All right, partially solo show today. Jesse's still out of town for the weekend. I've got a. I have Boston Cardinal, though, my buddy Nick joining. One of the most fun things, we rarely do this, but I did text him last week, even before that pod, let him know, hey, we're gonna take a shot at you. Because I know he's got a freakishly loyal audience that would blow up the clip and go crazy with engagement. And then our guys would fight back, which was awesome. So it was a little bit of clickbait rage bait that we went after him a little bit. But he, he knows too. He's going to come on and speak a little bit about his. Him going after PSA and, and then more importantly, kind of the grading landscape going forward, I guess we'll, we'll talk about. I also mentioned a couple other topics. I'm curious if you'll want to jump into him. He did a pretty good piece about like protecting kids at card shows. Apparently there was like some predator who got a table somehow and this whole, this whole story kind of blew up. This was kind of all when I was out of town, in and out of the group. So we didn't talk about on here yet. I do want to talk a little bit. As you can tell, my voice is going to go on. It's like I'm 12 again. There will be multiple voice cracks. I've been slamming Mucinex since I've been back home. So brain is foggy, but that's nothing new. But yeah, that's why the voice sounds absolutely terrible. And then just crushing. Tropical vibe Celsius. So if you take Benadryl, but you chase it with a tropical vibe Celsius and then third round, the next act is. Is Mucinex, you feel much better. So that's what's on the docket for today. And apple cider vinegar, by the way, phenomenal. I don't know what it is, aside from just those two ingredients, but it's great. I'm going to start. I'm gonna do a couple minutes just solo before we get him in. The Wemby take I had a few weeks ago. I sold my Wemby think it was about a week ago today for 30 when 2023 Prism Silver PSA 10 WEMBY rookie sold it for 3300 cash, which is about the same. I've got my massive calculator here. Hang on a second. So 3,300 times. Let's go. 1.13. If you pay 13% on eBay, it's the same as $3,729. And anytime we do these takes like that. Right. By the way, the reason I did that was not to say, hey, I'm the smartest guy in the room, or, hey, everybody should do what I do. I told you what I was doing, because I don't feel like enough guys are honest about it. I feel like the only thing you hear from content guys now is, oh, I bought at the absolute lowest because I'm super smart. And then I had the highest comp ever because, again, I'm the smartest guy in the room. Not everybody's the smartest person all the time. Period. It just doesn't happen. So my thing was I bought that thing for 1900 bucks and in trade about a month ago, and I was able to almost double my money. No brainer to me. Absolute no brainer. And then people, it was like, well, Wemby's gonna do this number one. I don't care that Wemby. I'm glad they won. I wanted the spurs to win. I hate okc. That flopping brand of basketball is disgusting to me. I was trying to speak to a bigger point in the hobby of if you get caught waiting, and you're always the guy waiting for the biggest comp, the highest comp, I'm gonna keep waiting. A lot of times, more often than not, you get burned. So my point was, I'm happy all day to take the win. Almost always. Is that card gonna be worth more at some point? Sure. Just to be clear, by the way, right now, it's not. You can go online. I. I have ebay up right now. There's one at 36.50, one at 3750, one at 3800. All buy it now. That's essentially the exact same money. If he goes crazy in the finals and MSG and they win, does it go up a little bit? Sure. I. I still don't think these things are going to 5, 000 bucks. I don't think they're going that much higher. And my point was, hey, if you have a sure win and you're going to just take the money and buy the next thing and just keep the snowball rolling, do that. And again, let's go back to when I said it. When I said that last week, they were down 3, 2. So the odds were again, the odds, not my emotion or sentimentality about a team that they were not going to win two in a row against OKC and he wasn't going to make the finals. I'm still happy with the decision. And if those cards go even up to 4,500, fine. I just think more often than not, people hold it. For every one example of hey, I took a shot and held a guy even though he was really high, I held it and went higher. I mean you could provide 5,879 examples of guys who did the exact opposite. Look at all the guys that held Luka years ago because Luke was going to keep going up. Giannis, he's on this trajectory. He's never coming down. Even Joker right now, which is wild. But his market has come down since they got knocked out of the playoffs. There's examples every single year in every single sport. The only exception right now being Ohtani. For modern athletes, Ohtani is an entire exception to the rule. And by the way, if you sold them two years ago for a crazy profit, I don't fault you for that either. Good for you. Because again, Acuna was doing that Guy had a 3070 season. He was going to be the next guy. He was going to be unbelievable. It was amazing. You can't go wrong with Acuna. Look what happened Soto, by the way, a couple years Soto was this up and coming and he's younger and we started seeing the young stats compared to even like the Ted Williams. He's his exit velocity. And hey, he also did this stuff at such a young age. And there were these unbelievable comparisons. He wins a World Series, it's all well