Match days deserve peps. All right, guys, we're back. Sports cards nonsense. Kind of a Monday edition. We had like a Monday half show. I had to bail on Jesse last minute. I have not. I know he picked up the slack. I was told there was a another creep Bostonian on the podcast in my place. I listened to a couple minutes of it. I yeah, it was freaking Jesse. This stems from Tech Mike. I don't know if he introduced it as that. This is the reason AI is going to take over the world. Just so we're all clear, I'm gonna talk about the national card show and a couple of my big pickup spy sells all that stuff because we have two massive trades. But just to be clear, AI is taking over the world and Tech Mike is Friar. I had to totally uninstall reinstall obs after the Saturday night disaster on Fanax Live. I bought new cables and USB Cs and USB and all this other bull crap. Literally went absolutely nuts to get the live stream going on the Sunday night show on ebay live. And it worked perfectly. So that is the message of the show. AI is going to rule over us with all impunity and it could do anything. So Tech Mike, boom, roasted. There you go. Real quick. We're doing a few minutes and Jesse's got a few minutes of this. His nonsense with the AI I don't even think it was Tech Mike. I think it's just AI Mike, but that's fine. There's no way he got the Boston accent right, but no big deal. And I Think him and Alan closed out with soccer talk too. So you got a kind of a full show, just all segmented up. So we had the Nashville card show this weekend. We were there. I was set up there all day. Friday and Saturday. Did not go Sunday. Sunday's a family day. Hung with the kid. That's actually not true. I had a ton of work to do, so it wasn't even family day. But didn't go to the card show. Couple of takeaways. And let me just preface it with this. It was not the greatest, most unbelievable, busiest. You know, every card show, I feel like we say that it was a great show hands down. I set this one up a little bit differently. So I had my showcase out on the table and what I did is the whole top row was all PC stuff. This is only stuff I'm moving for other PC cards, I bought five or ten big Brady's, the Birds, a couple of Bill Russell cards. Had two other showcases me and Eddie. Eddie set up with me. Just stuff to sell. Couple things were very evident right off the bat. Number one, the amount of people who just came and were ready to buy on Friday morning was, was a little bit more than normal. A lot of times on Friday morning you guys will come in, hey, I like this card, but it's Friday. I'm going to kind of pace myself. Let me bookmark where the table is, you know, what row are you in? I'll come back and see you later today or tomorrow, whatever. Friday morning, guys came in with cash ready to spend and the price points were as with any show. And the only thing that was different about the setup this time, as opposed to last time, I had no dollar boxes, nothing cheap. I had a two row box of five to 50 slabs. Aside from maybe three cards that entire box sold that day. Guys would buy 1, 2, 10, whatever that entire box went. Moved a couple big cards and moved a triple auto of Brady, Peyton Manning and Ladanian Tomlinson for like 4, 500 cash. That was gone. So, so awesome day. In terms of selling right from the booth. In terms of buying, Friday was unbelievably slow. I was actually super disappointed because as much as I like to go and sell, really the big motivation for me at the show is now I need inventory for ebay, right? Like we're doing a ton of live shows now. You really just need to get product. And almost nobody was selling stuff. At least not walking up to the table selling. And it's a Friday, so vendors weren't really cutting deals. So I, I Maybe spent a thousand dollars throughout the entirety of Friday buying stuff to resell. Saturday though was unbelievable. Oh, and Friday by the way, I totally forgot biggest moment of the day for me on Friday I brought my Brady 8.5 BGS 8510 contenders rookie auto. That's a 100A PC card. I bought that at the national last year. So literally just one year ago for 20 grand. And a little bit of that was in trade. I think it was 18 cash 2 in trade or something. Maybe it was even 15 and 5. But $20,000 total. I to double check on my card ladder app. I, I, I'm still doing the collection thing. I actually updated it each day as we went. I was able to take that and trade it for a BGS910 contenders. Now some guys hear that it's a 0.5 bump. Who cares? The world cares, the market cares. It's a $20,000 price discrepancy and the guy was actually super easy to deal with. So I gave him mine which had a little bit of a higher sub had 110sub I traded for the 910 so again mine was worth about 35, his worth about 55. I gave him mine and 20000 cash. But then we were super close at the end couldn't the guy was kind of fighting back and forth 1820, 1820 ended up getting a Reggie Wayne, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss triple immaculate auto back which is about a thousand dollar card. So I felt really good. So I got so now all things told, I got 39000 into this new card into the 910. So I was pumped like anytime I can upgrade a Brady, that is the only reason I bring it. And I've learned like you have to stand fast because I've done this in the past where I'm like oh, I'm only bringing these cards to trade and then I'll sell 1. Because PC stuff, the majority of my PC is stuff that's pretty hard. Not even just crazy high end but just hard to find. So it always attracts attention. In the past I've done this and then I'll, I'll weaken and somebody will be like oh, I'll pay you X amount. Okay, I'll sell it because it's top dollar. And I immediately regret. So this time I really did. I stuck to my guns. I'm not selling a PC card. I will only upgrade. And so that was a huge success for me on Friday. I was pumped. Now Saturday, talk about the tale of two cities. I Sold maybe five cards the entire day. But I bought like an absolute maniac. I filled up again on a standard two row box that holds graded cards. I filled up probably a row and a half between raw and graded. 