Before we jump into today's episode, quick shout out to our sponsor, ebay live. If you think ebay is just a marketplace, you're missing a whole side of it. Ebay live is where real time excitement means rare, exclusive, hard to find cards and collectibles. You can watch live auctions, catch exclusive drops, and buy directly from trusted and quite frankly, the best sellers like myself. Well, it's all happening. It feels like a show. Not just shopping with great hosts, the aforementioned me creators and streamers. Plus everything's backed by ebay's protections and authenticity guarantees. To to check it out, download the ebay app. Tap the ebay live button right under the search bar. Make sure you follow. Obviously, sports cards nonsense. Let's get back to your show. This is what everyone's talking about. Everything's on the table. This is what champions come to take. This is what everyone came to see. And the slam. No do overs, no second chances. No more Mr. Nice Guy. This is Winner Take All. The NBA Finals continue on ABC and the ESPN app. This hobby is overwhelming and I advise anybody that's listening don't gatekeep really help out the newbies, you know, like, don't like, you know, make them feel bad for not knowing things like this. And like, why'd you grade that? It's like, you know, we've all made those mistakes, so let's like, put ourselves back in their position. All right, people, it's your boy, sportsboy. And we've got a fantastic episode of sportscards. Nonsense. It's a weird thing because I feel like I used to do it all the time where I do the intro. Mike has officially, I think, kind of taken over that responsibility for most episodes. But Mike is not here today. Very last minute. Some stuff came up so he will not be able to be with us. And it's going to be. I'm just going to ask you to bear with on some parts of this because it's going to be touch and go for moments, but I think a lot of it's going to be pretty solid. This isn't a real, like, you know, advertisement for how great this episode's going to be. It is going to be great. I'm just letting you know I'm being as real as possible. That being said, I do have a co host with me right now who was going to be a guest, but he's now a co host whether he wants to be or not. Doug Caskey of Mojo Break. How the heck are you, Doug? Man, you know what? I'm hanging Like a cashmere sweater in summer. I'm having a good time hanging out with you. Ready to talk some sports cards. It's a heck of a time to be alive, man. It is. Tommy's wild with an intro like that. Do you practice those? Let me ask you, be honest with me, Doug. Take your recording hat off. Do you practice one liners for when you are recording in front of a camera? Only for you guys. I actually went to the gym today. I got the text from you and I was like, how do I do a nice one liner in? And I thought about, you know, a cashmere sweater hangs in the summer. So that's what I'm doing. I'm hanging out with you. Thank you. That is free to use for our audience if you guys need to use that this summer when you're being introduced at garden parties. Honestly, I have a few notes, I had a few notes already that I wanted to talk about with Mike. And so some of this is going to be things I figure we can talk about. But it's also like, it's always to me a benefit to be able to talk to somebody who is an owner of a card shop because it's a whole world that everybody in the hobby at one point or another either regularly or will experience. And so you, you guys being you and Dan being owners of Mojo Break the. The shop was absolutely incredible when we got to go visit it here just a few months ago. But at this point in time, you guys have now the remodel's done things that like the, the. I guess the newness of the remodel has kind of worn down a little bit. How are things going for you guys in the San Jose area? Is that right? Yeah, it's. It's been still crazy. I mean, just, you know, the real gauge will be now that we don't have, you know, PSA value tiers of some walk in traffic for our submission center. But our trade nights have been insane. It's really just having enough space for people to hang out is. Is phenomenal, you know, is phenomenal. So like, you know, we were, you know, lucky to be able to take over the rest of the building and build up in enough space where people are hanging out. And you know, we have people here, sometimes we close at 7, but they're here till 8, 8:30, just hanging out and ripping boxes, watching a game. So really focusing on the community aspect for us has really helped sales and, you know, customers. Pokemon's on fire. I mean, it's been, it's been a Good time. All right. Well, you kind of jumped right to the. One of the questions I was going to have was about like the PSA value no longer being available and you guys having a PSA drop off in your shop before this, was that like a regular thing where it's like, hey, people probably would not have come in there if it weren't for that? Or is it more like, oh, it's just like an added benefit. They're there and you know they were going to come to the shop anyway. It's hard to tell because when we reopen the biggest space, PSA was open with it. So, like we're really going to get that data in real time because June 2nd was the last day as we sit here, was it June 4th? We're sitting here and we're not being able to do it anymore. So we're going to have that data in real time. But you know, people are still buying cards and they kind of were introduced to our shop and you know, there's not a lot of places to. There's a couple shops in the area, but not any that are really big enough to kind of have a hangout spot. So. And the staff here has been great as, as far as taking care of customers and making sure we have, you know, enough product for people to rip. And so yeah, I'm still, you know, looking to the future of like just building these community based events. With Trade Night, we're having a stage sticker event coming up. So World cup stickers, you know, you gotta fill your book. You have a lot of dupes. We're having two events, the panini trucks coming by too on the 16th. So, you know, just trying to diversify with these types of events to really make it a community based thing. So the, the difference as far as like people coming to the shop, that's going to be something. Time will