You know also, number one, he sucks. Number two, he is the most unlikable, whiny baby when things don't go his way. Oh, I saw the thing stinks. He didn't shake hands or anything. I hope he trips on a curb and shatters his kneecaps. I'll buy that card out of spite for 300 in a month. Here's the thing. He's a loser. Jalen Brunson. You gotta like Brunson. You have to like that little fella. And I hate all things New York. I like him. I don't like him. Oh, I like him. On his shoulder. He was just emotional, which is usually like, oh, I love that he's dad. His dad. Exactly. And I was just like, the problem was it was either him doing the interview or the person doing the interview. One of them needed to stop because he wasn't ready for it. Yeah. And she wouldn't just walk away because he was just like 10 minute pause every. Between every. I'm just like. Just let him be emotional. Go off and do your thing. Because that was where I was. You got to like him on. On the court, though. Actually, no, I don't like him on the court because he flops so terribly. Did you watch much of the actual finals? Because he. That was the narrative. He was not flopping at all like he did in the regular season. I watched the game on Saturday and he flopped constantly and so did a lot of people. But I mean, he did. He's flopping noticeably better in the finals. That's better. Oh, yeah, he, he does, he does. The head snap. It wasn't just him. It was a foul from everybody every two seconds. It was brutal to watch. I like him. Now I get why I don't watch it. It's such a, it's like let them play the game and stop, stop rewarding that. Yeah, exactly. It's however, worse. I really liked watching them play the Knicks team. They didn't even care till the fourth quarter. It's awesome. I was happy. It's a team of closers. I, I, well, I mean, I think they probably knew there was. I think what did I, I got, I pulled up a post. Abc Always be closing. It showed every game they were ahead double digits at some point, if not for the majority. Yeah, the spurs were ahead and, and they still managed to lose all but one game. It's. Yeah, I think they kind of knew they didn't have to try too hard as long as they maintained a close enough, you know, distance behind them within 10 or so points. Sure, they were pretty close. And by the way, just to give you an actual audio clip of something of some, some sensible speak for a minute, I think Wemby is going to be a top, maybe the greatest player in the game in the next couple seasons. I think he'll win an MVP again predicated on his health, I think he'll stay healthy or if he stays healthy, I think he'll win an mvp. That team already came out as the odds on favorite for next year. The spurs, as they should. Great position with all the rookie contracts. He's going to be unbelievable. It simply wasn't his year. But the bigger point is this is why you have to be careful with hype in any sports situation like cards. And what's unbelievable is we often point back at 2020 and 2021. Covid, like, how could people do that? And look at the guys they're buying. And look at the prices we are now paying for people today though, who have accomplished almost nothing in their career. It is the same mentality, it's the same hype train, it's the same result. You get an unbelievable spike and immediately after the negative result. And by the way, we're not even in the midst of the offseason yet. Wait till we sink in. Those cards will be. I mean, it's not just a silver. Everything of his is way, way down, aside from his seven figure cards. They haven't sold since. There's been no card sold over. I think the highest sale in the last couple days was like 25 grand. For a numbered prism. Okay. Yeah. If you want to tell me his unbelievable grail cards that are never going to sell are not being sold right now? Of course not. People with that kind of money are not dumping stuff right now. But everything else in the actual market, the amount of sales, his sales volume on ebay, his pricing, everything is way, way down. Is it going to rebound? Of course. He's going to be great next year, and we'll be all excited for him. This is why you have to have a little bit of foresight when buying basketball cards. So I will go ahead and put some caveats on all that. You're saying like a spike. Like, everybody heard the hype and they said, I'm gonna go out and buy Wemby. I get it. That did happen probably in the last few weeks. Maybe the last month. About a month. But if you were anytime, if you were an owner of those cards, anytime before that month, you're still ahead than where you were. Sure. This time, I don't know, two months ago. So at this point in time, his silvers are the same. They're about 2200 bucks. A month ago. Two months ago. So 18 to 2100. May. Those were the. You had sales 2400, 2469. Slightly higher than now. So slightly. Well, actually, the Last sale was 2490, which is still just a little bit higher. Buy it now. Sitting right now for 2,400. Well, there are. There. Are you sure? Because I'm looking at a PSA on bids. PSA, 10 silver Wimby at this very moment, 88 bids. It's up to 26, 22. Oh, yeah, guys, just buy the. Buy it now. And they're on Facebook, too. I actually counted a guy today. He said, hey, I take 23 right now. I was like, I take. I give her two grand. I'm looking to see. I don't see any. I don't see what you're talking about. I don't. Maybe they got taken. They might have gotten. They're not. Either way, now. The cheapest buy it now is 2750. Don't do it, people. Stupid. I mean, why is that stupid? Because he's still only 22. I'm not saying buying him is bad. This is the same argument as last week, though. Two weeks ago. Wait two weeks and that card will be sub $2,000 again. Maybe. But to the point of. It's the same guy who's fighting me, though, at 3,300. They're all going to spike. Look what they did the counterpoint, nine sales over my sale, by the way. Nine higher. Okay. And probably 45 lower. So the only problem with the argument is it's going to go lower is the pricing that they are now selling at is above what it was pre them getting into the Finals, which it should be, he accomplished. I mean, you go on a finals run, it should be higher than two months ago before you enter the playoffs. So. But now we're entering the off season and it's left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth because a lot of people think, hey, he was a little bit whiny. Maybe he's not as likable