We're coming up on the NBA and NHL Finals. Plus the WNBA is in season and MLB is more than a quarter of the way done with its regular season. We've got tons of players and tons of Cards moving up and I'm counting them all down on today's Top five Cards. Hey everyone, welcome back to another Top five Cards going up. My name is Tyler Nethercott, better known as Teapot, here inside the Arena Club studio in Cards HQ and I've got an exciting top five this week. Why? Because we are headed toward the NBA Finals as well as the NHL Finals. It is a really exciting time of the year for sports in my opinion. We just got off of the NFL draft, we got World cup coming up plus we're baseball season, wnba. There's a lot of stuff going on so we're going to count it all down as always on today and today's top five is sponsored by Whatnot. Let's start out by taking a look at the overall sports card market with Market Pulse by Market Movers. Over the last seven days, the SCI 500 index of 500 of the most prominent sports cards is up 0.7%. Over the last 30 days the SCI 500 is up 6.4% and since January 1st of this year it is up 24.7%. The best performing category of cards over the last month is football from 2000 to 2009 which is up 25.9%. And the worst performing category is baseball from 2010 to 2017 which is down 8.1%. As a reminder, the Cards you'll see in today's show have gone up in price recently, but are not necessarily good investments right now. Do your own research and decide which cards you think will go up next. All right, let's kick it off this week with our Cold card of the Week and that is Khan Knippel, the guard from the Charlotte Hornets. Con. Knippel entered the offseason after a promising rookie campaign, but the year ended in disappointment as Charlotte fell short in their play in game. The second play in game, Knipple showed flashes as a scorer floor spacer throughout the season, though inconsistency and defensive growing pains limited his impact during that final stretch, he came up just short in rookie of the year race versus Cooper Flag despite several strong performances in those two play in games that Charlotte had where they ultimately lost to Orlando and didn't make the playoffs. Khan was just 5 for 22 combined in those two games and 1 for 12 from three. All of Knippel's cards as tracked by market movers are down 21.6% collectively over the last 30 days. That's on 807 different cards, totaling 3,400 total sales. And before we look at Knipple's chart, his, his cards, I just want to call to attention and I want to ask you, the audience, what you think about Con Canypo. His cards have been very expensive. He's been very hot. He's, he's a shooter. He's a certified bucket as the kids say. And he shot 47.5% overall and 42.5% from three. This is his shot chart, which you can see is very heavily from the outside. This guy, he sits and lives and breathes on the outside. We saw some big seasons from Duncan Robinson and other players who sat and they just kind of on the outside of this one comparison I might make, this might make some of you upset, some of you might not even know who this is, but this is Mike Miller. Mike Miller, the kind of longtime journeyman. He scored a lot of points. This is admittedly not his rookie season that Miller had. This was his best season where he played 70 games and he averaged exactly 18.5 points per game. Just like Kahn. He had roughly the same rebounds, slightly more assists, slightly more. On these, the shooting efficiency, not quite as good. Nobody, and I mean nobody is out there investing in Mike Miller. I'm sure there are Mike Miller collectors. For sure. There's not a ton of them. I've never met a Mike Miller collector. He was fun to watch. He was really valuable to the teams that he played on from that outside shot. But does this concern you at all now? Maybe you're saying this is not a fair comparison. This is rookie versus like sixth year peak, Mike Miller. The league was different back then. Three point shots just didn't happen as much. Players like Knippel would not have been valued back then, back in the 2000s like they are today, which is why Miller didn't have the volume and the shot selection. But what about Klay Thompson? Klay Thompson. To me, this was like a little bit of a eureka moment for me. Super valuable to the warriors dynasty. Some would say second best shooter of all time after Steph that some people put him in that conversation. And here's his best two seasons. So this was Clay's two best seasons combined. He was at 22 points a game, not quite the same. Rebounds, scoring efficiency, very similar. 