tell going forward. But as far as the people that are coming into the shop right now or have been in the last week, is it all circulating around finals? Like are they all looking for the Wimby or the Jalen Brunson or is it just focused on basketball mainly? Or is it still. Everybody's looking for everything. There's a ton of segments. I would still say that we sell a lot more gaming right now with the Chaos Rising release. We had a big prismatic restock. So I mean that stuff is just flying. I mean the sports are kind of segmented out. We've got a lot of people. I mean, we're selling a lot of stickers so there's people coming in, buying the panini sticker replacements, buying the books, buying the nice hardcover books, some of the basketball stuff. Like, it's so high price, as we know, right. So it's. It's not necessarily being digested at the same speed that, you know, the other stuff is being digested. So, you know, you're looking at, like, chrome football at $2,500 a box. There's not a lot of customers that come in and buy that, but. But we do have a few of them that are sitting here ripping cases as well. I wanted to talk about pricing as well, but before we go into that, I did talking about Wimbey and Jalen Brunson, just looking at some of their pricing and things like that. I don't know if you've actually had a chance to look. Cause I know you're busy actually running the shop and doing everything with ebay live, which we'll also get to. But the pricing's out of this world. As far as the spikes, specifically with Jalen Brunson, just over the last week or so, I can't. I mean, I'm kind of filling in for Mike's voice here, but I can't imagine there's a world that he says anything but sell Jalen Brunson, like, right now. Because, I mean, he literally, like, what was it? May 5th was selling $146 for his PSA 10 silver from his rookie from 2018 Prism. And as of guess what? Yesterday, that card is up to $450. I. I mean, what are your thoughts like, as far as. Do you. Do you hold out hope at this point? Or even. Unless you're a really big. Unless you're just a huge Jalen Brunson guy and he's your friend, I think you keep it. But, like, I think, yeah, I think right now is the time to sell. In fact, my opinion, actually, I think you've already missed the time to sell, because I think a lot of these trends in this hobby is like, people already bake in the final. So when they went. When they went, you know, they were 3.0up in the last series, I think that was like, the peak, really, to be honest. And I could be proven wrong. But I think people have already kind of handed off those cards that people at the high price have already bought in because they think it's going to go up if he wins the finals. And I think we'd be surprised if it doesn't go up if he wins the finals. I think the Hobby would. But I think that's kind of what the trend is is people get in early. We see it with like Bowman prices, they make their MLB debut and a lot of times the price was already higher before they made their MLB debut than after they make their mlb, MLB debut. So I think it's a great move to sell. It's also like, you know, he was a rookie in Lucas year, he was a rookie in 1819. So a lot of collectors really didn't collect then that are the ones that have jumped back in, in the last five years. So he doesn't have that like nostalgic like Luka Doncic feel or you know, Cade Cunningham or some of these guys that, you know, people collected when they started collecting after Covid. So I think a long winded answer, I would absolutely sell in my opinion. Unless you really, really like them or you're a huge Knicks fan. Well, I know Mike was high on the selling Wimby before we got to this point. I think he was very much of the idea that they weren't going to make it all the way to the finals. And now we're seeing Wimby even though he was already meteoric. It's still gone higher if you're looking. I mean, I pulled up Prism Silvers, PSA 10s at last. What is it? May 16? So two weeks ago they were selling for 2,700. There's a sale I guess yesterday for $4,200. I mean it is, it's crazy. And it, I think he is honestly the only one that would maybe continue to go higher and, or maintain that value if they were to win just because of the hype that's already surrounding him. I, I don't know, like, is that too like pie in the sky, like optimistic for the Wimby market? No, I mean, I don't want to have him in the same conversation as Ohtani. But like, you know, how many times do we say Ohtani's like reached his peak and he still keeps doing that, doing these things that make his card rise. I mean, you know, he may not win the finals this year, but I think it's enough that I think he stays steady. That's another tough one of like, you know, thinking when to sell because he's a very large gentleman and have we seen large gentlemen have a long lasting 15 year, 16 year dominance? You know, it's, it's so. It's a lot of wear and tear on some longer bones. Right. So that's always my concern. But the things he's doing is is like and I hate to be cliche, it's out of this world. The height, the ability to shoot three pointers. It's like something that no one, nobody's ever seen. Similar to Ohtani with a guy that can pitch and hit and do all these things that we haven't seen in a while. So I think we all will try to predict Wemby but it's going to be tough because he's just something we haven't seen before. Speaking of spurs and the team as a whole, Dylan Harper being a rookie and 2025 tops chrome pricing, have you seen increases and or do you think there is being affected currently because of the fact that he is still in this and could actually stand a chance. A rookie could stand a chance to win finals this year. Yeah. And I think the key to him too is that products are still coming out with him in there. Right. You know, still his rookie card I should say so I think that builds on the hype as well as a new, you know we've got motif that I think just did first day issue today. Right. I don't know what that ended. I think I heard that ended at 30 $800 a box or something crazy like that. We were, we were going to try to buy a $3,500 but $3,800 a box, there's a lot of hype for that that class and I think you know he's benefiting from that and you know he's still in his rookie season so I think it's, you know, it's hard to