Welcome to another episode of Sports Cards Live with your host Jeremy Lee. Let's go to comments because there are lots of them. Okay, a couple from the last topic and Dave Snyder if you're still there. I have your comments. Start your your especially your super chats but from the last discussion I'll just touch on a couple there. Double D Dylan, what's up? My brother says the pause does nothing to the hobby or pricing on cards in my opinion. I'm with you. MG says lost in this discussion the the PSA is how it affects the TCG market. Great question. They're probably hurt more than sports cards is Mike Glenn says people have hated on PSA forever but secretly still send them their stuff. All right. Okay. Now on to this topic at hand. Yankees fans's best email ever. Hobby champs says hey man, you got to do what you got to do. Dylan says hey you don't get rich by saving money or not taking chances. Skeppy says this is not a real email. I mean it is, maybe it isn't. I mean it could be I'll be a hoax, but it was a real email. In my inbox. Show men, show. Madman says, dude better start setting up camp on the couch. Situational says yowzers those betting app ads are getting even teachers to gamble. Oh, it's not much of a gamble. But not yell. Yeah says it's not a million dollar card. Hobby Champ says, is any card a million dollar card? James Wynn says ten thousand dollar credit limit. Let's go Rock. Latex says, maybe Josh knows a good divorce lawyer for this guy. Situational says this has to be a troll email. Mon Saint says his wife will divorce him. Ripping in the park says, what a saga. Skeppy says, the teacher that doesn't buy cards over $1,000. Sure seems to know a lot about cards valued higher than $1,000. I don't know who he's referring to there. The. The email. The guy. The guy who wrote the email. Oh, fair. Okay. Okay. Area 51. Thank you. By the way, Area 51 for the super chat says the biggest threat to the hobby is not the shutting down of PSA, but the shutdown of the Straight of Horu. The real economy doesn't run on slabs. Yeah, good point. That. That is a bigger deal, I would say. James Wynn says, don't worry, he will get $200 in credit card reward points. That's a great comment. Ken Fickle says, great story. Wish him the best. Dylan says, you're a legend. Jeremy. I've never answered an email in my life. Diamond Relic says, is it possible to divorce yourself? I'm not married, but I can relate. Situational says this guy can't even afford an NBA sticker. Show me. Madman says it's not just a decision he has to live with, but now she has to live with as well. His wife, not Yellia says, I love the conviction. The con. Sorry. I love the conviction in the card. Sometimes you need to believe in a card more than your wallet can. I've done that before. Yankees fan says, I think Stan the teacher is a baller. He's like throwing him kudos. Goldauer says divorces happen over sports card spending. Absolutely they do. Yankees fan says he is already selling off cards he owns and doesn't love as much. Yeah, hopefully he can keep doing that. Upstate says things come and go and change. Yep. He also says, what's up everyone? Best showing all of sports cars. Thank you, Upstate. Show me Mad Men says you said it, Joe. It's a hobby. Gold hour here says he might have gotten a better deal on the Jackie if it wasn't in a PSA slab. I mean, it's only graded a PSA 6. I think. I think Goldauer is probably right. I think any PSA slab probably helps this card. I think it does, but anyone have any thoughts on that? Joe, David, Josh, any thoughts on. Does it being in a PSA slab help? It's a C. It's a six. Does that help the card? Like, sixes often don't help cards unless they're from the 40s. What do you think, guys? Josh, I have a question. I never understood why people grade one of one cards. Like, who cares? There's only one out there. Okay, so let me give you a scenario. Let's say you've got a card collection. You collect Jackie Robinson patch cards, and they're all on some run of 99. Some aren't numbered, some are out of 10. They're all graded. You have one that's not graded, you can keep. Let's say you got your 48 leaf set, Josh. Okay, there's no one on ones. That. So not a good example. But let's say you collect a player and all of his cards are graded, but you get some one of ones. You're gonna not grade them because they're one of ones. Like, like, don't you want unif. Okay. You would. Most people want the uniformity. I think most people would want them all graded. We have one that sticks out like a sore thumb. Like, I would grade my 101 cards. Okay. Like it. To me, the argument, it's like, why would you grade A1 1 card? There's lots of reasons why. Just like there's reasons not to. Some cards, someone one cards probably don't need to be graded, but I, I totally get it. But that, but anyway, that's not the question is, does the fact that it's in a slab help the price in. In our opinion. Joe is saying yes. He's nodding yes, of course. Yeah. I mean, I, I would say that it doesn't even matter what the grade is. The fact that it's just in a PSA slab is going to help it out. Upstate says sick card Hobby champ says, I disagree. So hard. Simply knowing the sheer amount of cards that outsell this by a huge margin just makes the take that it's not worth what he paid seem ridiculous. Ken Fickle says compared to this new junk wax era, it's a great Deal Upstate says best