There's also monstrous rage, glorious decay, and a couple of lands here. But we'll take a pull from the grave. So right now this is pack one, pick ten. So we have pull from the grave plus dig site inventory two scolding administrator, an eager glyph mage, a wander off off, a render speechless and a terramorphic. And then in the board we have the emeritus of abundance and a noxious newt. All right, so now pack one, pick 11. Do we want a second pull from the grave or a first rehearsed debater? Probably just a debater. Right? Probably the debater. Yeah. Because you also like dig site inventory. So you're gonna go kind of hard on this. Yeah, I think is the plan. And then with pack one pick 12, we'll pick up a mage tower referee, though I don't think we're going to want to play it. And then there's a textbook tabulator to round it out. Okay, so our deck is once again, one dig site inventory, two scolding administrator, a rehearsed debater, a pull from the grave, an eager glyph mage, a wander off, a render speechless, and a terramorphic. And then probably not. But we have an emeritus Of Abundance and a noxious nude Pack two. Pick one. Okay, there's some stuff here. There is. Oh, a preordain. One of my favorites. Primary Research, Achilles Confidence, an elite Interceptor, and a melancholic poet. I'll tell you, Luis, this one is going to have a Wheel sweat for sure. Because whatever we take here, if we can get one of these other cards, it'll be really nice for us. So the question to me, for me, it is. I really like Primary Research, but it's between Elite Interceptor and Killian's Confidence. For me, I think I would lean towards the Interceptor, but I could be swayed. What do you think? This is tough because they're both excellent here. I think I would take the Interceptor as well. I don't know. It's just. It's so close. Yeah. But I think Killing's confidence has a better chance to wheel as well. Oh, yeah. We got Emeritus of Woe pack two. Pick two. Whoa. Yes, sir. Wow. That's lucky. Okay, what else is in the pack? There's an Honor Bound page, a group project, and a set in the Pest for us, as well as a terramorphic number two. But this is really great getting hooked up with just an on color bomb like Emeritus of Woe. I mean, it's a 4 mana 5 4. And then it comes with Demonic Tutor attached to it. And the weird part about it is you have to, like, retrain your brain to realize that that demonic tutor is just all upside. Like, it's just an extra card going into your hand where when you play that effect normally, you're like, well, I have to spend a card card to get it. So I'm card even. This one just gets you the extra card. It's whatever you want. And it leaves you with a 5 4. Yeah, just. And it could maybe even do it again. And it sometimes can even do it again. All right, next up is. Okay, there's some good stuff here. There's a harsh annotation, which I'm not a big fan of, but there is a stirring Honor Mancer as well as a stone docent. But I like the Honor Mancer here. That's a nice pickup, right? Yeah. The honor looks great. This. This is looking like a little bit slower of a silver for quill deck at least. Our curve recently has gotten a little higher. So let's. Let's see if we can. We can pull it back in the right direction. Yeah, because we took those two scolding administrators early, and then we technically have a dig site inventory. But as far as low we only picked up elite Interceptors since then to get our curve going. I mean, you can play mid range Silver Quill as well. It doesn't have to be all out, but the good versions definitely want to hit those creatures early. So you have, you know, stuff to start putting counters onto. But this one's just too good to pass. So we're going to take Strain Honor Mancer. Next up we have, Ooh, Strixhaven Sky Coach, Abigail Poet Laureate. And then there's a Burrog Banemaker and Imperious Inc Mage, and an Honor Bound page. I'm not a big Stargaze fan. I would take Strixhaven Sky Coach here. Yes, Abigail is tempting and it's a pretty solid card, but I think Strixhaven Sky Coach is just better. Yeah. And you do have some really good four and five mana plays. You can even, you can even look at the Emeritus of Woe as a six mana play because you kind of want to do the whole thing. So. Yeah, that sounds pretty legit to me. I, I think they're close, but I think that taking the Sky Coach is totally reasonable. Also, one thing that you'll see, Luis and I do a lot is hedge on wheels. Right. Like the two cards that we took were either colorless or mono colored, with the chance to try to wheel the. The dual colored gold cards. Now, if there's somebody else in Strix in whatever Silver Quill at our table, they'll just take them and that won't happen. But we give ourselves a better chance to wield them by doing that. Pack two, pick five. There's another Eager Glyph mage as well as a sneering Shade Rider. I just like taking another Glyph mage. Yeah, I think so too. That card's excellent. It also just makes sure you always have creatures in play. That's right. And that's really important for these type of decks, especially when you pick up cards like Render Speechless and stuff. You know, you want to get those counters flowing and you don't really care where they