say to not sell but you know he's still going to have more products coming out so you still be able may be able to wait that one out until you know, more and more products come out. Well so going to wax pricing specifically if we're talking, you know. What did you say? Do you know about off the top of your head what A box of 2025 Chrome basketball is going for right now? A lot. I believe the jumbos if I had to and I haven't looked in a couple of weeks so don't kill me if I'm wrong but I believe the jumbos were like $2,000 a box I think with the delights being closer to $3,000 a box. So it's wild. It's wild pricing. Do you have people coming in and they're like hey I want basketball, I want this product, I can't afford it or are they like so used to the people who want the Basketball product, the, the hobby basketball license product. They're used to what Prism prices were or the first off the line prices of Prism were. Are they used to prices like this or is it price people out? Yeah, I think it. Well, Prism price people out. Right. I mean, I think, you know, the ability to buy a pack blaster, you know, helps with the budget conscious people. But yeah, we do have like big collectors that'll come in and ask for cases and you know, they'll drop 20, 30 grand, whatever in the store and, and open it up. But yeah, that's fewer and farther between. I think this product really succeeds in a break format and I think that's why you're seeing the prices really climb up like that. Yeah, I think the, I don't know, I get the sense that a lot of the products that Topps puts out right now, at least like the flagship, the higher end ones, definitely feel like they have a leaning towards breakers. Not, I don't want to say breakers only, but definitely more of a leaning towards breakers. Yeah, I think you would get this, that same sentiment from the community too is the community wants, you know, pricing on products that are, you know, you can get in and buy a hobby box and you know, but I think it's, it's. You're forced with more megas and values at this point for some of the people that, you know, are budget conscious. But yeah, it definitely seems like the pricing, but it's just the demand. It's hard to, it's hard to figure out if it's the demand from brakes, if it's the demand. There's just so many people that are buying product that are causing these products to go up. Right. So it's a, it's a, it's a heck of a time to be in this hobby. Well, and I wonder too because it's like, you know, Topps keeps an eye on all of this stuff. They're, they, they are more fluid with how they price things and how they pivot if they need to pivot. As far as marketing and ideas like that go. Yeah, I mean, I think you see the three major online retailers are all like really all at the same price. But I think one we did see was Bowman Basketball. Bowman basketball. And I don't have the exact figures here, but I think at one point Bowman basketball on a jumbo box was over $1,000. I think a couple weeks ago, because I saw Jared, I wasn't paying attention to it, but Jared made a video and it was like six. It was like $600. So I think, you know, customers will dictate with their wallet. And I think on that one with collegiate NBA, a lot of players that people don't know yet, it was just the consumer who's used to one or the other just really wasn't into that product. So I think that's, you know, and I think it maybe has bounced a little bit back up. But you know, I know we paid more for it than what it was selling at. So I was like, okay, this is something that we need is a little bit of market correction on some of this stuff and customers can speak with their wallets and you know, it will adjust to what people want. And I, I tend to stick more towards the sports side of things when hosting this podcast. But I am going to ask you as far as your non sports side, you said the Pokemon market's booming. We've, we've, I think all heard that right now as far as the non sport products. So all of your either Topps products to Star Wars, Marvel, your spongebob's, if you've got any of that left, the Disney products, is that still selling well for you guys or are you still seeing like maybe. I mean WWE is doing well. You know, we did a lot of smugglers outpost that seemed to do well. Not every product's a winner, but I would say like entertainment category from tops like 8, 80% of them are winners, you know, so there's a really good, you know, product run. I mean Disney Chrome checklist looks like fantastic. I mean, you know, Demi Lovato autos. I mean who could, who could, you know, who could resist that? I mean also Sabrina Carpenter I think has a rookie card in there. So you know, it's going to be, it's going to be wild. It's going to be wild. They continue to innovate on that side. And I think for me as a guy who has like done sports for like 14, 15 years, I always love to get into that stuff like personally because it's like something different and fun and you know, I really can kind of enjoy it with my daughter sometime too as well. Yeah, for sure. Well, and I could go on and on about that side of things, but I do, I'm more curious just from your point of view, like what you would see coming into the shop and that's cool to know like that there's still, that's still moving. You're not seeing a ton of that sitting on the shelves. Heard My Little Ponies on Fire. We just got it in and people Are saying, like, people are ripping this My little Pony and it's. It's awesome. I haven't even had a chance to understand what it is, but we have some kind of My little poding trading card product in the store that's doing very well. I did not even hear about a my little pony trading card product. And here's the thing. If I had, I would have bought it because of the bronies out there. There are. There's a whole subculture of people that Mike would have a name for, but it is. There's a lot of guys who. I guarantee you would collect those cards. I didn't. Yeah. Now I have to look this up. I don't. I think I was so busy yesterday with their ebay live debut that I. I rose. I was running them back into the studio. And you know, one of our shop guys like, dude, have you seen some. My little point people are asking about it and he's like, I ripped some. And I like, it's kind of like it has like a. A prism feel to it or something. And