So we've got Hunter from Fanatics to talk about what's new at the show, what's going on on the collectible side and much more you probably have seen. Anytime we're like promoting stuff on Fanatics Live, we're always like at Hunter, Hey, Hunter, you know, so you're like, oh, who is this Hunter? Well, here's Hunter live and in person with us talking. FNAC says, Hunter, what's going on, man? Thanks for joining us. Happy to be here. Big fan of the show. Collect Originals. Thanks for having me, boys. Yeah, yeah, it's been fun. The Collect Originals venture. So it's been now what we're three podcasts deep here, probably going to be doing more than very soon. So. Got a lot more coming up for you though. Fanatics Fest starting on Thursday. In fact, I think what we got some early. It's, it's an all week venture here and of course the Mojo Break team's going to be out there. I'm not going to be out there. I'm so. Not that I'm jealous. Not that I'm like, oh, you're jealous. I'll make it out there at some point. But I gotta know, you know what? I'm just gonna rip the band aid off. I don't know if you have any intel, but LeBron, is he making the decision at Fanatics Fest that I cannot believe that literally two minutes before I hopped on here, we're in the office talking and I said, I think he makes his announcement this weekend. So I have no intel, but my, my tinfoil hat is on and I, I do think it happens this weekend. There, there's precedent with, with big basketball names finding, finding out big news at Fanatics Fest. Right. You know, it makes me. Yeah. KD found out he was going to the Rockets on stage. It only makes sense. And, and the fact, the moment I heard rich Paul say LeBron is close to his decision. Well, boy, what's coming up here? Oh, okay. We got fnac. I mean, look, it would be an amazing moment for the event and it would be LeBron getting to do Decision 2.0, 3.0, wherever we're at now, without maybe the sort of the cloud over him of like, oh, he'd put this all together himself. Like, no, he just happened to be at this event and I, and I made the decision and can you imagine if he goes to the Knicks. Oh, geez. I could. I didn't even think about that. Can you imagine what Javits center it might have? Yeah, yeah. They. They're like, here you go. Here's your 25, 25, 26 world champions and LeBron James. Yeah. Here all together on stage. That would be pretty incredible. People would be looking for, like, street lights inside Javits to climb and. Yeah. Trash cans to snag as well. Where are the cop cars? Look, I'm saying Draymond is gonna be there. That's all I'm saying. I gotta rep for the Bay Area. Draymond is gonna go Dub Nation. We'll see. We'll see. Yeah, definitely. Also, too, coming from California for a trip. This is a weeklong venture, so it's. The Buzz is just like, weeklong for us as it is, I'm sure for everyone in New York City, too. But it's. It's so much fun, and I can'. To get into some of the exclusives, maybe some of the things that are new this year and whatnot. So, I mean, just how's the buzz in general right now in the city? Obviously, I feel like everybody's still coming down from the Knicks championship run, but I. I've got, like, a list here of, like, everything going on this weekend. You've got, obviously, the World Cup Final. You've got Fanatics, Fest. You've got Yankees, Dodgers to kick off the second half of the MLB season. You've got Saturday night main event at msg, wwe. And you. Look, I'll just throw it out there. You got Ariana Grande at the Barclays Center. I saw. You got Bon Jovi playing Madison Square Garden. Like, is there a better place in the world to be this weekend than New York City, is what I'm saying. And the ESPYs, and. Yes. Are they in New York? Yes. Yeah, it's. It's definitely. You know, this is year three and the energy. You know, I always say it feels like the week of your birthday or like the week leading up to Christmas, you know, where you just want to get there. But this is the first year where I feel like there is literally so much going on where you're going to have Fest and then you're going to have the World cup watch party. You're going to have, you know, Roman Reigns with Jalen Brunson Saturday. Like, it's just. There's so much going on and there's so much crossover with Fest that I think is. As a sports fan, I just you know, you mentioned you're not going to be here, but like, I, I don't know how you miss this weekend if you're a sports fan. You know, this is the super bowl for sports fans. Like, if there was a Super bowl of fandom, this is the, I mean, it's like, it's the World cup, you know, like, it's the World cup of. I. I mean, I'm 28, Hunter. I have not been around a lot of big hype like this. Even in California. Like, I'm a Dodger fan. We've had a lot of like big Dodger mania going on last couple of years. There's