and fine. Look where Soto's market is now. Again, I'm not saying this even as a victory lap more so just I'm okay leaving a little bit of the top end money on the table because I think there's almost always. And I'm also not going to care if next Week. His Prism Silver is more expensive. My point was again, hype is such a price mover. Hype is more important to values and price than anything else in this market. In the card world, the hobby, the industry, whatever you want to call it that when you can take wins, I think you should take them. And if you just continually do that, you're going to be fine. I would also put my resume of flipping singles and doing that up against nearly anybody's. Now granted there are some guys like, hey, I held Ohtani since 2018 and now it's worth so much more. Good. I flipped 89000 cars between now and then and done pretty well also. So there's more than one way to be successful and good at this. I just think, especially with young guys like that and with cards specifically. I was selling his Prism, his Don Russ's Hoops. The only big card, relatively big card was the Prism Silver. Wendy, My overall point was this is a young kid, he's proven nothing yet. I'm still not entirely sold on him staying healthy. And if he breaks his wrist tomorrow, it's going to be terrible. But even let's go flip side, he doesn't. He wins a championship. I don't think the upside is that much better than the absolute guaranteed. So that was kind of my point with the Wemby thing. Allen, you look like you want to contest this. No, I agree with your points of what you're saying, but. And I'm always team Wemby here, but this is, this feels different. And I've covered the NBA for 25 years. This feels different in the sense of he's 22 years old. Tim Duncan was 22 years old the first time he won his championship in the Garden as well. And I'm gonna play out the Garden scenario for a moment, right? The hype of New York. I just look at it as at 22 years old and where the card market in general is going. If you were to put hold on to this guy, how does he not? I mean, he's got a 15 year window. We know he's not Greg Odin. We know he's not Sam Bowie. We know he's not going to be one of these big men that just sits on the shelf because he takes good care of himself. How do you not see this going, doubling, tripling in the next five to six years? Maybe it will. Maybe it will. And I'm all about taking your losses, right? You made a profit. My grandfather used to always tell me, take a profit, get out when you can but you the comparisons between him and Otani are incredible that the parallels are so incredible that I think he truly is one of the few guys that has actually succeed over over hyped. It's not even in the vocabulary. He's still going to keep going bigger and bigger in my opinion. If I'm sitting on that, I hold on to it for at least another five to 10, 10 years because I just I'll buy it this summer. That's my point. I'll buy it in July, at the end of July for less money than I saw. I I would almost guarantee no matter what happens in the finals, I can buy that car July or August for less than I sold it for. And that's what taking the sure win. Now let's say they got knocked out game seven by the way let's say the the app the worst happened. I could buy that card today for cheaper. So I've got the win no matter what. And I think in the next two months I can still buy it cheaper than I sold it. And the Otani stuff is nuts because Ohtani has three, four MVPs already. Ohtani has comparisons to only Babe Ruth and he has a track record already. He's first ballot. If he does nothing tomorrow. Wemby has played one complete season. But, but I, I look at it as Otani is going to win a Cy Young this year with his ERA 0.89. Like if you look at the things he's doing are things we've never seen before and that's Wemby. We've never seen a 7 foot 5 guy do a crossover step back three pointer. Right. So yeah, but what's the lasting relevance of that? That he has to add accomplishments? I think he will. It's just it takes a lot to get anywhere near that level. I'm with you. I just think Wemby is just an anomaly unlike anything we've ever seen. So again, you're, you're the expert. That's my separation though that by the way, sports wise, I don't disagree. If I was starting a team tomorrow, I think I would take Wemby number one. He is not as good a player as Joker right now. I don't even think he's as good a player as SGA right now. All things being considered. Although he's probably close. I would take him number one to start a team. But I've seen this in the card world. We get so amped up and excited and then we just lose. Like guys move on so quickly to the next biggest and brightest thing. Well, let me, let me ask you the flip side. On the Knicks side, are you seeing a huge spike because it's New York and people are buying hype because New York is back and all that. I mean, to me, social media has just blown the Knicks way out of the water. Jalen's still relatively cheap compared. Like that same card of Jalen Brunson is a thousand bucks. Maybe I'll double check it. But like his prison psi 10 Silver's about a thousand dollars. A quarter of Wemby little. Little over a quarter of the Bryce. But Brunson's another guy. I would argue he's known for flopping and whipping his head back. And what move are kids in the. Like, what makes him super popular? Nothing. He's not. He's gonna say there are plenty comps to Bronson, right? Plenty of cops, easily. Yeah, I, I just think that the overhype with the. Nick, look at, look at the seat prices, right? Cheapest seats now for games three and