thing to do is search the set and settle for different players. Foul Ball says he needs to divorce the hobby card. Fuchsia says he will be fine. Better than overreaching for a vehicle. I mean. Yeah. Okay, let's see a few now. Now there's a few more newer comments that have come in. Jim Defined says a better offer would be to buy it for what you paid plus a small finder's fee. Skeppy says, I would highly advise not paying him directly for that card. If you're going to buy it, he needs to go through a third party. Oh, I'm not buying the card. I'm not. I'm not taking any risk on buying the card. Skeppy. Thank you for the advice, Jim. Define says, how is it worth 10k without an NBA sticker? Dylan says being a PSA 66 helped him. In my opinion. Who did it help, Dylan? The seller or the buyer? Or does it help both, knowing now that it's in that it is the PSE guarantee that helps? Maybe. Mark James says I want a one on one grader for authenticity. Hobby champ says the same logic can be used in support of grading it because what does the grade actually matter? Right? I think it's the slab that helps it more than the number on the grade. I think it's just this. I think it's the PSA brand that helps the card more than anything else and that's just where the hobby is at right now. Sabbath says, by the way, welcome. Sabbath says graded for protection, authenticity, resale, aesthetic matching to the rest of collection. Oh, why to I have no issues grading one on ones personally, so I'm with you, Sabbath. Show me. Mad Men says, is Josh the only one viewing this from outside the hobbyist's perspective? No, Josh just has his way of thinking. We, we know that by now. Guys, foul ball says all my collection is ungraded, so I should stick with that. A slab would not fit in. Very fair. Foul ball. Okay. Rock latex. Good answer, Jaylee. Yes. Uniformity of the slab for collection. That's my reasoning for me in my collection. Jesse says it's the only reason I had my best card PSA slab value. Even though it came back as a six as well. Okay. And skeptic says grading 101 is still an assessment of the condition of the card. Sure. Okay. David. Yes, I. When you were reading those, I just want to make sure I heard you correctly. Did you say that this was not a gamble? By the cert. By the. By this Gentleman. Oh, I don't remember the comment, man. Can you. No, but I think that you. I think that you were saying that. That you didn't view him as gambling when you bought this card. Do you agree with that? I. Yes. I do not think this card is a gamble. Yeah. Why is that? Why do you think that? Because I do believe he gambled by buying this card. Why do you think it's not a gamble? Oh, I think it's. I think it's a secure deployment of $10,000. Personally, I think it's worth it. That's why I think that. Yeah, sorry, go ahead. No, that's it. I think it's worth it. So. But, I mean, I know, and, and now that we know that you'll pay for it, I agree it's not a gamble anymore because he has you as a backup, but before he had you as a backup. I think it's a huge gamble for him. He didn't know that he could sell this card for something over what he's paying for it, and he's putting himself in debt to be able to buy it. How is that not gambling in your mind? Well, the, the being in debt to me is, Is. Is a completely separate issue from gambling. I can go. I can have a million bucks in the bank and take $10 and buy a lottery ticket, and that's gambling. Like gambling is. Is being. Is a completely different discussion versus spending $10,000 on this card. So I'll just focus on the price he paid. And I just think 10 grand is good value for this card. I think that this card, compared to what other cards in this hobby sell for. I think for this, for this specific card, $10,000 is not a gamble. That's why, David, I, I can't really say any more than that. No, that makes sense. But can you. If you want to probe me more, I'm. I'm happy to continue the discussion. Well, I. It's only because he's saying that he's. He doesn't have the money for it and he's only going to sell it if he can make 100,000. And I don't know if his thought process is trying to sell it quickly for a hundred thousand or holding on to the card for a long period of time. Yeah, that was just him making the point that he loves this card. It's the, it's his. He thinks. He thinks this is the best memorabilia card ever produced of the millions and millions of them out there. He thinks this is the best patch card ever made of Any patch card ever made. I mean, that's a big claim to make. Like, let's say you and I talk a lot, David. We put jack, we put Jackie's 48 leaf. I mean, you put it a top three all time card. I think it's a top five most iconic, important card. I. What? It's not. I just, I'm making fun of you. Yeah, right. You think it's a top three. Yeah. This is a jack. This is maybe. I mean, I haven't seen them all. So there is gamble in that, I guess that this isn't the best Jackie memorabilia card, but it's a 101, it's the Met. The pieces are incredible. Like, so I don't think it's a gamble. I think 10 grand's good value for this card. Just like 10 grand's a good value on a great 48 leaf jockey. That's kind of, that's kind of the thing that I, that's why I don't think it's a gamble. Now here's another question though. The whole, like, let's put in perspective for a moment. So I'm going to totally contradict myself. It's