nothing that compares. And I don't think especially with the World cup, you know, being just every four years, I don't see anything even coming coming close to this weekend, this whole week, plus maybe anywhere in the world in the future, in the near future. No, you're, you're absolutely right. And I think like, what makes Fanatics Fest so cool? You know, you look at the, you look at Comic Con, you look at Complex Con, you look at all these different, you know, festivals, and they're incredible. They, they do great things. We've taken a lot from these, you know, bringing Lance over. There's been a lot of integration in learnings from those other, you know, cons. But to your point is like, if you're a baseball fan, great, we got something for you. You like, F1. Great, we got something for you. I mean, Fanatics Fest literally just covers the entire sports fandom spectrum. And plus you got 250. So even if you're into cards, you got 250 dealer boots. I mean, it's just. And it gets bigger every year for. They're continuing to add more stuff. So. Yeah, it's just, I'm excited to see where this is going to continue to go based on what, you know, we've seen over the last two now three years. Yeah. One thing that's really cool too, I think with a bunch of athletes and celebrities now engaging themselves in, in the card world and in the industry, in the hobby, Fanatics Fest is the only place, in my opinion, it's the only place that connects the fans to then those athletes, those celebrities, and then the 250 dealer booths. Yeah. If you want to create a card moment or if a fan or a celebrity wants to, you know, create a hobby ripping experience moment, there's that too. On top of all the crazy F1 and all the WWE. So, dude, it's like Disneyland, you know, I Can't, I can't come up with any other like analogies or metaphors. It's like it's, it's, it's just the best. Walking the floor just you know, his six foot, six self. Seven foot six self, I should say. Yeah, it's, it's, it's different man. It's different. Yeah. No eggs allowed inside of the Javits center, everyone. That's a great point. Yeah. The, the response for Wemby might be a little different this year. Incredible. You know, he was a late ad and I was like, we kept looking at who's being added and went, I get it. If we wants to sit this one out, I, I totally understand it. So good on him for being like, you know what? No, it's a big, it's a huge event. It's, it is the mecca of sports fandom for a four, five day period. Got to be out there. Everyone loves wimby. Yeah. If they. Everyone loves Wemby. It was heated, heated final. Everyone. Also probably doesn't hurt that France has a, has a pretty decent shot of playing in the World cup final that Sunday. So I think he's going to want to be around the area just in case. So yeah, I want to talk about the, the collectible side of things because I think this is something when we first heard about FN Access, now we're three years in from our perspective here in the Hobby, the. I mean, and I'm sure you guys have heard it all the time. It is, you know, whether it's fair or not to sort of pit the two big shows of the year against each other, like Fanatics Fest national, which one are you picking? Which one you go into? And obviously I think now three years in one you find that, I mean, what you're talking about, they are offering unique things to each person. Like there's something that at the national maybe that is a little, the vibe of the national is going to be a little different than the vibe at Fanatics Fest. But I think what I want to touch on is on the collectible side of Fanatics. You talked about more dealer tables. There was a big push last year for the breaker station. We, I think this year we're seeing the card combine, which is a new element of really introducing people and getting people into the hobby side of things. So now three years in, if I'm someone who maybe is like, is Fanatics Fest the place for me as a collector, what would you say to that person? Now as there's more of this type of Stuff being added, more of a push maybe towards the collectible side of things, or really embracing the collectible side of things on top of that. Yeah, you know, I think, I think this has been, you know, a debate over the last couple years as, as this is kind of evolved is, you know, if you're picking one show to go to, which, which is the one to go to. We've all been to the National. The national does what the national does. Right. It provides collecting at every level. You want. You want every type of sport card bat jersey, they got it for you. So I think, you know, I do think it's. It's tough to compare them because I do think they are such different events in a lot of ways. But even at the national, you're starting to see, you know, more. More athlete involvement, you know, athletes walking