it's really awesome. I'm like, all right, cool. I gotta check this out. So I'm excited to find out what it is. Oh, my goodness. Yeah. All right. Well, that's something that I cannot have any more conversation about on here because I'm just going to get roasted in the comments for it. But I'll be talking about that on the hobby nonsense show for sure. I. I have a question for you. When it comes to one of ones, obviously the more product that we see coming out, the more one of ones we're going to find. Inevitably it's just going to be the case. The longer someone is playing, if they're an athlete, the longer we're going to see those. The conversation often has been like, should you have to grade? Like, do you need to grade a one of one? And the question has been, you know. Well, the fact is there is a question right, like there. Some have said, you don't have to grade A101. It's A101. There's not going to be any others. Others have said, no, you, you should grade that. I think we're getting to the point though, where the market has become. I don't want to say it's over saturated with super fractures or one of ones, but we definitely have a lot more than maybe we did just a few years ago. I think we have to start the argument that you have to grade a one of one even because you're one of one. May be a 10 while someone else's one of one that's similar enough to where they may have been. The market for both, they're like, oh, well, I want the one that was graded a 10, not the 9. So I'm curious if you've thought about that at all. If you're going to keep it. Listen, I wouldn't grade it, but like if, if you're selling it. Absolutely. Because I think there's a lot of different, like, you know, variables that could happen to you if you sell it. You know, maybe somebody's like, I thought it was gem and there's a corner that's messed up and I'm sending it back. You know, it just, overall it protects yourself if you're selling the card. That's my opinion. If it's like your favorite player, like, you know, and you like the way the card looks outside of a slab, yeah, then who cares, right? But like, I think once it gets ready for the market, you know, I think it needs to be slabbed. And that way you're just, you know, you just protect yourself. I mean, these different marketplaces sometimes, like, you know, there's unfortunately bad buyers that think that they can capitalize on your card and now they have a reason to send it back by saying, hey, what item's not as described? There's a corner that's bad, you know, less likely to happen if it's advertised as a PSA, 8, 9, 10 or whoever you grade with that it's protected and they can't use that excuse to, you know, wait until a player gets hurt and send their card back. Yeah, absolutely. And it's even, it's especially true on the, the non sports side in my opinion, just because there's not as much of a distinction between, you know, 2024 Darth Vader and the 2025 Darth Vader. It's like, well, I've got a super here and you've got a super here and yeah, there's a little bit of different design. I like both designs. They're both good. Why would I, you know, what's the differentiation? And I think that's where we get to that point. But that we've now gotten to the point though where you're, you can't grade, at least you can't grade for, for lower valued stuff. Right. If the super, obviously you're probably still sending that in for the, the tiers that are still pay the above $80. Yeah, you're going to pay above $80 for your, you know, I Mean, I always tell people in the shop too. It's like, you know, you know, obviously any card under $500 right now is probably not gradable through PSA, but anything else, you know, in the thousand range, you're going to think about still doing the PSA service. What is the service? Is it JSA that does it? Or maybe I'm just misremembering because I haven't used it. The service that you can submit your cards, your raw cards to and they can let you know, like if it's GEM meant without actually grading it. You have one new message translating. Disney and Pixar's Hoppers is now available on Disney. You could say that again. Critics are calling it Pixar's funniest movie ever. And a wildly entertaining ride. Blizzard Potato. It's certified fresh and verified hot. Now we party. This is incredible. Wow. I am clearing the rest of the day. Disney and Pixar's Hoppers now available on Disney. Rated pg. I've heard that Beckett will do that, which obviously is also still owned by psa. But I think there's a, you know, just spitballing here. I think there is a way through Beckett to pay a nominal fee and get an opinion. Okay. Because they used to do the rock hard reviews back in the day and, and I, they don't do that as much anymore. I think they do it at certain shows. But I, I believe there's a way to just send them a photo and that would be a big opportunity for some of these other companies to, you know, maybe eyeball or do something through some technology. But I, I hear that they're all pretty busy too, so, you know, it's probably really hard to get ahead of all of this. Well, and that's kind of when someone had reached out to us and I don't know if we'll end up working with them or not. It was an interesting idea as far as, like, they're starting a business that is mainly focused on doing a, essentially a preliminary review of your cards to see, hey, should you grade it? Is it worth grading? And it seems to me at this point an idea like that is going to probably take off in a market that is starved for being able to grade their cards. Cards or to at least differentiate between my card and your card. Which one is better? Is it worth me to pay a premium for yours versus someone else's? So it's like, I, I don't know. I was kind of on the idea of should, should we look into that as far as like, is that something we should talk to more people about because of the idea that, hey, I want to know if I can't grade it now, that when I could grade it or when I can grade it, it will be a 10 versus maybe an 8. Yeah, I guess it's just like the accountability guys. Like, yeah, it's a 10. And then you said it's BSA and it's an 8. As the guy responsible for it, then I don't know how that would work. But, yeah, I definitely think there's a need for some kind. I think with Beckett, you could. They could say, hey, it looks like