all a gamble. We are buying cardboard with picture, with pieces of paper with pictures of people on them. Like, that's all this is. So the whole hobby is really, there's risk. I don't know if it. Gamble is the word, but risk. This whole. There's risk in all these cards. If you're holding any card of significant value. There's risk that if the world goes completely upside down, that our cards are all worth nothing and all we need is food and shelter to survive. Cards give us enough, none of that. So I mean in that context it's a gamble. But if, if in the, if the world continues as it is, even as bad as it is in some cases, I think that it's, it's not a gamble personally. Is it more of a gamble to buy a card that's a one of one? A card like this? I understand it's not a gamble if you bought a 48 leaf, Jackie, that's worth 30,000 that you could sell tomorrow. That's worth that, that you buy for $7,000. That's not a gamble. Right, because you know that you're going to make a profit on it. But are you sure you can make a profit on a card like this? Well, I think, I think the, I think the, I think the better question is, are you sure you're not going to lose money on a Card like this. Yes. Because you don't need to make a profit on it. Right. For it not to be gamble. Correct. I personally think that. No, I don't. I, no, that that's not insulated. You're not insulated from losing money on this card. But I do think that the, the loss is not going to be $10,000. I mean you could, I think I like, listen, it's now that now there's a comp. Now there's a comp out there for ten grand. Someone not gonna pay five or six or seven for it maybe loses a couple grand. That's not the end of the world for even, even him a Joe, go ahead, please. For me to really sort of talk about this card with any like certainty, I would want to know what the other parallels are. Like is there a to 10 or a to 3 or to a 15 to a 20? And the interesting thing also is that in the realms of memory, you're, you're not always. I, I. And this is not to disparage this particular card whatsoever because I do think the MIM is outstanding. I mean a button and you know, a two colored patch with some seam with some dirt on it. It seems pretty spectacular. I've seen a few jackies with multi colored. Sometimes you get like the red, blue and a kind of gray. So you know, there are potentially some other jackies out there that could rival the quality of the mem. But the mim is not always commensurate with the 1 of 1 or the of 10 status. Like that is someone in the production facility like deciding, okay, let's put this in here, let's put this in there. It usually is. But I mean we've, I've seen a lot of examples where you know, something out of a hundred has a spectacular swatch if it wasn't swapped out nefariously and, and or 10. Whereas like something more lower level is, is not. So like that's the part of this asset that I think becomes a little squirrely in my mind. It's not like a one of one black finite. Right. It's not like something where we know this is the one of one of this example of the card. It might actually make it better, but it also has, there's more wiggle room I guess is what I'm saying in terms of the swing that people could have if they were to entertain all the other examples of this particular production. Right. This card and it's, and its family of parallels. Yeah, family parallels. That's nicely put. Yeah. And you know your comment about the finite being the one of one. Like that kind of one on one masterpiece or. I know it's got. I think they have parallels, but I mean, how many one of ones are there two copies of out there? Like, how do we know that tops only printed one copy of all these one or panini one copy of all these one of ones. Like, we don't know that for sure. And there's been several examples that have been pointed out where there's two copies of one on one. That's. Listen, there comes a point, including with the comment here from Dune says, how would you know if the material is from an actual Jackie jersey? It's a great question. And that's where you just take that. You have to take that leap of faith that it is because you don't know unless you saw Jackie take it off and your eyes followed it all the way from Jackie taking it off through to the card company 70 years later. Like, that's the only way to know for sure. Even, even coas are doctored and all that sort of thing. So, yeah, Josh, and some of those Donrus cars that you bought at the, at the Toronto show, they have a picture of the jersey on the back, right? And some on some sets doesn't mean. Yeah, sure, but that even I love that. But even that's not foolproof. I mean, so it's a picture of a jersey. I can't, I can't look at the memorabilia and trace it to the picture of the jersey. Like, I love that. But that doesn't prove anything to me. You know, I love it though. Don't get me wrong. Okay, some more comments that have come in here. Dylan did confirm the. The buyer is who we think it was benefiting. Travis Mater says. Jeremy, if you owned the card before grading it, would you have it graded or authenticated? I would not, Travis. I would not grade it. I. My, my, my cards that are. That I have a collection that this card would fit into in my PC and those cards are not great and I have no plans to grade them. Not yell yes. Someday Stan will be proud to have set the comp for this card just