land. They just need to end up somewhere. All right, next up, we've got a Johnny's Response Inkling mascot. There's also masterful flourish and a scathing shade lock. I do not want the shade lock. I do want the Johnny's response. But man, can we pass a mascot here. We did want to get that curve lower and that does that. No, I don't think I would pass the mascot here. Like, I just think you want to take a two mana card. And in terms of removal You've got to wander off and you've got to render speechless. And you've got elite interceptor, so you're not like doing amazing on removal. But I think, I think the 2 drop is still really important. Okay. Pack 2 pick 7 is another interesting choice. We can pick a third Eager glyph mage or our first masterful flourish. And the first one does carry weight with me. Like, I. I really do want the first copy of that. Yeah, I think I would take the first flourish here. I don't know. That's. It's close. The eagle Glyph mage is really good. It is really good. Good. Maybe I'll take it and. Yeah, we'll. Yeah, no, I'm in for your glyph mage. I feel like you. You're also just. You rarely are in a position where it's like, oh, you can't. You couldn't see a single masterful flourish or whatever. Right. And you. And again, the first one's great. The second one is okay, but starts to fall off pretty quick. All right, next up we've got stone docent dig site inventory or a poisoner's apprentice. I like the docent here. Yeah, you want. I think you want more cheap creatures. I think that one's going to work out nicely. Yeah. Yeah. So that we committed to filling out our curve. What did we. We call poet. Sweet. Yeah, I think the poet's gonna be better than the leech collector as well. Yeah. That also did wheel. And then we'll see if we get anything out of these next two packs. I. I wouldn't expect it, but I wouldn't. You know, I would say a quarter to a third of the time or something. We get something back. This is a nice pickup. And you know, you mentioned our curve. Now we picked up stone, docent, inkling, mascot, and the poet. Okay. We got honor bound page and send in the pest back. Get those pests. Yeah, just take a send in. The pest seems totally fine. Neither a priority for this deck. But again, our curve getting better and better as we go. And then another. And then the otter bound page on pack two, pick 11. Yes. Effectively for free. Right. Which I don't think we want it anyway. I mean, we. Right now we have triple Eager glyph mage emeritus of will wander off and render speechless. And they're gonna deal with three cards in the pack. Sure. And that's. That's what we talked. That's exactly why. Why you did that. Yeah. So it came back. That was the one that we passed for Strixhaven Sky Coach, which never would have wheeled. So that's great. And then we even get a snaring shade rider pack two, pick 13, which is a perfectly fine curve topper for a deck like this. Yeah. Do you remember the. The Thr. The five mana three. Three flying from Guild packed. Yeah. And remember how good that was? Yes. And you remember how bad the. The. The. The steering Shade Rider is? Yes. All right. I. I will give you our rundown of our deck in a second. But we are on pack two. Pack three, pick one. And we've got options on Hop To It, Silver Quill Charm, Render Speechless Number two. There is also a copper cost of brilliance and a cheerful osteomancer. So I think it's between Render Speechless and Silver Quill Charm. Like I like Hop to it, but we are not currently doing anything about going wide and we already are doing so with our eager glyph mages anyway. Yeah. So I. Yeah, I think I'm just a slam dunk here. Yeah, that's. It's just good. It's good interaction, good finishing, good combat trick. Kind of does it all. Yeah. So we'll take that. It's painful that you're passing a loop though. Yeah, baby. We got past Silver Quill the Disputant. This is a mid version of a mythic dragon, but it still is a 4 Mana 4. 4 Flying Vigilance with a little bit of upside. And we are happy to take it there. There's a Snoopy page in the pack too. Wow. What a pickup, huh? Yeah, I think. I think Silver Cool is. Is pretty reasonable. I mean, we got past our best and one of our best cards. It's pretty crazy. Snooping page is very tempting here, but. But yeah, just big Four Four Flyers are a little. A little too good to pass. Yeah, I think so. Those cards are probably closer than they might have. First look on first a glance agreement read. Interesting. Here. Pack three, pick three. There is a locust spray, which is actually pretty good. There's a second Abigail. There is another dig side inventory. And then I don't think that we'd want the burrog bane maker. No. I think here, honestly, I'm kind of in for locust spray. Yeah, I feel like that too. It's just good cheap interaction. I mean, if it's not good, you can cycle it and it. You know, it lets you kind of just proc. All your stuff, I think. I think. Yeah, I think that's certainly better than Dig set inventory. The question is, do you want a second Abigail? I don't really think so. I don't think so either. And maybe we'll. Nice. By the way, with all those eager glyph mages. You just have things to sacrifice. That's true. Yeah. Because the one thing we are missing here is removal. Like we. We are. We have a little bit, but we are actually much lighter than, you know, you'd normally find yourself in this color pair on removal. Here we have Imperious Ink Mage. This is pack three. Pack pick four, by the way, another Locust Spray, Eternal Student. And if we're desperate, we could take a harsh annotation. I don't think we're desperate enough for that. I agree. My. My inclination is to take. Well, you have a lot of four drops. Maybe just another Locust spray. Yeah, I like Eternal Student, but you've got a lot of fours. I don't think you need a second poll. And I don't think a second inspiring Ink mage is all that is all that interesting either. All right, pack three, pick five. A Render Speechless. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you would definitely play too. Happily so. For sure. So our deck right now is Dig side Inventory. Elite Interceptor Locust Spray times two Stone Docent, A Melancholic Poet, Stand in the Pest Inkling Mascot Two Scolding Administrator Silver Quill Charm. Threes are Rehearsed Debater Pull from the Grave. Abigail Strixhaven, Sky Coach. Fours currently are Triple Eager Glyph Mage, Honor Bound, Page Emeritus of Woe. Wander Off Two, Render Speechless in a Silver Quill. Fives are Sneering Shade Rider and Stirring Honor Mancer. Pack three, pick six. Whifsky, we got nothing. Well, I guess there's another rehearsed debater, but I don't even know if the first one's going to make the cut. My guess is probably not. But this is another. There's a studious first year, a run behind a blue green Duel. A homesickness is Simone's experiment. Yeah, just like. Like four good blue green cards with like very few cards left in the pack. That's really fun. Usual. Okay, pack three, pick seven, Group project or Summoned Dromedary. Group project. Solid. Yeah, I like it. Yeah. This deck really could have used. What's the bonus sheet? Plus one, plus one counter on all your creatures. I forget what it's. It also blows up artifacts or enchantments or whatever. Oh, requisition ring. Yeah, that would have been good. I mean, I'm not obviously what's it called would have been really good. But anyway, Pack three, pick eight. Another Inkling mascot. Yeah, that's. That's kind of free. Yeah. Our curve got really nice here. We. We were a little low on ones and twos, and now we're stocked up. Yeah, this looks pretty solid. It's a little bit light on removal, but I don't think it's. I don't think it's going to suffer too badly from that. No. And I also. Wow. Okay. They hop to. It did wheel. Well, I'll take it here. Sure. You just take it better than. I'll stay on top to it with silver quilt. Yeah. Infinite rabbits. Totally. So what do I need to do? I need to sack a one toughness or one powered thing and I can copy a instant or sorcery. Is that what I do? Yeah. Seems fine. And then there's a shattered acolyte. I don't anticipate that making the cut, but I guess it's not impossible. This is pack three. Yeah, it could. Like you said you would. Kind of hope it didn't. Right. But I do think that we are going to end up leaning this deck. Pack 3, pick 11 Dig Site inventory towards the aggressive end of things. Now that our curve is there, I really, really want to try to apply pressure to my opponent so that I don't have to try to play a long game where I don't have any removal. Yeah, I agree. I'll play an imperious ink mage over a second Pull from the grave. This seems fine. Fine. One pull from the grave should be good, I think. Yeah. You don't typically want more than that, I don't think. Yeah, I mean, you can, but it's just not. Not a huge priority. And then Shopkeeper Spain. And then a wow. Last pick Run behind. Just classic. What the heck. Okay, so let's see what we got. It did seem like we were fighting a little bit with somebody, but it felt like they were far away from us on the table. We ended up with 50 cards here. Currently we're on 20 creatures. And we have double dig. Dig site inventory, Elite Interceptor, Double Locus Spray our twos. This is really interesting because we have a ton of them. So we have group project, Shattered Acolyte Stone, Docent Melancholic poet, Send in the pest. Double inkling mascot, double scolding administrator. Those are all creatures or make a creature. And then a silver quill charm. And then threes. We have hop to it. Rehearse Debater times two. Pull from the grave. Abigail Imperious Inc Mage and Strixhaven Sky Coach Fours are stocked up. We've got triple Eager Glyph Mage, an Honor Bound Page emeritus of Woe, Wander off, double render Speechless Silver Quill. And then the fives are still just a sneering Shade rider and the stirring Honor Mancer. One thing to keep in mind here when you're looking at this too, because Creature count in these aggressive decks does matter. You know, you want to make sure that you don't go too low. Like only have 10 or 11. 