as everybody thought. Maybe he's not ready yet and it's going to take another year or two. And I'm telling you, give it 30 days from now when he's not in the news for anything because there's no basketball being played. I think those cards doesn't matter. Take Wimby out of it, though. Just avoid hype. And if you're a collector, like you said, hey, guys who have owned it for a long time, those guys don't care because they bought it to keep it. I have no issue with that. If you simply buy car, There's Ken Griffey Jr. Cards that I've had for years, I guarantee I've overpaid for, and I probably had them for years. And it doesn't matter that his market has spiked. I bought at a terrible time, but I'm never selling it. Don't care. But most people do what I do and what you do. There's some stuff you buy, you're never selling. There's other stuff you buy to flip to make a buck. And then I can go buy another card. Sure. 90% of people do that, to a degree. I think there's very few people who simply just buy and don't sell and don't flip. I think most people buy to collect and maybe they're a little more slanted that way. Where, hey, I buy more to collect than I do to flip. But they still use flipping to fund their PC purchases. My whole point is just, that's fine. Sure. Just avoid certain times. And I'm just. That's why I was just so surprised we saw all the sales that we saw with him. Because we always talk about markets, you know, we've gotten smarter, maybe we haven't. Well, I mean it there. There's also the flip side of this. We go over to Jalen Brunson and if you did buy back when he was when he had got. So let's say back card letters, slowing down or it's this computer, one of the two. So back in, call it. Clear your cash. Actually April. So his silver was selling for $304. You go to May 27th. A thousand, it was 940. 980. Yeah. Almost a thousand. And now three weeks later, two and a half weeks later, 1900. So yeah. And even him, if you're not in for the long haul, you should have sold him. It should be for sale right now. Oh yeah, for now I would definitely sell. But it's like if we had all taken the advice of don't buy the hype on Jalen Brunson, those people would be out a thousand bucks on that sale. So it does, it makes sense. There's no hype like the Jalen Brunson hype is not the Wemby hype. I think there's a difference with the hype that you're talking about though. It's like, okay, you cannot buy the hype if you're a more conservative buyer. But if you like to take a chance, a risk, call it a gamble, then those people who bought into Jalen are rewarded. If they bought into Wimby, they are at a deficit. But either way it's. I think they're just used to doing that because they're buying into cards to begin with. Because it is in a lot of cases when it's based on performance like this, it's going to be a gamble. And that's why by the way, his pricing, it's still selling cheaper than Wemby. That's how you know the hype with Jalen is nowhere. It's. It's 5% of what Wendy's hype is. Yeah, well, I mean, right. And Wemby's population is way higher too. Oh yeah, the still outsell. He's got 5, 5100 and Jaylen 600. Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean. And by the way, Brunson is great moving forward. Awesome. Like, I think he's fairly likable. He is not anywhere near as popular as Wemby and never going to be. I will say he is likable. When I made my comments about him after the pr, the post game interview was just. That was just frustrating to watch. But other than that, you don't like emotion being shown toward a parent. That's why you Gibsons are known for being cold hearted. No. When's the last time you and your dad had a good cry? The Tim Gibson family. When's the last time you and your dad had a good cry? Exactly. You don't remember the last time you spoke to him? Exactly. We don't cry together. We do talk, though. We do. Case in point. The point, I think, also is if you are looking at these cards, too, at this very moment, does any of it get affected by the fact that PSA isn't grading anything right now under, you know, what do we say, 200? I mean, for us, they're not. It's tough to grade cheap stuff right now. Yeah, some of those. Yeah. But like, if you have a Wemby Silver, a Brunson, you're still sending that stuff. Brunson base, you're probably not sending right now. Yeah, I mean, he. I will tell you this, last night was the most positive sign I've seen in terms of resale in the last month. Oh, really? It's a couple weeks leading up to the PSA news of shutting down the lower tiers. And since we had over a hundred people, probably like 120 people for the peak last night on the ebay live show, which lately is huge for us, that's double what it's been. I don't know what's happened the last month. And the demand, the amount of people coming in and specifically. Hey, any slabs? Because it wouldn't just be players. I always do the players. So if you have a player request that Tim will kind of note it down or move to the front of the queue. This was specifically. Hey, looking for PSA nines and tens, like guys. So there's definitely a demand being created because that pipeline has slowed down some, which is weird because the cards are still coming back every day like they were. I think this is people, though, who aren't sending their own stuff in right now. Well, it's more like they just need to reload on inventory immediately because they see a premium as well. Absolutely. I was talking to Funkle and he was showing me. He's like, I don't think Valuable comes back ever. And I think he may be right. At least not in any near future. Not this calendar year, I don't think. At all. Oh, it definitely won't be this calendar year. But I think even in the future, imagine if we are still in the market where PSA is king and we have a similar mentality that we're seeing right now. People are hoarding cards that they want to get graded that they don't think is worth to get graded at the current $80 level. Yep. So they Have a stockpile. The moment they open value gates flooded, they shut it right back down. There's not a world where you can open it back up. So see, I disagree there because that is still 80. Didn't Ryan say it was like 70 to 80% of the businesses bulk? In terms of numbers, remember if you. Yeah. Thought it was that high. You have to at some point open it back up. Even if it's just open, hey, we're open for a week, get flooded, shut down for three months. You