Pokemon ttcg overdrive with jared and. Hello everyone. We're back from our summer break. I'm Zebra happy to be back. How about you, John? Yu-Gi-Oh I'm also Zebra happy to be back. All right. Yu-Gi-Oh So. So today we're going to be checking out Pitch Black, which we missed over the summer. So we're going to be doing the set list review on that. We'll. So we'll hop right in right after this quick break. All right, so we're gonna go ahead and start with our first ex, Laurantis. Ex. Am I saying it right? I think so. Okay. That kind of just seems like a real name. Laurentis. But Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, maybe it's Lurantis. Like a Mantis. Because it evolves. Oh yes, it is. It evolves from Faux Mantis. So Yu-Gi-Oh it's Laurent. Okay, so Laurentis Ex. Yu-Gi-Oh Lively cutter. 60 plus damage. If this Pokemon was healed during this turn, this attack does 200 more damage. So that'd be a total of 260. And also that's for one grass. So meta. This would be really good. Meta attack. Yu-Gi-Oh that is a really good meta. Doesn't Mega Venusaur heal? Yu-Gi-Oh I think. I'm not sure. But Yu-Gi-Oh that's a very good meta related attack. We've seen a lot more healing in the past few yes. Sets. So I feel like that that's a great. Yu-Gi-Oh Attack. Just leaf guard 140 during your opponent's next turn. This Pokemon takes 50 less damage from attacks after applying weakness and resistance. So that's okay for two Energy. Yu-Gi-Oh that's a grass and a colorless. And overall I think that's pretty. It. It kind of depends. It's like that second move that's considered better. Like no one ever uses it. No, it's like Pokemon says it's better. That's why it puts it second. But it's. It's not. It's. It's. It's. It's not better. I see. The thing is, if I'm using Lurantis, you gotta put in so much. You got heels. Because Lively Cutter. Right. And if it heals, Leafguard isn't really relevant, you know? Yu-Gi-Oh So it just feels like those two attacks clash a lot. And then also I feel like you could take Leafguard and throw it in the garbage for a better move. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm probably. I mean I'm probably not gonna use Lurantis one-of-one but it's a pretty good. And also with it only having 260hp and against a lot of these Megas, which can do, like, remember it? Only it's also after applying weakness and resistance, but it only pays two Prizm cards. So, like, it's true, but because it's only 260 health, I just have the problem where, you know, sure, 50 damage. Like, 50 damage not done. Charizard walk, damage, edit disappears. Exactly like the big Megas. They're doing enough damage that even with 50 less damage, Lorentis is still gonna die. So that just doesn't feel relevant, especially in a healing deck. And we've got such big Megas doing such big damage. Next, we have Mega Delphox. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm excited. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm excited to see this guy. I love Delphox. I think it's more of a feminine Pokemon, really. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. Okay, let me explain. In Gen 7, our Serena, who does she get? Delphox. It's a feminine Pokemon. That's true. Only girls in the anime have that Pokemon. Even the person that has a quest relating to the first one in Pokemon Legend. Za. It's a girl asking you to help Delphox. No, It's Duff F Ox's Pre Evolution Braxton no. 2. Oh, that is Vanakin. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh fine. Anyways, all right, so as I was saying, for one fire trick portal. Look at the top nine cards of your deck. Interesting. And you may put any number of Pokemon you find there onto your bench. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, so that's an interesting attack. I see this really good in Charizard. Yu-Gi-Oh Charizard. Especially Mega Charizard. Well, Yu-Gi-Oh I'm not sure what other chart we'd be talking about, because they all rotated out. Yu-Gi-Oh But you know what? I see this really good. And, you know, we talked about the meadow. We talked about the three Topps Oh, that second attack is actually pretty good. That's true. Okay, well, we'll get that in a second. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. I just want to talk about Trick Portal. For people who haven't listened to it, I recommend go checking those out. But we talked some about the meta and what it's gonna be looking like, and we talked about the three Topps of decks. And I really see this in aggro decks, like, aggressive decks, specifically, because it's. It's, like, easy setup, you know? Sure. It is a stage to set it up. That's true. It is a stage two. I mean, but. And all in all, it only takes one tree or the big tree. Oh, that's true. Yu-Gi-Oh And then all in all, it Only takes one energy and nine cards. I mean, I can wait. And you can put a stage two straight onto the bench. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, my. That is so good with the tree. No, you. If you. That second turn setup. Yu-Gi-Oh Well, technically, third setup, if you want to do the math. Yu-Gi-Oh I can't set up. If you want to talk about luck. Yu-Gi-Oh you. But Yu-Gi-Oh you can do the math and stuff. Nine cards. There's a good chance especially you'll get probably an Orange Choreo and a Charizard. Well, we're not just doing this in Charizard X, but there's a good chance, depending on how many Pokemon your deck has, you're. Especially if you already had one or two Pokemon on the bench. You're filling up the bench with that. Yu-Gi-Oh there's. I could definitely see that's where. That's not Tribute, you know, a lot of decks nowadays which are Pokemon heavy, I definitely see that happening. Huh? That. That's just. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Eerie Glow is also a peak attack. So for a fire, it's energy cost. Oh, that's true. It does for a fire, colorless and colorless. For the attacks 3, it does 200 damage, but the opponent is now burned and confused, which means they have to do a coin flip every turn to see their Pokemon and attack each Pokemon checkup. And if not, they're still confused, which means they can't do nothing. And then they take damage every turn from burn plus confusion. If they fail, they take 30 damage. Oh, they do. Yu-Gi-Oh It's confusion. You flip a coin. Am I I'm right. Yu-Gi-Oh Confusion. You flip a coin, they're still confused whether it's heads or tails. If it's heads, the attack goes successful. If it's tails Instead, they do 30 damage for themselves. So Eerie Glow, actually, with the effects, I think it's a decent. Yu-Gi-Oh Energy matchup. Like, I think a fire colorless and a colorless for 200 damage. Burn and confused. I think that's a pretty good energy and not much heals from status conditions. Yu-Gi-Oh there aren't. Status conditions, aren't. They've never really been. I'd love to see them more, but they've never really been a big thing. Yu-Gi-Oh And there's no counter. Oh, that's a cute one. I mean, there's some counters. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, look at the little whammer. It looks. I like the knitted ones. Yu-Gi-Oh I love the little crocheted ones, too. Like, that's what the. Oh, and just so you know, the Whalemer in the picture is just Cruciate for the. Like, looks like it's crocheted for the listeners at home. Yu-Gi-Oh we got a little wailord and it looks crocheted. It's a Whalemer. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh It is the next person. Yu-Gi-Oh Whale Lord Ex, which has way too much. Yu-Gi-Oh Like, energy. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh I wasn't. I wasn't talking about the energy first, but like, Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh 380 health right now. And he's a regular ex. He isn't even a mega. Megadel fox. Yu-Gi-Oh she had 350 health and she's a mega. But Wailord over here is a tank. He's got 380 health. Not even a mega. Yu-Gi-Oh but tanks need a lot of energy to draw. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh So we know this card. I'm looking at its attacks now. It's so bad. It's genuinely horrible. For three water energy, we got Surf 120 damage. That's horrible. That's 40 damage and energy falling down. Like, this is bro rolling out of bed. Yu-Gi-Oh He does 270 damage for five water energies. And he falls asleep. He's just so. He's just so he's rolling out of bed and then going back to bed. Like, literally, his surf thing, it does 40 damage per energy. Okay. Brion is doing that much. That's the D. Evolution of popplio. