No card shops, nothing. So, nope. So what you're telling me is this is the real mic. We're not doing any AI Mike today. Did you want, you want me to get him? I'll go get him. I, I, I think for the first time ever, I think it can be said that I have been fairly peaceable and have been Switzerland. And I think it's. No, I can. I do not care if it was not fun one episode. I am okay with that. There you go. I did want to talk. I got an interesting question. I thought I would start with this if it's okay with you. So it doesn't matter for my friend. Continue. Mark Wraps on Instagram, sent me a message. He said he had actually just bought something. The last Sunday night show on ebay Live. He was like, hey, I bought some Brady's. I don't have his background. I don't know him. So it's basically, hey, I bought some Brady's. In, like, the last three months, I've gone from 3 to 10K. And so I don't care specifically about that card. But his premise was like, Don't I just sell now and be done with it? And it is an interesting question, like, because there's a lot of guys in the space. I think the collective space is one thing. And you have a very. I think we both agree very. We both agree that I'm very peaceable. And we both agree there's very few just true collectors, like people who don't sell anything. That is the tiniest minority of the hobby. Okay, agreed. I think we both think most people do a little of both. I think most people would do some buying and selling. Yeah. And so I think number one, if that is your only thing, like, I don't care if you're just the guy who collects, which is not Mark. But other people would say, well, I don't care what it's worth because I'm never selling anyways. Nothing we say will ever apply to you then. Because I think this is more focused on just the majority of people. And his question, though, it's a valid question. Like, when do you take a PC card and just sell it? Like, hey, I like this card. I'm sentimental about the card, but the value increase is so stupid in such a short amount of time. When do I just move on from it and it get like it? So it got me thinking, so I looked at a few different cards. Like number one, I think the principle is this. If it's something you cannot replace, I don't care about the value. If 100 card goes up to 500, it's the same in my mind as if a thousand dollar car goes up to 5,000, can I replace the card? So two examples, one you're familiar with, right? Like the upper deck, Griffey. You remember what the pop is on those things roughly, is it. It's either a much bigger number that I'm thinking or a much smaller number. I thought it was like, isn't it 4,000 or is it 40,000? Nailed it. It's like four to five. I think it's about 5,000. Oh, okay. So. So a card like that, I would say sell it. We've seen crazy dips with that before and super spikes before. It's readily available. Right. Like the Michael Jordan. Even. Even like the psa Nine Jordans. Thousands of them. Yes, We've seen. They're crazy high right now. Nothing wrong with selling it, but I think sometimes people fall into the mistake that I've fallen into before of. Because I've done this in the past. You sell something even if it's cheaper, but you can't find it, here's the thing, the only issue with that is even if you can find it, it becomes now a battle of wills. Because it's like, okay, well I sold it because I could make X amount of dollars on it. I can go out and find the card. But now if I go out and buy that card at these prices, I don't have that kind of bonus. That little bump of margin that I had before and now it makes it harder for me to want to go out and buy it because it's like, well the premise though, you'd be selling it to buy what is cheaper. You're not gonna go buy it right now. Oh, you're saying buy at a cheaper price. But what if it doesn't go cheaper though? That's a other concern, right? So that's into the argument. I get into those cards, cars like that even. And he specifically asked about the Brady, the Brady Bowman Chrome PSA10. I had two people offer me 25k cash at the show for that. That card was 10,000 bucks two years ago, year and a half ago. But there's, there's thousands of them. I think it's under 2000 but always available. Whereas if you have a one of one or something super low numbered and there's 18 of them, I don't really care what the market does. I don't know that I'm ever going to be able to replace it because that's what we've seen like even now. Dude, some stuff that's gone crazy. Not now. Excuse me. A year ago when other things were way down compared to now. Look at like Brady Autos. They weren't that like low numbered, they weren't that much cheaper. Griffey inserts that were hard, hard to find were not that