All right, we are back. Another episode of the Hobby Handbook. Trent, what's up? How you doing today, dude? It's Fanatics Fest week. It's the start of the, like crazy marathon that is the next three weeks here in the month of July. It is going to be wild. Yeah. So much travel, so much back and forth. A lot of plane tickets here, Ubers to the airport there, you know, the whole nine. It's going to be. It's going to be a very busy time. But I'm super pumped for it. I have the energy for it now. We'll see where I'm at in three weeks. Yeah. Now, listeners, I have some unfortunate news, and that is that Trent upgraded his hotel and he complains about Ubers here and there. Trent will not be taking that many Ubers because Trent is no longer staying at the Meadowlands for Fanatics Fest. Maybe not my brightest move ever, but yeah. For those of you wondering why that's such a big deal, the World cup final is at the Meadowlands on Sunday, which is what, day three or day four of Fanatics Fest? Yeah. And so trying to get to Fanatics Fest, as somebody who has a table there to be in there early and set up and everything, I'm going to have to be battle. I would have had to battle thousands and thousands of soccer fans. Probably not the smartest thing in the world. Well, I mean, literally, like New Jersey transit, if you wanted to take the train, was Going to be hundreds of dollars. I don't think you would have been able to Uber like. I think that they like are limiting how and where those can go. So I'm disappointed because I was really looking forward to the stories of Trent having to walk and then kayak across the river to get to Fanatics Fest. But I would have given up, man. I'd be like, you know what, we're just gonna call it a day today. You know what? We're just gonna not go, I guess. But no, I'm not traveling. I'm not traveling. We have a lot of fan. We have a lot of fanatics for this conversation. Before we get into that, I do want to talk a little bit about our breaking news last time. When Topps had announced, when we were recording the episode live last week, that they were taking the wrapper off of some boxes for their Mega Box release for Topps Chrome Basketball. Now the quick little update is that I don't believe they're on the website anymore, but they were available for days, which to me is a win to me. That is the whole purpose of this. And when we posted the video, we got a lot of mixed results. We had a lot of people that were like, yay, this is awesome. And we also had a lot of people that were super negative Nancy's about it. Well, I mean anybody who's a negative Nancy about it is upset because now they don't get to, you know, go crazy and you know, try and scalp boxes to people. That's, that's my opinion. But my problem, and I think that this is the reality just for our hobby in general is in so many ways, people find a way to be upset and outraged at something no matter what the actual situation is. You see head tops not done this and they sold out in 30 seconds like Topps Chrome Football Mega Boxes did. You would have had all of the keyboard warriors taking to Twitter and Instagram, etc. And saying, oh my goodness, I cannot believe fanatics. They only care about the money. They are that they're selling out so that scalpers can just come and buy all these boxes, yada yada, yada yada. It's a like I feel like the fanatics can't win no matter what they do. I think it was a really positive thing. And I will say I did get a, I did get a DM from somebody over at Bo Jackson Battle Arena. Something really kind of interesting that just some, a piece of information from them as well. They, I didn't know this. For their latest Release Tech Mobile actually did the same thing where they sold boxes at two different prices. You could buy one sealed or you could buy one with the wrapper taken off for a lower price. And unfortunately it actually seems like it didn't make a difference. Well, I mean, so I don't know if you saw Raul stock and trade his video, but I mean it was, he posted it and it was like, well, that didn't really last. It doesn't matter. Like, look, here's the thing. Here's my Trent's honest, unfiltered opinion. I don't care that it worked or it didn't work. I care that they at least made an attempt to combat these box prices. It's showing that, hey, we, you know, I think it was the industry conference, I forget where it was. But they, they said, hey, like we recognize this is a huge problem. Yes, this is a huge problem. We're going to try and do something to fix it. This is them doing something to try and fix it. If you have a mistake in something, are you going to fix it the first try every time? Maybe not unless you're perfect, who knows? But it's them making an attempt to do something better for the hobby, which is, I think, good. It's good intentions and that's what matters. Well, my thing too is, you know, Raul's post. I'm pretty sure when he made that post, boxes were still available on the fanatics or on the TOPS website. There were people that were buying boxes at resale prices on ebay and they could have gone. And the buying open boxes, might I add, they could have gone to TOPS and just bought them direct. Now