There's a certain basketball player in the number one spot on today's list, and I bet you might be able to guess who it is. But we have baseball and hockey on today's list as well. We'll tell you which cards are going up the most now. Hello, sports card investors, and welcome to another top five cards from the Arena Club studio here inside Cards hq and ooh, it is a fun time to be a sports fan right now. We've got great NBA playoffs. We got the NHL playoffs, which are awesome as well. Major League Baseball is in full swing. There's a lot happening and there's a lot happening in the world of sports cards that you are going to want to hear about today. And of course, today's top five is sponsored by Whatnot. Whatnot has awesome live auctions every day and night, starting at just $1 for packs, boxes, breaks, singles and more. It's a lot of fun. And if you scan the QR code on your screen or use this special link in our show description below, you'll get $15 in free credit when you sign up for Whatnot. All right, let's start today's show by looking at the overall sports card market with the market pulse by market movers and wow, ladies and gentlemen, it continues to be frothy. Over the last seven days, the SEI 500 index of 500 of the most prominent sports cards is up another 2.3%. It is up over 6% over the last 30 days and it is up over 23% since January 1. This may go down as the greatest year in sports card market history if these prices continue. But now let's talk about the cards that are going up and down the most. It is time for today's top five cards. We're starting today with a cold card of the week, as we do every week, because it is a reminder that sometimes the hot cards featured on this program can quickly turn cold. So invest carefully and our cold card this week is no other than Connor Bedard, the young center for the Chicago Blackhawks. Look, Connor Bedard continued to show flashes of superstar potential this season. He led the Blackhawks offensively, but it was another difficult year for the franchise. Chicago finished last in the Central Division once again as inconsistent scoring, depth and defensive struggles prevented the team with from taking a meaningful step forward. So while Bedard produced strong individual numbers and look like he's growing into being a leader for his team, he still has yet to experience the NHL playoffs and his team looks like they're a little ways Away from that happening. So as a result, now that his season is long over, his cards are starting to slump a little bit. Let's take a look here in Market Movers. I'll show you what I'm talking about. This is Bedard's 2023 SP authentic future watch auto number to 999. Now this one's only down a little bit, down 3%. But hey, it's an expensive card. So 3% is still about $60 that this card is down right here over the course of the last couple of weeks. This is his Young guns base rookie card from 2023 upper deck. This one's down about 6%. So again, not a huge decline. But you can see the trend line is certainly moving in the wrong direction. The raw version of that card is down 14%. So all of these cards over the last 30 days are starting to trend in the wrong direction. This one took the biggest hit. This is Connor Bedard's 2023 Upper Deck Star Rookies card in PSA 10 condition. This one, well it had sold for as high as around 94. Maybe that was just kind of one high sale. It has been down ever since. Overall, Bedard's cards actually are down on average about 11% over the last 30 days. So it's not just these. His overall market is slumping a little bit right now. Hopefully that turns around for him when next season gets underway. But now let's talk about cards going up. And we're starting with our investment card of the week. And this week it is Jackie Robinson. And specifically Jackie Robinson's 1955 Topps card. Now Robinson has some real iconic cards like his 1948 leaf card. We featured that on this program before. But today we wanted to feature his 1955 Tops card because there was an unbelievable record high sale of that card in a high grade just the other day. And all of the cards from this year for Jackie Robinson are going up. We're going to show it to you. Of course you guys know Jackie Robinson, one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Broke the major League baseball's color barrier with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Played there through 1956 and during that period he was a six time All Star. Won the 1949 National League MVP award. Winning also helped the Dodgers to a World Series championship. Led them there in 1955. And so his 1955 card is particularly important to collectors. And let's take a look here in Market Movers. This is that Jackie Robinson 1955 Topps card and I mentioned a record high sale of this card. Look at this. This Card sold for $524,600 $600 just a few days ago at Heritage Auctions. In fact, over last weekend in