four. Three. $200,000 for courtside seats. I mean the overhype is insane. Yeah. It's funny, the card market has not seen. And Brunson's wild because Brunson already also had that huge come up moment because he goes from being a Nothing pick in 2018, goes to the Mavs, doesn't do anything there and then he gets traded and absolutely blows up the last couple years. So I also think like now if they win the series though, Brunson has crazy upside down. No, I don't think the Vegas odds were pretty heavy initially. I don't think they've changed much today. I think. Okay. I mean I think the spurs are still a pretty big favorite in Vegas to win the series. Like I think the over under is like five and a half games. What any other value plays? I'm just curious beyond Wemby and Brunson on either team because you've got all these young stars and Castle and guys like that. Yeah. So. So here's one that's weird. We just sold this card too. I pulled a card last week for a guy, my buddy Nick, he ripped the box live on, on ebay Live. Actually ripped a box of Cosmic basketball. We pulled a red auto of Dylan Harper, number 2 of 10 jersey number, red auto. I posted up on Facebook just to field offers. We got like five thousand, six thousand dollar offers. I say, hey, he didn't want to take it. I actually didn't disagree. We sent it in, we sent it to D.C. sports. I still can sign all my big stuff there. That card sold last night for $10,025. Guys are unbelievably so. If you're telling me, hey, you can't buy Wemby and you can't buy Brunson, who else are you buying? I think the biggest upside. Dylan Harper's the next maybe. I mean, to me, Castle is the next best player of anybody on either roster. I would rather have Castle. Castle is a good market already though. And Castle is a number two. Like when you have a superstar like Wemby that is so overshadowing. I. I don't like. I don't think there's any world in which the spurs win that championship and Wemby's not the MVP and just the best player on the court. I love that nugget about Dylan Harper because to me, he's the type of guy that he's never going to be able. He's never going to get that spot because Castle's always going to be that guy. So is he going to end up being one of the guys like has to go somewhere else and to make his. To make it like a Brunson. He wasn't going to do it in Lucas back court. I. I literally said. I was talking. I could see Dylan Harper being the. The starting all star guard for the Brooklyn Nets in five years. Right. I mean, that's the other thing too. There's so many guys. It's the air. I mean, de' Aaron Fox would go off Vassal Castle, Dylan Harper, Keldon Johnson Champagne or whatever the guy's name. So many other guys who could be the number two there now. The only other one that stands out to me. And it's just weird because he's a big. And people hate bigs in the hobby but who play like bigs. Wemby's a big, but he plays like a guard. It's weird is Cat, but Cat's been in the league like 10, 12 years at this point. He would have to really go crazy and the storyline would have to be Cat outplace Wemby. If he does something wild like that though, when they win the series, I think Kat could have a huge increase, but I'm reluctant to buy anybody. I think Cat and de' Aaron Fox are two guys that have already peaked. They're. They've already played their best basketball in their career. I don't think either one of them gets any bigger than they already are. I think they've already hit their. They've both been all stars at one Point. I agree. I think. I think both those guys are starting the down slope of their careers. But this would be the matchup. If Kat outplayed Wemby for five games and they won the series, people would go absolutely nuts for him. But, yeah, I wish. I wish the Knicks had Mitchell Robinson. I think that'd be such a. That'd be massive for them. He kills him offensively, but he's huge for him defensively. So four or five. Four or five fouls pick up. I mean, you. You bang that body around on. On Wemby, and OG Is going to be big like OG they showed us the couple matchups this year. He was super physical with Wemby. Plays tough. Yeah. So I think. But again, I'm not. There's nothing OG can do where I'm buying OG out of newbie cards. There's Jalen Brunson on the Knicks and maybe Carl Anthony Towns, because even if he doesn't, if they don't win, he's probably. You know, it's weird. He's probably a Hall of Famer when it's all said and done. Who? Cat. Cat. If he plays. Dude, look at the NBA hall of Fame. If he plays another five or six years, he's probably getting in the hall of Fame, which is pathetic. I don't like it, but probably he's gonna. I mean, look at DeMar DeRozan. He's gonna go in. I know, but DeMar DeRozan just. And I don't agree that DeMar DeRozan belongs in hall of Fame. You know, me either. But look at the guys in the hall of Fame. I know he's gonna end like, top. I mean, Amari Stoudemar is going to the hall of Fame based on what? Amari St. Going into the hall of Fame and that. And Sodom. I had a much higher peak, but that's what I mean. Like, at least with Anthony Towns, it's a name. It's probably a Hall of Famer. So how many guys remember. Okay, and then I. By the way, the Cat win a championship in college. Wasn't he on one of those big Kentucky or Duke teams or something? He was on Kentucky. He didn't win a championship. But I will say what's interesting about the hall of Fame, this is one thing to keep in mind. People don't realize basketball, not NBA. Thank you. And that's why Horford is the first ballot hall of Famer, by the way. Right, right. Al Horford, but. Right. But I'm going to