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh Is it that? Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh it is the evolution of popular Popplio, for one, energy is doing 40 damage. That's how much surf is doing. And for falling down division, division, division, division, it's too. It's not a clean low. It's. Yu-Gi-Oh it's not a clean number. It's way too low. Delphox is. It's doing 200 damage for 3, whereas for 3, it's barely mustering up 120. And then when we start spending 5 water energy 270 and it falls asleep. And falling asleep also is, like, normally bad, but. But its retreat cost is also four, so it's pretty much possible. But you want to waste 4 mana or not mana energy, bro. Stop thinking of magic. At the gathering, it's Pokemon time to get it down from the active to the bench. So that's just. Honestly, a really bad Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh Like, I started going over. I'm like, oh, we already have 380health. Let's go. And then I read his attacks. You're like, Yu-Gi-Oh he's really bad, huh? Like, even with that amount of health, he doesn't even have a good ability. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh This is just bad. And now we have Charjabug he dressed as Charger Bug, so I'm gonna go over him. He looks shiny, though. Shiny? No, he's normally green. Was yellow. Or is that shiny Chargebug. That's shiny Charge. I'm getting the shinies mixed up. Yu-Gi-Oh Charjabug is also really bad, but he's not as bad as Wailord, surprisingly. Yu-Gi-Oh he actually does 50 damage for two electric energy. Yu-Gi-Oh And it can still evolve into something better. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, but no one would even use him. Yu-Gi-Oh but he just looks tough. All right, next, probably my favorite, like, Mega in all of Pokemon. It's zero Zora Aura. It's there Aura. Okay, so Megazera aura. Thunderous Fists 1 Electric Energy 60 times. This attack does 60 damage for each electric energy to this Pokemon. You see, we're once again getting a Charizard, like, Pokemon charge up energy. And then you don't lose it. And. Yu-Gi-Oh you don't lose it on this one. And it's a great rate. I mean, that's awesome. Wait, what does Marine on do? It's. Yu-Gi-Oh that also helps. We got the Miradom with the ability Photon Core. This Pokemon is in the active spot, knocked out by damage from an attack from your opponent's Pokemon with two basic electric energy cards from this Pokemon to one of your bench Pokemon. So that's kind of a little, like, wall you can put up at the very start where you're setting up. And then you can move its energy to Megazora Aura by getting it killed because you can sacrifice a Prizm card in this meta. So one-of-one Megazor Aura's first attack. It's a attack. Miron's attack, though. I don't know. Thunder 2 electric and 90 damage, and it does 30 do itself. That's pretty mid. Yes, but if your plan is already to. Oh, to make it kill. Yu-Gi-Oh okay, that's true. All right. Who cares? Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh that is true. Okay, so Mega Zero Aura. I mean, the first attack already got 70 HP, though. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh It is kind of low, especially for a Mega. Especially for a Mega. It's a glass cannon. Yu-Gi-Oh Glass cannon. So. And Zepto Turn switches Pokemon with one of your bench Pokemon for 50 damage, 150 damage and three energy. You know, I think this is interesting. Is it. Is it gonna arise as one of those troll decks where you just switch and switch and switch, and you can never actually do enough damage to one, and they just keep killing you slowly? Yu-Gi-Oh but here's the thing. But Thunderous Fist is so stacked. You can do 180. Or you could do 30 less and you can switch. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. Or you could stack up even more because also. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, that's for the same energy. Yu-Gi-Oh And it also combos well with Miraidon because Zepto Turn, move Mirador. Enough. Let it get killed. Bring the energy down, then bring it back up to the active. And now it has 5 energy on it. Ready to unload. 300 damage. That's with Miraidon, because you could bring it down and sac sacrifice Marina with two energy on. All right, I think we're ready to move on to the next mega mega slowbro ex 33 hp. Another tank here. I mean, Yu-Gi-Oh Although for Omega, he's not actually that tanky. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, so a little weird, but we have been seeing this with recent Megas. He only has one attack. Huh? Shell NATO. Shell motto. Or is it shell NATO? Maybe it's shell NATO. Like tornado, but with a shell. Okay, Yu-Gi-Oh I think it's Shell NATO. It's Shell Nado. Spin 180. During your opponent's next turn, if this Pokemon is damaged by an attack, place 12 damage counters on the attacking Pokemon. Okay. And it's only three psychic energy. I gotta admit, that is pretty stacked because like, let's check if anything supports it. All right. Yu-Gi-Oh shop it. Hide and seek. I mean, prevent all effects of your opponents and Pokemon attacks and abilities done to. Oh, wait, no, that's just the. This Pokemon. Never mind. Wait, hold up. I'm Mega Shan. Wait, no, no, no, no. Wait. Not yet. I've seeing something kind of interesting. What is the interesting something? Okay, wait, wait, hold on. I gotta confirm the interesting something. I'm seeing as a thinking I'm something. I have no idea what I just said. Okay, so after further looking, Shuppet and Banette have an ability called hide and seek, which I said also. So does who Sinisty and. No, the. What are they again? Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh They're grass type, Poltergeist and sinister. Oh, okay. They all have hide and seek abilities. So that's four Pokemon with hide and seek abilities. And then I go to spiritu spiritual end one psychic. If you have 13 or more Pokemon that have the hide and sneak ability in your discard pile, choose two of your opponent's Pokemon and quadruple the number of damage counters on them. What the happened? What is happening? Pokemon you got. You're throwing some interesting stuff at us. I'm not really sure how to analyze that one. It seems good and bad at the same time. I think the ghosts are out to haunt us. Yu-Gi-Oh All right. So now as John was talking earlier. Mega Chandelier X. Anyways, it has 350 hp. So Yu-Gi-Oh that's pretty average. It has an ability your opponent. Your opponent's active Pokemon has. No. Is one more Phantom Maze for two Psychic Energy 130 plus this attack does 350 more damage for each energy in your opponent. Colorless energy. Colorless energy. But that means energy. I think opponents active Pokemon retreat cost. That is epic. Yu-Gi-Oh That's really good. Like because that's already. That's already automatically 180. And most Pokemon have a one or two retreat cost. So. So let's just say average with that is now 3 or street cost probably. Huh. Yu-Gi-Oh So we're looking at a lot 280 and no. But here's the thing. Have you ever noticed the more health a Pokemon has, the higher to retreat cost is? Huh. So Wailord is getting. It's doing 380 damage which is enough to kill Wailord. But on smaller Pokemon it's still doing enough to kill them. Like it kind of scales up based on how big the Pokemon is. This is like perfect. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. But eventually it past 380. It gets too much. But Yu-Gi-Oh Still. Okay. That is a really good Pokemon. I'm loving that. Okay. What does Annihilate do? Durable body. If this Pokemon would be knocked out by damage from an attack. Flip a coin. If heads this Pokemon is not knocked out and it's repeating HP becomes 10. So it's pretty much just Lifesaver. Okay. We are going to move on to Rampardos Ex. So I'm gonna need y' all to tune in right after the break. We'll be back in just a second. One second. All right guys, we're back. And as promised, we're gonna do rampardos ex. He has 330 hp. That's pretty tanky for a regular ex. Yu-Gi-Oh almost. His ability is destructive head butting once during your turn. If this Pokemon is in the active spot, you may use this ability. Flip a coin if Heads discard an energy from your opponent's active Pokemon. Okay. That's pretty good. Yu-Gi-Oh that's. But not the best. Yu-Gi-Oh It's like I feel like there are other abilities that just say discard it. You know. I feel like there's better. Huh. Okay. Let's keep going. Rowdy Hammer 2 Fighting Energy 150h150 damage. And then during your next turn, attacks used by this Pokemon do 150 more damage