In our massive country, there are card collectors throughout the land participating in the hobby. There's Mike of Junk Wax Hero and Greg of Midlife Cards. And while distance may separate them, here is where they come together to talk cards. Hey, buddy. It is another week, another episode. Excited to talk to you. There have been many things happening in my life. Your life, the world. Yu-Gi-Oh it's. It's been a wild week. My back problems came back. Greg and I Goldin record this week in Sports Cards with Teapot. Teapot was extremely flexible and understanding. He's. He's offering to record with somebody else for me, but it was last minute and I was just like, I can't do it. But now I'm on day two of my second prednisone regimen, and I'm hungry, man. I can't. I can't. Can't eat enough steroids. Steroids make you hungry. And the doctor actually warned me about roid rage, too. So patch auto patch auto That I want to see. I'm actually sitting here watching your Monday episode because I had skipped over the Monday episode. I had watched your Wednesday and Friday, and I have the Monday episode. I've just started, and I'm sorting through cards that I haven't looked at in a couple of years. And here is my childhood Canseco. You and David chase on your midlife car chase last week, talked about your childhood. David talked about his childhood. Kenseco. This is my most important card from my childhood. And I got it signed, obviously, a few years ago. So I was thrilled to pull that out of my box this morning. And now it's going to go up on my wall. I also pulled out some TTM ers that I did a few years ago. Ryan Sandberg. Yu-Gi-Oh Also, guys, so these are rookie hall of Fame cards. This is not a rookie. This is the Rookie Cup, The Hawk. That's a great card, by the way. Yu-Gi-Oh his autograph's amazing. And then I've got. I did. I have three Mike Musina. So these are gonna go up my wall. I'm not getting them authenticated, at least not at this point. Maybe I will with CGC at some point, but it's not a priority. Now, will those go into Penny sleever? The Panic Sleever? One touches? You bet. Yes. I just did a big order with him the other day. Not sponsored, by the way, but I just did a big order the other day. Bought a bunch of slab protector sleeves, and I bought a bunch of one touches, and I bought a bunch of semi rigids so, Yu-Gi-Oh I actually, I have a bunch of old mags that I bought during the pandemic, like early 2021. And so I was digging those out because I was running out of penny sleever mags. And the quality difference is vast. These old ones that I have, and I actually have some from various different companies, and they're just deeply inferior. Now, there's a few things I want to talk about. I do want to at least talk briefly about. This is what the card show culture is like right now, because I set up at a card show with my dad on Saturday, and then Jeremy from California, he went to Strongsville 2025 for people that were at that show. He, he came out and it was, it was extremely interesting because it, it was a 50 Pokemon, 50 card show. And he, he prides himself, this dealer or the promoter on having a fair amount of, of sports cards. And there were, it was, it was literally 50, 50, I believe, and a fair amount of vintage. He, he likes vintage cards. And he, so if there's a vintage dealer, they go kind of tucked to the top of the list because he wants that to be in the room and stuff. And my question to you is, out of all of the players out there, what do you think was the name that was asked about, talked about, pulled out of cases the most out of every athlete? Who do you think was the conversation guy? I keep hearing people talk about Satchel Page at these card shows. Like, he's, and that surprises me. Like, I can't, I don't, I don't know why Satchel Paige would be the top guy that people would talk about or ask for. Was it Satch? Well, I, I, that's a great guess. And I probably just misled you because I talked about there being some, a fair amount of vintage dealers, and there was some vintage in the room, but there wasn't like that kind of vintage in the room. So I, I'm gonna backtrack and, and say 50% sports, 50% Pokemon. What do you think? Don't forget the vintage part for a second because I missed. I, I steered you down a road, my friend, and then I, I ran you into a ditch, and then. So take another crack at it. So you're staring me into Pokemon now because I know. No, no, no, no, no. It's a sports card guy. Oh, boy. So modern. I'm guessing it's a, it's a. Okay. George Lombard Jr. Oh, I did see one of his first Bowman autos with a price tag of a thousand dollars. Is that all before he got pulled out of the game last night for an injury. Um, it. God help me if they pull Volpe back up. He. It was Barry Bonds now. Yu-Gi-Oh I live in Northern California, obviously, and so Barry Bonds is. It's a little bit different here, but it was, it was like Barry Bonds. Like I had two Barry Bonds cards in my case that I brought that were like, make me sell this card price. And they were just constantly being asked to see them. Sold one of them at 3x what I paid for it 3, 4 weeks ago. And I literally said to the guy, I go, listen, the reason