tell you right now, if the Knicks win the championship, Brunson is a Hall of Famer because of what he did at Villanova. Like, people aren't even thinking about Villanova. Okay, right. So he won at that level. I mean, I'm not saying Josh Hart is a Hall of Famer because he won a Villanova, but Brunson is a Hall of Famer, and our guest is here, so I'm going to jump out. So, Nick, I was. I said earlier I was on your live show, there is nothing. I don't do it often because when we do it, I like to make sure it's going to have some good ripple effects. I think it could be categorized as rage bait or clickbait or what do you call that Last week, my little. My little sh. End of the pod. That was. That was a little bit of me in there, man. I mean, that's what I do. I was very proud of you. You Miyagi me. You know, it's amazing when your reel gets more comments than likes. That's how you know you really rage baited correctly. By the way, our I. I don't say this often because I don't pay a whole lot of attention to our Instagram or any of that stuff. Our Instagram. The last couple weeks with the PSA stuff has been ridiculous. And that one, I'm trying to think it was. Oh, well, my Webby takes smash moment takes a couple hundred thousand now because people think I'm stupid, which is. They're just foolish. Let me see the Nicky one. Yeah, 60k, not bad. I, like, was good to poke fun. Comments. Dude, 470 likes, 406 comments. And 406 comments is a little nuts. Like, you're welcome. You're. You're a polarizing figure. So Nat and I exchanged a bunch of emails. These are all facts. Like Nat and I, he's been on my old channel a couple times and we exchanged emails. I don't know, four or five emails, something like that, before the Beckett acquisition went down. And I was kind of in a good place and he gave me a senior executive to kind of field issues with. I met with him, I liked him. And Ryan I've had more dialogue with. So like I did content with him at the national last year and we DM Ryan Hogue, the president. Ryan Hogue, Yep. And we had been actually reaching a point where I'd get an issue, I go to Ryan, Ryan would fix it. And so to their credit, they did a lot of things right there. And also I do respect both of them quite a bit as, you know, businessmen and executives, where I went off the handle. I'm a Bostonian, man. I get mad at something and I get triggered. So my friend Jim Jeffries, he's a comedian, he's new to the hobby. The dude gets a PSA one on a card that's like an 8 to 8 to a 10 on whatever given day, you know, And I was just baffled. I'm like, I don't understand. And, you know, I hit up Ryan, he's like, it's probably fat fingered or whatever. And then it came back in eight after the head grader looked at it and we were just thinking it was like a 010 type of thing. And it was a 10. And that was. I was just like, I said to, to Ryan, I was like, can you please understand how this could be very confusing for a noob, you know what I mean? And I didn't understand the rate of clerical errors at the time because it had never been published until they came on your pod and actually stated it was. Man, it was low. It was actually pretty low.001 or something like that. Yeah, exactly. Which is pretty damn good in manufacturing, by the way. I like them coming on here. So. So again, they're a sponsor of the show. And then you know what happens when you do content, man? People started reaching out with stuff and I got really upset because I started getting more clerical errors. More and more. And then. We don't need to go into that because I've covered it plenty on my channel. You know, some of the other issues that were discussed, like, this was a Nick problem. This was not a higher power. Oh, God. Yeah, dude. I said it because I thought it'd be fun. I am quite independent with whatever I feel like posting on any given day. And, and this was just me personally upset about them doing that to a friend and many other people in the hobby and then trying to get other issues fixed. And then, dude, honestly, I was just like, hey, what month rhymes with psa? That's when I'm gonna do this. And I was like, oh, crap, May. That's pretty soon. I better get on this. And then I organized the boycott. That was the. We had fun poking at you at that too. Which I thought was a good time. Yeah, yeah. I mean, nothing could beat the TCG title wave. But it was not a great month of PR from me about psa. But I, I do wanna stress one more time, I like and respect Nat. Glad. A collector is the CEO and he cares a lot about this, so I have respect for him even though everybody's blocked me, which is what you're supposed to do. And the same thing with Ryan. We always had good dialogue. I never harass them. So they are welcome to email me or DM me back anytime. Yeah, yeah. And like I said, we don't always get like all the in depth stuff we want. But I do think. And you know this from working with other partners you have. And the same for us, I would rather work with the company. So when I have an issue because guys reach out to us, we just don't go public with it. Hey, this happened to my kids card or this happened in my car, to my collection, whatever. And I just call Ryan or I call one of my guys, like, hey, can we look into it? The access it grants us, I think is super beneficial. So it's a lot easier than making like 15 videos, you know, I mean, I'd rather just have them fix the problem. Yeah, but people are like, oh, why do you still show for the company? Because I. I like the company. I work with them, by the way. I think we agree on this too. I think the shutdown was the best thing, all things being