much cheaper. Those don't. Those are almost to the point some of that really rare stuff with the super collectible players like that, it's almost, it's almost like market adverse I guess. I don't even know if that's the right word. Not adverse, market exempt, it doesn't matter. Oh I see. I'm not selling a one on one card. I like it, I can't replace it. A lot of guys I think have that mindset but I think a lot of people think like myself or like mark of like hey, maybe those three cards I can't sell. But these other 18 cards, they have a pretty decent pop. Chances are they're going to come down. That make any sense? I don't know. No, I think so. I mean like I I would assume your thinking is based on the fact that eventually, given that there are so many of them, there's going to be somebody who's going to be like, oh, I'll take lower price than whatever the ones out there and then someone after them will do the same and it'll kind of bring prices down because for the most part these guys aren't having any real big dips or, you know, big booms in their pricing because they haven't done anything. They're already. Well, that's not true. No, that's not true. Look at over the last five years, like during the COVID we had eight months of just straight growth and then we had everything dropped off. But that was the whole market. I'm saying like individually, I'm not saying this will ever happen individually. Brady guys will not race to the bottom ever. But the market, like Michael Jordan, rookies, like there's a reason they were on average about 40% lower 18 months ago. Right. Like they just. Oh, I think I froze. No, you didn't, you're fine. Oh good. I got real. Like Jordan hasn't done anything to be detrimental to his career. But the whole market was in a different place. I am betting on the stuff that you think you can replace. One thing we have can always guarantee throughout the course of the last 10, 12 years of this thing, there's been ebbs and flows. If you're going to sell close to the high, as long as you are patient and wait and it's stuff that has a pop that you can find again, I'm all I am, I'm kind of all for selling it. Take the win now, go back and buy it. It's the Wendy thing all over. But longer term. Yeah, I think if you are already thinking about selling it, then sell it because I think you've already probably made up your mind. For most people, that's fair too. I think if somebody is on the fence of whether or not to sell it, that means they've considered it and I think majority of the time they're probably going to agree to sell it. So yeah, I say go ahead and do it and then deal with it afterward because I, there's. There's a lot of people out there who have the expendable income to buy whatever they want, throw it on the shelf and leave it there. But then there's a much larger part of that hobby that I think cannot afford to do that. They need cash for different things for different times. And so yeah, if you need the cash, sell it. And don't worry about it. It was a piece of cardboard to begin with. And if you can find it again for a better deal, that's just gravy on top. Yeah. I will say, though, to the collector side of me, because I do have the big collector side. The one thing that's worked for me is don't even have it be an option. Like, at the show. I think you've seen it like, you know those little black. I've got those leather cases. Like, I keep, like some of the really nice graded cards I have in that black leather case in the safe. If there's stuff that I'm like, I don't want to sell it, no matter. Don't bring it. Because I can tell you, it almost always happens where if, like you said, if you're even thinking about it, then there's a chance and then you're going to make a move you're going to regret later. So in that case, I would say if it's something you don't think you can sell, don't even. That's why even with a lot of the rare stuff I have, I don't even look at the card ladder values. Like, I've got the collection being tracked. I don't care. Because it's like, yeah, cool, but I'm into it super cheap. I'm never going to be able to find it again. Don't even have the temptation. Yeah. I think. I think the. There's a large majority that would say there is not a card in their collection that they wouldn't sell for some amount of money. Like, now, granted. And I know that's easy to say because if someone said a billion dollars. Yeah, of course. But I mean, like, I think if you would say a billion dollars, you're probably at a million. And if you would say a million, you're probably at a hundred thousand for most cards. So it's like, where do you get to? And I think when people really start to think about it, they're like, yeah, all right, I'll