90 of that was guys come for guys coming to the table. Hey, spent a bunch of money yesterday. I'm looking to buy some more so I've got to sell some stuff to recoup. Bought anything and everything. I mean I'm talking from. Bought a super nice Derek Jeter gold framed auto. We bought some, some Dwayne Wade stuff. A couple kids came up and just bought some super cheap three to ten dollar patches. Had a guy come up with a ton of prospect stuff, pro debut, you know, Connor Griffin, Jesus Mad a stuff like that again just kind of all the top tier type of names. It'll be easy to sell on the ebay live stream. So that was cool. And then Saturday afternoon I did get to walk around and actually just go from table to table just trying to buy. And even by Saturday afternoon guys were ready to make some deals and so I had, I had two other cars on my mind. I've still am hunting and didn't see a single one. The Bob your rookie autograph PSA slab version. Didn't. Didn't see one. I don't think there was one in that entire building. And then I was trying to upgrade my Larry Bird MJ Dr. J Triple Auto. Mine is graded authentic with a 10 auto. It's probably a 4 or 5 card grade. I was trying to upgrade to a 6 or a 7 but I saw one 6 and the guy just wasn't selling. He was, he had literally brought it to do the same thing to add more. So after that I spent a couple hours doing that. Finally I was like, you know what, I had dad with me. I was like hey, forget that. We're not, we're not finding those cards. I want to focus now on Drake May. I actually had four guys, Drake May, Skiings, Jaden Daniels and Giannis. Different reasoning for all three. The Drake May experiment I think is going to take some time. They have a crazy difficult schedule. His pricing has come down so hard after the super bowl atrocity and he was bad the whole playoff run quite frankly. Even though the play their schedule is really hard. I think there's upside for Drake May and I like kind of having a vested interest in a team I'm rooting for. I bought at least I'd say 8 to 10 Drake May slabs. Just buy him sit on those again. That's probably not doing anything until September. I don't think there's anything that's going to happen in the preseason at this point. He's got A.J. brown. That didn't move the needle in the hobby. I think it's going to move the needle on the field. But a bunch of Drake May stuff. I bought a bunch of just cheap Paul Skeen slabs. Like all. I got a lot of PSA10s from 50 to 120 bucks. Again paying like 80 to 90% perfect like skiings is still awesome. Despite the fact that Jacob Mizarowski, who by the way was the most asked about player the entire weekend for me at the table. Not Otani, not Wemby, not Skiings, not Trout, not Brady. Jacob Misarowski, who is on fire right now. Anything Missourowski sold immediately. Eddie sold the black anime card for I think 45 or 4, 800 cash. Misarowski stuff was flying. Having said that, Skein still has unbelievable appeal, quite frankly. I feel like despite the fact he's playing well, the hype is a little bit quiet right now just because it's again, he's in Pittsburgh and we're focused on everybody else. I think there's potential upside with Skeins and he's super liquid. Easy move. So I found a bunch of his stuff, found just a couple cheap jadens. He was. He was tough to buy and then, man, Giannis was tough. I am under the assumption that. And I haven't even paid attention. I've been out all day. So I don't think he got traded yet. Shams was talking about today though on espn. He's going to be traded before the end of the draft tomorrow. And it looks like Boston and Miami are the two front runners. I mean, again, if he goes to the Celtics, I think that's your favorite in the east immediately. And so I did. I just thought, hey, if I can find some Yana stuff to sit on. Matter of fact, I believe in Yana so much I pulled his stuff for my Sunday night show. I had a rookie auto. I just pulled it. I was like, nope, I'm holding it because I think if he gets moved to a contender like Boston, his market's going to explode. However, the hype had already been surpassed by people's pricing. There is already at least the guys and I talked to probably only five or six dealers. It wasn't a huge thing. Everybody with Yanis stuff though was like, nope, I'm higher than the last comp by quite a bit because I think he's getting moved. So I'm not even sure if there's a play on Giannis. If you can find stuff at last month's comps, I think it's a great buy. If you have stuff you want to sell before he gets traded, reach out to me. I'll buy it. But he was tough to find. But I was excited about the Drake Maze stuff. The other one really, really quick Saturday morning as we're setting up, I think it was like 8:30. I wasn't even planning to sell this card. And it's PC, but it's not PC like forever PC stuff. There's levels to this crap, right? Like the Brady contenders. I wasn't moving no matter what. I had a Ken Griffey Jr 1999 Bowman Chrome Refractor though PSA 10. I paid 450 last April, a year ago April, the car ladder value on Saturday morning was 3200. So I had a guy give me, and this is before the show even opened, a Tom Brady 2008 in person auto PSA 10. About 1800-2000 bucks. Bill Russell rookie reprint. But in person autograph, silver ink psa authenticated. Probably five, six hundred bucks and then $1,000 cash. Again that's kind of a PC card. But the value was so stupid high. I just thought, you know what? This is not the crazy rarest refractor or anything like that. Move that right away too. So to make big trades like that though, it just showed you the willingness people had to be active, which I thought was really, really cool. So that was very. That was just awesome. Just the other quick update too. We had an awesome show Sunday night. We finally started breaking in the new studio that we just built out. So Chris Thomas, Attaboy Cards. Who was on the pod last week? His did his Friday night show. Absolutely killed it. It was awesome. He averaged probably 120 people in the room all night. We had a bunch of guys hanging out. It was a lot of fun. Saturday night we did Fanatics Live and we went to Sheps in person. And for whatever reason, I don't