why you would do that, I'm not positive. Maybe somebody is a breaker who's trying to get more boxes than, you know, the limit on TOPS website was maybe people are not. And this is where I think that fanatics has a lot of opportunity is the education side of, you know, why you should not buy an open box. Yes. Jesse on SCN on Monday this week talked about how he was ripping into some, you know, Marvel Tops Chrome Blasters and how basically the collation was the same that the, the numbered card, you basically got one numbered card per box and that the numbered card, he goes, I could tell you which pack it was in just because of the way that it's collated in the way that the factory produces. That's where you got to be really, really careful because let's say that mega boxes are the same way. I can buy eight mega boxes if mega boxes have Eight packs. I pick out the one pack that has the number card. I get to open those eight packs, and then I fill those other. And I can sell seven boxes as new, just without the seal. So, like, I think that what it is, is I think that it worked. I do, because the boxes lasted way, way longer. I just think that there needs to be more education for consumers on why you should not be buying a box that is open. Yeah, 100%. The only time that me personally, I would be comfortable getting a box with the seal. With the seal cut. Well, actually, there's two. Two scenarios. One, I see the seal cut with my own eyes, and two, it's direct from Tops. I know a lot of people have been saying, like, yeah, well, you still can't trust them. It's like, all right, well, I'm trusting them to put a seal on the box to begin with. It's not changing what's inside. If you say you can't trust Tops, then why are you opening boxes in general? Why are you buying them in the first place? Yeah, but, like, if you. What. What do they have? What would they have to. Nothing. Like, they're cutting the seal off. That's. That's a stupid take. I'm sorry. Yeah, no, I know. And. And unfortunately, there were plenty of comments about it on our video. And that's the thing. I. I don't get it. Some people may be super emphatic about, like, no, I will only open sealed stuff. That's fine. The option is still there for you. But if somebody wants to save 10 bucks and get something without the seal on it, and they save $10 and they can put it towards what they want, who are you to say how somebody can spend their own money? Well, and to me, it's also, to some extent, if you're buying it directly from Topps, it's also semantics at that point, because when you get the box in from Tops, it is in a box. Tops uses the, like, cardboard or, like, kind of like papery. Like, you can tell if the tape that they put over the box has been open. Essentially, you are getting it sealed from Tops. They just took it. I don't know. That's dumb. Whatever. Moving on it, it throws back to that Logan Paul opening up the. That old Pokemon set and it being filled with, you know, different sports cards. Like, it can happen. GI Joe cards. Yeah, that's what it was. GI Joe cards. Like, hey, hey, you know, if you're getting it direct from Topps, hopefully you're not getting any GI Joe cards. I doubt you will. So if you want to buy the unsealed ones, go for it. If you're only going to buy the sealed ones, go for it. But why do we need to argue back and forth of like, no, you should do this or you should do that. No, you should mind your own business. Yeah, I think it's a win. I think it's a good thing. And I'm curious. I would love to hear. We are probably not a big enough podcast to get somebody from Topps or Fanatics to come in and have a conversation, but I would love maybe on SCN or something to hear. I know that normally at the national, Mike and Jesse get to interview Ruben and Mahan. I would love to hear from them what the kind of early report and kind of read on how successful and what they, how successful they think it is. So my entire plan for Fanatics Fest, I do have a booth with jetbreakers, but content is the goal. Thus far. I do not have a list of any sort of hobby related content to do, but I do have a list. Right now I have six different hot dog reviews, four bagel reviews. So yeah, we'll figure out the hobby content. But for now, this guy. No, this guy, no, of course hobby content. You know, hanging out at the table, meeting people and stuff. I really don't have like a, you know, there's no. Although I've been spending all morning, you know, pricing cards and stuff. Like if I sell a couple things, cool. But I'm really there to like meet people and hang out with people because I don't, I don't go to a ton of these major shows. I really go to the national and Fanatics Fest. So now's my opportunity to chat with people, meet people who I've talked with online. So that's really my big goal. What about you? Where are you by the way, on the show for? Do you know? I'm in booth 668. So there's a lot of, there's a lot of different, like I don't Want to say smaller companies, but I'm not on the floor with like, you know, the sports teams and you know, ups and stuff like that. I forget exactly what I'm nearby. I could look it up while. While you tell everybody what your plan