under 10k. He might already be fair. Skeppy says the gamble is the hobby pivot. You mentioned early. The hobby could move away from this type of card just as fast as embracing it. I don't know, Skeppy. I, I don't. I, I don't think that that is. I'm not saying it's impossible because it's sure there's Certainly it's plausible. I don't see that happening myself. I'm just speaking for my own my own belief and on my decades of of experience in the hobby and seeing trends and how they happen. I don't see that happening at all myself. I think it's more likely to go the other direction. And if it does, I don't see it being too detrimental to the values. These things are just too darn cool in my opinion. But again, I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I just don't think it'll happen. If we knew more about our sleep, what would we do differently? Okay, couple more comments here. 35 Auburn says there's multiple one of ones, even another with very similar patches. So there's new information right there. Other one of ones with similar patches. So maybe it's not truly a one of one. I do not know that. Show me Madman says. Just to be clear, I was applauding Josh's view seemed to be the only one analyzing it from a common sense view and the potential real life implications given the real life circumstances stand laid out. Yeah, I mean, that's fair. Show me, madman. But on the other hand, we, we know nothing about his really, the dynamics in his family, you know, like, we just don't know. And is he willing to risk divorce over a card? Well then, I mean, that's up to him. And, and again, just like with the whole PSA stuff, I don't really feel bad for the guy. Like if he's willing to risk divorce, knowingly risk divorce over this, either he's willing to get divorced or he's stupid. And, and to you, Stan, I, I don't think you are. I really don't know. Maybe you are. But, but again, that's all that's on you. That, that's on him. Like, I'm not responsible. We are not responsible for every collector in this hobby. Guys, just understand. We are not responsible for every collector in this hobby and the decisions that they make. It's not our job to protect everybody in, in this hobby. I'm all for protecting the kids, but that's about it. Yeah, Joe, I'm gonna extrapolate a little bit from our narrator, Stan, or you know, whatever his true name is, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I'm not that worried about Stan's marriage or his financial situation, because the details of his account suggest to me that he's actually a very prudent person. And I think all of us have at times stepped outside of our level of normal behaviors and had a moment where we have to process that we have to kind of communicate or express that we've done something that's different than our norm. But everything that he said suggests to me that he's a hard working soul with a good head on his shoulders and he's going to find a way to communicate this to his wife as well as rebound from, you know, what amounts to a significant deployment of funds, but not a life irrevocably different amount of funds. So I want to make the point that while I don't want to endorse people doing things above and beyond their means, the details that I could glean from his short account, that may or may not be accurate, but I'm taking it at face value, it suggests to me that he's actually pretty thoughtful, pretty reflective, and probably likely to be able to make it out of this situation relatively scot free. I, I agree with I agree, Joe. Thank you for the insight, David. Would any of you feel different if this was a hundred thousand instead of ten? And why if, if you would. Because I know what teachers make. But I mean it isn't so we're. So the reason why it's not as big of a deal to you is because you feel like you can get out of this hole and a hundred thousand would be harder to get out of, is that right? Well, I mean if he wrote the same damn thing then, then, you know, I, I, but I, I'd imagine if he thought it was gonna be worth a million. Right, right. Yeah, I don't know. I'd have to think about that. That's an interesting. Is that a gamble, Jeremy? A hundred thousand on this card and he thinks it's a million dollar card? I mean, I don't think, I mean I really like the card guys. Do I think it's worth a hundred thousand dollars in the market right now today? No. Do I think it could eventually be worth a hundred thousand dollars the way the market is trending if, if the trends continue? Yeah, I, I wouldn't, I wouldn't be that shocked compared to what I see other cards sell for. I think, I think in the premier auction we had like what do we have like thirty something hundred thousand dollar cards last month. I mean this card I would want more than most of those. I'm not saying I'm not spending the. Guys, I've, I've spent more than 20 grand on a card. Let me rephrase. I've spent more than 20,300 on a card once and then I spent 2300 and then I don't think I've ever spent, Maybe I spent 13 grand while I, I've spent over 10 grand on a card three times in my life. So I'm not a. No, I'm not buying this card for 100 grand. But 9, 900 seems like a, like a good deal to me. I'm fine with that deal now let. I just was shared. Lantern in the, in the chat sent me a close comparison. He said he's interested, interested to see if the panel thinks that Stan's copy is worth two times this