this price is on there is because I don't really want to sell it. Like I. If you don't want to buy it, totally cool. And he goes, no, I want to buy it. And it was, it was literally 3x what I paid wasn't a Zebra expensive card, but I mean, Bonds stuff was hot. And, and then I was talking to a couple of guys, I was like, so it's going to be interesting to see what happens if some of these PED guys start kind of get some steam and the guy goes, that's what I'm get. That's what I'm buying right now. Because they've shunned all the PED guys in the hobby and in, in the hall of Fame and all this. He goes, if, if Bonds is taking off like Bonds is taken off, who's next? The guys. That's gotta be Clemens. Clemens, McGuire. Yu-Gi-Oh but the only guy who's on Bonds's level is Clemens is disliked more than McGuire. But McGuire and Sosa aren't on that level of great baseball players. They were just great home run hitters. Although Sosa before the steroids could also run the bases very well. But Bonds was a great baseball player and Clemens is one of the, if not arguably the greatest pitcher of all time. And so sure, Clemens is disliked. He's why he's unlikable. But hey, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Don't say unlikable. But Barry Bond, no, he's unlikable, but Barry Bonds was not liked either when he was a player. He's, he's rehabilitating his image out in San Francisco where he's out riding his bike with people every day, or he was five, six years ago and I assume he still is. But I, I don't think people love Barry Bonds as a human being. He's just a human highlight reel. And yes, yes, the A hundred percent. I have a question for my Q and A that will Be coming out tomorrow as this airs and it's. It's along the lines of that. Exactly that and I'll dig into that. Now another thing that happened this week was there was a Fanatics premiere auction and I'm gonna pull up some cards here. We've got a 20, Topps Dynasty Shohei logo man 1 of 1 sold for 1.14 million. Then you've got I don't know what this is. This is I think a Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh it says Pokemon card that sold for over a million. Then we've got a 2026 Topps Chrome MVP award winner Aaron Judge dual logo man patch auto one of one. And it's only CGC authentic. It's not even is that. Well I guess it's just the redemption so it shouldn't be graded yet. So that makes sense. 900,000. Now I get the Topps mantle. Don't, don't blow by the mantle though because that mantle in a six without an Yu-Gi-Oh appeal sticker outsold the last highest six by more than double. The highest six before was $319,000. Was that on clearing the bases? Yu-Gi-Oh I covered this on clearing the bases Sunday morning. The highest seven before this month, August I should say before August was under 690,000. So this 6 outsold the previous high 7. Although a 7 outsold at in August without an Yu-Gi-Oh appeal sticker. And so now you have to ask are we too smart for I appeal stickers? Do we need the Yu-Gi-Oh appeal stickers? I'm sure we'll talk about it. We've got that. I'm really glad you pointed that out. See that's. I've been so slammed at work with this new job which has actually been fun. But it's been fun. I mean what did I just say? Yu-Gi-Oh it's been good. I'm glad you pointed that out because that's a really important piece of information. The 202003 exquisite collection number pieces LeBron James rookie patch auto out of 23 sold for 588 000. There's an Fleer Michael Jordan rookie auto. The card received an 8. The auto received a 10. And I'm watching this, I'm watching this on Jeremy Lee's Sports Cards Live. And I'm looking and they're talking about all these cards and they're going through it. In fact I was driving home because it was Thursday. I was driving home from Lucy's game in Saratoga which was three hours from here and I was listening to that most more than watching. And I'm looking at some of these cards but like let's take this Jordan right here, the PSA 8 auto 10 rookie card. FLIR rookie card. And let's take this LeBron James Exquisite Collection card out of 23 patch auto. It's even got like a few couple colors in there and this, the, the redemption and then the Shohei. The thing about a card like that is not only is it crazy expensive, but they're literally like close to one of a kind. You know, they're probably all the patches don't look like this. Yep. So do you put things like this in the mail, Mike? Oh, absolutely not. Up until recently, if. Unless. So obviously the most expensive card I've ever, ever bought is 2500. So I'm not flying to pick up or sell that type of card. But if I were to, I would want some sort of a courier service if I were to buy or sell a big expensive card like this. And that's one of the things we're going to announce right now is Jeremy talked about it a little bit on his, on his sports cards live on Saturday night. But we're announcing a partnership with Grailguard and their website is Grailguard Yu-Gi-Oh and grailguard is a courier service. Now I know that some people out there go, oh, you know, really like, do I need a courier service? Well, let me give you an example of a card I have. Okay. I have my pirate cards