11 creatures, but 20 is way too many. And we've got Group Project. Send in the Pest and hop to it. So in reality, we're at 23 creatures currently in this deck. So definitely going to be looking to trim that number down a bit. And we've got 10 cards to cut, Louise. Right. Well, I like Honor Bound. Certainly can get rid of Honor Bound page. Yeah. And like the debaters. Yeah, I think is probably where I'd start. Probably the hop to it looks blue from here. It's kind of weird. It does look blue. That is. Oh, it's because it's the sky. The top part of the card is blue, so it looks like you have a random blue card in there. It does look blue, though. That's really funny. I would kill Senate. I think I would probably want to cut the Sneering Shade Writer. Okay. Who's a script writer. What's it called? And yeah, I. I kill sending so many cards to cut. Yeah. Sending the pest, definitely. Let's see. You have a lot of four. They're all pretty good. They are. I would cut a dig set inventory, I think. Yeah. So I think the question here, Luis, is. I don't know. You're pretty full up on creatures. Here we are. Do we want to lean down the deck a little bit and like, put in the debaters and both dig sites, both Locust spray. Like, try to be that deck. Deck. But what are you cutting then? I mean, you could cut Hop to it. It's not like that card's doing, like, a specific thing for you. No, it's not the only. The only synergies we have for it. I mean, it is just a good card on. On Raid or good enough. You could definitely cut an Eager Glyph Mage. But I think that card is pretty good. I do too. So the hop to it works well with Silver Quill and Group Project. That's not that great. Right? That's just kind of whatever. Yeah. Is it better than Imperious Ink Mage? Probably not. Right? Probably not. Okay, so we'll cut that. It also doesn't work with Pull from the grave, which is a minor consideration. Yeah. So maybe one dig site. Yeah, I would cut a dig site for sure. So now we're down to 42 cards. This puts us at 15 actual creatures plus group project. So 16. So that's much better. I also don't think I would play 16 lands. I think sometimes you can, but not. I wouldn't hear. Yeah, this is on 17, right? Yeah, yeah, I assume so. If you haven't changed anything, it's not just starts. I have it. Yeah, you're right. I also would not. We have tons of stuff to do with our man, I think. And we really need to curve into four. Like, like if we miss our four, if you miss your fourth land drop, it's really annoying. Right. That's why the sky coach looks really nice here. So what are the things that we have in this deck that are not like that are in short form or short supply? So that would be one or off pull from the grid. Honestly, you have seven two drops. It's possible you could cut one of them. Yeah. Group project. The Stone Docent's probably your worst one. Docent or group project? One of those two. Yeah, let's, let's cut Stone Docent because I think the group project is still pretty good with the glyph mages. Like we'll be able to get the second token like basically every time. And I like that. Yeah, I, I think with the Eager Glyph mages, the group project's gonna going to work out pretty nice. Yeah. I feel like we need to keep both render speechless in, even though it's a little bit of a clunky spot in the curve. I just like we don't have that much interaction in it, so. Good index like this. We could kill one Locust spray. Like we're a little bit less on the all in on repartee thing. Like having cut the two debaters. Yeah. You are somehow turning slightly less aggressive. Yeah, I mean I think this deck probably just wanted to be mid range because of the crack curve. Right. We have Emeritus of Woe Double Render Speechless Silver Quill at four, plus the Eager Glyph Mages. Like those are really important big cards that can win us the game a lot. And I, I, I think this is better. Okay, so here's our final deck. Dig Side Inventory. Elite Interceptor Locust Spray at the one. Two drops are Group Project Melancholic Poet Double Inkling Mascot Double Scoling Administrator Silver Quill Charm. Threes are Pull from the Grave. Abigail Imperious Ink Mage and Strixhaven Skycoach Fours, which is really stacked up. We have what, five, eight of them. We have three Eager Glyph Mage, An Emeritus of Woe, A Wander Off Double Render Speechless, and Silver Quill. And then we only have the one actual 5 drop, which is stirring honor mancer. Our land base is 8 plain 8 swamp and a terramorphic. Pretty happy with that. Yeah, I would say that this is totally legit. I mean, I, I think with both decks it would kind of. It would have been preferable to either go like more controlling or more aggressive, and they both kind of end up a little more in the middle than I would like, but I think it's still fine. Yeah, agreed. I mean, this deck, the other deck, you know, wanted to be a little more direction. This deck just needed like, like two more pieces of removal. Right. Like normally in a deck like this, you know, you would see like a Last gasp and a stand up for yourself or something here and cut a couple of, you know, cut a Lotus spray, locust spray and something else and a group project or whatever. And that would probably be a more average layout as far as removal goes. This deck is above average, though, on card creature quality by quite a bit. You know, having the Emeritus, the Silver Quill, the Double Scolding administrator, and a whole bunch of gold cards is pretty nice. Like this, this deck. Yeah. I mean, looking at this that you have, almost half your deck is gold