Heritage Auctions it did such an incredible number. That card is up tremendously. You can see that top light blue line on the graph and how wildly that card has accelerated in the market over the course of the last year. But this card is up in all different grades. This shows you though the outsized return that a card can get in a particularly high grade. Let's look at that. Let's look at that PSA9 and you can see the recent sales for this card. So you had 524,000. You had 231,000 just the month prior. Now the most recent one that sold was an NBA gold, so that helped the sale price. Certainly it has excellent eye appeal. But if you go back to the same time last year, we had a sale of $59,000 for that card. $59,000 on memory lane. Doesn't that look like a deal today compared to what it has sold for the two time sub Subsa coin? Absolutely unbelievable. But it's been moving up in all grades. In PSA 8, this looks like a deal. Now the last sale was was $7,930, but that was up over $1,000 over the course of the year. The PSA 7 is up over about close to $800 over the course of the last year. The PSA 6 is up close to $800 over the course of the last year. And the PSA 5 over $500. If you want to pick up a more affordable version of this card, a PSA5 will now set you back about $1625. Very nice to see the attention being paid to Jackie Robinson's cards. But now let's talk about players playing today. And in the number five spot on today's list, it is Zach Benson, the left wing for the Buffalo Sabres. Now Zach Benson had a great playoff run for the Sabres. He emerged as one of the team's key young pieces this year. Brought energy, physicality and timely scoring for the Sabres. In fact, during Buffalo's first round series win over Boston, he scored in both Game 4 and the series, clinching Game 6, helping the Sabres secure their first playoff series victory in 19 years. Now unfortunately, they just got eliminated in game seven. So they're no longer in the playoffs. But Benson is going to have a lot of excitement going into next season. He's just 20 years old and Buffalo is a team on the rise. His cards are on the rise as well. Let's look here in Market Movers. This is Zach Benson's 2023 SP authentic future watch Auto card in raw condition. This one's nudged up a little bit over the last 30 days in the market. Sold as high as $75. You could have scooped that for as little as $35 if you go back a few weeks ago. Here's his Upper deck Young guns base in PSA 10 most recent sale $121 30 days ago that was selling for around $58. Here's the same card in PSA 9 selling right now for about 22 to $25. You could have bought that anywhere between about $9 and $20 if you go back a month ago. Finally, this is his 2023 Upper Duck Young Guns Outburst Silver in raw condition that most recently sold for 4. $43. But it was selling for $25 just a month ago. We've got one more hockey player on today's list and in the number four spot. That would be Alex Newhook, the center for the Montreal Canadiens. Alex Newhook stepped up in a big way from Montreal during the playoffs, providing timely offense and strong two way play in key moments. And the reason why Buffalo is no longer in the playoffs is because of Montreal and in part because of Alex Newhook, who scored the Game 7 overtime winner against Buffalo, in fact his second Game 7 winner of the postseason, helping send Montreal to the Eastern Conference finals. So you can imagine that type of moment especially happening twice means good things for your card prices. Let's take a look here in Market Movers. This is his 2021 SP authentic future watch auto number to 999 in PSA 10 condition. This just sold for $142. But a couple of weeks ago you could have scooped it for $65. That one has more than doubled in the last 30 days. Raw condition up even more. Guys, $36 was the most recent sale, but would you believe it? There was a sale of that card for $5. If you go back to April, not a bad increase on that. Here's his 21, 2021 upper deck young guns base card in PSA 10. This just sold. Check this out. This just sold for $100. But you could have bought that card a few weeks ago for $13. $13. Now it's $100. Not bad. And then here it is in PSA 9. This one right now is around $20, it sold as high as $30. But there was the sale of that card for $5. If you go back just a couple of weeks ago, really nice month for Alex Newhook. Let's go to baseball for the number three card today. And it is Colt baseman for the Seattle Mariners. Colt Emerson has quickly become one of the hottest young names in baseball. After earning his call up to Seattle as the Mariners top prospect before his promotion, the 20 year old was hitting.255 with seven home runs in Triple A ball, showing strong all around production at a young age. And he wasted no time making an impact in the majors, blasting his first Major League baseball home run, a three run shot for his first big league