to Your opponent's active Pokemon. All right, so then it's doing 300 the next turn and then 300 the next turn and 300 the next turn. So you know what? I feel like it's overall a good Pokemon. I just feel like its ability one-of-one that good. I wouldn't use it for its ability. I would use it for. Yu-Gi-Oh First attack. Because it's deck's good, but as like a supporting Pokemon, not a main. I mean, Rowdy Hammer's pretty stacked anyways. Mega Darkrai, the starter. Yep. That star. Yu-Gi-Oh that is the star. That's like everything dust. It's HP is actually very low. Yu-Gi-Oh it's a mega. It's 280. That's really low HP dust grade. If your bench Pokemon have any damage on them, this attack does 110 more damage. Okay. So 220 total. Okay, that's. Okay. That's. That's pretty good. Oh, that's the name of the set. Or in Japanese. Yu-Gi-Oh that's the name of the Japanese set. At least for three Dark Energy. If you're a poke a month, active Pokemon is affected by a special condition. Knock it out. Okay, so we're seriously seeing some status effects right here. I know the combo. Wait, who you use? Wait, who was it that it was burned in thing? That one. Is that what you're thinking of? Yu-Gi-Oh Laser can. No, not Blaziken. Megadelphox. Mega Delphox. Yu-Gi-Oh You're just using a lot of fire, actually, because they have a lot of burn. Yu-Gi-Oh Or you can just the throw in like all the status effects. Yu-Gi-Oh Throw in a tiny. A fire type that can just burn the active Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh Point is, you be knocking out like crazy. Just get those status effects. All right. I believe the last Ex. We're going over mega excadrill. EX2 metal undermine 90 damage and discard the top two guards of your opponent's deck. Okay, I see you. Mega drill. Mega control. You know, Milling, I respect Milling. I've got. I've gotten really good. Yu-Gi-Oh I've. I've gotten beaten down. Especially tournaments. I've gotten beaten down with milling before. I really appreciate Milling. I think it's a great strategy, and I think that's a good attack. Okay. For only 2 maximum drilling. Really cool track. And only 3 metal energy. If this Pokemon has at least 2 extra energy attached in addition to this attacks of cost, this attack does 130 more damage. So 330. If you've got 5 energy attacks, I one-of-one even lie though. 5 energy. Yu-Gi-Oh 5 energy for 330 is really bad when other people be doing 330 for way less, you know? Huh. So overall I think it's first attack is good. I think it's second attack. It is just like. It's not something. It's like things are. There are. Things are much better than that. Okay, so let's look at some of these special arts. I mean, instantly the armor rose. It's like popping out of the page, doing a massive fire smash. Really cool. Goldin Nice. Like underwater, you know, the fantas going in a field. Prime arena. Also good water effect. Pope does a great job with like water and in like flying, bruh. I hate the cards that just have like an outline, you know? Yu-Gi-Oh And then like a standard black background. Those are the worst. Yu-Gi-Oh Like the full arts. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh They're like fullerts like. Sure. They're like more valuable. They're like. Some are cool, some are cool. But a lot of them just have like the blank background, you know, especially the regular ex's like Whaler. It's just a massive wailord and some blue little. Yu-Gi-Oh I think the Megas are a little cool because they have like that the outline of their original itself. So the nectric is really cool. It's like floating in air with a bunch of lightning around it and some rocks. Yep. Slowbro classic little like cartoon animation. It's looking up at a light, amazed. For some strange reason. The delmise looks like a little sketch. Cool. Oh, it. It's so tough. It's so detailed. Yu-Gi-Oh very detailed. Evil. It's kind of jumping over skyline. It's dressed as a thief. Kind of funny. Yu-Gi-Oh because look, he's got the little mustache. It already had that. Okay, well, okay, well then Thiev was just a thief in general. Bastodon also a really detailed sketch. If anyone plays Mario Odyssey, it looks like the second kingdom. Not gonna lie. I see that actually. Dukan. Yu-Gi-Oh it's like flying. It's got a little