know if it was the Internet, the computer stream literally just wouldn't start. It was brutal. It was super pixelated. Absolutely unwatchable. So we did nothing that whole night, which was just miserable. And then Sunday night. So just last night I did my big single show on ebay live sold the Willie Mays Rookie. So it was a 1952 Tops PSA5 sold for 119. It was a tiny bit. The comps recently are like 11:2 to 11:5. Everything else crushed. And again, it was kind of a gimmicky night. We did a Mantle game use patch every seven minutes because he wore the stupid number seven in New York. Those things absolutely crushed. We had some nice modern stuff too. JRod dynasty, Cal Ripkin dynasty. We had some tro ton of cool stuff. We end up doing just about 36,000 bucks in two hours. It was freaking awesome. We got a little extra promotion I think too because we were averaging about 175 people, but it was absolutely amazing. So. But yeah, the highlight of the weekend, I'll be honest with you, was chat GPT. The fact that I sat at my desk in the new office for an hour and replaced cables and settings and cleared cache A cache, whatever the freaking bar is on the top of the screen. Had to uninstall apps and check crash history logs for observation. AI's taking over the world. That is the theme of the show. I've also been told, and I can honestly say I've listened to about two minutes. Jesse boy, who recorded earlier today because I was with Papa Geo taking care of some legal matters, thought it would be cute to try to get AI to impersonate me. Apparently AI can't do everything. The Boston accent I heard for about 30 seconds, atrocious. The humor sucks. AI not funny at all. And the timing, I don't understand the timing. It took like three seconds in between every time Jesse said something to the guy. So yeah, that was it. That's my little solo open to the show now. You got Jesse and this loser fake AI bot wannabe Boston Mike character amongst other things. So there you go. You can listen to those guys now. Thanks for hanging out. We'll talk cards like we're down by Fenway park, but don't think that's going to make me any easier on you. This is classic Mike. Mike, you are such a goofball, and I appreciate you giving me a little bit of a hard time. That is just us here on sports cards. Nonsense. We love to have a hard time with old Boston Mike over there. So we're going to talk a little bit about what's going on in the news in the sports card world. I don't know if you guys saw Mike Trout out with an injury. Mike, did you see that? Of course I sigh. What, you think I live under a rock? Trout's out. You can bet his card values are going to take a hit, just like your fantasy team if you've got him offensive. But that's fair. It's. I mean, hey, if you've got. Not only a fantasy team, if you're holding Trout's cards, are we in a position where it's time to just give up on that fantasy of him becoming the guy? Right. Like, I think we can. I think that is a dead fantasy. But it's still like, oh, well, he could still be a guy. Like, it's still. He is cemented. Has he cemented himself in the legacy of many people where he could be, like, a collectible for generations to come? I don't know. I. Mike, what are your. What are your thoughts? Look, Trout's got a legacy. No one's denying that. But if you're still dreaming, he's going to carry your collection to the moon. Let's come back to reality. He'll always be collectible, but if you're holding out for some MVP level spike, that ship sailed, buddy. Yeah, it feels like he's gotten injured quite a bit. Like, how many times do you think he's been injured over the last. Call it. Three years. Oh, more times than I can count on one hand, that's for sure. At this point, it's like a yearly tradition. Trout's out and we all just shrug. Knowing the drill. I'm not going to lie. That, that, that was good. That was a good little quip. Hurt my feelings just a little bit. I feel like I'm, I'm, I'm right there with my buddy Mike. This is great. So some more things that have come out over the last few days. We did get an announcement. I think it came out this morning on a few or over the weekend. Probably Fanax Live was the breaking platform or is it's still kind of like up in the air when all of this officially goes onto one app. But there is going to be a merger is my understanding of Fanatics Live. Fanatics collects the auction platform, but with all of these things merging into one place, they also have what's called collect Originals. So there's going to be media content on the app where you've got Chris Costa talking with athletes and celebrities about their personal collections. You've got Keeping up with the Cards, which I'm not going to lie, I'm a fan of. I like that name. That's a good one. But it's like Keeping up with the Cards Capital K, similar to Kardashian. In this case we're talking about King of Cards, which is also spelled with a K. So that's gonna be pretty cool. You've got King Cards doing his own live on stream negotiations with fans. That's. I think that'll be entertaining. A few other shows. Talking about TCGs. Can't help but notice I didn't get any call for any non sports stuff. Whatever. Doesn't hurt my feelings. Mojo Sports is gonna do a show about like for the love of the hobby again, that's storytelling, community, live interactions with fans, things like that. And then you're also going to have like a WWE show, a number of shows. All of them are going to start happening in the next week. I think Wednesdays is going to be the Chris Costa show. Mondays you'll have King of Cards Mojo Sports on there. I don't know. I'm very curious to see how this goes again. If I'm not on the platform, I cannot 100% endorse it, but I can at least let you guys know it's out there and there's gonna be entertainment based shows on that app, all having to do with cards in some manner. So we'll see, we'll see how that, that goes. I believe it's like a three month thing, is how they've kind of signed everybody up. So if it, if it's successful and it continues to be something that people want to check out. It'll go on. I guess they'll sign everybody up for longer contracts. But for for