is. Yes. I mean my plan is really we do not have sports cards. Nonsense. And you know, us do not have a booth or anything. So we are just. My plan is to walk around film content. I know that we're going to be doing some stuff down on level one for the. What is it? What are they calling it? It's the card combine. That's what it is. So the card combine should be really, really cool. Seems right up my alley in terms of the opportunity in order to like meet with new collectors. The educational side of things I think is something that I'm excited for. So really looking forward to kind of seeing what that's like. I know that I'm gonna be helping out with that a little bit. I'm only there basically Thursday, Friday, maybe a little bit of Saturday. My flights at like mid afternoon. Ish. So we got to figure out what my Saturday looks like. Given to the point of this and the national, it's. I'm lucky to be even getting to go to Fanatics Fest, just to put it plain. And I'm shocked that you're coming, to be honest. I really am. I'm excited for it. So it'll be. It's. I'm very, very excited for it. But really I'm just planning on walking around. It's really cool looking at the show floor, all the different things. I know one thing is I. Yeah, right now, I mean, the Thursday, Friday, Saturday is 93%, 80% and 92%. So I mean, like, it's. It's filling up quick. So if you haven't bought tickets yet, like, go on that now. I'm surprised Sunday is only at 75%, because two things. One Sunday, I know that they're doing a ton of activations with WWE stuff because I know that they know that a lot of fans are going to want to be engaging with the World cup, but they're also hosting a huge watch party for the World Cup. Yeah, if I was there, I obviously can't afford to go to the World Cup Final. I'm sure Michael Rubin will be there, which, like, hey, Ruben, if you, if you have an extra ticket, I mean, I, I do. Come on, dude, I'm here too, but. But I can't afford that. But if I was there, why would I choose to go, you know, watch it in my hotel room or. Now, to be fair, I don't mind Kyle Schwaber. The way he handled himself was phenomenal. But to see the Surrender Cobra on so many Phillies fans Felt really, really nice. Yeah, I'm glad to hear that it went well. It's. I feel like, you know, between the NBA All Star Game, the MLB All Star Game, I feel like. And I mean, God, the Pro Bowl, I feel like a lot of the, like, allure and, like, attention within, like, kind of pop culture and just, like, people's psyche has gone away from some of these competitions. And I know that the leagues have been trying for years and years and years to tweak competitions to get them to be right and exciting again, et cetera. And I'm glad to hear that it went well. Yeah, it was. It was really, really well done. And I'm just hoping that the All Star Game tonight is. Is pretty exciting. I should be good. The previous year was in Cleveland, where I drove as opposed to flying in. And I was like, I think I'm gonna. I think I might need to bring a lot of cards back. Like, if I can source inventory. And people are trying to bring me things, which, by the way, this year as well, we will have a table. We will. You know, we're making. It's a content space, but, like, we will have SCN will have a space where you can come and see me. And if you have cards, you know, I'm happy to try and work out a deal at some point somewhere in the show. But I was looking at it and I could book myself a economy flight for, I think it was 200 bucks. And then I would have to pay like 40 bucks for your first checked bag and then 75 bucks for your second check bag or whatever. First class was a $300 ticket. Oh, no brainer. And you got two free checked bags, dude, that's easy. Okay, 70 pounds versus up to 50 pounds. Yeah, yeah, you're. And so I was like, all right, yeah, I'm gonna do this. And then this year was the same thing where it was like, it was only like an extra fanatics fest. I wasn't able to do it because it was more expensive. I don't know why. Maybe I booked my flight too late or whatever. But it was, it was hundreds of dollars more versus like $100. So fanatics fast. Your boys in coach. But so here's something that I, I meant to make a video about this week. I actually may make one today. But, you know, you saying that jog my memory. So, like, that's a real benefit of being in the Air Force is like, I get free checked bags. But for those listeners who might be debating the national, active duty veterans get in for free at the National. You're going to build a PC portfolio. Now, the portfolio is just players. It's not specific cards that we're looking at. You have a budget of $20, and we're each building a team or a portfolio of five players. So you can blow all of your money on a specific player or you can have a more balanced portfolio and kind of go about it however you want. So Brendan has a list. I made a list of. And you. You should be able to see the list as well, because I texted it to the group. But a list of 15 players. So five of the players just straight up will not make it into what we're playing with here. And then you get Miz, which, like, Miz is a solid pickup, but, like, Miz for