considered, probably the best quality course of actually going to take. I called for that. I said, slow, please slow down so these mistakes don't happen. The only problem I will say is we didn't choose for them to take over 80% of grading. So they did, and I feel like they couldn't handle it. Now, we could say that's the TCG surprise. Sure. But we can debate that, right? How much of a surprise was this TCG curve, which is two thirds of their cards? But I. If I was there running the business, I'd probably do the same thing. Except, I mean, I might tweak a couple things. But you. You do need to slow down or shut down. Yeah. Okay. I want to dig into a few other things, but again, I. I'm glad you played along. I did think it was funny. I think some guys were really upset. Like, I was like, oh, that's the best thing is when I get people DMing me and getting mad, I'm like, yeah, like, I just texted. We get a lot of that happen, so it's fun to rile up the people. Though. There was something I have not spoken about. I. I talked about this briefly at the beginning of the show and because I. The last month, two months with. With the deaths. Two deaths in the family. I've been super on and off and just head in the clouds. You made a video about. Well, just. Just give me the premise of the whole. The guy who set up at a card show. I don't want to misspeak because this is like, I don't want to slay. Yeah. So there. There's an account in the hobby who, you know, he's. We don't exactly get along, and he's made some very strange posts that are, like, completely untrue, too, but whatever. That's. That's social media for you. He. To his credit, you know, he called out a specific person. I'm not gonna get into, like, the names here. I don't want to get dragged into that. Yep. You can go see this guy's stuff. He, you know, he called out a person. He was a registered sex offender at a card show. He did a deal with Jeff Wilson. Jeff had no idea who this guy was, but he was there. And there's accusations that he snuck in with a different id. There wasn't enough security to vet him and so on. He was exhibiting at a card show with miners everywhere. And even though I didn't get along with this guy, I unblocked him, I shouted him out in a video and I. This cardboard life. That's what you're talking about? This cardboard life? Yeah, he hates me, too. He's. I. I'm pretty sure we blocked him. If not, I would. Yeah, I blocked him again because I tried to help him. I mean, playing Pantera and posting an angry square only gets you so far. You. You actually have to operationalize things like. And so I was actually trying to do that in my video and work with him, but then he just posted other weird stuff about me again. So I blocked him again. Yeah, No, I just want to at least give him the shout out here. I don't think we've ever mentioned. So that. That's who. I was sent that originally. Someone sent me that. And then your reaction to the. To the. Or your response to his. Right. And so I. I basically said, good job. You know, if you want to work with me on this, I can open my platform to you. That open. And that invite's still there. If he wants to come on a live or, like, do a video with me or something like that about. I'm down. Because it's easy to yell about the problem. It's much more difficult to operationalize it, which is different by state. You have to convince the show promoter to do it. There's going to be a cost and a delay associated with it. I, by the way, am. For all of this. I actually do think, you know, what does it cost you to get into a card show? 5 bucks, 3 bucks? 15 on the high end, right? Yeah. So what if it costs 20 show in two weeks, there's going to be 10,000 people there. It's going to be $6 to get in. Yeah. Yeah. So like charge 10 and have a scanner. The thing is, it's easier to get the vendors vetted. It's much more difficult to get the crowd vetted. Some states just won't even allow it. Some will. But I think vendors, you could. Right. There's something you could potentially do with vendors require id, I would assume. Right. Yeah. We've got to at least explore it. Right? Like, at least, you know, just you can background check your vendors. That's not a terribly Difficult thing to do. You're not going to be able to background check everybody in line, though. And so there needs to be a different way. You can use facial recognition in some states, I believe Florida. You can. And I think they should, man. Like, my son and I, you know, we were. We were selling at a TCG show in Boston, and, you know, I started thinking about, like, can I go let him get a hot dog? You know, just like basic things. I shouldn't have to think that way, man. You know, So I agree with him. That was a messed up situation. And I think. I think we should all do better and, like, as show promoters and influencers and everything, we should make this a safer place for kids. Yeah. I will say I'm. Like I said, admittedly, we're weeks and weeks behind this. Jeff came out and made a video. I did think it was crap that people. How would like. And again, I'm. No, I'm not a fan of Jeff and I'm not a friend of Jeff. Yeah, you have no. I guarantee a million other people in the hobby have made deals with people like that. That. Oh, yeah, how would you know? You can't, like, shake his hand and be like, oh, I know. Yeah, you caught him. Yeah, I did think that. Now if he features him in a video when they're like, talking or something. Sure. That's not to say everybody else is off the hook. I think, I think vendors, at the very least, let's find a way to make sure they're vet vendors is the easiest one. That's. And I'm