have to have it back open though. My thinking was they could do like a. Not a lottery system, but maybe a first come first serve. Open it up. They sell so many Q, close it up. But then you start thinking, well, they'll just abuse it like the bots abuse. Like when Topps has a pre sale, there'll be somebody abusing that system where they'll get all of their cards graded and other people won't be have a chance to get in. Okay, let me push back on that before you move then. What about a system where you only open it to your authorized bulk submitters and you gave them a cap on how many total they can submit. I mean pay you 42 accounts. You can all sub 10,000 cards. So those subbers though, does that mean they are now going to use a. Essentially a middleman. I feel like that's away from them allowing the individual person to grade their own cards. Correct. But that's what you just said. The alternative being everybody hoards them and then when it opens everybody sends in. Actually, I think the alternative is they don't open any grading less than $50. I think every grading service goes to $50 and up and that Funko shared that point and I started looking for numbers. I mean that is. That is damning evidence. I will. That man grades more cards than you graded ever eats hot dogs and you make videos about ordering hot dogs. It's just tough to 4, 000 cards a month I think is. Or really all PSA? Yeah, all PSA. All weird. A lot of experience in it. And it's like I cannot imagine them opening up at 50 and not getting flooded still. I think if they open it at 50 right now, they would get flooded. I agree. Yeah, you're right. Because right to our discussion the other day. I've got relatively. But it goes to a lot of people's mindsets. I have those 62 Ohtani rookies. If you said it was 50 bucks and not 80, I would grade every single one of them there. That's Enough of a delta. Well, and here's the other thing he was pointing out to me. If you go to ebay right now and you buy a card that's raw, did you know you can grade it for $50? So somebody. I've heard two. I got two emails about. Well, I've got a number of things. I think you've seen them, people saying, hey, this looks like it's still open. I've had people, though, who have tried it and it kicks back that, hey, that service is no longer available. So once you start going through the process, I haven't heard it on the ebay one because I think ebay is just a discount that they were going to give you on regular anyway. And I think he's done it as well. Okay, okay. So that one, I believe is open. Now. I have heard some people saying that GameStop was allowing them to still submit cards at the price of valuable, but it was giving them regular service. Now, up until Friday of last week, Jerry Petrie was saying at his GameStop in Huntsville, they were still doing that. We were just in Huntsville. Thanks for the invite, Jerry. Thanks a lot, Jerry. So that the G. I don't know. I don't know if they're doing that across the country, but there's like little loopholes here and there. I know people are still trying to find, like, how do I get my cards graded for cheaper. But the. I think the PSA eBay one is probably the only option I think is going to be sustainable for the near future. But still, I've got to figure out this week too. I think I'm going to go. I think Shep still does SGC if he gets enough in a submission. I think. I do think I'm finally just going to drop those off. But yeah, dude, it's a tough landscape. But I will say the demand for graded stuff has not gone down. I'll be curious, what is this week? This weekend is the big national card show. I mean, graded stuff always has a premium. That's not a question. But last night was the first time. And again, just to be give you real numbers, I don't want to exaggerate a minimum of 20 different buyers at least because at the end me and Tim were joking about it. He's like, dude, should I just go grab slabs? I was like, you talking about like in your live last night? Yeah. So again, small. I understand too small window. Right. 120 people. Overall, I think we had a thousand views, so it's a relative. And these are buyers. Yeah. But to have 20 guys comment. Minimum of 20 guys comment the same thing. Yeah. I love. Need slabs, though. But okay, that guy too. But. Or just straight out ask. Hey, any slabs? Yeah, probably half and half. I would say about 10 were just. 10 to 12 were just. Hey, any slabs? PSA? 9 or 10. The other guys were. Hey, looking for Jordan Alvarez. Oh, oh. A PSA or BGS or SGC holder. Like Slab cards. Do you think the majority of them were resellers? Majority, no. Because again, my. This is not a brag, but just to speak to the mindset, if you're. If you're trying to buy singles on ebay live to make money, you don't go to the most. Like, that's a popular room. You're not getting a deal on most stuff. In my room, we get close to comps. It's hard to resell unless you're prospecting. I just think, hey, I'm willing to pay Jacob Mizarowski, the pitcher for the Brewers. I don't know if you're familiar with him. I know of him. Okay. On fire. Skeens level attention right now. He is unbelievable. He's. We sold a Blue tops Series 1 auto for BP last night. Three days ago, when I listed it, somebody offered 325, which I was like, yeah, it's kind of in line with comps. A little low, but maybe you guarantee a number if it goes to live auction. You don't know. I still sell it through ebay live, but I would just go on with a Buy it now. Yeah. And then I just forgot about it. Didn't respond to the message, didn't hear back. Left it, but I moved it. It was originally scheduled for next Sunday show, which is a big mantle. We're doing the maze rookie. Next Sunday show is going to be crazy. I put this in that show. It had 200 and it was either 248 or 258 watchers in three days. I've never had that many watchers on an item that quickly, ever. Crazy. Yeah. So I moved it to last night. I was like, I'm just moving this up. Like, strike while the iron's hot. He just had a crazy outing. I think he just set the record. I bring all that up to say. I actually don't remember what I was going to say now, but I had something shoot. It was about the value of rating. What the heck are we talking about? Oh, reseller. So that card, though, there was a comp in between. Somebody had to buy it now, I think for 4.99. That card sold for 485. Oh. Based off of fresh comp though. So a lot of stuff in our room like does it