cards. Right. Five, six, seven, you have like nine or ten gold cards. Right. So we're gonna, you know, we're gonna get a lot of stuff going off of the administrator and all that stuff too. Okay. So what we thought we would do is enter a, an arena direct. Now this one is going to be a little bit more difficult for audio only. We will be walking through it, but there's so much information on the screen that we can't just read literally every card. So the drafts we try to do really the best job we can of keeping you up to speed on where we're at in the draft and what our deck looks like and what our final deck is. For this one, we're going to be calling out the cards that are catching our eye or that are more relevant and we will go through what the final deck actually looks like. But if you'd like to see what the rest of the pool looks like, you can find it it on, on YouTube. So if, if I'm sure you're already subscribed to our YouTube channel. It's just limited resources, of course. Okay. So I'M going to show you how I do this, Luis. And then we'll. We'll narrow it down from there. But this is my routine with this format. So first we open up our rares, and we take a look at what we got. This is, of course, quite important. The first thing you want to notice is how many you got, because you can get six, you can get 12. I mean, it's crazy. In this case, we got eight of them. And we have some interesting stuff. We have a vastly scavenger, a skycoach conductor, a vicious rivalry, a cauldron of essence kind of in this blue, green, black shell. But then we also have a traumatic critique and a splatter technique and a Cody. And Cody is completely busted in the spells deck. That card is just like a must kill. So, you know, there's kind of hard to. To. To put that together and sealed necessarily, though Cody's drawback is a lot more severe and sealed, isn't it? You wait for it, buddy. All right. And then. So then you hit continue, and it'll show you your pool. What you do is you hit to the right twice, and you see how many potioners troves you have, because this is the key to unlock a lot of the format. If you have zero, that leads you a little bit towards, you know, a tighter mana base. If you have one, which is, you know, that happens a lot, then you know, you can get away with a little bit of something. If you have two, or, God forbid, three, things can get really nasty for your opponent. In this case, we have one, so we'll keep that in mind. And then what I like to do is look at the gold cards and start putting them down just as kind of initial builds. The other cards that I look for are good converge payoffs and fixing. So I'll usually go head over to green and see what I've got there. In this case, I've got a shared route, but no first year, studious first year. So that's a little bit of a bummer. I do have a snarl song, but the rest of my green is a little bit on the mediocre side. There's a burak barrage, an infirmary healer, a noxious newt, and a meal, a vaseline scavenger, which I do like. And then again, the snarl song, and then a couple of concoctors, which I don't like. So that's, like, just. Okay, what about for our blue, red? So we have the traumatic critique and the splatter technique that I mentioned. Any other gold cards? Yes, we Have a Sennar and a spectacle summit in the land. So that'll lead us over to red. Let's see what we've got as far as that goes. Big bummer here. So we have two expressive fire dancer, but we have no burst lightning. We have, I don't think, any tome. Oh, we do have two tone blasts. Okay, so that's actually really nice, but what else do we have? We have a tablet of discovery, an unstable mockery, it seems an unsubtle mockery. A zealous lore caster and a garrison excavator. So that's like kind of mid. But this is starting to. There's a picture forming with splashes happening. And then blue, or, excuse me, black, green. We have root manipulation, which I don't really want, but we do have the vicious rivalry, which is like one of the only sweepers in the format, and it actually does the job pretty good. And then a mind route, which I really like. Like, there's also a grapple with death, which I like. And then the cauldron of essence that we mentioned before. Let's see what our black looks like. Doesn't look like too much of it. There is a bitter triumph, a feed the swarm, a last gasp and a wander off. So again, a bunch of splashes. Yeah, really good splashable removal. And then our blue is essence. Scatter. Double flow state. Quick study. Sky. Skycoach conductor. I'm only reading the cards I'm actually interested in. And an orisa. And that's it. And then the other thing that you want to check is your black, white and red. White. So that means white. And so that's where you can shortcut to see if your white's good. Because if it's not, you're not doing that. And we have two interjection, an Ennis, a rape, two rapier wit, an Ajani's response, and a primary research. 