three bucks. When I got Bobby Witt for $3 or $2 and Yamamoto for $2, like Soto for five, too. Oh, that just hurt. And I took James Wood for four. What am I doing? What am I doing? Mistakes were made. I have half this case is like, Juan Soto stuff, too. You got to give it all to me now. I, I had a, I had a Bowman chrome rookie that I sold for, I think three or 400 bucks. So PSA 10. No, it was a nine. But still. But still, yeah, like, oh, no big deal. Just like a $4,000 loss. But we always remember the ones that we lose on. We never remember the wins. Yep. PSA 10. Now, there were two sales last night. And this goes to show just the, like, people will whine about when, you know, ebay, live streams and people say, oh, why, why did this person, you know, I had somebody make a snarky comment the other day of, like, I would do this all day as well if I could sell base cards for $5. And it's like, yeah, I had a, I had a junior came and era rookie sell for five bucks. And then I had something else that Went for undercomplic. It. It averages out. That's why you don't hear me complain. But two sales last night on Ohtani PSA 10. Both were eBay auctions. Both ended last night. 5,500 in 6,150. That is incredible. I mean it really is. I get that that rookie card is pseudo short printed. I don't even call it short printed because it's. It's really not. Yeah. But I mean compared to the top Chrome one, I will give you that, like it's got a way lower pop than the Topps Chrome does. So why don't. I mean we've talked about this before. Why don't Bowman Chrome rookies get the love? Why don't they? I feel like that is the one exception. That is the single exception is show hit. I actually don't know that like that's fully true. Aaron Judge. So let's use a guy that's in your PC. A Aaron Judge tops Chrome PSA 10. Rookie is selling for $395. Was the last sale 425. It's about a 400 card. Okay. His Bowman Chrome PSA 10. I'm gonna guess like 300 more. Really? Yep. That's actually really surprising. So it is a 600 to $650 card. I've sold one at 750. Wow. So I mean well then come buy this. Ronald Acuna Jr. Bowman Chrome rookie auto for less PSA 10. I mean. No. All right. Yeah. For a dollar. Yeah. Somebody come take this. It's mine for a dollar. Gosh, dude. All right. Stop rubbing it in, would you? No, but I, I do think like I've talked about this and I think that the Ohtani Bowman Chrome effect for some players you have started to see a little bit of an uptick in terms of their values on the markets. Like paying attention to Bowman Chrome. Yeah. It's not all players, you know. A Bobby Whip Bowman Chrome base is not going to outsell a Topps Chrome base. I understand that but for Judge it does, interestingly enough just. And here's why it should. Okay. Name, name the SKUS for Topps Chrome Blaster Jumbo Now Breakers Delight Mega Boxes, Blaster Boxes Judges year. You probably had hangar boxes, cello packs as well back then. That's what I mean, there's so much. But then Bowman Chrome, it's like at least for then you know what it was? Hobby. Hobby. That's it. And the chances of you pulling like. I don't know man. I, I've been. I'VE long been an advocate for Bowman Chrome rookie autos first off, because they are hard to hit. I mean they are very hard to hit. They're very rare. I love Bowman Chrome rookie autos because half the time I think the image is a better image anyways. So I mean at the end of the day, collect what you like, of course, but if you're looking for little areas where you're like this doesn't make sense. That might be an avenue to look into. Yeah, it absolutely might be. I think that it's ultimately a supply and demand situation. Yeah. Of yes, there is less supply of Bowman chrome, but there's also just less demand for it compared to Topps Chrome. And I think objectively, you know, I agree with you but clearly to some extent the market doesn't. But I think that right, maybe you're like elite, elite guys of Judge and Ohtani. I suspect that Judge has seen the creep up in his Bowman Chrome rookie because of the Ohtani Bowman Chrome rookie. Yeah, I think that it's got to be pretty accurate. I mean Ohtani stuff, his. We don't need to go at it, but I mean his stuff is absolutely exploded for that hitting image. And I mean we, we've kind of dabbled with it. But I mean if he keeps pitching well, who knows what's going to happen to his pitching stuff too, which is already crazy. Price. Yeah, who knows? I will personally stick with the hitting because I think that when all is said and done, I think that he will be in a class with hitters that he is nowhere near with pitchers. The reality of it, you've heard Ohtani talk about the fact that he only, he only has so much longer that he knows that he's going to be able to pitch at this level. Whereas I think that hitting, he will be able to continue to hit very well. Curious, do you think that ohtani gets the 600 home runs? What is he at right now? 302. I think it is. Okay, so 302 in eight years, he's what, 32. 