that I love and a lot of them, the population is between like 15 and 30 of them that are known to exist. And I have a Blackbeard card in an SGC5. And I brought it with me to the national because there was a little tiny crack chip on the case and I wanted to get it re slabbed. So I brought it with me to the national. I Tribute it off to SGC and I said like, I'm gonna freak out until this is back in my hands because it's not replaceable. You can't replace a mid grade card that there's only 30 total of. You can't do that. So I paid, I think I paid $150 for immediate turnaround and expedited shipping home. So this is, this is like a $6,000 card. And between the expedited shipping, the immediate turnaround time, I spent like $200 because I needed it back in my hands as soon as possible. And I would have loved to have seen the midlife freak out there on the national Fleer I would have been, I wouldn't have Been trying to help you out. I've been recording it for a video. Yu-Gi-Oh that would have been fantastic now. So I do think it's one of those things where, you know, we don't, we have. I, we've both had. And the, the Clubhouse has had a lot of companies talk about partnerships and, and partnering with us. And the lens that you and I both have had is we want a product that we actually think helps our audience. That's important. So, you know, it does. I don't, I don't know an amount of money that you could get some of these repackers or gambling websites to offer us for us to cave to that. Like, it's just not going to happen. I don't want to promote something that I don't think is actually going to help people. And, and that's an example of something that I don't think helps people. But then you hear about some of these stories and I'm going to pull up for a second, you know, Jeremy Lee. And this was kind of a pivotal point for me because right after this is when Grailguard reached out to us and there was. And I could play a clip of it if we want. But this is the story where Steve here bought a $500,000 Tom Brady card and from. As one does, as one, as, as, as one could do potentially. And Bruce here brokered the deal. Now Bruce, who sat about 10ft from me in the lounge of the hotel at the national and awkwardly had a couple of interactions with Joshua Adams in the restaurant slash lobby, which was, I was ducking under, you know, the covers for. Yes, for sure. And David Chase here was also hanging out and Jeremy was busy that night. But you hear about these stories where Steve, to this day, Steve sent $500,000 for a Tom Brady card that he never received. Yu-Gi-Oh And, and then you have a company and showing their website now grow guard. This is literally an opper opportunity to prevent that from happening. It's not just sometimes that the card is, is financially valuable. Sometimes it's about the fact that the, the item is irreplaceable. And here they have pricing on here. You know, you can see this is not going to be for, you know, your hundred dollar, you know, Mark McGuire card. But. And then you can see down here where they have careers. So literally all across the United States they have background checked careers and you can see their partners. And I'm, I'm Zebra excited to be partnering with them. Not just our own channels, but also the clubhouse. Is this, is this something that I mean obviously we think we need it because you hear, I mean your channel tell, tell me like, because I know your channel does your weekly stuff on, on your Sunday, clearing the bases. How often is there a story about a card in the mail being lost? Too often to be quite honest Greg, because oftentimes I'll see these stories. I'm like geez, I just covered one of these two weeks ago. Do I want to do, do I want to be the guy who covers male theft stories all the time? And like we just had in Lewiston, Maine, which is down the street from me, a usps, a postal worker was arrested for stealing items out of the mail. And I don't think there were sports cards necessarily, but this happens all the time. FedEx worker a month ago, these, it's way too common. And we get, as you said, we get pitched a lot for sponsorships and you and I are very skeptical and I'm sure Jeremy and Adam too of any company that comes to us, we're very skeptical and we reject 90 some odd percent of potential sponsorships. But when Grailgar came to us we, they, you know, they had this nice pitch and we said okay, we'll meet with you and we'll talk to you about it. And we met these guys at the national and we, they have an amazing collection. First of all they're collectors that are former baseball players and we hammered them on questions about the background checks, the process, who's care, who are these couriers? How does this work exactly what is the protection? And they had answers for everything. And it keeps, in fact since then, that was like six weeks ago that we first talked to them. There they are. Have tightened it up even further since then and we felt good about it then and they've, they've made this great website. They are announcing partnerships like they just announced Greg Morris as you showed on, on the website. I am confident, I have no inside information here but I'm