now, initially, we can expect probably three months of this and go from there. Well, look at that. Sounds like the hobby's turning into a reality show. I mean, if it works, great. If it flops, I'll let you say I told you so while you're still waiting for your invite. I'm not going to lie. I'm enjoying this. I'm enjoying. I hope the. Hope the listener is still listening. Series two has maintained value. I was just looking at Dealer net right before this. Most people who are buying, I mean it's not like a crazy hot product, but it's also not dead either. There seems to be enough where there's buying and selling actively happening at this moment. I will also say there's some other Chrome products that we can just throw out there in the mix. Marvel chrome comes out July 1st. That this is my opinion as someone who's probably a Disney fan. First of the big IPs that Thomps makes non sport cards for Disney is probably the biggest just because of the return on investment and popularity of it. Then for me I would probably go Star wars cards. But I think for the majority they probably there's a lot of people who probably like the Marvel IP just as much if not more than Star Wars. But the cards, since they're still so relatively new, at least under Topps regime, I'm not exactly sure what the demand will look like. However, I can personally say while Disney Chrome has, I've got some personal feelings on that. It's really good in a lot of ways. There's some things I wish that they didn't do or would be a little different, but we'll talk about that on the Hobby Nonsense podcast this week. But for Marvel that comes out July 1, that is going to be really cool in my opinion because of the Reflections cards that they've already shown, have shown leaps and bounds as far as like some of the artwork and the styles. I haven't talked to a single person who didn't love those. But then you also have the art in them. Just base cards, just base card art looks far and away the best in my opinion of all of the previous Marvel sets that have come out. And that's kind of been a complaint, you know, there, there have been some good ones, but a lot of people will have a complaint here and there about at least, you know, I don't want to say a majority of the characters, but they, they would probably say, oh, I wish this art was different in some way or fashion. And after seeing what they've already pre release shown us, I think this set is going to be one of the better ones. So another Chrome product coming. And I think a lot of this kind of leads me to the reason why we're seeing so much Chrome at once. This is no accident. Like, I think we can finally like put that to bed of like, oh, you know, Mike and I are always like, hey tops, why are you doing this? Why are you putting so many products out back to back? It's no accident. I think this is. Kids are out of school, kids are able to go out and go to card shops during the week. They can go with their parents and there's people on vacations visiting shops and people are out of work because it's vacation time or they're out of school and they are spending more money and it's like, okay, well this is the time where a lot of these families and card collectors are going to have maybe a little extra income and time. So that's why we're seeing all of these both non sports and sports releases coming. So like the big, some big releases coming out so close to each other. And I don't know, I've got my own personal feelings because I do think it kind of cannibalizes each other at times and people run out of money, especially some of the bigger hardcore collectors. So yeah, I am curious how we, if we continue to do this if they've proven like, oh, this is the model we're going to follow. But yeah, in my personal opinion, it's, it's a lot for a very little amount of time. What, what are your thoughts, Mike? Well, I'm not here to break your heart, but yeah, they know what they're doing summers, the cash grab window, cards hitting all at once, hoping collectors can't resist. But you're right, wallets aren't infinite. At some point they're going to squeeze too hard and people will just walk away if they haven't already. Wow. You didn't insult me at the end of that. I'm kind of surprised. Oh, don't get used to it. I just figured I'd give you one break before I remind you that you'll probably be the first to overspend on all these sets. Just keeping it balanced. Thank you Mike. You're doing so good. We also got some other Fanatics based announcements. I feel like we're. I'm not trying to make this a tops fanatic show, Mike and I don't try to do that. It's just that's where all the news is coming from. Right? Like we're just seeing so much coming out of them and just so it's very quiet with Panini these days. Upper Deck has a few things especially some, some bigger hockey products coming out. But since we're not as familiar with some of those, we, we leave a lot of that to nonsense on ice to, to cover. But that all being said, the show, the Fanatics Fest show that is coming up here in mid July, this is shaping up to be one of the coolest, best shows. Like not just like a card show, but a sports show, an entertainment show. They have so many big names coming out to it. But just like the last couple years before this, they are also going to include some releases, product releases that are unique to the show. That includes a new Fanatics Fest edition of Top Series two. So those who are like, hey, I'm going to be getting Chrome on July 10th when it releases. Just keep in mind if you need to put a little money aside, if you guys were interested in last year's the top Series 2 Fanatics Fest exclusive, they've got, you know, it's New York skylines in the background, a lot of just New York based inspiration on the cards. But those cards were selling at a premium. Those Boxes, all that stuff was selling at a premium. It says retail price is at $300. So aftermarket pricing is going to be what, like 506, maybe more. So. Very curious to see how that goes. But it is right around the same time that the Chrome, baseball chrome is going to be coming out. And it's a very similar, if not the exact same market. So something to