32, 600. No, I think he hits five something. Yeah, I think it's going to be close, but I think even, even if he gets 500, like it doesn't matter. Dude, he could retire tomorrow. He's in the hall. Like. Yes, no question about it. But, but to that point, if he makes the 500 home run club when he came over to the league at 26. Yeah, like that's, that's a pretty incredible feat. And you can say the same thing for Aaron Judge, who didn't debut until his mid-20s as well. But, yeah, it blows people's minds when you say, oh, Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Bryce Harper are all within like, a year and a half of each other. Yep. Like, it blows people's minds. I'm like, yeah, some people, they just debut later. Like, sometimes guys go under the radar and then absolutely start crushing it. Pseudo Ben Rice. I mean, Jordan Walker. Jordan Walker. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't say Jordan. He was bad for like, three years at the major league level. Yes. But he was. I mean, he was a top 10 prospect for a long time. So, I mean, that's why, like, I. But Ben Rice wasn't. Ben Rice was not. He was under the radar. And I mean. Yeah, I mean, he's, he's crushing it this year. I think him, like, he's in, like, fantasy rankings. So, like, overall stats for the year, I think he's top five still, which is crazy to say. I mean, I like to go off of one of the things that I talk about on a lot on, like, stream when talking about specific players. I love baseball savant. I don't know how much you use it. Yeah. In terms of just looking at. But expected statistics, Ben Rice, in terms of expected weight on base, is a. The number 13 hitter in baseball. Yeah. That's so, I mean, yeah, if you're, if you're looking there, then, yeah, you might have had an opportunity to be like, you know what? Hey, Ben Rice might be a little sneaky play here because I bet, I bet his autos were dirt cheap this off season. Oh, yeah. I, I said it, I said every single year I have. The biggest release of the year. I shouldn't say that it's the biggest release of the year. It's not my favorite, but it's the biggest. Yeah, it's undoubtedly the biggest release and it's an incredible class. Now, there are a couple of guys that you need to note are not in the checklist. Travis Bazzano was called up too late. That he will have rookie cards this year is my understanding. Yep. But he will not be. He will be an update. What is the big chase in Chrome Update? Debut patches. Debut patches. In other words, if you just want to be like, at least like me, where I like chasing Chrome parallels and rookie autos. Yeah, yeah. It just makes complete sense. I. Yeah. So I do agree with you. You know, Mike and Jesse were talking about this in regards to Topps Chrome basketball and how Mike was like, I don't like the chase. Like, I know that realistically I'm not pulling the debut patch and that means that everybody else outside of one guy who pulls the Cooper flag debut is going to have to pay more because of the chase. Which, like, I understand and I get that. My thinking here is from a like, hobby interest perspective. Connor Griffin is hurt yet again. He will be back in early September, I believe is the timeline for his return from injury. My hope is that he comes back, has a good month of September and then in October, November, whenever it is that Chrome Update comes out, he has a little bit more hype and momentum behind him that then there is just more general interest for the product outside of the debut patches. Because to me, yes, you're going to have to pay more because of the debut patches, but it gives you more outside of the debut patch that at least makes it worth it to open. Yeah. I mean, and that's. And it's a balance, right? Because I mean, we look at 2025 Chrome update, it's like, okay, cool, 2025 Topps Chrome, great. We don't have either of the rookie of the years in the product. Yep. So, I mean, it's a balance of like trying to. And obviously Topps can't predict who's going to be the rookie of the year and where they show up and stuff, but it's nice that I think our odds are Going to be in our favor for there to be a rookie of the year from Topps Chrome. Yep, yep. I agree. And I, I think I'm excited. I've had people ask me, I will be doing on release day a rip and flip where we are opening a full case of Topps Chrome hobby boxes and then we are selling the singles live on stream. So you're going to do a whole case of it. Wow. We do it every day. So much fun. All right, fine. Sign me up. Knock on wood. I'm crossing my fingers. Both years we have pulled something huge. Yeah. And when I've done it, 2024 we pulled a Yamamoto orange auto and then 2025 we pulled in Otani red wave number to five. Yeah. I mean that's, that's electric. So I've had, I've had good luck myself the last two years with Tops Chrome. I'm hoping some big supers. I've. I mean we're going on two years in a row. The Cheerio Super Auto and the Cruz super auto in 25. Like I don't know, maybe. Maybe Kevin McGonagall this year. I don't know that I have. I've never pulled a super fractor. I finally pulled my first one of one as we talked about. But I. What I'm excited about, I've had people ask me in regards to the rip and flip because last year's Topps Chrome rip and flip was. I mean the Otani Red was nice but like 2025, tops Chrome left a lot to be desired in my opinion just because of