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 card cards total in white. That is well below average and means it's not where we want to be. So let's start putting something together here and see if we can't put together something a little spicy. The downside that we have here, right, is that there's no clear two color base for us here. No, you've got a couple, like, pockets of like, right. You know, four good green black cards and, you know, two really good blue, red, rares. But. But exactly. I'm not seeing anything jump out. So what I would do next here, sometimes you have like, like, you know, six white cards and tons of Red and blue cards. And it's like. Okay, I'll just start by laying that out. I think I would probably lay out what it looks like. What if you just played all your good cards first? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Good cards plus fixing, basically. So that means green. So I'm going to put my. The green cards that I'm actually interested in playing here, and then I'll put in all my good cards. So like Sennar Splatter Technique, Traumatic Critique. Put in this land. I'll put in the Cauldron, The Grapple, the Mind Roots, the rivalry. Some more. Dual Lands. Sure. I'll put Cody down there. Even though this doesn't look like it's going to be a thing of the red cards. The Mockery, the tablet, the Double Tone Blast. Sure. The Lower Caster. I guess I'll put the Garrison in there. I don't want any of these black cards. All the good removal here. So that's bitter triumph. Feed the Swarm, Last gasp, Wander off. Don't want anything else for blue. I want Disdainful Stroke, Scatter, Double Flow State. Quick Study Conductor, maybe Orisa and probably got to consider Procrastinate here. There is actually double form of Amity, but the black, white gold cards are Render Speechless, which I love. Social Snub, which is Mid and then Snooping Page and Killian's Confidence, which we don't really have the deck for those. But I'm just going to put all the duels in here just to kind of get it. Yeah, it's kind of awkward that you do have four black duels that. That are not helping you a ton here. Yeah. I think what I'd like to do here is see what blue, black green looks like and then see if we could stretch our mana for double splashes like Splatter Technique work. You know, you're not going to be able to double splash that, but you know, traumatic critique you can. So let me. Because some of these red cards are mediocre anyway, so I'm going to cut them. I'll leave Traumatic Critique in there because it's just such a great finisher. So if I do that, that leaves us with a primary blue, green, black deck. And then right now we have a traumatic critique as well. So that leaves us currently with 44 cards, seven of which are creatures. Less important than the actual creature part is like, how are you winning the game? And Snarl Song. Traumatic critique. But you have no way to bring cards back from the graveyard. Right. This is a big problem. My Brain went to the same place is going to run into a. Into the issues closing things out. It will 100 not be able to close out games consistently enough. It will be able to get to that point but like it is not reliable to rely on a traumatic critique to finish the game. You have to get it up to too much damage to actually be able to. To win. If it's kind of the only thing you have going. And one trap that you can find yourself in is since the removal is so good in this format, like even this deck just has tons of good removal. What you can do is you can snipe a bunch of their stuff but not have a way to buy anything back. And then you go haha ha. My big finish is snarl song. And your opponent has been sitting on their very good removal that entire time. And they just bite the bullet and two for one themselves to kill both of your tokens. And if you don't have any long term recursion plan, you got nowhere to go after that. So this deck really does need some help in that way. And I don't know exactly what to do about it. You know, cards like Zealous Lore Caster are the type of card that can help mitigate that. So like we could get that in there. It is a little bit of a weird splash, but we could do it. I do like Lord Casters. I mean that's what I was looking for is as a way to get a spell back. Since you have so many pretty strong spells. Right. We also could consider coding like our creatures. We don't have very many. You don't have that many. It's true. And some of them are cuttable. Like we don't need infirmary healer. Yeah. Yeah. I mean the other thing is like Cody does not mean you can play no creatures. It just means Walton play. You can't. And if it's in play, usually your opponent's gonna try to kill it. So I. I do think the Lore caster is a good splash though. I. I think that that actually shores up cauldron Vessence. Does not look like a card that's going to be too functional. No, I think you're right. Yeah. So let's kill that. It's sad because it's a. It's a pretty dang strong card. But you need a lot of creatures because you need some in the yard and on board and they have to be somewhat expendable. So I put Cody in. I put in the Lore caster. I cut the newt. What is that doing in There. Tabulator. Just. Tabulator just, like, absolutely smuggled its way onto this, I guess. Sky Coach conductor could probably go to Emil. I guess. Vaseline. I mean, I guess Asin Scavenger maybe is okay, but the. The like, I don't think I ever really want to cast bind to life. It mills for seven, and it'll miss, like, a lot. I mean, you gotta play this card, though. This card is just too strong to not just play it for stats. Yeah. And they're gonna try to kill it. And you can also just. You can still cast the bind. It's still fine to do. Like, obviously, you could. You could end up in a spot where you're just not getting anything back, but. I don't know. I see. Oh, yeah. Maybe I keep that one. Would you keep sky coach conductor or infirmary healer? I think I'd keep Sky coach conductor. Just hate giving. I wouldn't mind. Look at your deck again real quick. Or look at your pool again. Is there a way to replace both with something? Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, because if we. Are we in a spot where we could consider playing out a red removal spell? Yeah. Yeah. Unsubtle mockery could make it like, unsung mockery would be the one that I would be most interested in, I think. And kill these. That puts us to four creatures. Hey, now this. Now we're cooking with fire here, Louise. And those creatures are Cody Vasselin, Scavenger, Emil, which we could also. Emil is actually, like, a win condition. It is a win condition. It's just that when you only play a couple creatures, this is. This is gonna sound silly, but do you have that raised head in your pool? Oh, yeah. That's interesting. No, you don't. Yeah. Because I actually would consider playing it here, even with very few creatures I could play. Forum Necro scribe. Yeah, I was looking at that because having a way to get back your lore caster is pretty important. It really is. It really, really is. Maybe Cauldron of essence just. That's too rough, though. I feel like you're not gonna actually. Definitely. I think the Necro Scribe probably is, too. Yeah, that's probably a bit too. Too ambitious is my guess. We got a lot of dual hands. We have six of them. Yeah. I think this is pretty close to where we want to be. It's just this is one of those decks where, like, you can't really play it loose. Right. You can't just be like, well, I just have so much stuff. I can just sort of wholesale throw spells at my. This deck is Going to have like an actual issue, like winning the game. I think so. Like, I'm not saying that this deck is bad. I'm saying that you can't just be like, there's some decks where you just know you've got a couple recursion loop loops where it's like, I've got a diversion equation in the wisdom of the ages. I can just fire off all my stuff. This is going to be a deck that's like, I kind of got to hold this traumatic critique. This might be. This might be important to. To hold. Here is chat. Wants to know if Cody's worth it with X spells and converge. Yeah, I mean it. Cody's really good with converge, depending on what you're casting. And it's really good with X spells too. I mean, it still ramps. Like, I know it doesn't. You can't hit them off of it. But. But yeah. I mean, a lot of times the power of Cody is turn three, you play this, then turn four, you have five mana of every. Every color and you can just start firing stuff off. Yeah, I think. I think. I think Cody is enough of a threat that like, I. I would probably lean towards playing it even if obviously it's not perfect in your deck. Right. Okay. So here's the deck. Brace yourself. Disdainful stroke essence scatter two flow state, bitter triumph, feed the swarm. Last gasp. Shared R. And you did read that, right? There's no creatures. Quick study, unsubtle mockery. Emil Vaseline, scavenger grapple with death. Mine roots. Cody and potioners trove at the three. Four is wander off and vicious rivalry. Five is embrace the paradox. Six is a splashed and pretty important zealous lore caster as well as Snarlsong one of our best cards. And then an expel is traumatic critique and a procrastinate our mana base. I wonder if we can even do it like this. Impeccable. Three islands, three swamps, a mountain, four forest, two form of Amity, a spectacle summit. Two fields of strife which are just red with white for free and a dream root, cascade, which is the. The blue green. Yeah. I wish you. I wish you didn't have four white duels. That's what it was. That's the color you care about least. Let's see. Maybe. Maybe we could change that. I could get us a primary research with only a couple targets or in a Johnny's response. Is there any of the. Is there any of these red white cards that we would want a wilt in the heat? No. What about a Render speechless. It's a, I mean, it's a good card. I don't know that I would. You're not gonna have a creature. No. Target. Yeah, I was gonna. You're not gonna have a creature and play it often. It's kind of my concern, but, yeah, I agree. I agree. We could go for the splatter technique. I don't know if that's. That's, I think, also a bit ambitious is my guess. Yeah. Okay, well, we'll. We'll lock it in. This is my amazing pool. This is a deck that I would hope to get my gems back with with. This is not like it has a lot of power to it, but the man is going to be a little bumpy, and there's going to be games where we just have too much air. If an opponent has a really good silver quill start against a deck like this, like you, you end up leaning on your vicious rivalry and that type of stuff really, really hard, and it can be difficult to come back. Typically, in my