be aware of for sure. Mike, do you know of any other releases coming out in the next couple weeks? Oh, I've got my eye on them. Mid July is also bringing the new WWE products. And let's not forget Topps museum collection for baseball around that same time. So if you're feeling rich or foolish, there's plenty coming to lighten your wallet. Just like the real Mike, you silly goof. I do not see our market slowing down at all. Mike. I talked to him briefly about the Nashville card show. Apparently it was a huge success. I know a lot of people went there just as, like, peruse what's going on where they've got. And all the reports I'm hearing is like, oh, there was just a ton of people. There was lines to get in. There were tons of transacting. I know Mike posted up a few of the transactions that he did, but yeah, there's. We're not. I guess I just expected we were going to see a slowdown in the hobby at this point. We haven't seen a slowdown as of yet. In fact, if you go to like, the card ladder indexes and just like sales reports, it's almost a little scary. It's literally like, it puts a little bit of fear in me because you look at the graphs and they're just going up and up. And granted, it's not like that spike up like we saw in January, February of 2021, but it is still very much an upward trajectory. And I'm just waiting. You know, we've said this 100 times. Everybody is saying this at this point. Hey, it can't keep going up forever, right? Like, it's. There's got to be a point where there's a pullback or something that. That's where I think I get, like, just a little nervous. I don't know about you guys, if you guys are even aware or thinking about it at all. And you're just kind of living more in the moment, which I appreciate. And I try to do as much as I. Looking at like, you know, monthly dashboard on card ladder and daily sales recaps, it's. It's like we're setting new records every week. A number of the collectibles that I'm into, like the. The Disney Chrome from 2023 and a few other, like Lorcana and stuff like that. These things are setting new records, sometimes daily, if not weekly. It is a. It's a great thing for those who are already collecting or who have it. But it also just makes me wonder, like, okay, well, do we have a lot more time? Like, do I have a lot of time to still buy at these higher prices and then go back and sell in the next few weeks or month or two months? Or do I need to be prepared? Like, okay, well, if I'm buying this, I need to be mentally prepared to hold this at least six months, a year, maybe longer. If we were to see a downturn and then have to wait for it to come back. When we saw the correction after 2021, you know, 21, 21 to 22, like, the market was still good, but like 23 into 24, we obviously saw the market slow down. It was not doing quite as hot. A lot of things came back down to Earth. But then 24 into 25, we just saw the market start creeping back up again. So there was about year and a half, two years or so where we were experiencing maybe more, not every card right. Some things still went up, some things were still very hot. But we still, overall, the market experienced a correction during that time. And if you guys are out there doing, you know, the buying flip game, you know, real short term, I think you're probably going to be okay because you probably don't have a ton tied up. But if there's more who are like, I'm going to buy this now and see where we're at six months from now. I don't know, it makes me that those are the ones where I feel like I'm probably a little bit more cautious, those kinds of buying in hopes of a return on my investment. So, yeah, I don't know. I'm pretty hopeful about it, but at the same time, I'm optimistically cautious, I think is the correct terminology. Speaking of sports and stories, Alan went to the. Was it the US Australia game a few days ago? Is this right, Alan? Yeah. Friday night I was up in Seattle, more than honored to be there, and it was insane. I'll tell you, Jesse, the crowd was unlike anything I've ever heard for a sporting event, let alone a US Sporting event. And it was just really cool to see the patriotism in the crowd for an event that big. Are you like, at this point, a bigger believer in soccer than you were. Like, I don't know how big of a soccer collector or not collector, but just a soccer fan that you are. You know, I, I buy into the hype every four years, like a lot of people do. I was, I was at the World cup of 2010 in South Africa and Landon Donovan scores the winning goal. Everybody thinks this is going to become a soccer country short, a small spike. Of course, that was right around the time when a couple of years after Beckham got here, and it was like, all right, that's, that's the hype. And as you know, as an American sports fan, it didn't really leap off the page after that. Four years later, same thing. I was at the World cup in Rio, covering that in Brazil. Thought the World cup would become the fourth biggest sport in America. Did not take off then. I will say that the progression has gotten better. Obviously, us, you know, missing a cup in between there. But, you know, I feel like in the moment, America buys into whatever the biggest thing is, right? And right now the biggest thing in this country is, is World cup soccer. And as we speak, Lionel Messi just scored another World cup goal. Did he really? That makes it, that makes him the all time goal scorer in World cup history. Which is. That in itself is huge. But, but that's a perfect example because they're playing right now. It's, you know, people on the West coast, it's 10:50 in the morning and the game's being played in Jerry's World in Dallas. And it's a huge event, right? I mean, every person I know who is not even a diehard soccer fan is texting each other right now, say, hey, did you see Messi just scored again? So I think the hype is there. You touched on something earlier about, like, young kids and being on break and, and getting into the hobby. I have two sons, 11 and 13. We went to a card show last weekend and it ties it all together. They literally had their allowance, right? A little bit of money that they were