the checklist. This year's checklist, both in terms of just the rookie class in general is so much better that that raises the floor of the product significantly. Additionally, I am very, very excited about some of the inserts and parallels that are going to be in the product that I think are going to also make it a better rip. When I'm doing the rip and flip, I am wholly reliant on the fun inserts, things like that selling for good money. That's why Cosmic does really, really well because everybody loves the extraterrestrial talent. The light speeds. Yeah, the light speeds. The things that you're getting fairly frequently. But like they're awesome fun collectors cards. Those will sell really well on release day. And what I'm excited about is there are some really cool ones. Have you seen the Perspectives cards? I've not, no. So they were in 2016 Topps Chrome. I believe they are incredible. I haven't, I haven't done a Deep dive on it yet. But I am so, so here's my thing. Once I, I obviously with the travel coming up, like I haven't done a deep dive yet, but man, now I'm. You got me excited because I'm a sucker for a good insert. The look up is it 20s. I think it was 2016. There were some super cool ones. It's basically really. Yeah, I remember these. Oh, they, they. They're bringing these back. They're bringing them back. Which is super exciting. It's a 10 card checklist that has Ohtani, Mookie. Oh no, that's World Series. And excuse me, it has Caglion Roman, Anthony Kurtz, Yamamoto, Trout, Acuna Soto, Skeens, Pujols and Derek Jeter. And These will be SSPs, correct? No, I think they're common inserts. So you know what it reminds me of though? It reminds me of the Fanaticals. It really does. But it's a better. Yes, exactly. It's a better looking card of it. And now I like the Fanaticals. Don't get me wrong. Yeah, but yeah, I mean these. Oh man, that's going to be good. That's going to be really good. There's. There are there from what I've seen, there are a lot of really cool, fun inserts. The past to presents look really cool where you got like Mookie and Jackie Robinson on the same card. So those are going to be fun as well. I think that there's going to be a lot of really nice. They're bringing back the Expose cards, which is another good looking one historically. They're also doing, you know, the Wrecking Crew World Series at night. There's, there's, I think a lot of really cool inserts. It's a great checklist. I think it's going to be really, really good product. It is one that I think is worth spending money on. Yeah. So I want your perspective on this for inserts. When it comes to Topps Chrome, there's one that I particularly really like, but it only comes out of Breaker's Delight, the Youthquake. What are your thoughts on cards that are like insert specific to a set like that? So I don't like it for Breakers Delight. That's my only one that I have that opinion on. There are, you know, looking at the checklist here I was seeing. Where was it? Was it Expose? There's a insert called Past to Present and that one is exclusive to retail boxes. See, I'm cool with that. I'm cool. What I don't like about Breakers Delight, and maybe this is just a approach that Topps could fix in terms of how they allocate products is that I can't go buy that box. Exactly. Yeah. And that drives me nuts. Well, you can. You can for, for 3x MSR. Well, I know there's no MSRP, but you know what I mean, 3x value from some scalper online. But it has. But, but the only people who get them are breakers and people with the. And not even just people with direct accounts. Like I would venture to guess that my local hobby shop is not able to order Breakers Delight. Right. Mine is not. I know that Mike is able to because he has a breaking account, but that to have a. To have an insert that is exclusive to a product that your consumer does not have the ability to go and open a box themselves. I wish that it was available somewhere else. Make it say, you know, Jumbo Hobby and Breakers Delight exclusive. Cool. I'm in. It's accessibility. Like, I mean that's, that's what it boils down to 100. But I think that, you know, I felt the same way with, you know, finest Breakers Delight. I think the finest phenoms were exclusive to Delight boxes which like really cool cards. It was a shame that I couldn't pull them out of my hobby box that I ripped. But I, and I understand it. You want to have chases and you want to have a way. And I, I get it from a business decision. I just wish that it was. You know what, I'll be honest. I don't love the Youthquake insert. So like I'm kind of okay with it. That for Topps Chrome that's the case. I like that. You know, I think it was 23. No, maybe it was 24. That breaker's delight was the only place that you could pull Legends Autos. And then they changed that. Yes, yes, I, I think that was a positive change. Legends Autos are to me a big enough chase. As long as it's not the. One of the biggest chases of the product. Generally I can get over it because let's be honest, I'm going to advise you to go buy the single anyways. But I do, you know, I do prefer it when the average consumer has the ability to go out and buy it or have a chance