the floor being, being collectors, buying stuff. So I think they're different shows, you know, but the beauty is, is, you know, Fanatics Collectibles shows up at both events. So it really just depends on what type of. What type of fan you are and what type of collector you are and, you know, ultimately what type of experience you want. But obviously the national as, as sports card collectors is the tried and true, you know, for, for collecting, you know. Yeah, yeah. And, you know, and I think too, it's. It's what I'm seeing not just from National Fanatics Fest kind of comparison like I was just seeing, you know, I've been to Comic Con years ago and the presence obviously of trading cards at that point. This was like 2013, 2014, just didn't. Wasn't the same this year. I think I just saw Marvel announcements that there's going to be an exclusive drop of Topps Mint Marvel at Comic Con this year. I believe they had one last year as well. So now we're even seeing at Comic Con, which I think is kind of the other comparison that Fnax Fest gets of like it's Sports Comic Con even that now is embracing the hobby. You're seeing a much bigger presence of tops and all of these card brands there as well. So I just think it really speaks to where we're at with this industry that all of these events are sort of converging and merging and everybody's got a little bit of the hobby love in it right now. Yeah, running too, because you mentioned that you took maybe some influences or there was a lot of things to take away from the successes of other conventions or whatnot. But already we're not even quite to the third iteration of Fanatics Fest. And we're already seeing those big brands start to pick off you guys a little bit too. So that's, that's really cool too. I think that's like a. A sign of doing it the right way and also being so inventive and innovative with what y' all are doing. So, yeah, the fact that it's year three and you guys have been to the previous Fest, right, Like, you've seen the evolution of, of size, what brands show up, how we as fanatics show up. And it's always a challenge and always fun to. To look back on the previous year and say, okay, how can we change this? How can we elevate the experience for fans? Attending is truly like our north stars. Like, how do we make this better? And I think you've seen that we've done that over the last two years. Yeah, I think I remember everybody coming back from that first one going, how does it get any bigger than this? Well, here we are, year three, and it does truly feel like we are about to embark on what is the biggest one so far with all the names, with all the stuff going on about it. Talk about the actual, like, what, what can we grab on the show floor? Because the exclusive merch is always a huge hit. I know. I mean, I'll just. I just love watching from afar just seeing all of the exclusive stuff. And of course, I'm calling Bubba, I'm calling Alex, I'm calling our guys. Like, yo, you need to get me that right now. I'm venmoing you at this moment. You have to get me all this stuff. So what are some of the exclusive merch drops that you personally are most excited about for the show? You know, it's always exciting because I love one of my favorite parts of Fanatics Fest is going to merge Village and just going crazy looking at all the collabs. They've done a good job of kind of keeping the true collabs under wraps until closer to the event. So you really feel that exclusivity. But I love what we, you know, I love our collabs that we've done with, with Mitchell and Ness. You know, the throwback, the vintage stuff. I think you're going to see a lot of a few new faces this year. I'm not going to. Not going to, you know, tease any right now, but I think you're going to see some new stuff this year that is really special. You know, Fnatics dropped the new vintage line earlier this year. I could see them being Involved. But you have year three of Cactus Jack mlb. You have Series two Fanatics Fest exclusive. You know, you have UCC exclusive with the World Cup. So, like, again, seeing the. The exclusive tops product and seeing people ripping it on on the go and then taking them to the dealer booths and cashing out or trading for something else that they want is really cool. So for Cactus Jack, specifically, because it's the third year, it's nice to see. See how that design has evolved and getting some of the new faces in there. You know, year one, I remember Corbin Care getting the Corbin Carroll rookies out of Cactus Jack, right? And like, just seeing how. Seeing how that product has evolved and especially for Cactus Jack, going from a truly an exclusive product to. To being a hobby, you know, a true line, right? Yeah. And they, they've kind of like surpass just like the novelty kind of like aspects and stuff like that. Because I've