47% from the field, 42% versus 42.5% shooting. Same exact, identical free throw percentage. Clay had a period where his cards were expensive, but now they're not as expensive. I don't know. This is interesting to me. I don't know what to make. Knipple could go on to be, you know, a prolific scorer Maybe he averages 30 a game and he develops more of an inside outside game and keeps getting better. Very possible. That's why I'm asking you what you think of his prospects. I just always like to make these comparisons and say where do you try to forecast? Because early in their rookie career it's very hype and potential based. But where is the real potential? All right, enough of that. Let me zoom in a little bit and let's look at some of his cards. And we've got Knipple here. I'm actually going to look at price changes by percentage, which compares all these apples to apples. And you see Knipple's down. He's down on a lot of stuff. Down 31% on his tops base PSA 10. There's about 1500 of those. I'll pop that open just so you can see the nice image of that there with the armpits fully exposed. And then you've got 20, 25 tops chrome, X fractor, raw. This one down 15.6%. And then you've got this card here. This is his Topps Chrome Rookie autographs down 3.5%. There's some volatility. There was an early sale and this thing spiked up to $538. And then lastly, we've got his Planetary Pursuit. Really cool looking card here. A little bit of a weird photo, but I like the background. That's really cool looking. The sun parallel or version of the Planetary pursuit. And this one's down a whopping 64.6%. So our cold card of the week, Con Knippel. Let me know what you think of him long term. Down below. Moving into our investment card of the week. And it is a Malone, but maybe not the one you'd think. This is Jeff Malone we're talking about the shooting guard, formerly of the Washington Bullets, the Utah jazz, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat throughout his career, which started in 1983. And went all the way up to 1996. Jeff Malone was one of the NBA's most underrated scorers during the 1980s and early 90s. Known for his smooth mid range shooting and consistency, he was a two time NBA All Star and averaged over 20 points per game in six different seasons during his 13 year career. Malone scored more than 17,000 career points while starring for those aforementioned teams. And even Michael Jordan once called Jeff Malone one of the toughest players he faced, praising his ability to hit difficult fallaway jumpers under pressure. Why are we talking about Jeff Malone though? A guy who we're looking at his stats here. I just thought it'd be fun to compare the different Malone's. The three notable Malone's, the three only Malone's actually in history excluding Mike Maloney. You got Moses Malone, who some would say is maybe the most disrespected or underrated player in NBA history just for what he did. Karl Malone, everybody knows the mailman, he always delivered except that one time. And then you got Jeff Malone who also played alongside Karl Malone for a little bit with the Jazz. You don't. These stats don't scream anything two time all star. Why are we talking about it? Well, we're talking about it because it's his 1986 Fleer rookie card. It wasn't his rookie season, but it's still considered his rookie year. Just like MJ and other players and people obviously set collect this set. They set collect including people who have deep pockets who like to try to set collect the PSA 10s. So what are we looking at here? What we are looking at here is a massive, massive price premium for this PSA 10 which is pop 67. So there's only 67 of these in PSA 10 condition. So if you're trying to set collect and build that PSA set registry like so many people do, it's gonna set you back $48,100. If you just want a Jeff Malone card because you liked Jeff Malone, you can get into a PSA 9 for 316 bucks. You can get a PSA 7 for $23. So from an investment card perspective, it's really just the PSA 10 that would be the investment. If you can afford it. If that's your budget, then this set in particular in that PSA 10 condition, very good. You can make a case for the 9 2. Anything below that I would call a collector piece. Something that if you want to collect Jeff Malone or you just want to kind of try to build that set out in lower grade. Certainly you could do that, but what's really interesting is to think about would you rather have a PSA 9 Michael Jordan or a PSA 10 Jeff Malone? It's going to depend on what your intentions are or any of the other number all time hall of Fame greats in this set. But with all that being said, Jeff Malone's PSA 10 is our investment card of the week. All right, we're moving on to our hot cards now. At number five this week it's Carter Hart, the goaltender for the Vegas Golden