good with that. Yeah, the crowd thing, I don't think there's a reasonable answer for that right now. Yeah, I mean I'd love to hear how we do it and we do it in a way where people can still get in quickly. But I just don't know. You know, we had to talk about it more, think about it more. Yep. You know, and that's a good topic to bring up though. Like we weren't shying away from it, hiding from it. I just hadn't heard it. And then somebody blew me up with the cardboard life Post your video, Jeff's reaction video and then a couple just accusatory videos. Look who Jeff's dealing with. If you're gonna bring your kid to a public place, it's on you to protect. There is personal responsibility for sure. Yeah. No question. Other thing I want to jump in with too. So we opened the show with this as well. I don't want to rehash the whole thing. I am, I have become way more a short term guy with a lot of the stuff we're seeing. Like you've made videos about the Pokemon arcs. There's other arches like that happening with sports guys now. And the same thing. I just think there's way more safety in taking sure wins than trying to say hey wembanyama. But specific is who I'm talking about. Like I think if you have something that's not a crazy rare lifetime hold type of piece, you should sell it right now. Something super high end, crazy rare, hard to get. Do whatever you want. But I am curious, like where we're at in the sports market. You look at the same numbers. What are you doing with guys who are peaking right now? I would definitely consider selling because I'm always the, you know, bears make money, bulls make money and pigs get slaughtered. And it's like once you've reached a certain point, you know, it's time to cash out a little bit or at least talk about it. You know, like, we're up big. My son and I built the first edition Pokemon set. I know this is a sports cartoon years ago. Right. We. We start. Actually, I did it last February, man. And that set is 5x now. And I go to my son, I'm like, all right, what do you want to do? You want to sell this thing and consolidate into like sixes because it's all nines and tens, the base set. And he's like, no, I just want to keep it forever. And I think that's a good lesson. So your timeline is what matters. So if you're keeping this forever, then, you know, who cares? See what happens right now if you need this money in the next year. Oh, yeah. You need to sell that right now for sure. Yeah, yeah. Like, my other thing is, like, with the Wemby play now again, I think the only person I think is exempt from this is Ohtani. I think he's a total exception to the rule of living of active modern players. Other than that, though, I do. I look at a lot of these guys and even Wemby do. I think Wemby's going to be an all time great. Yeah. But if next year the thrombosis comes back and it's some weird blood thing and he's out or he breaks a wrist, I don't want to be caught in that position. I just don't. And I think there's way more examples of that happening than the opposite. Like, I think there's way more guys who we said, oh, they're going to be unbelievable. Like, Luca is a hobby failure compared to what he was four years ago. Yeah. And he's a great player. Top five MVP candidate. That's boring. Total hobby failure right now. Yeah. Wemby's priced perfectly. Wemby is priced in like a three time Finals MVP winner. Yeah. And he may get there and that's awesome. Sure. Good for the sport and it's good for the hobby. But if he's already priced that way, the upside's limited, in my opinion. The other thing too, is he not only is he priced like that, he's also priced like the market is going. So let's say in seven years from now, he's got two MVPs and two finals, two championships. Fantastic. But what if the market's in a totally different place? Like, yeah, we're approaching like Covid level pricing and above in some cases. I just encourage people with all assets just do you need. When do you need the money? Is it 20 years? Five years? Right now. And if the answer's right now, you sell it. If the answer is one year, you sell it. If the answer is five years, you have to think a little harder. Yeah. Maybe parse it out a little bit. Yeah. And this isn't binary, Mike. Like, you don't have to, like, decide on selling or buying. You may own eight Wemby cards, and you could sell six of them. Right. You know, people do that in Pokemon. Like, I'll say the rule of Pokemon with the wax. Right. Sorry. You're not supposed to call it wax sealed. You keep one, you rip one, you invest one. And it's. It's kind of interesting. Oh, no, sorry. Keep, rip, flip. That's what they do with each release. Yeah, I've kind of started saying the same thing too. I also buy cards that I'm never gonna sell. I just bought a Randy Johnson one of one auto from 2023 National Treasures, Retro Inc. Right now, I'm just missing one stupid card. George Brett. I gotta find. I'm never selling that card set. It's in a binder. Like the top load binder. I flip through it like a nerd. But I have told people, if you're in the flip game right now, there's weird pockets. Like, Jordan is a perfect example. All you hear right now is Jordan. Everything. Jordan is up. I showed these to you a few minutes ago. I'm gonna show them again because our audience didn't see it. 1998 black diamond. That's a base set. The single diamonds are just a base set. There's 100 different Jordans or whatever. 