do it. Yeah. And with me, it's. It's more like, what is the actual value? Like I said, I've got some $500 Brady inserts. Granted, they were 50 bucks two years ago, but they're 500 now. But if somebody offered me a TH000, my first thing is like, what is an extra again? In my. What's an extra 500 bucks, too? I'd rather have the card. Sure. Again, if we're talking about a crazy number, like, hey, I'll buy your whole collection for this crazy multiplier. Okay, then maybe it's like, sure, you do it, you walk away. But I did. I thought it was an interesting question that Mark brought up because I think a lot of guys are getting. Which shows you the strength of the market right now. The fact that guys are even considering, like those two trades I made at the show, like, I don't bring that Griffey out ever. I brought it up because, A, I have another one that's almost the same. It's just a different variant of that card. B, and the price went from 450 to 3200 in a. In a year and two months. Yeah. And I got back some awesome cards for it and a ton of cash. It was like, okay, I can justify that. But I do think the fact that people are asking this. And again, even at the show, guys were like, hey, I've got these cars. Are you selling? No, but I'd trade for PC. Or that. I do think it speaks to the strength of the market right now, which I'm not saying it to pump the market. I think also caution, you know, coming going forward, but it's definitely strong. I feel like the market is at a point where we're safe enough from a huge downturn unless the overall economic situation changes. Because I think there's enough people who. Not just like, who are in the hobby, but also promoters of the hobby, businesses of the hobby. There's enough money coming into it that it's like, okay, we're safe, we're in a safe place. But the moment we get to a point where it's like, oh, you know, X amount of people lost their jobs this month, the Dow is down, we need cash for mortgage payments. Then all of a sudden is when we have to be afraid. But I don't know, until then, it feels like there's not really a whole lot that's changing the market. If PSA shutting down, because it's been at least a few weeks, we're closing in probably on a month now of closing down the doors for psa. If that's the case and we didn't see really any change. I mean, I haven't seen any change. I don't know what's going to do it. So I would say you're probably fine to that point, I will say there was definitely more of a demand for slabs. And it wasn't just with the repackers. It was like guys were even considering, like, hey, that $40 card might just be PC for me, but it's already slabbed. I can't go out and buy it. Wrong. Get it slabbed. Even though it's a $9 card, I can't do it. You definitely saw the demand for that at the show of people like, I just wanted slab. I don't want to deal with the hassle, the time, the wait for them to even reopen. What's the pricing going to be? But yeah, the fact that that had almost no repercussion on the single side and I could have even seen like, hey, the first two weeks were good because there was a rush to get them. And then it's. It slowed down. It has not like ebay Live stuff we've both been selling. Going crazy over there. Chris had a big show last. Like, yeah, it is weird. I almost feel like we're at that point. I feel like ebay live is still slow for me. I don't know. It's been a little bit of a drag the last few shows. I just haven't gotten many people in and honestly, I think a big part of it is they have yet to add additional features like the, the non sport. Like how many? Yeah, a category for one of like, it's not. I get. Non sport cards are not the largest out there, but it's like you've got Disney Chrome, Marvel Chrome. You've got all these huge V friends and all these people breaking it. I just, I don't understand why there's not dedicated space on there. And I think that's one of the things that hurts me because it's like they're like Pokemon, Yeah, go in the Pokemon category. I'm like, okay, but the Pokemon category is not the same just because they're, you know, also non realistic items. So yeah, I don't know. What's the hierarchy of nerd between Marvel, like Star wars and Pokemon? Who's picking on who? That is a solid question. Actually. That's a conversation that I need to write down. I'm going to write that down. Hierarchy of nerd. This is a hobby, nonsense conversation to be fair. But I can't have someone who would pick on me in that conversation. Correct hierarchy. But I appreciate you taking it into consideration. Yeah, no, it's good. I recognize good, good skills when I see them. I think the term is real. Recognize real. That's a game recognized game. You were thinking, oh, that