Mega Dimension DLC Gives Raichu a Second Mega Evolution and Introduces Mega Zeraora

Nintendo announced and released a DLC expansion for Pokémon Legends: Z-A called Mega Dimension, which expands the game's Mega Evolution roster with new additions including Mega Zeraora. The expansion also confirms that Raichu now has two distinct Mega Evolutions, making it only the third Pokémon in franchise history to hold that distinction. Mega Zeraora is flagged by Game Freak as particularly difficult to obtain within the DLC. The expansion also introduces spatial distortions as a new gameplay mechanic.

Every new Mega Evolution confirmed in the games is a signal the TCG follows — and this time the pipeline is already open. The TCG Pocket set Mega Ascent (B1) just launched Mega Evolution mechanics on that platform, and the mainline TCG has introduced Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir in a new expansion. Raichu having two Mega forms is exactly the kind of lore hook that produces chase cards: the Japanese set Mega X Mega Parade, which CN has reported is reportedly targeting a February 2027 release, is expected to feature Mega Raichu X. Mega Zeraora's in-game scarcity framing is the kind of narrative Game Freak and TPC use to justify a high-rarity TCG treatment.