it's a 10. And then if you submit it to them, I think they're, you know, I think they're going to give you the 10 because it's all through their. Their, Their service. But it would probably help a lot of people from sending in cards because, I mean, you know, obviously me and you, I mean, we've been. We know what's going on, but there's so many more new people that don't know a what to grade. You know, they maybe waste their money on grading certain cards or they don't see that ding in the back and it's, you know, they get a five, they've kind of wasted their money there. So, you know, stuff like that could be more educational for, you know, new. New people coming in to really understand because this, this hobby is overwhelming. And I advise anybody that's listening, don't, don't gatekeep really help out the newbies, you know, like, don't, don't, like, you know, make them feel bad for not knowing things like this and, like, why'd you grade that? It's like, you know, we've all made those mistakes, so let's, like, put ourselves back in their position and really help people to understand that what they should grade and stuff like that. So. Sorry, long winded answer. But I think there's a lot of, like, layers to trying to figure out, like, what a grade is just by a picture. So, no, I. And I, I honestly, I think the majority we. You being in the hobby for so long, myself being in the last five years seeing everything that is happening, it makes it easy to think, oh, well, everybody knows that already. But I, I would guarantee it is a probably 70% if, if not more people are on the side of, oh, I'm still not sure what do I do in this situation? Is that worth grading? Is it not? You know, those kinds of ideas? So, yeah, anyways, I. When I Saw that. And it's almost perfect timing, of course, with PSA shutting down their services for right now. It made me think about it, switch gears just a little bit because I know you don't have much more time. You guys are now going to ebay Live as well. It's like everybody, every. Every big channel that we know of is going over to ebay Live. You guys are a little different, though. You guys were live breaking with. Was it the president of ebay live? Something like that, yeah. The CEO yesterday, Jamie Ioannoni. We, you know, he popped in for 20 minutes, the benefit for us. Now we were the. We were the very first show on ebay live, like back when they launched. So we were trying to make it work then, you know, we. Their tech wasn't quite there and, you know, we're 15 minutes from them. So it's just, you know, it really made a lot of sense when they've, you know, really ramped up to get back in and really kind of make the ebay live, like, you know, prevalent on the homepage and really working with their, like 150 million users to make live commerce a thing. And frankly, fanatics came into play and we didn't know if we should just go to fanatics. And we're still there, we're still on fanatics Live. But we chose at that time to really go with fanatics Live and grow that as they started. And this opportunity came back up with ebay and we were able to build a few more staff and breakers, man, the, the treatment that they gave us and like, really like bringing us down and having like, so many people involved in our launch and like, so many ideas. It's like, it was really great. It just, it was phenomenal, the service that they gave us as a, as a seller on their platform. And, you know, we're on day two today, so we're doing some singles, some dollar singles, you know, starts today. We're gonna be doing some Pokemon on Friday along with like one Piece. So we're really kind of interjecting all of our gaming stuff in there. And then we're doing a lot of hockey, I think. Oh, cool. That's going to be. Our main thing is just really doing hockey. I think hockey's in really kind of a early boom stage with all of the young talent. You know, you have your bedards, your macklin celebrities. They're going to. Gavin McKenna is going to be first overall, and he's got a lot of promise. So it's really kind of a little early stage. Boom for hockey. And the value is there. So we're doing a lot of hockey over there on ebay live. That's the thing. I mean with Upper Deck, you know, proclaiming they're being, you know, they're trying to look out for the consumer first as far as their pricing goes and really doing their best, I guess, to put out an affordable product. It has also been with the consideration of, well, hockey also hasn't been as popular of a product overall when you compare it to the other major sports in the US So the. But that's an undeniable fact now, like you guys are breaking it. We keep hearing more guys trying to lean into hockey. Obviously Canada, they are already pretty big fans, I've heard. And then you know, the nonsense on ice that we've got there is been taking off. It's one of, you know, our hotter show. Doug, Doug Plagu is amazing. Not just based on first name, he's just, he's got the. I was going to say there's some bias there. Yeah, that's, there's a little bias, but we'll look past it. But no, no, I mean like as far as the, that market and the fact that Upper Deck is kind of cornered the market with the licensing, I, I have wondered, do you think, do you ever see like tops trying to, you know, get a hockey license as well? I. Not to say like, oh, they're going to go out of their way to try and hurt another company to try and take it. But it just, it's a business, not a charity and if they think, oh well, that's a lucrative thing that we could do as well, it makes me wonder if they would try and do something like that. I. Yeah, I mean, nothing's out of the question. I didn't think they would get soccer and they did. So I mean, you know, it's, it's, it's. Yeah. I guess I wonder if some people. And we've been breaking hockey for, you know, 10 years now. We were one of the first Upper Deck approved group breakers. We're an Internet authorized Internet retailer now. And you know, we're big fans of how they, how they do things. But they've also kind of not really morphed into the, the modern phase and have their product everywhere, which is probably what a lot of their die hard fans like is. They've kind of stayed, you know, on brand to what they always have done and, but they also realize that, you know, you need to get this stuff in front