confident that they will have more partnerships with big auction houses, big marketplaces. Look at this one coming soon. CIA coming soon. And I'm sure that you're going to see this because this is a legit company with massive potential. Not for me because I'm not selling million dollar cards. But we have a lot of viewers and you don't, they don't talk in the comments about their big buys but you and I get private messages from our viewers all the time where they've bought a six figure card or a million dollar card. And this is the type of thing that appeals to those people who are big buyers. Or it could be somebody who has a $10,000 card that's irreplaceable, like you said, that it's worth paying up to make sure it gets to them or to the auction house. Yu-Gi-Oh And. And it's also interesting because it's not just sports cards. It's a, it's a courier service. And, and I think because they're collectors and they have big cards and they have a great collection, this is sort of like a big piece of it. But there are other things that at times you want to make sure that you can transport them and transport them safely. And, and again, this is, this is not just insurance. Like. Yu-Gi-Oh You know, you, if you have a lot of insurance, like, I'm sure Ash has a lot of insurance. I'm sure Goldin has a lot of insurance. And so something gets lost. I'm sure there could be an insurance claim and after, you know, a few months, you get your money back, but that doesn't replace the item. You know, those cards that were stolen at the Dallas card show, theft are gone. As far as we know right now, they're gone. We don't know where they are. And those are some low population big cards that just disappear. So again, I mean, I personally, I, I'm, I'm really excited. I'm really proud to, you know, join these guys and, and help kind of spread the word about Grail Guard. And like you said, just seeing some of the cards that pop up in my monthly show and tell episodes, there are people that are quietly in the shadows that are collecting unbelievable cards. And they may not be the people you hear about all the time, but I, I know for a fact that there are a lot of people that listen and watch both of our channels and this channel that have collections that are off the charts. Yu-Gi-Oh And who has time to fly across the country when for a little bit more than your plane ticket, you could have it brought to you. Yep. So now there were a couple other things that I wanted to talk, we wanted to talk about. One of them is pricing apps, because I have heard so much. Even Jeremy Lee the other day, there's are, I mean, we could even talk about Adam and Dylan and what Alan Dylan had to say the other day about cards skyrocketing in prices and a lot of the Yu-Gi-Oh appeal movement, whether they're stickered, whether they're not stickered, it's affecting prices. And so where do you want to start with this? Because this was actually a topic that you kind of brought up. So I don't want to introduce it incorrectly. So what, Tell us about, about what you were thinking. Well, let's talk about Chris Sewell first because he is a sponsor of the show and Chris is an amazing guy. The best dealer out there in my opinion. Chris Sewell Sports cards. Sewell Sports Cards. Collector, investor, dealer, in that order. If you're selling part or all of your collection, why wouldn't you reach out to Chris and just say, hey, what can you give me for these cards? He'll give you a very transparent offer and he is fair and amazing and just a really nice, trustworthy guy. Chris Sewell, CID cards dot com. Check them out. Absolutely. And go ahead. No, I was just going to move on to the next topic. The, the, the one that Adam and Dylan brought up. But if you have something else to say, go ahead. No, no, no, I was just gonna say, Yu-Gi-Oh Chris is cool. Yu-Gi-Oh he is. So Adam talked about cards going up in value and how it makes him like them even more, which was this really thought provoking thing to me. And I think, I think, I agree with him. Like if I have a ten dollar card and all of a sudden it becomes a two hundred card, do I like that card more? I might. Is that weird? That's. I, I think that's true for me. What about you? Yu-Gi-Oh it's one of those things where for some reason it feels like a lot of people in the community and when I say community, I mean YouTube community. They one-of-one say certain things out loud. It's like you're not supposed to like your hundred dollar card that you bought that turned into a $10,000 card. You're not supposed to like it more because the card didn't change and that means you like value. And for some reason that is wrong. You're not supposed to like value. But, but then sometimes people actually say what they think. And Adam said it and I, there is absolutely something to it. It's like there's a card that you buy and you go, I think this is a special card. I think that other people aren't acknowledging that this is a special card. And then you buy it when it's cheap and then it goes way up. And then I think part of what that does is it kind of reaffirms to you see, I knew it. I knew that was a special card. And it's the validation. Not that I need