now. I'll do like lots and stuff for. Hey guys, this is for a good deal. I'm going to show you everything. Somebody will buy it. You get a good. But I don't think most guys. It was a super long winded answer. No. Most people there are buying because it's a card. They want a PC card or a guy. They're like, hey, I'm just going to invest because I think he long term he'll be good. Even if I'm not getting a deal today, it'll be a deal in a month. Okay. So you think there. There's just demand from the collector of. I want the card but I want it graded. I don't want a non graded version. Okay. Now someone just knock on the door. I think it was the first. Is Chris here? Okay. To that point though, three of my bigger buyers I know do quite a bit of reselling as well and they were definitely asking for slabs last night like I did. I shipped today. Yeah. There was four or five stacks that were mostly the graded cards from the evening. Really. So I do think the grand. Yeah. Maybe the re. Maybe the flippers the guys are trying to flip. Yeah. Are more interested in that. Which makes sense. Yes and no. For me. It's easier for me to sell a graded card at a card show. Sure. Condition doesn't come into play. I also though like to collect. Like my. In general, my PC if it's graded, it's a 9, 5 or a 10. Like I don't. I don't. Yeah. So I don't know. I'd like to know the breakdown. Why'd you ask that? Jesse? Talk to me. In my life it was a little less than average because we didn't have any Disney. It was an all Marvel show and we've kind of established it the Disney market. So it's like perverts need the Disney to. You need to dangle the bait. I thought they weren't using the P word. I am absolutely using it for Disney fans. So for adult two by Donald Duck cards I use it. But the. The cards themselves were all going for the majority at comps or above, which was good. It was just a matter of most people in there. Like the resellers themselves were not in there like they. They usually are because they're going after the Disney stuff because they all see it going. It's just easy to Move. The Marvel stuff is not going up in value as many cases. So it's like, okay, well, that makes more sense. But the times, let's throw back to say a week before it, when you've got the resellers in there, it's like, I know the guys because it's kind of funny. We joke with them now. It's like, guys, if this person's in there buying, then you know it's a good deal because they're going to be flipping it and they, they're in on the joke. They also understand like, hey, I'm here. Maybe I'll find a good deal. Because you never know. And so it's like, I know that people come into the shows, they're looking for deals and sometimes they get them, sometimes they don't. But at the end of the day, right now with the cards being graded, because the majority of all the stuff that we do is slabbed up until the very end of the show, all of those graded cards I felt like last night were going for at or above comps, where in previous shows they'd go at comps, occasionally they'd go over comps, but more times than not, it'd probably be like a few bucks under comps. So slightly smaller room, but still better price realization for those slabs. More demand for slabs. So I think that I agree again, it goes back to. I think there is a premium on the slab. Agree now, which again is weird because there's no shortage of them coming back from psa. Yeah, I just think people are seeing the writing there. Maybe their stuff isn't coming back yet. For sure. Yeah, but. But even like this week of the show, like I set up at the show mostly to buy, I really don't. I will sell some stuff, but in general I'm looking to. To load up. Yeah. And especially for this new repack thing we're going to mess around with and we'll focus on slabs. Like, I'll buy anything, but slabs make it easy. The other nice thing about slabs is if it's not brand new, even stuff 10 years old, I'm trying to think of like a rookie from 10 years ago. Condition comes into play. Like if I have a raw 20 rookie card. Mahomes, that's not $20. No, but some of it is. Like, it's cheaper stuff. 20, 30 bucks. Sure. Josh Allen, the year after, if I have a PSA8, I can still sell it for the raw price and it will probably have a higher price in an auction because at least, you know, I know it's not perfect, but I know there's nothing weird like it's so. So, yeah, we will focus on that as well. Do you go out looking for cards that you can like if a card is selling raw, and I don't know, maybe this isn't happening as much as in sports as it is in the non sport world, but a card will sell for RAW higher than it will for a 8 in some cases. Yep. And 9 me, if someone has a 7, a PSA 7 or an 8 even up on ebay, people will go after it and buy it and they'll just crack it and sell it raw. I'm fine with that. I know some people get mad about it if it's as long as it's a 7 or higher, because 7 is still near mint. And I believe my auction description is always just near mint. Yeah, I'm fine with it. I. I will say though, the caveat is, I think you have to point. Although I. I always tell guys, anything raw, expect 789. Don't ever buy anything from me or anybody else on ebay that you're expecting a 10. Yeah. As long as you disclose it, though, I don't mind because as a PC guy, I'd rather have a PSA. I'd rather have a Rob Brady rookie than a PSA 7. Wait, PSA 7 drives me. Oh, you would tell them, though? Like, absolutely. Yeah. Like, hey, guys, I know it's not gonna gem. Maybe you'll get a higher grade. But it was a seven. Yeah, I would generally tell them. Absolutely. Yeah. Because that's the thing. My. I ended up not buying a card because I was like, this card is a seven. It is going to sell for less than what the RAW just did. It sold for like 150 less than the raw. I'm not gonna buy it because I don't want to be the guy who cracks it and then resells it. Even though I don't necessarily see a problem with it. Disclose it. But I don't want to disclose it either. The issue though is like, oh, yeah, guys, good man. Looks clean, good chance to gem. It's like, no, you know, it's a seven. Exactly. Yeah. And that's my thing is like, okay, maybe it would. Maybe I'm being 100% honest. I do think this would grade higher. The moment they hear that, I think they start bidding lower and it's like, what's the point? I would pay more, though, because like I said, for PC stuff especially, yeah, I'd rather have a raw card than