guy's got to go up. He was selling it, like. I think it was like $10 or something for a PSA 10, maybe 11 here and there. Did he get traded off season? He signed, right? He signed with. Pathetic. He definitely moved. He's on Toronto anymore. Yeah. Let me. I can look and see where he's at. Let me see. I'm guessing I was dead wrong based on the tone of this. Well, I think after that conversation, we even talked about going out and buying some. I did go out and buy some. I bought four of them. I bought four PSA 10s. What did you pay that. Oh, actually, that's a good question, because I think I know it, but let me just double check it. I think I paid $12. Each. Each, like. Okay. I think that was, like, what it averaged out to be. Let's just round up and call it 50 bucks. Give you a little leeway. All right. Yeah, I mean, that's. That's fair. Do you remember when this was? This. Well, I'll tell you what, if I can find it, I'll tell you exactly, but let's say it was 50 bucks. It was 12 or so. Okay. Now at this very moment, it's about $9. Yeah. He's done. He has done nothing. I don't know. I don't know how long I need to hold it. Do I just keep holding it? What are New York Mets? That's right. He signed with the Mets. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah. I mean, what are you gonna lose, three bucks? Just hold it. I mean. Yeah, still a good baseball player. I also have not followed him at all this year as to why he's. I don't know if he's been struggling or injured or what. I haven't paid any attention. Yeah, I thought him moving teams. I remember he signed with a big market. I don't know. I thought it was the Angels, but, yeah, the Mets. You would think at some point there would have been a bit of a bump from that, but yeah, I would think. Keep holding Bo. And since then he's had like one other sale. 781 yesterday. It looks like it's, you know, down a little bit from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see it continue to go down. I agree. I think, I think the people were buying like I was like, hey, I'm going to speculate he's going to go to a big market. And when that happened again, I just, it's Miami. I'm not. I'm not overly impressed. I'll tell you what had a really big bump was not his prism, but the hoops. His 2013 hoops card, the PSA 10. That one. least it had a sale. There could be some others mixed in here. But the day before, it sold for 243. On the day of the announcement, it sold for 300. Yes. I wonder if that's before the announcement. The announcement came like the afternoon evening. I do wonder if that was against someone like me, because that day they were saying, hey, it's happening today. It's either Boston or Miami. But could have been. I would agree with what you said. I think in two weeks, his pricing is probably down just a touch because I think it sets in like, hey, he went to Miami. There's nothing, you know, actually interests me. He just got traded today. Is Lamelo ball. I've got his pricing as well. Yeah. So obviously I haven't many sales since that thing happened. Happened like an hour ago. But I'll tell you right now, you leave a team that's going nowhere in Charlotte. The Wolves, I think, were a 3, 4, 5 seed, top 5 seed in the West. You got Anthony Edwards. You still have Rudy Gobert. I mean, like, that was already a good team. Lamelo has flashes of being very good, and he's flashy and he's super popular off the court. He's got the big following on socials and stuff. I would almost. And he's probably dirt cheap, like what cards you have pulled up. So I wanted to. Don't give me the price. I'm just curious. He moves to a team that is way better, has a ton of attention. You're playing next to one of the top five most exciting players in the league in Anthony Edwards. Like, that's kind of a cool. And he came up. There's also, like, that kind of connection. They came up in the same draft class. Like, what's his silver going for? 150 bucks. 200 bucks. Actually, that one is going for quite a bit more. Oh, is it a low pop? 450. About. I'm gonna. Okay. 400. 400 exactly. That's wild. You can get him stuff cheap, though. He's a ton of cheap stuff. Ja Morant, who came out and was actually amazing. It was great for the hobby. I mean, you had guys like Kobe White, all these dudes. That class stinks. All right. Do you know what the high. His highest price for a silver PSA 10 prism. Tyler Hero. 400. 