Happy 4th Of July! Pop Cards Special

So let's get started. And we are going to travel way back into vintage cards. This time we are going all the way back to 1880 tobacco cards. Set number N346 is called between the Axe and Bravo. It is a cigarette card, a tobacco card of all kinds of historic Americans. And what you see if you're watching on YouTube is a comparison of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington from this set. And the way I like to explain it, no matter what historic set you are looking at, Abraham Lincoln seems to be Michael Jordan. George Washington seems to be Steph Curry. Maybe LeBron James in most of those sets, but Abraham Lincoln's the goat. The Michael Jordan is what I call him of most of these historic pop card sets. But let's look at 1880. We got Abraham Lincoln. And I had to go all the way back to November of 25th to see a recent card sale. And Abraham Lincoln in this set sold for almost 9,000. Actually sold for $9,211 compared to George Washington a few months earlier sold for about $5200 out of the same set. Both PSA4 graded cards. But what awesome specimens. What a cool set of historic presidents in this set. You know, take a look at eight years later, another tobacco card company. It's the N76 1888 Duke Sons and Co. Great Americans set. And one of the highest selling cards out of there wasn't Lincoln or Washington. It was, it was one of the other founding fathers of our country, Benjamin Franklin. Now imagine a 1888 card graded at PSA 6. Amazing, right? Sold on February 21st of this year for almost just shy. We're talking a penny shy of $5,000. But you know, in true Ben Franklin way, a penny saved is a penny earned. So no kidding, that didn't go over $5,000 because somebody wanted to save that penny for the future. But pretty great sale, pretty great grade on that in comparison. In that 1888 Duke Sons and Company set, Abraham Lincoln sold last year, July 4th in 2025. What a bad day to buy historic if you ask me. But on July 4th, Abraham Lincoln sold for $3850 for an, for a PSA4. Duke Sons 1888 George Washington PSA3 sold for 2500. So we're pretty close in those sales. But again, Abraham Lincoln outsold George Washington. Now let's fast forward historically, jump in our time machine. We're going to 1930, a set called R129American History Series. Now, pretty cool in this series. It's is that the artwork's very primitive. And it's not only presidents and things like that. It's people throughout history. But there's some really cool cards, particularly the presidents. You look at this primitive if you see on YouTube George Washington versus Abraham Lincoln. A PSA 3 of George Washington sold January of this year for $345. So you can get some pretty nice cards at a lot lower cost than what we saw those tobacco cards earlier because those are way older. But you could get some pretty nice cards for under 350 bucks in here. George Washington sold again, 345. Abraham Lincoln, a 1.5 PSA graded sold for 295. Not too far behind. Less than $50 behind George Washington. So again, the goat, Abraham Lincoln really holds its own sales. Let's fast forward time machine in American history. We go to 1952. That's right, the famous 1952 Mickey Mantle released that year. But Topps released another set called look and See. And this had 135 cards, not only American presidents, but historic cards of world history. So I think Julius Caesar was in here, Shakespeare was in here, but there were plenty of presidents. There were pretty plenty of American west heroes. There were three women heroes in U.S. history. You had Eleanor Roosevelt, Joan of Arc, who was in American history, but you also had, I believe Amelia Earhart in this set. Three US women in the set. And you know, the whole set sold way at the end of 2025, December 7, 2025, it sold for $18,500, it looks like on auction, but 18,005. Now careful. I want you to do your research if looking at any of these historic cards because what's happening is I'm seeing a dip in sales on these. This same set, this 1952 tops look and see set sold for $40,000 a few years earlier and now is selling for $18,500. So there is a dip. Do your research on card ladder ebay, pass sales. Just be careful as you're looking at these. But if you like, you know, non sports pop cards like I do, this stuff really gets you going. Now 1952 Topps look and see Abraham Lincoln sold for $500 and a PSA7. Now that's a crisp grade on a card that old. Likewise, PSA 7A George Washington 195. So you can kind of see my theory is playing out. Abraham Lincoln's the goats in these historic things. And those would be my chase cards. All right, fast forward four years, 1956 tops. US President. It's a set of 36 cards. Complete set sold on January 31st of this year Heritage Auction for $3,782. So you could get a complete set nicely graded of these historic president cards on auction. Let's take a look at them side by side. June 28th of 26. That's just a few days ago. 1956 George Washington PSA 7 sold for $109. A PSA 7 of Abraham Lincoln sold in May for 7877. Now somebody may have nabbed a great deal on Lincoln there, but in this case undersold to George Washington. I'd still stick with Lincoln as the chase. Fast forward 1970. One of my favorite sets. You see Joe Cool on my T shirt. I love Snoopy and Millsbrook Bakery did Snoopy for President stickers and you can find them out there graded. These are super fun. You can get these cards for anywhere from $40 to $25. The two cards you see here on the screen if you're watching on eBay, SGC 8 of Snoopy for President sold for 37. On March 27th of this year, a PS SGC 6 from that set also sold for, if my memory serves me right, about $25 out of that same set for under $40. You can get all kinds of cards from this Snoopy for President set released in 1970. Very cool. Here's a couple other examples. 39 for one that sold on May 20th of 25 as well as one that sold in January 26th. SGC 6 for $25. So you can get all kinds of fun Snoopy for President cards for very. Now let's fast forward in our Time Machine Topps Chrome WWE Cody Rhodes the American Nightmare. What can say America more than that? Let's take a look 2025 Topps Chrome Cody Rhodes Autograph out of 50. A gold auto out of 50 recently sold April 20, 2026 for $1500. And that wasn't just any old autograph. That was the inscribed quote story finished autograph by the American Nightmare himself. Awesome card sold for 1500. But if you want to go heavy heavy into all American Cody Rhodes cards, take a look at the 2026 tops chrome WWE garbage pale kids short print out of 10. And that thing sold for $2,200 on April 12th of 2026. Has the garbage pail sketch of Cody Rhodes super cool card outsold his inscribed auto. Believe in the same month. And let's jump to the final slab. What says America more than Captain America? And let's take a look at my final slab breakdown. Captain America 2024 tops Chrome Marvel Super Fractor 1 of 1 Captain America sold for 31 $720 on Heritage Auction on February 1st of 2025. What a crazy cool card. And that was a PSA 10. Likewise the year later, the 2025 version of Topps Chrome Marvel. We got a facsimile autograph. We're not talking the actor or anybody. We got a Captain America facsimile autograph. One of one Super Fracture PSA Gem Mint 10 that sold for 21,950. You're talking about $10,000 less than the actual release of the 2024 Topps Chrome Marvel Super Fractor. But still a steep price tag for Captain America $21,960 on September 6th of 2025. Let's end it here with Captain America, the most American of all cards dropped, I'd say.