120 different Jordans. None of them are short print. Those PSA 10s, though, for some of them just haven't sold recently. Others have, and they go for 350 to $400. I tell people all the time, if you are looking to get into the flip game, number one, who are you buying? Buy guys that are liquid. Number two, what are you buying? Some of those sell for 400. These ones, I happen to happen to pick up both of them for 285 bucks when you want something crazy. I did a video about scamming in the hobby, and there was a $2 million fraud thing last year. You may have heard about it with, you know, two Guys got arrested by the southern district of New York and they were found guilty. And what were they going after? They were going after Brady Bird, Magic, Jordan. And it's like if that's what's liquid man. And that's, that's exactly what you should be going for. Now this stuff around the edges, obviously, and I love 90s inserts in general. I think that's just something awesome to own. They're beautiful cards. It was like a new era. So I think it's, you know, I think that's a good play. Yeah. And again, I just think there's pockets. Like sometimes you look, oh, Jordan stuff is all up. Well, wait a minute. These ones aren't. But they should be. Like, I'm going to sell those on ebay live either this Sunday or next. I'm going to guess they go for close to 300 bucks a piece. There's no recent comps and Jordan stuff is up. I know I'm an autograph geek, but I've got something just. I'm going to encourage your audience. Autographs are a way to add value and hedge against things. So like this is a. For those on audio, it's a 1980 triple auto. I got Dr. J and Magic. This is a very minty card. I gotta get Larry all in. You know, assuming the grade pans out, that is a good card to have long term, in my opinion, you know. Absolutely. And you add value. Parts of it are usually cheaper than the price, depending on the grade. Oh yeah, because like I was just telling you, the 810 is the version I want. I've got a 5, a PSA, it's actually right behind. Yeah, I had a 10. It wasn't good enough for me. So I'm assembling hopefully something that's like an 810 or, or higher. We shall see. Yeah, the 810 is a card. If I buy, I'm never selling. Just like the PSA 9 unsigned version of that card. But in 50 years that has 3 like all time top 25 or maybe even top 15 goats on it. It's like. But the problem is now though, I, I think there's going to be an opportunity in the next two or three years to buy it way cheaper. They're so high right now. I'm just waiting. Well, they're charging a lot more money. Larry charges a thousand. They're no dummies. Magic charges a thousand. Like they not. Yeah, you're in a few thousand bucks with grading and like the PSA 9's a wild card. Like I have that in my collection. I bought that at the Fanatics Fest show last year. Nice. I gotta pull this up real quick because this is a wild card. You got a nine of the triple auto. Not the auto, just a nine. Just the card itself. Yeah, don't, don't crack that and have that. Take six trips across the country. No, no, no, no, I'm not. I never would. And I can't afford a 10. So I'm trying to think though. I've got, oh, 10's like half a million or more, I bet. Yeah, it's a great card. But I got that card. I traded my PSA 8 for it. The PSA 8 I bought way back in the day for $792. It was nothing. Wow. I'm trying to. I'm literally scrolling my card ladder collection. Yeah, it's a great card. I mean it's also fun too. Like Dr. J still signs in public so you can get that one in person and meet. Meet Dr. J and then the other two do private magic and Larry. But it's kind of. It's like a fun project, you know. So I bought this card for 135 last year. Just. Oh, just. Just under a year ago. Fanatics fest. Since then, 20,022 grand. Car letter value is 2300. Now that's long term PC, right? Never selling them. Yeah. I mean something goes wrong in life or whatever, we finally get the show canceled. Sure. But that's how I view that auto as well. So. Yeah, like that card is spiked. Like the Wemby has spiked recently. Yep. I don't need the money and I don't ever want to sell that card. No problem holding it. But those are also like you just said, three all time greats. It's not going anywhere. It's a safe card. Yeah, I just. There's. Yeah, there's. There's other cards I look at in my collection. There's some Griffey stuff though. I look at. I'm like, man, this stuff is going through the roof. I almost start to think it's worth selling. But I love Griffey, so I'm like, yeah, I'm probably not gonna. Yeah, it all depends. Time horizon, risk tolerance, age, all that stuff. It's not just a blanket statement for somebody, you know. Yeah, exactly. So, yeah, I think it's interesting. I'm just gonna open this up real quick. I get something way off the beaten path, like Mr. B style. It'd be a warehouse. This office is about how big the area would be with wax. And I would do events, I would do tournaments, I would do car shows, trade nights, all that stuff. I'd have a breaking room with media, all that make money on singles. And it would be a grading submission hub. And that grading submission hub, you just have everybody come from all over the world. And all of that will be like a flywheel. They're doing an event. You know, that's. That's like another angle at this. You should cut a check. We should do. We should do something. Nashville. I've been talking with us for a while and I'm always. He is a defensive player, so there's a ceiling on his hobby value. But the Rams are pretty like the Rams, what, the NFC championship game last year, Right. Didn't they lose to Seattle in the championship? Yep. And they're already odds on favorite to go to the super bowl in Los Angeles. And he gets a reigning mvp. Right? Reigning MVP and reigning. Now you have the defensive player of the