validation, but it is nice when you have one video get 2000 views versus a video that flops and gets 200 views. It. You feel like, okay, I did do. I did. I thought it was a good episode. I'm glad that people thought that. And so sometimes when the price of something that you bought before it exploded then explodes, it's the validation that you were right, that you were ahead of the curve. That was something special that other people hadn't noticed yet. And it doesn't make me like the card more necessarily, but it makes me feel like kind of probably crowd like, Yu-Gi-Oh okay, maybe. Maybe I am not an idiot. Like, like your child has always been average. Not your child, Greg, but your child has always been average. And then all of a sudden they find that thing that is. That separates them from other people and they, all of a sudden they're excelling at something and you don't love the child more, but you, you know, there's a. I don't know, there's a pride. There's a pride. More pride. Yu-Gi-Oh And I think your, your comparison to Video View, you know, I did the top 100 ACE 100 list. I had attainable collection of MV100, and I loved that series, but it never got the views I expected it to get, and it was deeply disappointing, and I got frustrated with it, but I still loved it. And I finished it and I tried all kinds of things to, to juice the views, better thumbnails, better titles. It just never hit with people. The people who watched it loved it, but I just Goldin get people to patch auto And so it's kind of like what Adam is talking about. And by the way, if you're not already watching Turn Back the Clock here on Sportscard Clubhouse, why not? That show is amazing. Those guys, Adam and Dylan, have great rapport. Dylan's always smiling. I don't know how he does it. There's always a smile on that guy's face. He. The two of them together are quite a duo, and I love watching and listening to them. Yu-Gi-Oh there are certain duos that there's like a ying and a yang. It's sort of like, you know, Jake and, and Matt. Like, you know, there's, there's, there's one of each. You know, it kind of fits right. You know, Petty and Tony, you know, and I think that Adam and Dylan are very much that way where, you know, you. It's, it's like a, A marriage. You know, you usually have a spender and a saver. You know, you have an introvert and an extrovert. Not always, but a lot of the time you tend to kind of have your, you know, the oil in the water and then it mixes and it's, it's, it's wonderful. And they definitely have that. And Yu-Gi-Oh their episodes, I love it when I've, for years I've told those two that some of my favorite episodes each month are when they would do turn back the clock. And so the fact that they're doing them now on a network that I'm a part of makes me especially happy because I've always been a big believer and a big fan of their stuff. And you know, they both love cards, they both are passionate about cards. They collect differently, but they have some similarities. But Yu-Gi-Oh that was Zebra fun to hear that. Now let me ask you the, the thing that we were going to talk about a second ago too is as the prices are going up and I think that some of the pricing apps, and there are several out there, you know, again, full des, full, you know, transparency. I have a partnership with, with Card Ladder and Card Ladder is the one that I prefer. It's the one that I use, it's the one that I promote. And you know, we have a promo code through SportsCard Clubhouse SCC where you can get a benefit at 20% off for a year and you have a partnership as well. So full transparency on that regard. But I don't think that really is relevant to this conversation. But I do feel the need to say it. You kind of had a belief or a thought about maybe something that some of the pricing apps should start to consider. So why don't you share that first? Yu-Gi-Oh So I'm sure that they're all working on adding in some way to account for NBA stickers. But what if, like you and me, we're not getting our cards stickered but they still have amazing Yu-Gi-Oh appeal. And if you could say, okay, this card in a five, it's, let's just look at my wall here. Say Ozzy Smith rookie card in a five is worth, I don't know, 200. I'm just making that number up. I don't really know. But your card you believe in very subjectively think that it has high Yu-Gi-Oh appeal. And so there could be a pop up that says how is the Yu-Gi-Oh appeal on this? And be like a three. Three options there. One of them is high Yu-Gi-Oh appeal, one of them is normal Yu-Gi-Oh appeal and one of them is low Yu-Gi-Oh appeal. And the high, I click on high Yu-Gi-Oh appeal. And subjectively, obviously, because you're the one who's determining it, it's not some sticker based Yu-Gi-Oh appeal thing. It increases the value. So if the two. If the five in a normal Yu-Gi-Oh appeal is worth $200, now, you have designated as high I appeal. And the app, let's just say card ladder could then do a multiplier to say, okay, this one's now worth $240, $250. But if you think it has low Yu-Gi-Oh appeal, like a lot of those Ozzie Smith rookie cards do, all of a sudden it's worth 160 or something like that. But if it's just normal