400. If you added 1,000 onto it, you'd still be a little under. So I knew it was nuts. So it was 30 back. December 23rd of 2020. Okay. Yeah, I mean, so like the old, old wax to me is like mid-90s is about as old as I buy. I will tell you, there's a few that are super safe. Stadium club finest chrome and best anything with a foil. I mean, a chrome finish back then is generally pretty good. The stuff that was terrifying was the foil stuff, which is. And that's the biggest stuff. Like metal, dude. You can buy a Metal universe box for 2 grand and get literally just one 3 inch thick chunk of just a brick. Cardboard in general. Like the acetate stuff does pretty well. So if you're going that old, I would also say, like, if you're going like even older wax, like five, ten years ago, you got to be careful on redemptions. Like, dude, 2020 football has become like unbelievable all time. But Joe Burrow was a redemption in almost everything. CD Lamb was a redemption. A bunch of stuff. And so was Herbert. Those redemptions are gone and Petini doesn't have the license. You got to be very, very careful with like, who. And it's very tough to find who was a redemption. But like, that's a huge rule. Like how long? Because I know that two or three. Okay. No, it's like two or three. It's just like tops used to be. They just never updated it over there, so. Gotcha. Okay. They have like, I think this is their second or third time they've had UFC guys in like not only like in their shop but like locally where they'll do shows with them. They've got. I know at least some have had over a million followers on Instagram. So it's big names. Yeah, but it's like when, when discussing. Excuse me, when discussing that, like to say, hey, do we want to do a sponsorship, like do some kind of promotion with like either ebay or, or fanatics at times. I think they've been a little leery just because some of these guys have some checkered past. Even like Conor McGregor was one of those where it was like, hey, we, we have the chance of getting Conor McGregor here, but apparently, again, his questionable past, some of the things he's done, some of the bigger companies have not wanted to do something with him, and therefore, it's just like, okay, well, I think. I wonder if that does hold back some of that push into that direction just because it is, like, it's a much more adult sport. Right. Like, not every parent's. Yeah. Gonna let their little kid go out and watch somebody beat somebody's face to hamburger. So the other thing, too, is just, like, the relatability of the sport. And, like, the following, I think, is a. It's a savage following for the sport itself, but it's almost the anti. It's almost against the grain of every other sport. Like, I'm gonna go out of my way to watch the Patriots game because I. Not because I love football, I love the Patriots, but, But people with that go out of their way to watch, like, the card or the event. Yeah. And it only happens, like, how many times? Like, twice a year as a guy fight. Like, it's not like, like, it's not something like, you just follow. I don't know. Yeah, well, I mean. Yeah, I'm not. I couldn't tell you. Like, I don't. The fact they had one on the UFC lawn makes me think, like, oh, well, White House. You mean? White House lawn. What did I say? The ufc. Well, it was there. It was their lawn at the time when they set up. No, at the White House lawn. Yeah. Makes me think, like, oh, well, maybe there's some additional push. But I. Yeah, I don't. I just can't imagine it ever being quite as big. I think boxing will always be bigger than ufc, just in the sense that. For collectors. Yeah, for collectors. Oh, the viewership is not close anymore, I don't think. Oh, what is it? Oh, you think boxing is. I think UFC has way bigger viewership now. Really? Can you name a single active boxer? Is Pacquiao still a boxer? It's a guy. He actually, he just fought Muhammad Ali. Yep. You got it. Yeah. It is funny, though. I just would have. I would always have just assumed boxing would be more popular. No, I think we're 20 years behind on that, at least in this country. Really? Yeah, I don't think it's even close anymore. Interesting. I was listening to Dr. Beckett's podcast from a few weeks ago and he mentioned that one of the reasons Beckett Grading introduced the BCCG label, he says, in my opinion, a bad decision was because Ken golden wanted a very cheap way to grade cards. So question. Do you think Ken golden still has that much pull in the hobby? If he does, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I mean, he. I don't know if that's true, by the way. I've never heard that, but I don't doubt Kelly. Yeah, I mean, if Ken went to a company and forget Paul, Ken has money. Like, Ken could easily go to a company and say, hey, here's 20 million. I want you to do a startup service. It's $10 a slab. And make it a very cheap, quick one. Like that. Sure, yeah. And I mean, would the hobby care? I don't think so. Not. Not by and large, but he could do it. Ken has money and pull. Absolutely. When the