been noticing, I went back and looked the 2024 and 2025 Cactus Jack boxes. They keep going up in value too. So it's like, it's not like. It's just like a. A weekend peak and then like no one cares about it after, after the weekend, it's like, these are fanatic. These fanatics Dice exclusives are like, slowly kind of like ingraining themselves in the. The greater hobby and like TOPS footprint overall. So it's not like they're gimmicky or anything. Like, collectors want these things too and like, similar, you know, one way to think about it is similar to a Tops now. It is. It's tied to a moment. It's tied to an event. Right. You know, you. You can't go get that product after the four days. You know, you got to be there. Yep. Yeah, that's a good point. Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with power boost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell. This episode is brought to you by Google Health. I think it's a series two where they're having like the home field, the exclusive home field advantages in there as well. I know. Another big announcement. Obviously you know we're all about the baseball stuff Bubba and I. So the cause MLB collab that's going to be coming timing it with Yankees Dodgers just in general. I mean the baseball presence this year. This was the one thing that you know as a baseball fan he just understood like the season's happening. You know, it's tough to get these guys but it does feel like you guys and I know with like the World cup and we'll talk maybe a little bit more about the timing there but like the timing of it being All Star break where you can catch that brief window of like getting some of the biggest names. Obviously having Yankees Dodgers due for the weekend but feels like one of the best baseball pres. The presence of baseball here at this event is probably the best it's been in the three year, this short brief three year history of the event. Yeah, I would, I would agree with that and you know I'm trying to remember the exact dates of the previous three but I think we've adjust. They've adjusted fanatics fest timing every year. So I know you know obviously there's, if the Yankees are in town there's always going to be some sort of Yankee presence. I think they do a great job with curating the retired MLB guys. You know Jeter, David Ortiz, the list goes on. So yeah I think you know baseball you hit it on the head like the timing of the event, it being in summer is always going to be a challenge to get active guys but you know I think they do a great job working with what they got to to make sure that they capture you know that sport with, with athletes. Yeah. Freddie Freeman, Blake Snell. I think I saw Will Smith, Kyle Tucker. So all those Yankees is a bunch of Yankees will be there. Yeah. I mean Aaron Judge I think is for selfish reasons. I mean we're, you know we're totally stoked about that. But yeah, and then on top of that too. I mean it's, we kind of, we touched on it a little bit. But the timing of having the World cup there and the huge news that the, the pre, the press conference for the World cup final will be at Fanatics Fest absolutely massive. And I've been seeing more names trickle in. I think I just saw that Zlatan is now scheduled to be there. My, my guy. I love Zlatan. I'm a big Zlatan fan. So just talk about just in general how the presence of the World cup has sort of shifted in maybe in preparation, shifted everything and the ideas of like what is possible for this kind of event and like what you think this having this here and having that watch party on Sunday, like what are we going to see is. I mean it feels like it's, it goes without saying maybe that this is going to be maybe the most international event for the fanatics for Fanatics Fest so far. Yeah, you know I'll, I'll speak, I'll speak honestly, historically never been the biggest soccer guy right this World cup and I think for a lot of people you've seen this kind of shift in like oh wait, soccer is awesome. And what have I been doing not watching soccer. So for me personally I have totally become a fan, you know, of, of just the fandom like seeing it in America, seeing, seeing Sofi stadium packed out, seeing MetLife Stadium packed out with these, these fans from all over the world. I think you're going to see that this weekend, right? You know you have this press conference depending on what two teams ultimately end up in the finals. I think you're going to see a lot of fans from those respective teams there. So I think you know, soccer is a, is a global, global sport as we all know and I think it was really big for the sport to, to have the World cup in America, at least in my perspective as a newer fan to the sport. So I think it's just overall good, it's good for the hobby, it's good for fans. You know, there's probably a lot of soccer