Yu-Gi-Oh appeal, it's worth whatever the normal 5 is worth. I think that there would be a lot of value in that, and I think something like that has to be coming, and. And it would be interesting. But it's also interesting because in the Turn Back the Clock episode just the other day, Dylan was saying, I want to not know the values. He was saying, I want the values hidden, because he doesn't want that to affect what he thinks about the card, is the value impacting it? He wants the card to affect it. So it's. It's interesting. And, you know, and it goes to Jeremy Lee's Hobby Spectrum, where some people care a lot about what is my collection worth. And for some of that, it might partly be to what we were just talking about, being that it could present validation for us about, you know, something that we bought. And other people, they don't want to know it all. Like, they. They want to be completely in the dark. And then I think a lot of people are somewhere in between those two. And I could see some people go, well, I want to turn that feature off. And I think a lot of people who pride themselves on being high I appeal collectors. So what are the. What are the high I appeal ones selling for? Or what are the ones that are stickered selling for? The ones that I could see that kind of being intriguing for them because there are a lot of people who do care about values of cards, and I don't know if you saw it. A channel that I love. I've loved for five, six, seven years before I was doing my own channel. One of my favorite channels, and it's still one of my favorite channels, is. Is Silver Jackify. I watched his video. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, love he is. The thing I love about him is he just doesn't care. He just is having fun saying what he thinks, doing what he thinks. He'll go through, like, boxes of vintage at a show, and he'll get a card and go, I want to see what grade that gets. So he'll send it in and then he'll get it back and go. They don't really know why I graded that. I mean it's only graded like a 4 or 5, but it doesn't make sense financially grade it. But whatever, it was fun. And he'll buy packs and he'll rip stuff and he'll pull stuff and, and he does the, the who is it that has the, the monthly boxes with Wax Filmington. I think he, he's a subscriber to Filmington's Explosion Box or whatever it's called. And, and he went heavy into this the other day about his thoughts and there are sometimes that. It definitely feels like some people when they say things, they're a little bit guarded on what they're willing to say because it may not be popular. And I, I wonder sometimes, do people think I'm guarded? I wonder myself, am I being guarded? I don't think think I'm being guarded, but am I being guarded? And then Joe just gets out there and says exactly what he thinks. Yu-Gi-Oh What was your takeaway on that episode? It was interesting that he talked about how he used to say I'm a true collector, I don't sell cards. And now he said he was a little dismissive of those people in that past attitude he had had And I, I get it. I, I kind of feel like I was one of those people a couple of years ago and now I think about value more and it might, might be market based, it might be because I, I use card ladder every day and I see the values. I'm not really sure what changed, but I definitely think about the values. Although I'm not selling much, it is more important to me now than it used to be. Although I've never called my. I don't think I've ever called myself a true collector because I don't really know what the definition of true collector really is. Depends on who you ask. Yu-Gi-Oh here is Silver Jack. If I. Again it's at Silver Jackify and this is the episode in question. He posted it as we're recording this three days ago. So a half a week to a week ago as you're maybe listening to this. And it has at this point it already has 2, 000 views. And he says my top secrets and opinions of baseball card cards in the hobby. And. And then he shows off a big card that he bought and it was a Zebra fun episode. And I just love his candor. Yu-Gi-Oh I, I just love his authentic candor of what he thinks and how he doesn't really care if people agree with him or not. Don't you think if Joe were to do videos more often, he would be a massive hit? His personality. I want to watch all of his videos. He's got this great personality. He's. He's got a lot of charisma. He's honest. I would watch a lot more of his videos if he did more of them. And he used to have his dad on. His dad is in his 80s, and he used to, like, talk with his dad about baseball and cards, and his dad was hilarious. So it's not even wor. It's not even just his new stuff. Sometimes you got to go back and watch some of those old episodes. I had one of my midlife lives he was on. It was him and Mike Moynihan and John Keating, and I had a lot raising the group. Isn't that a great group? And so, Yu-Gi-Oh I'm a huge fan of him, and. And it was a great episode. But, Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, back to the point, though. The main point being values and caring about values and what he basically says, and I'm paraphrasing, so