allowed to spend. And the biggest thing they wanted was to look for soccer cards, right? That wouldn't have happened a year ago, right? They would have gone to a card show. I want a Wendy. I want this, I want that. But you know, my older ones, like, can I get a Messi card? Can I get an Erling Holland card? So I was shocked to see that, that at a regular card show in Los Angeles, the LA card show, they were seeking out soccer cards. So I think that's Changing the narrative a little bit that people see that these global stars can actually transcend America. That is really cool. It's interesting to know just that your kids are going after soccer cards right now. But you also pointed out how there was the thought that, hey, back a few years ago, you know, Beckham, comes other World Cups. There have been many opportunities where I think a lot of people have said, oh, this is when we see soccer finally take off here in the States. And obviously we're still in the phase of that not happening, right? Like, we're still in the phase of, hey, we're. We have interest that gets built up, but then it dies down. So, yeah, does the interest stay? That is where I think the only way we'll be able to say with more confidence than, hey, let's wait and see, is what are the events planned after the World Cup? You know, like what. What keeps soccer in the forefront of a lot of people's minds going forward? Because it, I think, inevitably will die down and it will go back to a similar situation unless we see big marketing spins, big events, something that keeps that sport and the culture around it forefront in the eyes of the people in the States. Because outside of the States, obviously, it's. It's huge, right? It's the biggest sport in the world. But within the States, where, again, there's a lot of money spent, there's a lot of. Especially when it comes to cards, there's a lot going on in the card world. How do we continue that popularity without it being something like, oh, their friends are talking about at school, or your fellow card collectors are excited to go to the event, the game, whatever it may be, where they can talk about their cards more. So that's my feeling. Well, and I think you touched on earlier, it's the overall trend in general, right? Will the bubble burst on the, on the collectible space? And I think with two things that have changed from the last couple of World Cups, right? These. And. And it goes down to even video games, right? Kids, this generation, American kids, play FIFA and therefore they learn the players through the video game, right? But there's two. Two other factors I think really matter. One being social media, right? When, when the US was going to take that proverbial jump in 2010, the Internet was in its infancy. So you couldn't just go on somebody's social media page and learn about the player and be involved. There also wasn't ways to watch the Premier League. The Premier League now, which is, you know, very digestible for an American sports Fan. It's were trained that way. Anyway, it's a Sunday morning, you can watch the games. So and then the last part is the collectibles. Right. If you have skin in the game, if my, if my son is going to collect a Holland card or a Messi card or an Mbappe card, I think now he's going to be interested to see when they go back to their respective teams how they do Right. So I think the collectibles, you know, the three things collectible social media and video games will continue to keep American kids interested in. But it still comes back to the core. Right. You have you know, an hour to kill with your friends. You want to go outside. Are you grabbing your basketball, your football or your soccer ball? Yeah, most kids are not grabbing the soccer ball and it starts at the grassroots of where they play the game. No, I think that's solid, solid advice and a take that I think most would agree with. I, I'm looking up like 2014 prism World Cup Lionel Messi cards. They were, I think the last couple were selling for 410, 436. They had had a couple spikes but that's where the last few as PSA tens. That's where the last few had landed up until the yesterday. Now I go out to ebay and for the majority I'm seeing 4,440at the lowest but it's still got like $10 delivery and it's coming from China which I don't know if you guys have noticed this. I feel like orders from China typically are a little bit less like they, they the pricing is just slightly less than a lot of other ones. I'm wondering if that's just like they have to do that in order to sell because there's maybe a little questioning of the authenticity. That's a different conversation. Going back to the cards though after that though after those ones in China, there's only one that is in the states that's 450. Everything else is 500 and above. Like as far as buy it now, go for that card. And I'm wondering how updated those pricings are given that Lionel Messi just became what you said it was, the all time score for the World Cup. All time high score. Yeah. Most goals in the World cup total career. I'll double check that. But yeah, well and I know like he had that hat trick. He's more than. So does that make four goals then he had the hat trick and then this one scored four goals. He scored four goals in about a World Cup. No, another at halftime. He scored four goals in a World cup and a half game. That's crazy. They're guys who go their entire career. Yeah. Who don't do that. And he's got it in a game and a half so far. Well that's honestly it's got me now looking at Lionel Messi cards as well. I know Mike bought one. There's a PSA nine out there. I was kind of the PSA nines at $90 right now guys, I'm telling you depending on how much longer PSA stays closed it we're still in that phase where I think a lot of people either are not used to it yet or they just think oh well there's still plenty of stuff out there. I think there's, I think nines are going to continue to go up in value. There's a number of the nines listed on ebay at this very moment for 112 bucks. Granted the last one selling for according to card letter, about $90. I don't know, it's still, I don't know if 112 is that bad. Let me ask you