one. So thank you. I'm gonna share this card here. This is a one of one Jackie Robinson. It's in a. Okay. It's a PSA Authentic which I think is worth less than a PSA six. It does not have the, it does not have the little hole pad. I think the patches on Ste. Stan's copy are better than the patches on this copy. Personally, this card sold. 14 months ago for $4,629 on Golden. Now I A couple comments to to Lantern's question. Does the panel think that this one is worth twice as much? Okay, arguments for yes. The market has moved a lot in the last 12 months even on stuff like this. I know I've been buying it. This car is sold on Golden. Not everybody watches or bids on Golden. I for example, do not nothing against Golden Auctions. I've never bought and I don't really watch those auctions. I watch the big items. I didn't even know it was for sale. So it's not a it's not an apples to or it's not an apples to apples comparison. That said, not everybody watches fanatics collect so I so there's that side of it too. But you can't the the sports card market does not allow you to compare with any degree of certainty or reliability that a card that sold on one auction house would sell on that same day for the same amount on another on another auction platform. Our hobby does not work that way. You can learn more about this in my book Pops and Comps on Amazon if you want a little plug there because it explains these things that a lot of people don't understand or realize or just are not sophisticated enough or just haven't thought yet to think that, you know, not all comps are created equal. Not all comps mean the same thing. You have to consider the auction house. So listen again, that's just one more nuance in comparing this Jackie Stan's Jackie sale for 9900 to the one on Golden. Different card, different patches, different slab, different auction company 14 months earlier. So when you take all that in context, I maintain I'm not offended by $9900 in May 2026 for that Jackie on Fanatics based on this card selling on Golden 14 months earlier in a lesser slab, lesser patches in my opinion and again when the market was different. So great. I I thank you Turner by the way, for sending me that. That's really good information to add to the discussion. So with that said, I turn it over to the other guys on the panel for you to chime in on that and I'll show you the card again just so you can all sort of see it again. This card sold for 4, 600 bucks in March of 2025 on Golden Auctions. It's very nice. I love it too. Don't get me wrong, I'll buy that for five grand like, would I buy it for ten? No, I would pay ten for that. I would not pay ten for this. Okay. David, what do you. If you don't think anything, that's fine. I'll go to more comments because we have more. Yeah, no, I understand how the price gets there for me, which I think you're concentrating on the card and the price of it. And for me, I just keep going back to a little bit of irresponsibility, which I know that you. I know you don't feel the same way, but I'm dealing with people's debt all the time. I'm a mortgage broker. Right. And I'm trying to help. Oh, what happened to David? People get it. So that's what I'm concentrating on is how. Right. And. But I get it. It's a great card, and it's probably worth more than that, and he's gonna probably be fine in that way. I'm just thinking if he keeps the card and has a hard time paying the bills, I'm looking at more in that version of it of. I feel kind of bad for his family. Yeah. But at the same time, he'll get over it. There are different. There's different threads going on in this whole. Right. Remember when I introduced the topic tonight? I mean, we had a good 15 minutes before I even read the email. Right. There's. There's the card, and then there's. And then there's the. The. The dec. The financial decisions that Stan made to acquire the card. And. And that's different. Like, we can judge the card and we can judge Stan. There are two different things there. Joe. I like the second card. It's. It's a one of one as well. Yeah, it's. It's the same product. It's the same. It's from the same product. Yeah, I. What I like about it is the patch window. Same Brooklyn, and. And kind of the artistry of that. I don't actually even recall what the original patch windows were. Could you show the first? Yeah. What is that even? Are those just rectangular patches? It's just. It's just like any patch cards, just three patches. You know, I. I get a little idiosyncratic with my. My MM cards, and I like patch windows that have a little more going on with them. And so, like, I know the relics are the important thing, and those. Those. I'm not saying that the jerseys are ultimately better, but aesthetically, I really like the Brooklyn thing. And. And, you know, I. I think in the same way that, you know, it's it's. It's a, it's a cool score for him to get the one of one that, you know, at 10K, that 5K card. I think that's. That's a pretty nice one too. In fact, I might actually prefer that second one at that price. Okay, well, I do too. Oh, sorry. You prefer the. The cheaper. I might. I might. I have to see them in hand. But the Brooklyn patch windows make a difference to me because I think they add something. I'm usually aesthetic. I'm usually not a fan of. Of patch. Patch windows being in the shape of letters. There is. There is fabrics of the game. I like