Knights. Carter Hart has been a major piece of their playoff run all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, helping them reach the finals once again with multiple clutch performances in the net in the Western Conference final sweep over the Colorado Avalanche, which a lot of people did not see coming. Hart made 20 saves in the series clinching game four win and helped Vegas extend its postseason winning streak now to six games in a row. Throughout the postseason, Hart has continued to deliver in high pressure moments, including a 34 save performance in a double overtime playoff win earlier in the run against Utah. Hart has a.924 save percentage overall in the playoffs, which I think is around third or fourth overall amongst all players in the NHL Stanley cup playoffs. All of his cards as tracked by market movers are up 71.8% over the last 30 days on 13 different cards totaling 86 different sales. So we're going to take a look. Here's his SP Future Watch Auto. Really nice looking card. These are obviously very iconic, numbered to 99. For hockey players, that card's up 55%. And then we've got his Future Watch Auto raw. So this one's up 79%. Up to $79.99. You got his young guns base. This one is up in PSA 10 is up to $110. That's up 105%. There he is in the net getting ready and then you've got his raw version of that card which is up 192% over the last 30 days. So our number five hot card this week is Carter Hart. At number four this week it is Sonya Citron, the guard for the Washington Mystics in the wnba. She has quickly emerged as one of the most impactful young rookies in the league, bringing scoring versatility and strong perimeter defense from day one. She recently exploded for a 30 point performance in an overtime win versus the Indiana Fever, showcasing her ability to take over offensively while shooting very efficiently from the field. Citron has been Consistently producing early in the season, flashing a polished all around game and scoring ability that has made her the standout prospect coming out of Notre Dame. Go Fighting Irish. All of her cards is tracked by market movers are up 36.1% collectively over the last 30 days on 107 different cards totaling 285 different sales. We're going to start out here. This is her rookie variation. Here she is pointing at you saying you should have invested in me sooner. Should have believed. This is a rookie variation out of Prism. And this card is up 225%. This one actually $8.75 back on April 30th. Now up to $39 on that most recent sale. And then you've got her Prism silver raw condition here. This one's not as nice of a looking card in my opinion, but I guess that's the design for that set. And the position's a little throwing me off. Looks like she's skiing. Downhill skiing. Anyway, this is raw. This one's up, it's at 10 bucks. Still very affordable if you want to collect her cards at $10 for a nice looking shiny silver Prism refractor type card. And this one's up 81.5%. So that was much cheaper just a month ago. Here's another card. This is her Prism abstract super short print I guess maybe kind of case hit type card. 140 bucks. This is up 57% over the last month. And then lastly, if you want to chase one of her autos, it is a sticker auto. And this card is the throwback purple. This one's up to $227 in raw condition at 91.6%. At number four this week it's Sonya Citroen. Alright. At number three, arguably the hottest team in basketball right now. They haven't lost a game in over a month. The New York Knick and it's Jalen Brunson, their fearless leader scoring leader. Brunson has continued to cement himself as the face of the Knicks franchise, leading New York to its first NBA Finals appearance since 1999. I remember that one. In the Eastern Conference Finals sweep over Cleveland. Brunson averaged 25.5 assists per game, earning Eastern Conference Finals MVP honors. He delivered multiple signature playoff performances during this run, including a 38 point Game 1 performance against Cleveland that helped swing the series obviously early in their favor. With the Knicks reaching the Finals for the first time in 27 years, Brunson is driving some of the biggest momentum and hobby attention in the basketball. Right now all of his cars as tracked by market movers are up 25.9% over the last 30 days on 277 different cars with 1200 different sales. And I gotta say, I'm not a New York sports fan. They've obviously had success. You know, the Yankees have, they've been there. But you're talking about a city that had a lot of success over the years and has kind of been through it and struggled and watched their arch rival nemeses in Boston and even in LA experience a ton of success over the last 20 plus years. So I'm happy