a seven if it's not vintage? Vintage is different, obviously, but I would. I hate sevens. It's. And it's funny because it's like, why is that? Because we know for a fact that that card is going to be a seven whether it's in there or not. But it's a Mike G09. It's a. Mentally, I do get it. Mike, you mentioned this a couple times on the show that your ebay live streams had. You'd notice, like an audience decline a little bit. And there's always been that talk of summer slowdown. I feel like I'm experiencing that a little bit, too. The last two to six weeks or so, the room sizes have not been as large. And it's honestly thanks to the Die hard supporters who've actually showed up to every show that it's been, you know, still successful, but it has not been gangbusters since February. Like, I wish I could say that. Still been good. Gotcha. But it's. But I. But again, I think it's good for me as a entrepreneur, as a small business owner to ride those ups and downs because as we know, it's like, it's not always going to be us. Right. I need to know. Exactly. And. And if I were to quit my job, I need to know what it feels like to. To feel those downs so that when it really is my only source of income, I've lived through that before. I built up the sort of resilience, both mentally and tactically. So I know what to do, how to keep improving. So that's kind of where I'm at right now. Again, not a sexy answer, but it is real. I think I totally understand that because it's like if I was in a teaching position here in Tennessee in a public school, I think it would be an easier jump from what I'm doing there to doing cards just because of the money situation, not given anything else. I actually thought it kind of related to you because he's at that point. I feel like you were at this point, dude, four years, five years ago. When did you quit? 22. December of 2021. I did it for almost a full year after I started. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But like I, I kind of watched you go through that some too. Like, man, you're making good money and it allows you the time to. It's funny, kind of weird talking to Chris, talking to Ray. Ray does his. He has a full time job. But I've been trying to. It's like accounting type of work for like an auto parts business. But it's like I am wanting him to go full time. I think Chris would probably be successful. I talked to a few people who I'm like, I know they want to go full time into this card world, sure. But I also completely get how difficult that leap is now, now that I've made that leap. If I was in the same shoes, I would have done it much sooner because it's like, oh, I can see how some of this works. Not even in hindsight, just how comfortable I am with, oh, well, there's things I can do besides even cards. There I see how people can make money and feel okay with insurance and being paying the bills, besides just having a steady paycheck. Like, these things were very scary to me and made it much more difficult for me to do it. But now that I've experienced it, it's like, okay, well, yeah, I could see how people can survive just fine. So I totally appreciate Chris's opinion. I'm curious, Jesse, do you think, obviously there's the hindsight. It's always 2020 and that's sort of what you're describing there. But do you think this is a situation where someone has to go through it on their own? Mike, you've described certain situations along your rise to stardom and fame and fortune, undisclosed dozens of dollars. But like, do you have to go through those things yourself? Or can I just say, oh, well, Jesse gave me this advice. Cool. I'm just going to leap, you know, I feel like I could. You would, but I don't think, I think a lot of people have. They're still in that position because they can't do that. They can't just. They need to accept it. They need, they either need the push of like, hey, I'm being forced and my, you know, I just got fired, whatever the case is, or they have to have enough of a. Like you said that on, off ramp to be able to do it because they don't trust it without. They're, they're too meticulous. They're too whatever you want to call it. But they don't trust anybody else unless it's their own experience. And I, I totally appreciate it and I don't fault anybody for it. But at this point I'm like, oh yeah, why didn't I just. We talked about you being too much of a sissy to leave your job. Yeah. I am just curious what, besides doing some ebay lives, what do you do when. In the card world. In the card world. Yeah. So built up an ebay store over the last, excuse me, over the last four to five years. Started doing ebay live, you know, intentionally in November and have done that since. That's what we talked about on the pod in February. I also have grown a YouTube channel. I'm just getting choked up talking about it already. Gracious. We've got four that we just hit 4,000 subscribers there. It's not really my intention to build a big media empire a la scn. However, I am an educator at heart and so I feel like sharing that knowledge and sharing the experience is kind of a no brainer for me. And I mean that. 100 this is the problem. 100 is the more people get to know me, they like me. No, I knew Chris. I knew Chris. And you guys are both very calculated. Jesse can attest this because we were, we were. I mean especially back then when I was started breaking. We were like at each other's houses every other weekend. Every weekend. Absolutely. I was very well. To your point. My job sucked. I made 28 to 32,000 a year and working part time because I didn't volunteer work. It was manual labor. I had already hurt my back at one point. And you do start to see the writing on the wall. Even as like a 28 year old. I'm like man, I've had a hernia disc. I missed a month of work. Yeah. Even if I didn't miss the month of work. I made $2,700. Oh. In the winter it's going to slow down. Yeah. I did not have an appealing job and I was reckless. I've never been calculated. I was reckless. So at one point I was just like screw it, we're done. When you were. When you start making any money on it. I actually. You were doing painting longer than I would have expected. I actually thought you would have quit it even sooner than that. Had it not been for Tim. I wouldn't. I would have. Yeah. But I didn't want to leave him hanging. But yeah. So I, I think very much actually one of the three of us to talk. Because I do think you guys relate much