You see my co host and I were supposed to be recording a podcast. Ironically, last as I'm recording this, it's the 20th of September. We were supposed to record a podcast on Tuesday the 15th for if you're watching this, the data comes out or listening to this the day that comes out, that would be the 21st. However, some stuff came up on my end on the 15th so we weren't able to record. Fast forward to Yesterday, Saturday the 19th again we were supposed to record that night. However, something came up on my co host's side of things. Again, life happens. She's been dealing with things in her personal life. I've. I've been dealing with a lot of things in my personal life. However, weird things happen, right? You see the other day a content creator and you may be wondering, well, you know, content creator, who cares, right? This one cares. This is, this is a big one. Avery de Pokey kid. He unfortunately came to an end with his battle with cancer. The kid was 12 years old. That sucks. That really, really, really. Life is short sometimes. Life is really, really short and that sucks. It's like I said, it sucks. It really, really, really sucks. He didn't deserve that. I mean, hell, nobody ever deserves to have. Cancer is a horrendous disease. It steals the life from you, whether it be quickly or slowly. And you sometimes, you never really know when or if you can ever get better. Case in point, his parents posted on Instagram stating that they went to the hospital for a routine appointment and then they left that day without him. How the hell does that happen? His goal was to hit 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and he hit that. And thankfully he got his silver play button from YouTube quite literally days before he, he passed away. Who knows, maybe he was waiting for that moment, we don't know. But what puts him apart from quite literally almost anyone in this hobby, with the exception of certain content creators, there are some jackass content creators and there's a lot of jackass people in life in general. But what put him apart from everybody else was that he didn't give a crap about the value of the cards. He, his value was in spreading joy. That was his goal. He didn't give a crap. It was a $1 card, a 10 cent card or a thousand dollar card. He didn't care because he just wanted to spread joy. He wanted to rip packs and enjoy the hobby. As a kid, should we, we get caught up in a moment and we forget that this is a kids game? It really, really is a kids game. And when you see people scalping products and you know, damn near fist fighting in the aisles of Target and Costco and Walmart, you name it. We lose sight of what, what this. It's not even a hobby. It's. Yes, it's a hobby. It's a toy game, It's a card game. We lose sight in what actually matters. What actually matters is that children can have fun. That's it. Shouldn't give a crap if some 40 year old doesn't get a pack of cards. Give those packs of cards to the kids. I mean, hell, when he was in the hospital, when Avery was in the hospital, countless, countless times, he would open packs and give cards away to kids, give packs away to kids so that they could have a distraction from the garbage that they were going through. When was the last time we saw a grown person, grown adult do that? I can't even count on one hand the last time I've seen a grown adult willingly give packs to. Hell, even another adult, let alone a kid, Avery, I, I mean, it sucks. It really, really does suck. I mean, deep down we always hope that you, that anybody beats Cantor because again, it's, it's a horrific, horrific disease. But it, sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. Because in all honesty, kids are saying they're going, I would really love to open up Pokemon cards, but I can't because we can never find any. And parents are saying, well, you know, I want to get you Pokemon, but that's a lot of money on, on the Internet, you know, it's, you know, Target is selling them for, say, I don't know, 20 bucks, but they're out of stock because everybody grabs them and then sells them for a hundred dollars. It's not right. So going. If you. Again, if you watch this video, listen to this episode, take a page out of Avery's book, because it was a short, short book. Spread joy, not stupidity. A message to the scalpers. You can quote, unquote, afford to give a box to a kid. And if you can't, you know, you really need to get those quote, unquote margins, then go get a real job. Because scalping aisles and watching kids be upset, that's not a job. That's a douchebag. Avery was amazing. We lost an amazing human being far, far, far, far too early in life. And I just wish that he had more time. I wish he didn't have had cancer, because even, I mean, he was 12 years old and he battled cancer for about eight years, I believe. You know how freaking hard that is? I can't even imagine. I've had some gnarly things in my life. Nothing will ever compare to that, ever. Even if, God forbid, in the future I develop cancer still would not have been remotely similar to what he had to go through. I'm going to end this podcast with the video. He pulls a freaking Flareon. That's holy. And dear God, I mean, I only took over 1500 dollars worth of packs, but no one give a crap about the value. No one gave a. All they gave a shit about was a kid enjoying himself. You heard it there. As long as he was having fun, that's all that mattered. So I never met the kid. God, I wish I did. Because he is someone who truly embraced the game of Pokemon for what it was, a game. He didn't give a crap about ripping packs and reselling the cards. He didn't give a crap about clearing idols and selling it for four or five times msrp. He just wanted a distraction from the Absolute hell that he was going through. So he wanted. Because you never know what someone is going through, whether it be a physical ailment like cancer or a mental ailment like depression, anxiety.