of eyes. You need video of people Breaking this stuff. So they've really leaned into like what we're at now. But yeah, I mean it'd be interesting. I don't know, I, I'm not a lawyer but I think there's like some people say, oh, they wouldn't buy Upper Deck because then they would be a monopoly. So that's, that's, that's what I hear. I hear the rumblings that. And like I said, I'm not, you know, I don't know what the law is on that. But you know, if hockey does kick butt and you know, the Olympics were huge with all the NHL players. If hockey continues to grow, they're going to want a piece of that and they already make the jerseys and there's a real part of me, it's like I wouldn't want that to happen because I like Upper Deck having their, them still having like a major sport as well as, because of course I like all their non sports stuff that they put out. And so to see that they're still doing their thing, they're, they're putting out a product that people still enjoy. I like that. But I, it's hard to deny the, you know, the tops effect or the fanatics effect really, because it, you look at, you know, I saw a post right before we went live. Topps now just put out a Madden card. What was it? Madden 27 with Caleb Williams on there. And then it's like you see cards being incorporated into more TV shows and movies and it's like hard to think that that doesn't have, you know, some connection with Mike, you know, heading up the card side of the business. I just think there's a lot of benefits to the collectible hobby as far as those cards becoming more popular. But I guarantee you there's a large subsection of this hobby that says no, I like my cards valued at where they're at and I don't want to see it have a box price of $1,000 to get a hockey when I can pay $200 for it now. Yep. Yeah, I agree with you completely there. And like, you know, the debut patches, they did things a little differently than the Topps did, but they just extended series that came out yesterday has the debut patch. So you can get, there's 10 players on the checklist. You know, Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer is the biggest. You've got Misa from the Sharks. You've got some big names in that set. So you can get just a, a debut patch without an autograph number to 99 so it's a little bit more available to hit not crazy like a 101. And then there's auto versions numbered to their number. So there's a jersey and an auto of Schaefer number to 48, because he wears number 48. Last night I pulled Dickinson from the Sharks and his number six. So I pulled a number to six. Oh, patch. And the patch was worn in his first game. And then of course, there's the one of ones that we've all seen the previews of that are, you know, The 1 of 1 debut patch autograph of those players. And I. And I think it's awesome that they brought that to hockey. And it's an extended series, and I want to see how that grows. And I think with McKenna next year, if they're able to pull it off and do it with McKenna, it's just going to be. It's going to be crazy. Well, that's what you're going to be breaking here on ebay live today. More hockey, or are you breaking something different? Today we're doing singles, so we're doing dollar starts. There's going to be some hockey mixed in, but we have, you know, Ohtani Cards, Wemby Cards. We're just going live and. And showing off some cool cards that all started a buck. So we're going to be doing that weekly as well. So, you know, right now it's hockey, singles, and TCG over on eBay live. So that's kind of what we're rocking over there and really kind of letting people know what we're doing. Very cool. Well, Doug, I know you gotta run. I really appreciate it, coming on last minute, helping to fill some of this episode, knowing that there was very little preparation involved. So I think. I think it went over very well, though. I appreciate it. And tell. Tell Dan there's. This was no slight to him. I wish that he was here so I could wear his jacket and just smell him all the time. So wishing him and the rest. I was just looking at that video at the Mint. It came up on my feed of you putting on dance jackets. So we got to do that again. Yes. At the National. Let's make it happen. Yep. Absolutely. Well, thanks for having me on. It's always an honor to be on this show and, you know, let's do this again. Thank you, Doug. Talk to you soon. And we're back. So that was Doug Caskey, obviously. Mojo Break superstar. We miss Dan. I hope he's doing well. The. The fact that he's able to just Jump on. So last minute was a real hero move. The fact that we talked about My Little Pony cards was a curveball. Was not expecting. And for your sake, the person who wants to roast me in the comments, you're welcome. Okay. I didn't stick in to that conversation any longer than was necessary. I think it is interesting that those cards exist and I didn't even know about it. Not that I would necessarily be into it. Stop. Attack. I'm like in my head, I'm having a conversation with you, the guy who wants to say something about it. So we're doing great. The, the, the fact is there is a whole world of cards right now that is, you know, I, I find myself buying into breaks more and more often. And it's not like heavily into one typically. And yes, of course there's gonna be a lot of non sport, but I've got bought into Mike and Eddie's breaks as well. I bought into a few other sport breaks. If I see like a Jordan like in a, you know, single show or something, I'll go out and try and buy that as well as like any other thing that just kind of hits home for me. And this is what I have found though, I have found at my home where I get all my mail sent to me. I don't know what to do. Does anybody else ever feel like almost overwhelmed because they're like so involved in the hobby that they start getting cards in and it's not like, oh, I've got boxes and boxes of single cards. But I find it very difficult to throw cards away. I will, I will eventually, especially if I've got a lot of them. But I get to this point where I don't know where to put them. I don't have enough organization. This should be. Actually, I wasn't even thinking about this. It should be just a shout out to bcw. I will say the only organization I do have is those like boxes I think we showed off on the show once. BCW has these boxes that