more story wise. It's just your thinking but I think, I think and maybe Jesse can agree to this. I know that the recklessness that you're talking about can be an advantage and I lack some of that risk taking recklessness, bravado that is needed to go all in. And honestly that's one of the reasons why I chose the name Attaboy. Stands for always trust and bet on yourself. And that truly is a mantra that I try to remind myself because I know that for so many years of my life I just never really put myself first or took that first step. Even though inside my heart I kind of knew I should. And again maybe this is back on the couch in the therapy session, it seems like that's kind of where we always end up. But I do think I need people like Mike and I could think of one of my friends, Billy is his name and he's actually coming to Nashville so you guys get to meet him. But really he's much more of that, that type of person. And I've been friends with him since middle school, so I always respect him for that. And I need more of that to kind of balance out the restraint and the thoughtfulness and the care and the detail orientation that I generally lean toward. And so I don't know. Do you agree with that, Jesse? Do you feel like, let me ask you this. We compliment each other. Do you. Oh for 100%. Do you have any kids or besides you and your wife, is there anybody else that you have to take care of dependence anymore? Just, just a 13 year old dog that doesn't seem to ever want to leave this, this world and go over the rainbow bridge. He'll be dead soon. I wouldn't worry about that. Well, in that situation it does make it like a little bit simpler too because it's like Mike had him and Hannah. Hannah had a job, but it was like they also didn't have a lot of bills. There wasn't a lot overhead in their lives. No car payments. Simple. Quite a bit. So it was like, oh man. There wasn't as much of a risk either if you left because I could go back to that job. If you wanted to, I could go and I could go anywhere making 15 bucks an hour. Exactly. So it's like I go back up bartending at Chili's. I'd be murdering it by the way. You definitely would have actually I'm presidente right now. So in your situation you don't have any dependence other than your wife and yourself. But it's like you still have a job that may not be as easy to go right back to. So I think you're probably somewhere in between us like as far as, like how do you get from point A to point B? Yeah, I think you have probably a little bit easier ability to do it than say somebody who had a kid and wife. And you know, I think my mother in law or who was living with us at the time, I can't remember. But anyways, I think you are going in the trajectory that we are. I think it's just probably going to be a short, shorter amount of time than me. Maybe a longer amount of time than Mike in the middle. All right, let's dig into this Card show, though. I'm sick of this therapy, so I'm giving these guys therapy every other month for free, so. So wait, he came on here for free? Yeah, it's been great. Thanks. No, I can. I do want to dig into the card show though. So you're Right now. Because that's kind of the point. You are full time card though right now. There's no work in school, so it's like this is the summer of Chris. Like really, I would imagine, really put some roots down, even more so than you have. So when you come to a card show like Nashville, which is massive, give me like the mindset, the goal of coming, what makes a successful show. Kind of walk me through some of that. I think one of the biggest changes that I've implemented recently and biggest unlocks I've had is to source with the end goal in mind. And not just the end goal, but the actual buyer in mind. Now, like, I think in February I talked about sourcing with the avenue or the, you know, we talked about kind of the street mentality or the street metaphor. Right now I'm thinking about, oh, I've got Dodger collectors in my chats every week. I got you. So I'm specifically sourcing for cards that I know my buyers want. And that is an advantage to me as a business owner because that makes the sale easier. But it's also an advantage to the buyer because they're getting the cards that they want. I don't have to guess. So there are certain players that I'm looking for, certain types of cards, certain price points. And Chris, let me interject really quick, please, before you, because we just discussed, I have a question. I didn't know if we were jumping in or letting him go. So there's no one on the show I would interrupt. But to your point of buying specifically with a purpose, we just talked before you got on about the about slabs and we've both noticed there is a premium interest. Has the PSA news affected what you're buying at all? A hundred percent? Yeah. I mean, I grade some, but you can't grade anything that's, I don't know, 30 to $50 or less. I mean, it just not. Doesn't make any financial sense. And honestly, I've talked about this on my YouTube channel, but I've been sourcing like crazy on PSA's eBay store. They have auctions every day. And, and one thing, one effect that it's had on my business. You know, one positive, one negative. The positive is I'm getting 20 to 50 slabs in every week, just buying like crazy on those auctions. And I'm always keeping slabbed inventory in, which is there's a huge demand, like you said, Mike, the downside to that is I'm often having to pay a little bit more. And so my margins are shrinking temporarily when I'm getting fewer of my own graded cards back. It's a trade off I'm willing to make. But as I talked about earlier, like the last two to six weeks have seen the margin shrink in the audience's sizes a little bit smaller. I think that goes hand in hand with that sourcing decision. But again, as a business owner, as an entrepreneur, you always need to make those choices that continue to chart you in the right path. And if you are stuck in your one strategy or you're stuck on the thing that got you here six months ago, but you're not paying attention to the market swings, then you're missing an opportunity to continue growing. And will I still be doing that in three to six months? I don't know. But it's kept me afloat when inventory has been hard to acquire. Slabbed inventory particular. Chris, can I ask you, as far as you said you have buyers in mind when you're buying a card that you're going to flip to somebody else, do you have