this question and for the record. Yeah. Messi's was his 17th career World cup goal to set the all time record before the World cup started. I know we had talked on this program about Lamina Ball, right. Here's an 18 year old kid who most Americans, if you don't follow soccer aren't really familiar with who he is but at this point and it's not fair to compare him to Messi. There's no way you can compare him but he was the youngest player to ever score a goal in the World cup yesterday. He scored for the first time yesterday for Spain. Oh wow. I know there's we had talked about when fanatics gets the contract in five years and that big part that goes in there, right will be that the jersey one from his first game. So that was yesterday. So I am curious to know how much you mark's cards have changed even in the last 24 hours because now the hype is real. Right. He's 18 years old and he scored a World cup goal yesterday tying Messi for the youngest to ever score a goal. What's his value now? Is he already saying all right this guy is the real deal. That that's an interesting angle for me looking up the 2023 Tops Chrome UEFA Club competitions card of Laminal. I'm looking at a PSA 10 so those to see the graph on these card sales. Let me just Put this in perspective. February 15th. From February 15th to back to June of 2025, that card was ranging somewhere around $160. So for quite some time it was very little difference as far as the top sale and the top, the top sale and the bottom sale right around 160. But as soon as March 1 or so comes along, you start seeing these cards going up and up. And at this point, the last one just sold for $628 just in the last three months. This is 4x'd. A little over 4x it looks like. And I am pulling up now to see what they're listed at again. Non numbered PSA tens. There's one at 725. 700, 750, 850. There are quite a few that are. They are already expecting this card to continue to go up even higher than it already is. There's one 10 that has a buy it now at 625 that I'm half tempted to actually go out and purchase. Because I think even more so, like, I think Messi is solidifying himself, but I think there's a lot more upside potential even for Yamine Lamal or Lamine Yamal. Just because he's already gone up. I do get he's already gone up a lot, but he just has a lot more time to play well. And if anything, the parallels are incredible. If you look at within the last 12 hours, Lamina Mall was all the headlines in the World cup and Messi's almost quietly said, listen, that's a. Not so fast, son. This is still my world, right? Yeah. Messi comes back and does what Messi does and he's back at the headlines of the World Cup. So, yeah, if you're looking at your mall from the long. Let me put this way, Messi was 18 when he made his World cup debut. Lamina Mall is 18 and Messi's in his sixth World Cup. So if you're playing the marathon game, not the sprint game, you all should be around for a long time. The only problem with that is given his current pricing, he has like, as soon as all this is over, as soon as World Cup's done, I think like, there is a chance that he continues to go up during the World Cup. But as soon as it's done, I think his pricing definitely comes back down. And I think this card is something I could purchase for $625 in the next few months. So it is like if this is a marathon, then it's like, okay, well, I have an opportunity in my mind to buy him for this price or less after the World cup is over. Now that is given. If he does not go on an incredible run, he scores multiple more goals. You know, anything like that, if that happens, totally different story, right? It's very similar to like say Jalen Brunson, you know, going out. If you'd bought him earlier on and in the playoffs and then finally they won the the finals, if everyone, if sold or a majority sold, then they would not have experienced that bump. And that's kind of where I'm at with him. It's like, do I have enough confidence that I should go out and gamble and make that purchase now? I mean, he, Spain is one of the favorites to get to the final. So. Yeah, do you short him now? Buy it now and then turn around and sell them in three weeks before he has like half, half the pop count in tens as Messi does. I don't know. I don't know. Do it. Just. Just do it. It's your money. It's not. Yeah, go ahead. If I do it, does that mean I'm not buying my Messi 9? My messy 9 is only $112 versus my. But. But I'm deferring to you. Can Messi continue to go? I mean, how much better? He's already the goat. Where's Messi going to go? Yeah, right. The sky's the limit. I'm not saying he breaks any records or anything, but like right now it's that he, he lit. My whole point is there was so much hype around this kid and he actually did it yesterday, scored a goal, right? Yeah. So it's almost like, I mean, when you look at the New York Times and the front page headline is jamal announces himself to the world as the World cup phenom. That to me sounds like, all right, so he actually could be the real deal. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Now that we're done with soccer talk, we, we do need to talk about something that is very, very cool that's coming up this weekend. Ebay live. Now, actually, I'm going to bring Mike back into the conversation here. This is something that Mike even helped out with over the weekend. So we had a Joe DiMaggio signed baseball PSA letter. I think the thought was maybe it's going to go for like 5, $425, something like that. I don't know. Somewhere around there, Mike Funkle had sent this card over to Mike for this charity event and it ended up selling for 600 thanks to you guys. Thanks to the listeners and people who are out there in those auctions, which is amazing. This is all going to the All Stars Kids Card Show. I'm trying to think if there's like even more official name than me just kind of stuttering through the All Star show. But this show by far is just such a positive influence on the hobby. It is meant for kids who have disabilities, both physical and mental, those kids and their families to be able to have a place to go to a card show, to be able to not worry about