DCCG label came out, do you remember, like when that was. Oh, yeah. And it was still the price. The authority on grading. Like, yeah, you could do whatever. Like they could absolutely. If you tried to do it now, well, you're even your main brand isn't doing great. Why do we need a knockoff? Be a lot more resistance now, I think. Looks like it was 1999 when the BCCG label came out. Okay, okay. Even earlier. That makes sense. Oh yeah, because I said the Walmart stuff. I was doing that with Russ before I was driving. I got my license in O2, so yeah, 99. Yep. Okay. Oh, does this sound accurate? This is like just the Google review. It says, however, BCCG used a looser numerical grading scale compared to the standard BGS and was eventually discontinued around 2020. So it was only around a year. You said 2000. 1999 to 2020. That's 20. Oh, 2020. Duh. Golly. All right, that makes me feel a lot better. All right. It was though like. Like a 7 would be like good. Plus it was a different grading scale. I forget exactly. But like an eight over there might be like a five or six and a real holder. Oh, gross. Just a super quick cheap option. It sounds like it was just like to put it in a slab holder, you know, like just. That's just to protect. It was smarter than they. You got to give them that. They saw the popularity of slabs and make something super easy and accessible. There was actually another question about that I thought was good. Let me see here. Carlos Salazar with grading shutdowns, can we advocate more for the people that do reviews on cards for a fee? It saves you so much money. It's perfect time for people to use the service and make their piles of shots at tins. Okay. So yeah, he's just saying, like, take your cards that you think could be graded at a 10, let them be reviewed and just set them aside until they can be sent in. I mean, sure. I would also just say do it yourself. Like, if you're grading that much, you should be able to take a look. Never once in a while. I'll go to Shep. Hey, here's a card I'm not familiar with. What do you think of. Maybe there's an issue, I don't know, you know, vintage I'll go to Shep with. But in general, if you're going to grade, you should have an eye and have to have at least an idea of what you're looking at and looking for. I Think my biggest concern with it and why I could see that being a good business strategy right now is just because there have been so many cards where I'm like, I can't see, like in grant could be a surface condition that maybe if it came out, I could see that. But it's like, I can't see, see why this wasn't a 10, and yet it got, you know, a nine or whatever the case may be. So that's. Those are the only times where I'm like, yeah, I don't know, maybe. Maybe I'm just off or maybe I just haven't done it enough grading personally myself to be able to trust myself. Yeah, I mean, is there a need for it? Sure. But again, I. I'm kind of up the camp. Learn how to do it yourself. Like, then just, you know, stop just sending in cards. I will say there are a number of tutorials out there, guys, and there's like several apps even now that will show you, like, their best guesstimate as to whether or not your card would grade A10. So just if anybody's wondering, like, oh, should I send this in for grading? Check those out or check out the YouTube. There's a lot of tutorials. Let's see. I think we're almost done. Let me just check a couple others. Carlos Rodriguez, you both seem to be doing a lot of ebay live lately. If breaking made up 100% of your business last year, what do you expect the split to look like in 2026? What percentage do you think will come from breaking versus eBay live for each of you? I think so. Oh, good. No, I was gonna say I was. Yours will be a lot different than mine, I think, because you've been doing a lot more on ebay live and less breaking overall. Right? Yeah. If you're talking for me personally, it's one thing, but, like, I scn breaks like the brakes had me and Eddie, I bet singles make up and specifically ebay live singles, maybe, maybe 20%. Still 80. The breaking numbers are massive. Like, we just did an absolutely huge show on Sunday night. It was 35, 000. We've done 200, 000 single days breaking, and he breaks every day, you know, so just may not even be 20%. Yeah, I would say for me, actually. No. Yeah. I'm so sorry. 10. I'm going to go 90. 10. 90 10. Yeah. I would say it's even less. It's probably. Probably closer to like 8, 8%. It's less than 10. Probably more than 5. Is my. My guess. Could we call it 7? So I don't sometimes get the best that he gets. That is true. The fact stinks. If it was a real auto, it'd be a different story because obviously a Tom Hanks would outsell a Tim Allen.