to chase it without having to enter a break. Yep, completely agree. As a Breaker, I completely agree because I still want to be able to rip, you know, a hobby or even just a few blasters or whatever. And I want the opportunity to be like oh, this really cool card that I really like that I'm spending my hurt earn hard earned money on for this product. I have the opportunity to hit it versus I can't even get a box of Breakers Delight. So I guess I'm gonna have to wait for this to pop up on ebay or buy into breaks. So and, and breaks just, there are lots of people who love breaks. I occasionally enter a break. Like that's great that I have no problem with it. It's just I also know a lot of people just prefer to rip their own box and if, if that's the case, I then would like to see those boxes to be to some extent available that at least you have a chance to get that box to be able to rip it yourself. Yeah, completely agree. Speaking of boxes, the last one, the last thing that I had on the list to talk about today. Did you see the preview for Flagship Football? I did, yes. Fernando Mendoza, cover athlete. Cover athlete Fernando Mendoza. I am very, very excited for that. The biggest reason for that is that it is going to be, I hope and I suspect that they will, the tops is going to print the crap out of this. Oh yes, oh yes. Paper. They always do. Yeah. But the reason why I hope that is that that's going to allow the average consumer to get their hands on boxes. You are going to be able to walk into Target and there's going to be so many Blaster boxes. It's not realistic that they're going to be selling out, that they're going to be flipped endlessly, etc. Like I, I'm excited for there be there to be a football paper product because I think that it allows Topps to reach a wider audience than they have been able to thus far with Chrome Cosmic Finest Signature Class, I guess was the paper product that kind of was a little bit more accessible, but still it doesn't have the, doesn't have the brand recognition that just like Tops Flagship does. So yeah, I mean right there like Finest and I mean like Finest Hobby only product. Cosmic Hobby only product. Like again, accessibility is really the key here. I feel like Flagship is like you said, it's going to, they're going to print it to the moon. And I saw some like the first three comments or like the top three comments that popped up for me on the Instagram post were why there shouldn't be flagship and all this stuff and it's like what, what are you talking about, dude? Like no, this is the, this is the way in. For most people the first Blaster most people buy, whether it be, I mean, I guess in the past with Panini it'd be different. But like for me, it's like most people, I say if you want to rip a box, go get a box of series one, go get a box of series two, go get a box of Update. Why? Because it's lower risk. You're getting a lot of cards. You're having fun with it. Yeah. And it's. And it's relatively inexpensive. Go have fun with it. Don't spend $500 on a hobby box and have no idea what's going on. Like it's, it's so much more enjoyable when you just take it slow. Yep. But that's with this being our last topic, this brings us full circle back to the beginning of the episode where we talked about them taking the seal off of mega boxes for Update Chrome that like you are going to have people that will complain no matter what. Yes. They you to have people say why are you doing this? What kind of question is that? Just because you don't like a product. Just because I have guys in my stream that say they are not fans of Cosmic Chrome does not mean that Cosmic. They're not going in and saying because they're intelligent collectors. They're not going in and saying why are you making this product? They know that it's a product that a lot of people like and that is good for a lot of people. And guess what? It might not be right for you just because it's not what you want to buy, collect, put money into, etc. When people, you know, when series one series to come out, people ask me why I don't do a ribbon flip, why I don't rip a ton of boxes of it. They say because I saved my money for Chrome. Yep. But I do a little bit of it because it's fun and I recognize its importance because that is the foundation of which all of the hobby was built on the paper cards. And all I'm saying is you know for a fact that the first PSA10 Mendoza card is going to sell for $800, $900 thousand we saw with Cooper Flag. It's going to. So don't be shocked. The big push, the big my request. I know I say don't tell other people how to spend their money. Hold the line. Give it three months and you'll be able to buy one for under 100 bucks. Like just hold the line, please. If you're listening out there, save your money. Yep. It's very, very easy. To get into the excitement of a new product. You know, I want to get these singles. I want to get any. A Murakami Paper Bowman card sold for what, 200 bucks pre release, if my memory is correct. Yeah, something like that. Like. And now it's a dollar card, if that. Yeah, yeah. Just give it a couple weeks. Crazy prices. Like, learn. Now, I'm saying if you're on the buying side, I have