like too loud of noises or, you know, too many people crowding around or people just not being aware of their disabilities in one way or another. So the All Star Card show that is being the beneficiary of these events, they are going to go out and buy up products to give to these kids at these shows. In fact, I'm going to be interviewing the guys who are behind this show on the Hobby Nonsense Pod this week. But this Sunday is going to be a much bigger ebay live show. Whether you're a non sport card fan or not, I would still encourage you to come over and check it out. It's 6pm Central, 7pm Eastern time this Sunday, eBay live on the Hobby Nonsense channel. Because we are going to have not only a bunch of graded slabs, we're going to have a few raw cards as well, but the kids themselves made sketches, a lot of them sports related. There's one Caitlin Clark sketch in there that's, I mean I'm pretty darn impressed. But it's the kids who go to these card shows, the All Star card show, when they hold previous ones, they had them go and make sketches for this so that then they could go auction them. So them and their families, they're going to be watching as well. It's going to be a ton of fun and really hoping that everybody can come out and join and support one way or another. But all proceeds go to the show. There's no, I've actually had number of people send me stuff just to auction it off for those kids. So again, if you guys have the time, ebay live this Sunday again, 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central Time. That's when we're going to get started and it all all goes to helping the disabled kids. So very, very cool. And you know, I'm not, I'm not going to lie to you, I know I've talked about Haystack before. This is not just a plug for Haystack. But I could not with my schedule these days, I could not do any of these, these ebay live shows without Haystack. Like I couldn't do it with that tool. Without that tool I just don't have the time. It has been by far the most beneficial and easy to use tool that I have when it comes to doing any ebay live shows. The fact that my daughter is able to just take my Every Monday when I have my cards shipped in for consignment from Funko, he will package them up to where I just have to take the boxes out, put them in front of my daughter. She takes the haystack, gets the camera, sets it out and just starts. She creates a new list for like the ebay show this Sunday and she's adding them in and then within I'd say 30 minutes or less for 100 cards, she's done. And then all we have to do is just match them up and the AI does half the work, if not all the work to match up all those cards. So it's a very simple process. Again, I've seen them already expanding to deals with other platforms. Like I think they're doing something with market movers coming up to like try and incorporate their pricing even with those cards. So I, I only see this expanding further. I hope that they do some kind of deal with card ladder since that's the one I primarily use anyways for my card pricing. But either way, fantastic tool. Can't say enough good things in the non sport card world. Like it's funny because Like I feel like I don't talk about it as much here anymore just because I am trying to keep things separated. But it is funny how even despite me not trying to talk about it, how Tops is incorporating it more and others are incorporating non sport aspects into Cards more and more. Granted, we've already seen this for years, right? We saw mini crossovers with Marvel and football cards and Looney Tunes and baseball cards. And you know, this has been something that's been going on for quite some time. Upper Deck has done a recent thing with Superman and the hockey cards. So there's a. There's a lot of tie in and for good reason. People love both those things. There's nothing wrong with loving sports and non sports. It's funny because you saw the Minions are going to be tied into a couple baseball and basketball products coming up from Topps. So you've got DreamWorks incorporating not just. We don't just have the Disney side of animation, but now we have DreamWorks Animation. I'm going to tell you this much, my personal opinion. If they have Minions joining for those card sets, I don't think it's long before we start getting, you know, what is it called? It's not called Minions is one of the movies, but it's. Oh, what are the Minions from? The Minions are from Despicable Me. Nailed it. Found it. Got it. All right, we're good. Despicable Me is a non sport product. I guarantee if. Well, I shouldn't guarantee anything, but if we're seeing DreamWorks characters like minions entering into sports cards with tops, it probably means there's some kind of licensing negotiation that's worked out and it could just be for that one set. But if I'm guessing, given how popular the franchise is, it would not shock me at all to see that enter into the rest of the card making world. The non sport cards. I say DreamWorks. In fact, I think it may be Illumination. It may not be DreamWorks after all. But what else is under illumination? Is Shrek under there? Anyways, it doesn't matter. All of this said, there's going to be more tie ins. People love both. You're going to continue to see that, but I think they have to stick. Stay true to your normal active athlete scenes on cards without animations, without flying through space and planetary cosmic scenes without some cartoon character in there, without a Pokemon bat knob. Like those things are all fun. It makes it more fun and it is much more of a mass appeal because you can hit multiple audiences with these kinds of cards. But I think they still have to stay true to the aspect of, well, a sports card should be an athlete performing at their best. A moment where that athlete was a inspiration to others. I think if they can continue to not only incorporate non sport in there for fun and to expand the audience, but to stay true to the sports fan and give them that, I think the Thompson is doing a fantastic job with how they are expanding that side of things. You know, that's those are all my takes and that's your show, ladies and gentlemen.