have six drawers in them. You have versions for both single cards or ungraded cards and for graded cards. They are more than helpful. I just find that I'm at the point where all my raw cards that I get back, like they'll be, you know, these are the cards that are. I know I'm not going to necessarily PC because I got somebody that I didn't care as much about or it's like a parallel out of 99 or 150 and I know it's like it's probably not going to sell for all that much. But I can't throw away a parallel in good conscience. I cannot do it. I doubt many of you can. If you can throw away a parallel, more power to you. And so it's like, okay, well do I, do I sell it? I could. Haystack. We've talked about them a lot lately, but it's only because it is simply just a very easy option to take their tool, put my card on it for half second, flip it over for a half second and then bam, it's on the site and all I have to do is just hit a button to list it onto ebay, then that is an option. I did do that on ebay actually last week. They all ended on Sunday and I put up like 60 something cards. A bunch of them were like, you know, I would say more than half of them weren't even numbered. Some of them were numbered. They were, they were a little higher and a few of them were decent cards. But overall I was kind of shocked at the fact that oh, the cards that oftentimes where I'm like, oh yeah, that's a, that's a rookie of a player that I know, I know it would sell for like five bucks. And I'm just like, yeah, well I don't want to, I don't want to mess with it. I did that and guess what, now I have like three bucks and some change or whatever after like shipping cost and tax and all that stuff. So I can't emphasize enough how helpful that is. And I can't emphasize enough how helpful like the BCW tool is just a shout out scn10 if you are going to use one of their products, at least get a discount on it. But all that being said, on my desk at home, there are literally stacks on stacks on stacks of cards from Marvel to football, like Chrome Football this year to Star Wars V Friends, all the other non sports stuff. And then it's like a lot of vintage stuff as well that somebody has sent me or like I gotten a lot of like a few other things and they sent me some, some kind gifts of non sport cards. I'm saying all this because I think it's easy to get overwhelmed at times in the hobby, especially these days when there are new products coming out every. Not every month, not even every week. Sometimes you have multiple new products every day. And I am getting to this point where we're in the summer months, it feels like maybe a slightly more relaxed feeling. And I have gotten to this time in my life where I don't want to stress about something I enjoy. So, yes, there are going to be times where I'm taking little breaks. I have taken a little break in the last month. I just got into a break for the first time yesterday for I think roughly about a month. I have done some single shows. I actually broke Star Wars Masterwork, which, just to be truthful, it's an awesome product because they have the sketches that I've pulled out of that are insane. But I don't, I'm not even trying to promote that, even though it is a great product. But that's like the first time I did it. And it helped me to get back to this, like, equilibrium point where I took that little break and now I'm like, oh, wow, I can breathe again. Because I, in that meantime, I found ways to encapsulate some cards and put them into, you know, some organized fashion, be able to put them into my BCW holders and then also sell some of them at the same time. So I just say all this as a, if you need, like, if you're feeling that overwhelming feeling, because I talked to someone else, a couple other actually people who are deeply in the hobby who said something similar to this. It was a very similar point of, yeah, I just need a little bit of break. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. All right, so I'm just saying that as someone who's a host of a sports card and non sport card podcast whose life revolves around cards, it's okay to take a little break but, you know, still have fun with it. If you want to still tune in and get all the latest information about cards and still not buy anything, more power to you. In fact, I would 100 encourage it because that's kind of how we keep doing this job. So. But yeah, just, just a little psa, I guess. Alan has jumped in here. Alan, tell me what's up. Yeah, no, I, I, I wanted to kind of piggyback off that. And it dovetails into the, kind of. One of the news topics of the day is like most people get into cards because it takes them back to their childhood, right? We were all kids at one point and we just did it for the love of it. And I was actually just talking about that with a friend of mine today. You'd open a pack and you wanted to get that Kevin Moss card because it filled out your set with Dave justice. And back in the day when we were all into it and then it became a business and I think the generation Realizes that to your point, you guys are kind of living a dream job because it's like, hey, we're all nerds at heart. We're all going back to being kids, and we can make money off of this. I thought what was cool last night. I don't know if you caught. At the end of the game, Carl Anthony Towns was on inside the NBA, and Charles Barkley was asking him how he dealt with the pressure. And he said, you know what? It was actually the most relaxed I've ever been in the game. You would think being in the NBA Finals, he said, because I took myself back to when I was a kid and I was playing aau, and I looked up in the crowd and I saw my mom. And he's like, that was actually one of the more fun games I've ever played in my career. And it's the game I'm supposed to feel the pressure and everything around it. So I think resetting what you said, Jesse, and getting back to why we all kind of got into this in the first place is kind of, you know, almost reinvigorating into the, into the space because it, it, it brings out the joy in it all. So I think that's a really good piece of advice that Carl had. And then to your, to your point of what you were just talking about, I love the tie in. And thank you for that, Alan, because, yeah, I, I don't know. Summer is notoriously meant for little