these. I've picked up a couple of those lately, but I, I personally prefer that one. A couple more comments here. Now. Not Yelli says I don't know Stan's hobby experience, but I wonder how he would feel if he discovered a better patch card in the Future selling for 4 to 5k. Would it change his belief in the one of one? I think he'd probably be concerned personally. Not Yelia, but I don't know for sure. Skeppy says do you have as much confidence in Panini for game use versus upper deck as an example? Sure. I mean, again, it's. It's a leap of faith that, that we have to take. I think same thing with, with. With even autographs. I mean, who knows what. Who knows? If players like look at the Luca autos. Everyone thinks this is mom. I mean, it's in the back of my mind for sure. Yankees fan says, how many bidders were on this card? I don't think fanatics tells you that. But there were 33 bids on the card. Foul ball says if you have to use a credit card, you can't afford it. Yeah, but still doesn't mean you can't buy it. Credit cards are there for people to extend themselves. Affording it and buying it are two different things. He doesn't need to afford it to buy it. Obviously credit cards allow for that. I'm not saying go run up your credit card on your credit card on sports cars. I'm not saying that at all. But that's his decision. Jim define says if. Is everyone okay with destroying full historical items to put patches and cards or should history be better preserved than that? It's a huge question. It's a whole different question. Jim defined. Maybe we will talk about that one on the hangover. I'm gonna. I want to note that one for potential hangover list. So just. I will kind of want to cut can, can one of you guys do me a favor and just copy that comment down? Just write it down and text it to me or something like David, thank you. If you don't mind, just write that one down. It's Jim Defina 10:45 your time. I'm gonna go on to a different comment if you can just look in the comments stream. Jim defined cards on and thank you. Rock lay deck says sorry Joe, I got none of that from his email Upstate says spend what you're willing to lose. If you're willing to lose your marriage there is most likely deeper rooted issues and it's not solely the card. Yeah, fair Skeppy said. Now here's, here's a hot take Skeppy says and, and the one thing I'll say Skeppy, is that you, you, you don't know. You're saying this like it's fact. You don't know Skeppy. I mean it's plausible that. But what you're saying is not true. So I, you know, I think you got to temper the comment a little bit. But Skeppy says that, he says factually this is not Skeppy's opinion. This is, he's, he's, he's presenting this comment to us as a fact. He says the email was sent to pump up jersey cards. It was a manipulation play. Read it again later after this discussion. I saw it the instant you displayed and read it. So Skeppy is saying that the guy is, it's purely market manipulation and, and he was not believing what he told us. I don't, I think, I don't think Skeppy is right. I, I don't see it that way. I could easily be wrong. Yankees fan says we don't know enough or should or should we judge? Maybe the credit card offers 0% for a while. Maybe he does get rewards. He is selling his other cards off too. He has one expert and others I'm sure would buy it. Fair situational says yes worth double that 14 month old comp of a different version patches much better and 14 months later although Lantern tells us that his comp his car ladder was set to Canadian money so that 4600 is more like 3200 or so. So it's actually triple the price. Now Rock Latex says Josh doesn't have much of a poker face. You've noticed that too. Hey Rock Latex. No he does not have much of a poker face. Area 51 says most people fear being shield bid so they wait until the last second. To put their max bid in. But sometimes you miss it. You miss the end. It goes for less than what you would have paid. That obviously that that's a good point area. And that does happen. He says so is shill bidding. So has shield bidding suppressed prices now we'll talk have too much there for right now. Area 51. We're already an hour over the end of the show. Okay. Okay. That's it, guys. That's it. I'm. Pumping up a card. If two billionaires discovered that card and went into a bidding war, it could be a million dollar card. Yeah, he's right. This, let's face all these values are made up guys. They're, they're two people or three people going at it like this is, this is, these are sports cards. This is not a true commodity. These are not gold. The Jackie Robinson story continues, but the discussion takes an unexpected turn. Jeremy Lee, David Chase, Joe Poirot, and Josh Adams explore one of the most uncomfortable questions in the hobby: where is the line between collecting and gambling? Using the now-famous Jackie Robinson patch card purchase as the backdrop, the panel debates risk, conviction, financial responsibility, debt, marriage, hobby passion, and whether collectors sometimes justify decisions they know they shouldn't make. The conversation also explores card valuation, one-of-one psychology, memorabilia cards, grading, market dynamics, and the challenges of separating emotional attachment from financial reality. Whether you agree with the buyer or not, this discussion touches on something almost every collector has experienced.