year coming off a record 23 sack season. And that's the one thing he's never been is on a relevant team. I would buy his stuff again, though. Actually, I say that I would wait a couple weeks, let that because people will go crazy with the news. If you can find buy it nows and stuff still listed, there's always a little bit of a lag. Buy it right now. But in general, his stuff's going to peak for like the next week. But it's, it's June 1st. We have like a month and a half before preseason. Two months. I, I would still give it a little bit of time because the hype will die down. But I would absolutely invest in that guy. Here's the other reason I like it. There's upside because he's going to a new situation, a new team, it should be a very good team and he's in the prime of his career. The other thing is what if that position all of a sudden gains value? Like back in the day, the pitch, it didn't matter. Any pitcher had a super low ceiling and then schemes happen and now pitchers all of a sudden have a higher ceiling. Maybe this is the guy that breaks the barrier. And hey, defensive players have a new ceiling. I think there's a lot of potential upside. I would just be a little cautious as to when I buy. But to that point though, right. Coming off the greatest, arguably the greatest defensive season ever. 23 sacks NFL record defense player the year, two time defense player of the year. You're 30 years old, you're in your prime and you're going to the Super Bowl 4 favorite. So how do you, how do you warn buyers to not, like you said, overpriced right now, the hype. When's the good time to get in? Give it three or four weeks. If you think, hey, he's going to be there and be a success. It will come down like the news, the hype today. The news Today stuff's going to go crazy again. Give it another month, see where it's at. But then if he gets on field and actually produces and the team is, you know, 8 and 2 and he's got 12 sacks, this pricing is probably going to spike again in season. So. Yeah, and I think again he's, he's like, he's not Wemby. He's probably a Hall of Famer already or close to it. A little different. I feel safer buying it. I would just give the news a little bit of time if you can find it. When you hear this podcast today and guys haven't adjusted, I bet there's 5,000buy it nows of different Miles Garrett cards. This time next year, do you think the card will be 4, 6 or $8,000? I think next year that Griffey card is probably the same. About 6,000, 7,000. Part of my question is do we think we may still be at the floor for some of these goat prices? I think it's more likely that that card is closer to the ceiling. And I would go look at the Bowman card or the Bellingham that sells way cheaper as first professional. I think there's other Griffey cards that have way more growth potential over the next year. And again, I have every. I have this card, I have his Bellingham, his flare PSA 10. I've got his upper deck auto. So I'm not signed. I'm not selling any of those rookies right now. I guess. So to me, all things being equal, I would find something else to buy. I think that card is probably close to peaking for now. I think there's other things you could buy. Don Getters, our boy, our buddy mailbag vet, by the way, he says, are you, are you at all sold on Wemby being worth the long term hold yet or do you still think people should absolutely take their wins now? I think in general, 99 of people should take their wins. Unless you're holding something that's super rare. Unbelievable. Awesome card. Low numbered rookie stuff. Mercury RPAs that have like a really cool provenance. His first game is all singing, whatever. Sure, some of that stuff I think you can hold. But it doesn't matter how great he is now. My fear is always a not only short term, what if they just lose a series and go off into the off season drops 10, 20, 30%. But B what if there's a serious injury with a guy? I just think there's so much upside on the court. I just think it's a lot of risk. So in general I would sell everything that's not super low crazy low numbered rare right now don't would still be my thought. Mike Olson thoughts on the value of PSA 8:9 for the next year due to shutting down value tiers. This is weird. I could see this going either way. You know again, when they shut down before in 2021 I think it was the singles market really slowed because people a lot of flippers didn't have access to now just go and buy raw and grade so. So the market really slowed. Granted there were economic downturn as well, so that had a huge impact. But there was also, hey, I now can't get PSA nines. I'll pay more for something that's already graded. I think I lean toward, hey, we'll probably see guys just pay a little bit more right now because they can't get it. And I just think, I don't think we're near a slowdown just yet. So I think I would do that. Phil Genteel, gentile. I'm not sure how you pronounce it. Phil. Every time I buy a card now that I'm holding, I put it in there. I the date, the picture, what the card is. If it's a PSA or whatever graded card I put in the description so I get the pop count and then if I ever go and sell it so it keeps track of what I paid, what the overall gain or loss is from it. And then when I sell it, it takes it off the total. So let's say I've spent a hundred thousand even for all these cards. As I start to sell or buy, it adds to the value or takes away from the value so I can see how much I have invested, what I have left. And it has like real time updates on what the collection is worth as well as individual cards. So we've used card ladder forever.