fans that are already in the city for the World cup that are like, oh I got an extra, you know, day, free day. Let me go check out Fanatics Fest. So I think you're going to see a lot of new, new fans and new collectors coming into the fold from via the World Cup. Yeah, I got to imagine to the show floor is going to be you're going to see a lot of dealers with a lot more soccer than maybe they usually would. Maybe some real big stuff, some Mbappe, some Messi's, some Yamals kind of floating around the show floor. I guarantee we're probably going to see something where we get maybe some record breaking card with one of the biggest stars that's still, you know, among these Final Four teams. That would be a huge. Some huge, huge news and great press. Obviously. It'd be perfect timing. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And you have the exclusive Fanatics Fest soccer box too. So it's just. There's so much in that, like, just built into that too. And yeah, the. The dealer booths. I wonder how like. Yeah, just thinking about all the different soccer singles coming out. There's like, there's no cap on this on this weekend. There's no ceiling. There's. There's just. With all these different sports going on, it's. And you know, if we're talking, you know what? This just popped in my head. The big guns are going to be coming out. This popped. My head has nothing to do with. With any of the, you know, cards or anything, but like, if we're talking just converging worlds of sports, like can we get Zlatan vs Alexi Lawless Saturday night WWE main event? Like, can we make this happen? Somebody. Somebody's got to pull the strings at the event and make it happen. We gotta. The world needs. It has lots on. Never done wwe. I. I don't know. It feels like a per. He feels like a shoe in for wwe. He would fit in so well. His pop on the walkout. Are you kidding me? Could you imagine it would be great if. Look, if Lawless plays into the heel role, he's getting booed mercilessly and then Zlatan comes out. The pop would be nuts. Oh my God. I hope you're manifesting something right now. Make it happen, wwe. This idea is for free. Call me for the next view. That one's for free. Yeah, we got to make that happen. A couple more questions for you on the way out. Give us something maybe that you have been, you know, something that maybe behind the scenes you've been hearing about that you could share the bets. Maybe something that maybe is not on everybody's radar for this event that you feel like this. Should I want more people to know about this or you're really excited to see some new element of the show. What do you think maybe people are maybe sleeping on or just don't know too much about yet that's coming up this weekend? Yeah, anything that like maybe Collectibles is doing or. Yeah, yeah, we. We're showing up differently this year. You know, for. For anyone that has gone to Fanatics Fest over the last two years, you know, tops and Fanatics Collectibles have shown up separately. You know, we love each other. We work very close to each other. But our presence booth wise was separate. This year that is not the case. We are now all under one roof as Tops Fanatics Live, Fanatics Collect. So what you can expect is an incredible vault displaying some of the best and biggest cards in Fanatics Collect. We'll obviously have our sales guys taken in consignments and in vaults for, for submissions. The big thing for Fanatics Live this year, you know, last year we had obviously the breaking arena. We had eight side booths live streaming all three days and then main stage we had athletes appearing. We switching it up. This year we have seen, you know, instant rips really become a huge part of the community and part of Fanatics Live. And we want to bring that to the next wave of collectors. So we have something really special. So what you're going to expect is fans are going to be able to come in and have a special instant rip experience that they've never seen before. We're going to have athletes coming by, we're going to have celebrities coming by, driving that experience and living it with you in the moment. And then of course Topps is going to do their thing. They have some great stunts and panels planned, some new faces in the fold that are gonna I think surprise a lot of people. So I'm really excited to have Tops and Fanatics collectibles just all under one roof this year. And in our space is pretty, it's pretty big this year. So I think there's going to be a lot for, for fans to do. But I also do want to quickly touch on the card combine because you know, especially we were just talking about soccer and these new collectors, right? Education is so important in this hobby and it's very easy to be overwhelmed. What the card combine is going to provide this year is really a hand holding, step by step