if I misquote him, I apologize, but he's basically saying, if I'm spelling spending significant money. Money on cards, like, I don't want to just throw money into the wind. Like, I want the cards to be cards that I hope go up and I think might go up and. And he's, you know, been kind of on a Jackie Robinson kick. He's bought some big roots. He bought a Ruth at the Strongsville show this past year. That big collection that Mike Moynihan purchased, he bought one of the premier roots out of that collection. He recently got this 1950 Jackie Robinson, which he shows at the end of the Obsidian. In the one we're referring. And I mean, that seems reasonable. Like, if. If you have a hobby and your hobby is not, I don't know, a hobby, I feel able. I'm able to justify what I'm doing a little bit easier when I think that it's gonna go up and. And I. I don't remember if it was him or maybe it was Adam and. And Dylan when they were talking about some similar things, where I think Adam, like, was like, Yu-Gi-Oh I showed my wife, like, look what happened to this card. Look what I bought it for. Look what it's worth. And then she's like, oh, like, maybe you're not an idiot after all, you know? No, he is, though. No, I'm just kidding. And so those. Those, to me, are really interesting. They allow us to be. When I go spend any money on anything, I feel a little sense of guilt on anything that I buy anything. I go buy new shoes and I feel like, did I really need new shoes or could I have worn those ones for another two months? But when you buy stuff and then you see it has gone up and it's worth more and you could now sell it for more than what you paid for, takes a little bit of that guilt away. And I have a little bit of guilt spending money on sports cards. But that to me. And that's why I like checking the values. It's not that I'm necessarily going to sell the cards, but I like looking and going, oh, good. The cob that I bought at the 2025 national for 5K is now like a $7,500 card. Okay, good. Like, if I. If I had to get out of it, if something happened, I'm not gonna lose money. I would actually make money. I feel less guilt about it. Don't look up the Cy Young you sold me at strong unless you want to be really upset. What did I sell it to you for? And what does card ladder say it's worth? You sold it to me for $2300. I probably gave you a pro discount though, right? No, you said car ladder says it's worth like 2100 or something like that. But you paid something. You said, I just want to profit. And I said, okay. Did I? Yu-Gi-Oh And you weren't. You said, give me 2300 and it's yours. And I wasn't going to haggle with you, so I just gave you the 2300. Card ladder now says because there have been some big Cy Young sales, that the card is worth 3, 500. So I've made it's more up 4, 52% in four and a half months. The Cy Young is worth 3400. Because mine. 3500. 3500. So here's a picture of mine. Let pull up here in a two and a half. Now, halves don't sell a lot, right? So the last time. This, last time a one and a half sold was October of 2023. Really? Yu-Gi-Oh So this. They're basing this on the Cy Young index. Oh, well. So what are they saying that one's worth? It says it's worth 28.20. What a chump. Mine is. Mine is not as good as yours, clearly. I. You know, it does though. It. And let's be honest, every estimate of a card's value that hasn't sold in a year or two. Or this one. I think it says the last one. The last time this card was sold in a two and a half. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, it's a beautiful card. You don't have to remind me of it. And you know the provenance of that card too, by the way. Yu-Gi-Oh Yep. Yu-Gi-Oh The last time this card sold in a two and a half, 2016. Could that be right? Or is it that the last time this one sold? It's, it's, you know, it makes you feel a little bit of validation. It takes a little bit of the pressure off because you go, oh, good. If something were to happen, I'm not going to lose money. It's a, it's a, it's a safe place to store money when you, when you see it going up. But if it went down, I don't know how much I would freak out either, if I'm being honest. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I sold, I bought the Mantle Topps for 2200. Back in ballpark memories, right? Ballpark memories. Car ladder says because of all these huge Mantle sales card ladder says it's now worth $4,000. Almost doubled. It's up 7. Excuse me, 78% in three months. I mean, clearly you're a genius. Yu-Gi-Oh I think that's what we've. I think that that's what we've. I would have committed more to luck. Like the Steph Curry rookie that I bought from Leighton Sheldon that just collect at the national a year ago, 13 months ago, I paid 800 for it. 1 in. In an 8. Just sold yesterday for 3, $800. It has gone up by almost 5x in 13 months. I would sell the crap out of that. Look at this. So this is my Barry Bonds Refractor. And the reason I point to this card a lot is because this is the first time I've spent serious money on a what I consider a modern card. This is a 93 Finest Refractor Berry Bonds. And I remember buying this. And you can see right here, I paid $1,250 and I showed this