experience, this type of deck doesn't quite have what it takes to get all the way to the bottom boxes, but you can pick up some wins with it and, you know, get your gems back and just reload and try again, and sometimes that's. That's just fine. Okay, Luis, let's call it a show there. This format ended up being good, man. I mean, we haven't done the sunset show for it, but, like, I've played a ton of it now. Lots of sealed, lots of draft, and it's. It ended up being good. Yeah, I think it's like a totally fine format. Yeah. Okay, let's call it a show there. Thank you so much for hanging out with us. If you want to find us on social media, Marshall Underscore LR and Luis's lsv, pretty much everywhere. If you want to. If you want to support us directly, you can go to patreon.com limited resources to do so. We also want to thank our sponsor, Ultimate Guard, for their support of the show. Make sure that you check out Luis's YouTube channel. Is the streak still alive? Luis, are you multiple power per draft for like a month straight, still going, or. Well, I, I, I, I don't know about multiple, but. But I have yet to have a draft without power. I mean, I guess I had, like, maybe one or two this month, but for the most part, yeah, I've been averaging more than one per piece per draft. It's been crazy. It's been fun. Yeah, that's. It's really Fun to watch. That is LSV on YouTube. You can also find everything related to the podcast over@lrcast.com that's going to do it for this one. We'll see you next week. All right, Marshall, at the risk of showing you something that's on Twitter, I want to talk to you about one of the dumbest main character sagas that I've seen on Twitter. And so I'm going to start by reading you this tweet. This is a tweet that's kicked off, like, now three days of discourse or two days of discourse. And I've seen it all over. Okay, so this guy who works at an ice cream shop says, I worked really hard on developing a vegan UBE ice cream recipe for work, and look how pretty she is. Zero artificial colors or flavors. And maybe the perfect special to bridge Aapi and pride months. And it's like a picture of, like, kind of like purple. Yeah, purple color. Okay. Yeah, yeah, sounds nice. They make pancakes out of that. Yeah. UBE is. Is. Is actually. Is. Has become much more popular. And vegan UBE ice cream with coconut milk is also a pretty popular dessert, especially in the Philippines. Can you guess what the controversy about this came from? No. How could that be controversial? That sounds totally not controversial. A lot of people, a lot at this point have come to interpret this as this guy saying, I invented UBE ice cream, which is absolutely not what he's saying. He was saying he works in an ice cream shop. When you say, I'm developing a flavor, it doesn't mean I invented. It's like. It's like, if you were to say, I want. Well, you know, my Italian restaurant wants to offer lasagna. Well, what lasagna recipe do you use? You don't just, like, find a recipe online and use it. Your chef develops it and figures out things like, how does this interact with the ice cream machine we have? Does the. You know what proportions I use? Because what ingredients do we have access to? Right. A lot of restaurants that you go to are going to have their own slightly different marinara sauce recipe. And you can tell that because you go to different places and they taste different. Right. They don't just pull from a fake thing. The amount of vitriol this guy has faced, no way. Incredible. Because they. A lot of people seem to think he's taking credit for inventing UBE ice cream, which is, again, very much not. The discourse has got so unbelievably bad that I hesitate to even want to go deeper. But it's just because I just keep seeing this on Twitter, and I just like, wow, is this really not died yet? And look, there's a lot of complexities here, and I don't to want. Really want to try to, you know, I don't want to veer too far to my lane trying to explain exactly what all of them are. And I totally understand. A lot of people kind of feel protective of their. Their or their culture's recipes and, like, the, you know, kind of like the implication that, like, oh, this and the guy's white, obviously. I think you can tell from the discourse that, like, you know, oh, this white guy saying he invented ube ice cream or he's gentrifying it or whatever. And a lot of that is, like, valid discourse as well. Well, I mean, there are good conversations to be had about that, I guess. In theory, I haven't seen any, but in this particular case, this would be the equivalent of, like, this guy saying, hey, I'm developing a new lasagna recipe for, you know, Italian history month or whatever, and Italians getting mad that he's saying he invented lasagna, which is just like, not what a. It goes back productive. It just goes back to the classic pancake waffles tweet, which is like someone saying, I love waffles. And then their response is, what, you hate pancakes? It's like, no, I didn't say that. I just said I love waffles. And that's just, you know, obviously social media in a nutshell. So I'm sure you don't regret abstaining from Twitter to the amount that you do, but I just. I just had to tell you about this, Sam.