walk through on how to be a collector, how to be in the hobby. You know, we're going to have hobby shops showing up. We're going to have a breaking studio where they can understand what breaking is. CGC is going to be on site doing education and grading. We'll have insta rips available there. Fanatics Collect will have their, you know, consignment involving collection, collection management. So there's really just going to be a step by step and really hit all the big points for collecting. Yeah, we're excited because I think we're playing, I think we're going to be roaming the floor for the card combine. We're going to be a big part of the Mojo Break team is Going to be out there helping out, getting people hyped up and to learn about this hobby and introduce new collectors, young and old to, to this. It's, it's a really exciting venture to offer this and, and you know, and get people right there having their, you know, having them experience the first break, the first great, you know, how to grade and all that. It's, it's a, I think it's a really good, a really good venture here for the show to do that. Yeah. And like starting off at an industry conference in Arizona in February like Tops and it was adamant on education involving the collector, growing the collection, collecting experience. And just month over month, it's almost like week over week, it's like top slash fanatics are coming out with new innovations or now like card combine and they're putting their money where their mouth is. And we see it in our shop too, our brick and mortar here. The influx of people and different demographics and generations like you got like the reach is there. So to have it all kind of come together and once like I don't really see it as like a card convention, it's like a celebration like fanatics fest. So I'm just looking forward to yeah, the whole kind of like celebration aspect of that going on too because it's, it's real like things are happening in this hobby and it's, we're feeling it and it's, it's all positive and yeah, yeah, it's great. It'll be awesome too to like it's the great thing I think about doing these types of, these shows is always, you know, we get so caught up in living in the digital world nowadays and like to get to see whatever it is, customers, friends, people, you know, co workers or acquaintances that you have only been keeping in touch with via our breaks or the live streams and the chats and everything. And to get to see them in person, to get to have that moment, it's the best. It's just to get everybody in the same under one roof where we're all, you know, common minded people all, all you know, just having a great time, talking sports, talking cards, flipping cards, having, having a blast. So very excited for you guys to be there. I'm making it out next year. I swear to, I swear to you, it's happening next year. Don't, don't miss out. But actually Hunter, on the way out I would be remiss. Any good pizza spots to recommend in the area? What's the best slice that if people are going to New York for Fanatics Fest. Best slice in the city. I got to know. Wow. So as a non native New Yorker but spends a lot of time in New York, I love mamas too. Okay. Mamas too. It's right next to Linda street, which is next to Bleecker Trading. So Lindustry. Lindustry. If you asked 100 people in New York, what's the best slice, you're going to get a lot of lindustry, but it's packed always. You go around the corner. Mama's 2, the line is 10% of it and I think it's just as good. So I, I'd say Mama's, Mama's two is, is my wreck. I love it. I love it. I, I, I've got, I've got a whole list, I've got like a Google map of all of the best spots to get slices in the city. So it's adding to the list right now again. So have a slice for me. Yeah, you guys are out there. Take a slice back for him, Bob. Yes, please get me a slice back. If they got a gold belly up in there or something like that, send that thing back in a, you know, whatever. And some, anyway, and some dry ice or whatever the hell they do. Hey Hunter, this was, this was great to learn more about it. Great talking to you, man. Tell us more where we can find you more about Fanatics collectibles, all that good stuff where we can find you on socials and how we can. If people have not yet got tickets to Fanatics Fest. Can they still get tickets right now? Yeah, I was looking this morning. Tickets are dwindling down. So if you don't have your tickets, definitely go to fanatics fest.com and get those tickets. You can find me at Paging Hunter on Instagram. I love this hobby, man. I'm excited for this weekend. Thanks for having me, guys. Big thanks once again to Hunter. Find him at Fanatics Festival. You know what? We, like I said at the beginning of the show, we always are tagging him on anything big we ever hit on Fanatics Live.