for you New York fans, I'm happy for you Knicks fans. I have a lot of friends who are Knicks fans and they made that big swing to go get Kat and move away some other players like Randle and Divincenzo and it's paid off even if they lose the series. We'll see. Let me know, do they stand a chance against. Well, we're recording this right now on Thursday, so I don't actually know if the Thunder closed out the spurs or who it's going to be. But you let me know, do they stand a chance in the finals. But we're looking at Brunson's cards here. His PSA 10 donruss. This is Wild Donrus base paper. Brunson up to $196. This card is up 227%. It's pop 397. Brunson does not have a lot of stuff graded in spite of the fact that he's been really good. If you look at the POP counts on his stuff compared to Luka, especially even Trae Young SGA. Anybody else from this 2018 class, it's much, much lower. He was a former second round draft pick that kind of came out of nowhere and has become a phenom. Here's his optic shock Raw. That card's up 55%. Actually had a dipped sale, maybe that was damaged, who knows. But that was at seven bucks. But that card, you can still get one of those. They're cool looking cards at $26. Then you've got a silver prism. Raw. I love the image behind the back passing it. That is one that I like as like a staged photo shoot photo. I always like those. That one's at $124. Raw up 220%. I'd rather have a raw copy of that in a one touch than I would this Downris base paper. But that's just me. And then we've Got his Bowman anime. So this is a more recent card, obviously not a Rookie out of 2025. Bowman. That card just recently sold, had a sale for $1,225. We're seeing, you know that you could have gotten it at 690, 680, 690 at the beginning of May. So that one's up 34% but really up quite a bit more from those handful of sales that happened lower. And then these cards are also really cool. I like the three, the action shop, the kind of candid one and the emotion. These are really nice cards. I need to pick one up of a player but this is the raw version of the glass canvas out of Tops Chrome from this last year. Top stepping up their insert game and this most recently sold for $185. That card is up 42.3% over the last month. Brunson, a fun player to watch, talented scorer and we'll see what the Knicks do in the finals. So let me know what you think down below. He's our number three hot card of this week. All right. At number two, we're switching over to Major League Baseball. It's Jacob Misurowski, the starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. Misarowski emerged as one of the most dominant young pitchers in baseball last season with like an over kind of controversial All Star game nod that some people thought he hadn't pitched enough to earn. But this guy is unbelievable. Like shades of Randy Johnson type stuff. Overwhelming hitters with elite velocity, strikeouts, kind of, I don't know. You Compare him to deGrom, Pedro anybody. It's ridiculous. His stuff is nasty. His velocity is higher than anybody we've seen in a starting pitcher consistently. And in his latest outing against St. Louis, he struck out 12 batters across seven innings while throwing 57 pitches over 100 miles per hour. That it sets an MLB record for the most 100 mile per hour plus pitches in a game. He currently owns a 1.83 ERA with 100 strikeouts through 11 starts, becoming the first pitcher in baseball to reach that 100 strikeout milestone this season. All of his cards as tracked by market movers are up 14.9% collectively over the last 30 days on 114 different cards totaling 496 starting. And you can see movement all the way up. Here's Mizorowski. This is his Bowman Chrome draft picks. Auto Raw. Bowman first of course. And man. Anytime you see pitchers with the way their arm just cocks back before they're going to release makes my Elbow hurt just doing that in my shoulder. But you can understand why surgery's happened to a lot of guys. Let's hope it doesn't happen to Miz. So this card was $210 on May 2nd. Now it sold for $350. That's up 66.6% over the last month. Here's his Bowman Sapphire. First raw. That one's up 267%. He could have snagged one of those bad boys for a little over 20 bucks a month ago, and now it's up to $80. Actually peaked up at $88 just a couple days ago. Home field advantage. Very popular cards. These have kind of taken off. We got wheat and cinder blocks here, it looks like. So I guess to make the beer. I don't know. I don't know what this is really telling me. If you know Milwaukee better than I do, let me know what all that stuff is signifying. But you got him this card up to 200 bucks, up 37.9%. And then lastly, here's his real one autograph. Definitely a