like. I like almost behind it. It's a little basic. Yes, but it sometimes basic is genius, if you know what I mean. Oh Yu-Gi-Oh definitely. And then silvally awesome detail. You got the rays of light flowing in. The Silva like jumps above a hill. Really beautiful art. We already talked about the full arts, so there are a few. Cool. Full arts. Okay. Then we move on to the sirs Megazera aura. So cool. Like this action shot of it about to shoot lightning. It's a glowing blue everywhere. Kind of looks like those like Zoro like Powering up. You know, like when, like, the blue flames erupt from him, you know? Kind of looks like that Mega Chandelure. It's like. It looks, like, so real. It looks like Mega Chandelure is actually there, but it's just a black background. So a little basic. It's basic, but sometimes basic is genius. Yu-Gi-Oh it's really good. I love it. I think it looks so real. Wait, did we forget to talk about more Peco Ex? That's weird. Wait. Should have been in there somewhere. Yu-Gi-Oh How do we miss Morpeko? Okay, we're talking about Morpeko. Oh, well, its HP is 180. Yu-Gi-Oh It's really bad for one dark wheelie draw. Shuffle your hand into your deck and draw six cards. I guess that's a good refresher, especially if you're playing. Yu-Gi-Oh And then two Dark Hangry Blaster 40. Plus, this attack does 40 more damage for each counter on this Pokemon. It only has 180, so I feel like it can't get that many damage counters where. That's a good attack, you know? Yu-Gi-Oh it doesn't feel, like very good. Okay, now back to the Sirs Omega Dark Ryosar. It looks like exploding in, like, a whirlpool of, like, darkness and, like, void and stuff. I really like. It's Dark Vines. Yu-Gi-Oh Oh, that's actually true. There's a little green. Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh that's really cool. But, Yu-Gi-Oh I do see the. We're coming out of it. Yu-Gi-Oh Eating the world and then more. Paco is just this little cartoon thingy of more Pekko, like, jumping at you, like, in a hungry rage. Because. Because that's more Petco. He loves jumping at people in angry ranges. Then you've got Goldin Final Battle. I mean, I love the ones where they show the sun rays just coming in and him standing in, like, a heroic pose, you know? And then Gwen kind of just a picture of Gwyn with a, like, shiny background. I like it. Yu-Gi-Oh I like it. It's very romantic. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. It does have that vibe. Okay. And the Mega Darkrai EX Gold, it's very basic. It's very. As I said before, basic is biggest sometimes. Yu-Gi-Oh you said that three times. Okay. So it almost looks like a cartoon version of it. It doesn't like. It's like. It's very. Just the lines. There's like. It's nothing extra. Yu-Gi-Oh The new. I really like the new Golds, personally. I mean, a few of them have been cool, but not all of them. All right, well, looks like this episode is coming to an end. Oh, well, of course. We've gotta pick the Pokemon of the episode. Episode day, same thing. Okay? So I'm not sure if we've done this in a while. So we're just choosing, overall, the Pokemon that we think. Okay. Is the best. I have one in my head. That's not the one I was thinking about, sir. No, not that one. Not that one. I'm trying to find which one he's talking Uptown, keep guessing. You'll never find it. Not that one. Not that one. I don't even think it got a full art. Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh Didn't even get a full art. Okay, we'll keep going. Oh, it's not slow, bro. Come on. I gotta find this one. It's the fire type, man. Oh, you know what that is, right? Megadel Fox wins Pokemon of the day. Let's go, Megadel Fox. I mean, it's stacked. It's stacked. It can fill up your bench. It can attack and get those. It's like a supporter and an attacker. Yu-Gi-Oh Mixed up into one giant. Yu-Gi-Oh it's really good. With a lot of hp. Yep. All right, guys, so that is our episode for today. Also, I don't know if y' all know, we have now have a Pokemon TCG Overdrive YouTube channel. Make sure to check that out. Yes, it is peak. It has very peak YouTube channel. It has great videos, lots of memes, lots of. We got some pack openings on there, so I'd love for you all to check it out. And we'll see you next week. Bye. It.