card. I sent this to the heartbreakers group, by the way. Shout out, Heartbreakers. I got the shirt on today. I sent this in a text to the heartbreaker group. I go look at the card I got. Then the guys are all, oh, that's cool. That's beautiful. You know, everything your buddies are supposed to say. And then I said, I sent a screenshot of the price that I paid in the next photo and. And Petty goes, holy blank. That is expensive. I can't believe those cards are that expensive. And I'm like, Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, they are, you know, but then one sold right here. The last sale was 3240. Now, I bought this card in eight in the end of April for 1250. And one just sold on a. Think it was Fanatics for 3240. And so when I. And. And again, the reason that that matters to me is not because I necessarily care that it's worth 3240. It's. I was cringing when I paid 12.50 for it. I was like, I can't believe I'm spending over a thousand dollars on a modern card. I cannot even believe it. And then now I go, I guess it wasn't the worst thing I ever did. And that takes off pressure. That's. That's what the value does for me, you know? So, Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh it. It does eat at me a bit that I have this card I spent 800 on, and now it's selling for $4,000. But I like the card, and I don't want to sell it. I am. So I could sell it. It's not a 10. That's the thing. I could sell it and get it down to a six or something. But I waited for the right eight for a long time, because eights, there's fairly significant variance in centering. And, you know, I'm a centering snob, as. As our friend David Chase would say. And so this 8 has perfect center. It looks like it should be a 10. And so do I want to sell it at 3, 800 bucks and try to get a collector flip down to a six with good centering, I would be waiting forever when I've already found the card I love. And so I'm sticking. I'm sticking. It could be worth a thousand dollars in two years. And I'm saying right now, I would be okay with that. Okay. I mean. I mean, how many? Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, if you like the card more, then somebody is willing to pay you for the card, then you should keep the card. That's the thing. When the point comes that the amount is. Because there might come a point where the amount is actually more than you care about it. That could happen. And if. And when that happens, at that point, if you wanted to sell it, you could. Yep. There is a thing that I meant to get set up with you that I didn't. I didn't set up with you, but I. I got an Incredible. I don't know if I want to do this or not. Okay, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna show you something on, on Instagram here real quick. And then we're gonna wrap this up. This is David Chase on Instagram, by the way, if you're not following David Chase on Instagram, he is freak. Oh, look at that. There's me. He is hilarious. He did one about right answer, wrong answer on Taco Bell orders that just had me in tears. He. He did this episode or this, I don't know what they call these reels or something. Yu-Gi-Oh and we can't hear. Oh, can you. Let me see if we can hear it. If I put it on, can you hear it? And all he does is he shows about his brother in law eggs once a week in the morning. And by the way, he has 13,700 followers. I was making fun of him and I said, you can do that. Anybody can do anything and get followers. I might have been wrong. It's harder than I expected. I've been doing this for like 45 days and I think I have like 888. But I. Okay, talk about charisma. Talk about charisma. She's got it. His brother in law, who he's got this bet with is Ugliness. Okay, that's the Instagram channel here. Ugliness. And so the, the I. I had a phone call with a friend yesterday and was saying, since you know David and you know yourself, Mr. Junk Wax, have this pretend faux beef. How funny would it be if we said that this episode was sponsored by Ugliness? So what I'm gonna do here, and I'm going to encourage everybody out there to do to prevent David Chase from winning the bet is to go out to Ugliness and follow. They paid us big money for this. Yes. So if you follow Ugliness, what you're doing is you're preventing David Chase from winning the bet, which is what we want. Which is, which is what Mike wants more. But yes, I am fine with it. So this is what you would be subscribing to. And he has 13, 700 followers at the moment, whereas our buddy David chase is at CO currently 921. So it's really, it's really up to all of you to keep David Chase behind. And the way you can do that is by going to Ugliness. And I'll pull it up one more time just so that we can make sure that we are subscribing for the right place. So you got Bob Boozle is now following Ugliness, Mookie Chilson is following Ugliness and yours truly. So go out, subscribe to Ugliness. Prevent David Chase from winning the steak dinner bet that he has with Mr. Ugliness. If we were really good at this podcasting thing, Greg, you would dump us into the outro as soon as I say what I'm about to say next. But that is a truly excellent account, and I'm ecstatic to promote.