no qualms with you posting something up for, you know, let an auction ride. You're lucky enough to get a box the night before opening day or before release day, rip it, post the singles. You know why? Because they're gonna sell for good money. And then, you know, you can do. You can turn around and go buy another box or you can buy a cool single or you can do whatever the heck you want with your money, because it's your money. Oh, yeah. I've said it before. If you pull a big card, and I mean big, not like massive, massive. $50 and up. Yeah. You pull a big card that you know that there's a very reasonable chance that you are going to be able to buy another copy of that card. Sell it right away because you will. Like. I'm actually super curious. Bubba Chandler on release day. It actually may have been the day before release day because I think I bought my boxes earlier. I pulled a Bubba Chandler gold mirror. In other words, like, that's a super rare card. But with it being rare, the odds of somebody else pulling one that day, I mean, it's higher than a normal day, but it's at least rare enough to where you will be the first to market. You'll be the first one there. Now, obviously cards go up and down, but more than likely on release week they will go down, especially auctions. So keep that in mind when you're ripping these new products. Oh, it's. I'm trying to look up right now as we're talking, a PSA 10 is selling for 225 on a Chandler golden mirror. I think I sold mine for that much raw on release day. Yeah, that's a huge, huge, huge thing that gets asked during my streams. Even if we pull that $50 plus card, people always ask me, should I get it graded? And I go, absolutely not. If we're opening this six months from now, yes, you should. If it's clean, 100%. But if you're opening something within the first two weeks of release and your intention is to grade it, I strongly advise against it. Only because if you're using. If you're grading it specifically for the intention of reselling it. You will get more money now than you likely will then because the supply has increased, the demand for that player has decreased. So in other words, that PSA 10 you just got back. Cool. You can sell it for that. What happens if you get an 8? What happens if you get a 9? Guess what? You just lost all that money. You spent $90 to get it graded. It's a. It's not smart. Your only scenario in which it is worth grading something is if it is worth paying so much money that it is going to be back to you. And right now is not a good example because of how slow PSA turnaround times are. Like Topps Chrome. Great example. Topps Chrome comes out next Wednesday. If I pull a massive card out of Topps Chrome, I'm gonna grade it on site at the National. Let's see another red Ohtani. Alex, Come on. Super Fracture Otani. Don't sound me. If I pull it. If you pull a card that is worth paying the amount of money that it costs to grade it to get it back in like a week, then yeah, grade it and do that. But unless it fits that bill, sell it. Yeah. So I wouldn't even say that. I mean me personally, I'm so risk adverse because genuinely, I just got, you know, a 78 card. My value bulk order back. That by the way, was submitted the same day as a regular order. That's still in grading, whatever. But I just got 78 cards back. A lot of them were super duper clean. Super duper clean. Let me find a good example. Dylan Cruz, Topps Chrome image variation. Incredibly clean card. Got a nine. Yeah. Now like if that, you know, if it was release day and I sent that off and I got a 9 on it, more than likely it, it'll sell for more than raw. But will it sell for $90 more than raw? No. Will it sell for $500 more than raw? No. And guess what? It cost me $500 to get it graded that week. Yeah, but that's not a massive card. If you roll a. Again, an Ohtani Red Wave is a 5,000 plus dollar card. You can bet that I'm going to pay $350 or whatever it is to grade it same day at the national and then I can sell it at the National. Yeah. If it's big enough, it's worth it. 99.9% of cards are not worth it. Sell it, take the win. And the other thing to bring it back to our paper Football conversation paper cards are also crazy hard to grade. So, like, know that you are also likely not getting a 10, which, if that's the case, you need to be super confident that it's going to grade really, really well to consider paying that high price versus just selling it. Send it off on auction and let. Let it ride. Yep, exactly. Well, I think that's it. Anything else, Trent? Unless, out of my 78 cards I graded, I only got 1 5, so I consider that a win. Hey, that's pretty good. Hey, you know, every once in a while, they just gotta throw it in there. Was the card damaged? I plead the fifth. Is there a dent on the back of the card? I would like to talk to my lawyer. Yeah, I just totally missed it. But it's true. It happens. Yeah. I mean, even. Even me, who I've graded thousands and thousands of cards, you still miss stuff. Like, don't. Don't beat yourself up about it. But I'm looking forward to Fanatics Fest. I'm looking forward to, you know, some New York bagels, some New York pizza, and I guess some cards, too.