kind of cult favorite. A lot of people, myself included, really love the real one autos. This one's up 56.8%. So you could have snagged that for $158 raw a month ago. And now this is up to $248. Do the spurs push it to seven or are the Thunder going back to the finals? I don't know, you know, I'm sure. But either way, our number one is Victor Wembanyama, arguably the hottest athlete, the hottest cards on planet earth right now. He's making his case and fighting his way into the Ohtani conversation for which athlete is kind of going to be the one that people are losing their minds over. And speaking of losing their minds, well, one person in a private deal brokered by fanatics collect. They did not think they were losing their mind on this 5.1 million dollar sale. That is the highest prism sale. That is the fourth highest, I believe basketball card sale recorded history. The infamous black curtain with the prism black one of one border, PSA 10 condition. We talked about this sale in particular a couple days ago. You would have seen cards on the table on Thursday night. And what a big sale. Somebody put some big money. It's interesting to see that because his nebula sold for $860,000 and then his Prism Black Shimmer sold for $516,000. So that's a big boy purchase. Obviously, Wemby, he's just continued to dominate. He's had a fantastic postseason. You see why people think he's the face because it's almost like he hasn't even scratched the surface. And in my opinion, this is my advice to you, Victor, if you're listening, I know you do like cards a little bit. Maybe you're watching this top five to see that we're celebrating you right now. Go to the post, stay inside. Don't be outside as much. Don't shoot threes as much. You don't need to. This guy, Victor, you could become the next Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the next unstoppable force on the post. Nobody can stop the turnaround or the skyhook or these other types of shots. So get that low post game and score at a 75% rate from the post. And that's going to outmatch a 35% three point shooting in terms of the points to the team. So that's my pep talk. If you're a Spurs fan, let me know what you think of that. In Game 4 against Oklahoma City, Wemby posted 36 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks, taking over defensively while leading them to a crucial win. He did not play as well in game five, which was actually one of his worst games in quite some time off the court. Wembanyama's market really has reached historic territory with this sale and so many other. I mean you can just scroll down the list. This is sales history and market movers. You see this green kaboom. Which is not a rookie card. Half a million dollars. We know about this one. We know about this one. Many half. Many, many, many, many six figure cards. Anything of note going for six figures. This, this isn't a rookie card. This is a gold auto numbered to 50 without even the auto grade. It's just a PSA 10 on card, auto number, serial number 20 of 50. This card sold for $192,000. I mean I personally I'd rather have his rookie card here for 192,000. But in any event, lots and lots and lots of big sales happening with Wemby. And we're going to look at some more of his cards here, see how much they've been going up. So here's his PSA 10 prism base. 27,000 of these bad boys in PSA 10 condition. And look at this spike this price jump. So $379 most recent sale. Just a month ago, this card was $256. That's up 47.9%. This Prism Silver, there's 5,100 of these in PSA 10 condition. You saw it here, it was at 2,600 and then it spiked up pretty big to 3,500. While the most recent sale was back closer to 3,000. So that one's up just 6% over the last month. But there's a little more volatility. Here's his pink ice. That one's at $1,100. $1,146, up 127%. His tops now print run 72,000, but only 12,297 PSA 10s. That card is up 25.7% over the last month. And then lastly, here's just a non rookie 2025, first year back, Topps Chrome raw. 41 bucks for this Raw. That's pretty remarkable considering there have been 414 of these sold in the last month tracked by market movers. So Wemby, he's been super hot. Like I said, it seems like he's scratching the surface. He's got so much potential defensively. He's already the best defensive player in the NBA by a landslide right now. It's going to be really tough if he's healthy for seasons to come. For anybody else to take that award away from him, it's like shades of Hakeem and Dikembe Mutombo. He does it all. He's just an absolute force. And if he continues to increase his points per game and even his playmaking ability a little bit, gosh, it's the ceiling is unbelievable for Wemby. So he's number one.