vacations here and there. Maybe not being as crazy busy as we were during the normal months of the year. What's normal months anymore? Even like, I mean, summer was what we relate to in school. We're off for that. But I mean, do people take that much time? Do you, Alan, do you take time off during the summer? Do you take vacations? Am I jaded and just thinking, like, everybody is like this, but in fact, everybody's just still working as hard as ever. I think it comes down to if you have kids, right? You just said it, right? We all have a finite amount of time with our kids. And what's interesting to me is because my kids are getting into this space, into the hobby space. It's almost like I'm looking at, hey, they got a week left to school. When they're out of school, can we go to card shows, right? Could we play golf? And balancing that, summer does revolve around completely around the kids, because we want to spend as much time with them as we can, because then they're going to be grown up and out of the House. So I think if you don't have kids, summer just becomes a seasonal change. But I think if you have a family that you want to try to take vacations, you want to spend as much time with them. Because I have a 13 year old son and he can't wait to spend time with me this summer. But once school starts again, it's peace out, dad. I'm too cool, right? So I think it all depends on your family situation, where you are in life. I couldn't agree more. Yeah, I think there's something to be said for getting back to a state of mind, whether it's because of cards or whether it's just because life is gotten overwhelming. I mean, Mike and I can relate to this personally. In our own lives, we've got a lot of stuff going on outside of the card world. And as we all know, Mike's been much more public about that recently just because of the passing of family members and things like that. So it's like, you know, I don't, I don't think anybody should feel like, oh, well, I am, I'm a member of this hobby and I have to constantly support it because they're. And that sounds like a funny thing to say, right? Like, who's gonna, who thinks that way? There's a lot of, like, really positive people out there that I've grown to really like and be friends with. And I think there are some who would be like, no, I need to do my part in this. And I think that is commendable, especially since we're all trying to grow a hobby that we, we all really appreciate. But at the same time, there's gotta be time for family and friends and relaxation and not having to focus constantly on the next product release, the next sale of my card, all that stuff. So. So this is a sports boy PSA to say chillax and enjoy your summer. All right. As the opening of summer, that's your message. And Doug, Doug said it best in the interview, by the way. Great interview with Doug earlier where he said the up and comers are afraid sometimes to ask questions when they get into the hobby. And if you're a veteran, if you can help them and mentor them, all ships rise. Right? So if you're helping somebody new into the hobby, then it helps grow the hobby. And yeah, because we're all intimidated to ask questions sometimes. If you're not aware, I'll be the first to, you know, ask you guys questions about the space. I know my background, where I come from, but I think it's it's really cool when veterans like yourself help people who are just getting into the space for sure. Well, it's much appreciated, Alan. And that's the thing. If you are new to this show, if you're new to the hobby, then hopefully you're not to that point yet, because if you're already to the point where you're stressed out about it, that's not a fun hobby. With the conclusion of all the words that I just spoke, I do want to throw out there that if you are in the market for a little fun, I think there are things like Arena Club, there's things like some of the sponsors of our show are specifically meant for fun. Arena Club, being a partner of ours, I like to go out there because it's simply a fun thing for me. I can go out there and pull a few packs and be excited and, or disappointed, depending on what I pull. But overall, I am having a great time knowing that I didn't break the bank. But at the same time, maybe I hit a big card or maybe I just had a PC card that I wanted anyway. So if you were checking out Arena Club, I would highly encourage you, especially if it's the first time. Use the code SCN with the discount code, you get 20% off your first purchase. It's definitely something. I think if you, if you are somebody who loves to just rip cards and, or have a graded card already. I don't know. Like, I, if you guys are thinking like PSA being shut down increases graded card values, it may not be a bad time to like, start looking into ways of getting cards because someone was just saying to me the other day that they went to a show this last weekend and they were finding it already a little bit more difficult to find some graded cards because either people were holding them back and, or they'd already sold a lot of them. I don't, I'm very curious to see where the market goes over the next few months with PSA being on pause. I, I don't know how, how it's going to react because this is. We're only in a few days, right? Like, they. PSA just shut down two days ago. I, I do think that there's a lot of room for speculation and my thinking personally is we see maybe some of these card values going up if it's a graded card, especially if it's a 10. But that's, that's, that's all I have to say on that. We'll go ahead and wrap up the show next Monday. Gary Vee is going to be joining us. It'll be a fun show. Mike and I will be back in the studio together. We're not going to talk just about Veefriends. There will be a little conversation about that because the Veefriends Chrome product comes out next week and it's already, there's already bounties out there for like 100k, I think, for some, at least one of the cards. So pretty nuts. But we're also going to talk a little bit about the Knicks being that Gary Vee is going to be joining us. So we'll talk about that in some other sport related topics. So hopefully you can join for Monday's episode. Until then, I hope you guys have a great weekend. And wishing everybody the best. And this has been your boy, Sportsboy. Goodbye, Sam.