hit. So this has brought a lot of excitement to his cards. Here they are in Market Movers. Guess what? They're going up. This is called Emerson's 2023 Bowman Draft. His first Bowman card. Just the base card in PSA 10 is now $90 and just a few weeks ago that was as little as $40. Nice movement there. Here's the Sapphire edition of the same card most recently sold for $143 back in April. That was $90. Let's take a look at the auto version of the Sapphire in PSA 10 that just sold for $1055. You could have scooped it for $880 just a couple weeks ago. How about as 2024 Bowman's best best of 2024 autograph in raw condition just sold for around $60. That was $39 if you go back 30 days ago. And then finally here is the blue refractor of that same card just sold for $110. That was $85 a few weeks ago. Been a really good month for Colt Emerson. Let's keep it going with young baseball stars breaking out in the number two spot today, it's Ben Rice, the first baseman for the New York Yankees. Ben Rice has been on this list a couple of times already and he continues his breakout season for the Yankees, emerging as one of the most productive hitters in baseball and a major force to the middle of the lineup. In fact, Ben Rice recently launched a go ahead two run home homer against Toronto, giving him 16 home runs on this season. He's homered four times over his last eight games. Owns the best OPS in all of Major League Baseball, pairing elite power with incredible overall offensive production. And his cards, yeah, they're doing big things as well. Let's take a look here in Market Movers. This is Ben Rice's 2025 tops. This is his 1990 Topps baseball autograph throwback card in raw condition. That just sold for $190. You could have scooped that for $150 back in April. Here's his Radiating Rookies in PSA 10 from 2025 Topps Chrome just sold for $400. That was a $340 thereabouts card back in April. Let's look at his 2025 Topps Chrome Refractor Rookie Refractor in PSA 10, $325. Would you believe that that sold for only $125 back in April? What an increase there. Here's this 2025 Tops Chrome Rookie Autograph in raw condition. This is now $212 in April. That sold for as little as $100. That is up a lot. And then finally, the refractor version of that rookie auto just sold for $380. But a month ago it was $220. Man, what a month for Ben Rice's cards. All right, here we go, guys. We have reached that moment. It is time for the number one card of the week. But before I give it to you, let me remind you that all of the charts and graphs from today's show are from Market Movers. All right, you ready? Guess who's number one? You probably guessed Victor Wembanyama in the number one spot today. Wemby has taken the sports card market by storm over the last week. He continues to dominate in the playoffs, cementing himself as probably the most unstoppable young star in basketball. And of course, it was game one of the Western Conference finals against Oklahoma City where he erupted for 41 points and 24 rebounds in a double overtime win, including that ridiculous logo three three to keep the game going. He has become the youngest player in NBA history with a 40.20 rebound playoff game. Unbelievable. He's consistently delivered massive performances on both ends. He has. He's had multiple 30 plus point games throughout the playoffs. Now, of course, the spurs did drop game two against Oklahoma City it's going to be a great series. I think Wemby's going to continue to do good things. But look Oklahoma City Sheg yield just Alexander. That is a stack team as well. This is going to be a series to really watch. But I hope you have some Wemby in your collection. I have some Wemby in my collection. Full disclosure, I got a lot of Wemby. I love the guy. I am thrilled to see what these cards are doing right here in Market Movers. How about his 2023 Prism base? Look at this card on the graph. Just shoot up to the heavens. This is now a $400 card. Look at that. But you could have scooped that card up. Gosh, even like 10 days ago, that was a $237 card. Now it is a $400 card. Unbelievable. Here's the Prism Silver. Sit down for this one. This one just shot up to over $3,300 in PSA 10 back in April. That was less than $2,500. How about his 2023 Topps Chrome base in PSA 10? This is now a $529 card. You could have scooped that for as little as $325 earlier this month. Now let's look at his Mercury. Love the Mercury. How about the Victor web and Yama 2023 tops Mercury autograph relic to 99 just sold for $3,000. But that card was down around $1,600 a month ago. And then finally from 2025 tops Chrome, his refractor in raw condition. If you're looking for a little more affordable of a Wemby card, this one's around $45 today. But goodness, she could have scooped that for less than $20 back in April. What a month for Wemby. These playoffs are going to be fun to watch. All right, guys, I hope you enjoyed today's show.