it where you are focusing on a particular sport as opposed to say all sport? This is what I have found personally and I know Mike has always been a baseball guy first and then he goes football and basketball. I, I am finding sold a curling world last night, by the way. John Schuster. Curling. John Schuster. That's pretty cool. Literally, I, I'm finding myself being more and more pulled into like, oh well, because of the ebay lives, I've been doing a lot more Disney cards because that's what Funko has had. And it's also been a point where I'm like, oh well, this is just the hotter market. So I've been pulled into doing Disney a lot more and but what I've noticed is like Marvel and Star wars, there's still like a few that want it. But I am not, I'm finding I'm not as knowledgeable in some cases because I've been focusing so much on the Disney market and like, oh, what is that reselling for? And could I find a better deal here or there? And I feel like I am probably just stumbling into the same position that maybe others in the sports side of the world have been in for a long time where it's like, hey, I know the baseball market better. The guys who come into my room are baseball guys because I do more baseball, even though I might also do basketball and football occasionally. So I'm just curious, and this is actually to you too, Mike. This, is this something that you guys experience as far as you need to focus on a specific lane so that you can do the best, or do you think more of a buckshot approach, hit as much as you can is the better way to be successful? Chris? Honestly, Jesse, that's a fantastic question because I think that's, that's a, what was that? A, a fork that a lot of people come to in the road because if you try to be everything to everyone, you end up being nothing. And at the same time, if you are so niche and so like I only do the most modern Disney Chrome product right, then you miss an opportunity to service a lot of other buyers. And so I think finding that niche that is within your card knowledge is really like the place to start. And I'm always a fan of like scratching your own itch first. Like, what are the things that make me excited that I enjoy, that I enjoy following and start there and think most of the time you'll find that your tribe finds you that way. So I mostly stick to baseball, basketball and football. But with the World cup recently, you know, gaining steam, I know Mike hates to hear that, but it is true. I bought Messi. I bought my Messi card, dude. It's real. And that that U.S. game on Friday was electric. I am a soccer fan, but even if I wasn't, it was cool to see just the fandom that surrounded that. But I've been getting asked a lot about soccer stuff, so I try to have a little bit for everyone. But really my niche is focused on the big things that I know. That answers Your question. 5050 for me. So it's two different approaches. Breaking. I think me and Eddie could both agree at this point in our breaking career, we boxed ourselves into the baseball market too much. Oh, so now when it comes to football, basketball, it's a bit of a struggle. Yeah, still good. It's okay. Your buyers aren't there necessarily. Correct. Because they knew forever. It's like, oh, we're not even going to take any. And there were even years I would strike deals with distributors or make trades where, hey, I don't want any best basketball, football. So you can get more baseball. Baseball. It was good. Short term, long term, it's probably hindered why we haven't hired a full time guy. Because that's been a discussion, we've had some discussions about selling the allocation. We had some meetings about this. The alternative is if we don't sell we have to start actually focusing on growing. We would have already done that a year or two ago had we invested more time and maybe taking a little bit of an L on basketball, football. So in the break I think it's yes. Can I ask you about that? You said we would have to focus on growing. Is that a fanatics allocation is saying hey we need you to or is that you and Eddie saying okay, we're just stagnating like yeah, talk us through that. Yeah, just real quick writing on the wall. And Jesse knows this. He has. We both have a Fanax account, a direct account. It is getting to the point where we are offered so much product we don't have enough time. I've really pulled away. I've focused more on the content and the single side and the other stuff. Eddie still works like a horse but it's difficult to move all that product and so for us to keep maxing out and rebuying and like and I, I try to be a good partner to them like hey, you guys are gonna give us a bunch of wave one, we should also buy wave two, buy wave three if we have to and max out those rebuys. And recently it's like man, this is actually not moving like we thought. What do we do? So do we slow down ordering? That's not good because that's gonna affect your numbers long term or do we find say hey somebody else buy. And quite frankly I don't mean buy the thing and walk away. Buy this and let SCN kind of work as the media part of your breaking company. Like the company I spoke with like you guys take the account, go crazy, you sell 10x what I do anyways let, let us do content about it and help promote and do do live stuff. But yeah, to me like Eddie's point, like Jesse had to bring on Ray. Like I, I think that was a good move. You've probably gotten more product now because you've been buying more. Absolutely. Where to that point of like hey we need somebody to come in. So then it's not even a question. We're just continuing to rebuy that. That is for sure the breaking scenario. The singles though like is weird like your question, it's like I, I stick to the big three and when I go outside of that I just try to keep it to super high, high, super well known stuff. So like If I sell a hockey card, it's Wayne Gretzky or it's a young gun of somebody. People know. Yeah. When I sell this Marvel stuff from the Phoenix collection that I got in April, it's a Hulk Jambalaya. I think it's like 100 watchers already. Like it's a popular. They're PMGs of those things. Sure. Otherwise I just send it to ebay because I don't want to deal. I sent it right to D.C. so yeah, I think it's. But there's more, more room there. I think. I try to, but I try to tailor it to my market as well. Okay. Yep. Yeah. I think something you said in there made me think like another great thing as a business owner is to know when the opportunity is right for you in your business and when it's one you should pass on. Sure. And, and you may be coming, you and Eddie may be coming to a head with that. Like is this the opportunity that's still worth pouring into? Is it something that we need to shift our resources, which is your time and your money into something else and let someone else have that? And that's, that is not a W or an L. That is a, again charting the path that's, that's making that choice when you're in that fork in the road that's going to continue to benefit your business. Honestly, Chris, though, to your point about like going tying all this into like your situation, which is you still have a full time job but you're also in the card market. I think the majority of people listening to the show, if they're anywhere, they're probably in your shoes where they want to do something. In the card market they may already be doing a little bit, but they also still have to support the family in one way or the other. I actually need some more people like yourself as far as in the past week I've probably spent literally over a hundred thousand dollars on product and it is, and I have no problem at this very moment finding product that I know will make money. It is like I, I, it's like locked in as far as some of these non sport and I call them what you will, but it is a world that is super popular and it is super hot and like I have no problem with any of it. I just don't have somebody that I could afford to say, hey, it's worth it for me to have someone pay them a full time wage, but it would be worth it for me to pay somebody part time or a percentage of what I'm going to make on some of this so that I could continue to source some of this to continue to bring stuff in. Because at this point, I'm like, I'm literally looking at offers and I'm like, oh, I could buy this right now and it will make money by the time it gets to me, but I just can't. It's like, well, at some point you have to say, yeah, at some point you have to say, hold on, why don't you get this stuff in and deal with that? Because you're not gonna have time to do all of it. It's the FLIR autographics on it was just the auto card like the flare autographics but I've never seen the numbered version. Hand numbered to 50 now if you look carefully. Numbered by Chris to 50. Yeah. And hand numbered by Pedro to 50. It's a purple foil. There is literally one sale ever on card ladder and I think it was mis labeled as like a 1999 and it was this is from like 2019. So I have no idea what that card is going to go for. But that one is pre listed. And then of course we've got some grails as well. The 1986 FLIR sticker, Michael Jordan and a PSA 8. So. Yeah, but are they necessarily talking about the hobby? No, they're not talking about the hobby at all. Most likely more than half the time. I would say it's just more of the fact that, hey, if the player is doing well, if we're talking about how popular that player is, if you see them more and more often, sure. I'm not going to say like, oh, your next buy should be the next players that these top Instagram accounts are discussing, but it's. It doesn't mean they're not something to. Lamelo. Ball has one of the biggest Instagrams in NBA still. Well, I'm not talking about just going to Lamello's page, because you know what, you're gonna get all Lamello content, but if you go to one of these pages, it's like you're gonna get a wide range. So what are we talking? I don't know. I think players pages. What are you talking about then? No, just like NBA. The NBA has their own page, so Instagram page. I see Premier League's Instagram. You're not talking about the total amount of followers for the player. Correct. Young with the league itself. Exactly. Yes. So I would. So soccer two. Number one. Soccer two. Soccer. But UFC has almost 50 million followers. Premier League had almost 80 million, and NBA has 88 million. What is. What does baseball have compared Then. So baseball would be seventh on this list. 29 million. They are at 13 million. They are the really. Of the big three, they are the last. And hockey has. And they're 7 million. They're less than half of the next one in front of them, which is NFL at 32 million. What's NHL? NHL is about half of MLB. They're next in line. They're at 7.3. Okay. After UFC. Going back to that, it was UFC is third, F1 is fourth at 42 million. WWE is fifth at 35 million. And then you're NFL at 32, MLB at 13, NHL at 7, PGA at 7 million, and then MLS at 5 million. Guess it makes sense. Those top ones are worldwide. I mean, even the NBA. Much more of a worldwide brand than these. NFL and MLB and NHL. Yeah, yeah. And UFC for sure. Collector's Edge and some other brands did a ton of stuff like that. And that was 98 and I'm sure there were some before that. The first pack pulled auto was 1990 upper deck. It's funny you said. It is funny you said collector's Edge. I had done just a quick Google of it. It said card companies such as Upper Deck press Pass. Pinnacle and Collector's Edge all issued relic cards beginning in 1996. 96, okay, that makes sense. Yeah. Because like I said, 98. I knew because that was Peyton stuff. That was a big chase. Yeah. And yeah, 1990 upper deck is when they had the first. They were like horizontal cards. It was almost like artwork you actually got. It's almost like a. Almost like a sketch type card. I actually have one of those at the house. Still was in that collection. I've got the Joe Namath, but those are super tough. They're hand numbered to 2500. They're pretty. They're like the hand numbering on some of them. Yeah, it's 2500. It does still seem like a lot back then, you know, it's Amazing though, number 2500 now all over the place. Back then 2500, you never freaking saw one ever. That's funny. Yeah, it was weird. I actually sold some other cool cards last night too. The 1993 Leaf Dominators. It was like this green foil, one of the first cards I ever remember ever pulling that was serial numbered. Like mechanically. Yeah, yeah. Like printed, not handwritten. They're numbered to 5 000. There's only 20 cards in the set and I remember even those as a kid. It was like. That's unreal because it's like, dude, did you see that Tom glavin number to 5,000? They probably didn't have like once the number to a thousand and one. Nothing else exact. Yeah. And they match all together. Yeah. It's probably not that crazy. It was kind of cool.
