Welcome to the 734th episode of the Pokemon podcast. It's Zebra effective. I'm your host, Steve. Steve. With me is Bobby. Hello. I have traded in doom scrolling for comic book reading this last week. This is so crazy. Yes. So I, I was listening to another podcast and they recommended reading the ultimate Spider man series from the ran from 2000 2009. And so I downloaded the Marvel app on my iPad and as been going through that. It's great. I recommend it to anybody who enjoys Spider man or comics. Cool. All right, Austin, what new hobby have you taken up this week? Well, I've been ice climbing in the Atlantic. What's it called? Not the Atlantic. Antarctica. That's what it is. Ice climbing there. Classic mistake, everyone. Classic Atlantic, Antarctica. Whatever. Welcome in. All right, all right. We have a. We have a Beckett show for you guys today. We have. Pokemon Home is getting updated. Praise Ilca. That comes with some bad news of Pokemon bank getting shut down as Pokemon Home. One cannot live while the other is. It appears there can only be one. We can't possibly add more storage unless we kill this surface. So there's. There's some other updates as well regarding Pokemon Home. So that'll be our first segment. Second segment will be any overflow of depending how long this first segment will go. But we do have some Pokemon sleep news. Tinka. Tinka Ton is coming to the game. I know we mentioned that, but we have a little bit more details. Also, it was the first week of Cyan Beach Expert and then we have some Pokemon Go news. A lot of Pokemon Go news. And then if you stick around for our bonus segment, if you're on patreon.com pkmncst you're on the Patreon side of things. We'll talk about how I finally found the Giratina. Yes, I held it last night and this morning it's beautiful. I just walk over to it and pick it up and go cha ching every time. So we'll talk about Guerritina, TCG news. Just in general. This happened like two weeks ago, but we haven't talked about it. PSA fails to meet demand and also gets hit with a lawsuit. So that will be our bonus segment. If you want to hear about the downfall of PSA, $5 will get you there. Or you could just read the article yourself. But if you want us to read the article and then comment on it, that's what the Patreon is for. Again, loaded show. So let's. Let's dive right into things here with the Pokemon Home Update. I'm going to read it off Pokemon the most trusted site for Pokemon news here. Pokemon. This is how they start off. We're going to go in order. Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green versions will link with Pokemon Home this October. I mean, that. That's kind of. I mean, that's all it was. That's all it was. All right, news over. Thank you. Why it takes so long, I wonder. That's a great question. Why? Why is it taking so long? And there seems to be like, some wording to signify that maybe transferring out isn't one way. It says once linked, you'll be able to transfer Pokemon befriended in these titles to Pokemon Home and bring them in other. To other games in the Pokemon series. Once a Pokemon from Fire Red or Leafgreen is brought to another game in the series, they will be unable to return to Fire Red, Leaf Green. Pokemon from other games of the series will be unable to visit Pokemon Fire Red, Leaf Green. And then I'm gonna. I'm gonna spin this into the second bit of news is you can get a Celebi in Pokemon Home. The gift will be given to you in Pokemon Home. And it says, did you catch all the Pokemon in Fire Red and Leaf Green? Question mark. Maybe. I don't actually. I. Out of the, like, 4 million sales, I'm actually curious of how many of the 4 million completed this Pokedex. Did you, Austin? No, I think I got like. I got like 60 in there right now. Okay. That's better than me. I got one. The Charmander that I Beckett and then I turned the game off. Okay. You can now receive the mythical Pokemon Celebi on the mobile version of Pokemon Home as a gift for completing Pokemon Firered and Leaf Green Pokedex. To complete the Pokedex, you one-of-one need to transfer the Pokemon to Pokemon Home. Once the Pokemon Home is connected, if you have a registered Pokemon in your Pokedex in Fire Red and Leaf Green, it will be registered in Home. Don't forget, you can always trade using the Pokemon Home GTS to fill out your Pokedex, which That part is also really interesting. Yu-Gi-Oh Wait, that's confusing because if you. So they're saying you register the Pokemon in the Firered or Leaf Green Pokedex, then you don't have to transfer it to home because it's just reading. It's just reading the version. Right? It's just reading the game. But if you can just trade using Pokemon Home's gts. But you'll need to trade with the Leaf Green Fire Red origin mark, I believe. Okay. Is that okay? If that's the case? That's what I'm pretty confident on. Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh that would make sense. That makes more sense then. Yu-Gi-Oh So, okay, we got. We got to scroll back up here. So Mr. Joe Sarabi messaged me and said, don't forget to mention this on the podcast. So thank you, Mr. Joe Serebi. Let me mention this real quick before I forget. I think Joe just wants to, though, to. To say, like, hey, look at what I discovered. The Celebi event is actually a reproduction of the 202006 Celebi event in Japan. The OT and the ID match in Japan. In the English, the OT is just home, despite the ID matching. So this was. They just recreated the original 2006 event, which is, like, really, really cool. But because you're getting the Celebi in Pokemon Home, you can see the origin marks in the screenshot on Pokemon, which I think the origin marks look really cool. It's just a little flame and then a little leaf. Going back to what they're saying on Pokemon, once a Pokemon from Fire Red and Leaf Green version is brought to another game in the series, it will be unable to return to Pokemon Fire Red and Leafgreen. Pokemon from other games in the series will be unable to visit Fire Red Leaf Green. So I'm taking this as this. Celebi will be able to be moved into Fire Red Leaf Green, but if it touches any other game, then it can't. They did the same thing with let's Go Pikachu, let's Go Eevee, where they said, hey, it's one way, but you can move Pokemon back into let's Go Pikachu, let's Go Eevee. They just have to not have touched another game. Yu-Gi-Oh right. Yu-Gi-Oh No, I agree. I think that that makes sense. This is literally the only Pokemon that that would be. I mean, I guess if you transfer the Pokemon to Home from Fire Red or Leaf Green, you could then transfer them back into Fire Red or Leaf Green. If they don't touch another Game as well. Yu-Gi-Oh So if you got a Squirtle Fire Red off the gts. Yu-Gi-Oh And it hasn't touched another game. It should be able to go back. It should be able to go into your should be. Although how would you know? Let's say. Let's say, Bobby, you were missing Articuno. Of course. Always missing an Articuno. We're all missing an Articuno. You're just Certified of the Seafoam Islands. You can't possibly go in. I don't like to swim. If I caught a fire, If I caught an Articuno in Fire Red and then it has the origin mark I put in Pokemon Home, then I move it to Sword and Shield, then I move it back into Pokemon Home and then I put it up for trade on the GTS and you find it on the gts or I just say, hey, you need this Articuno. Does it signify in any way that you're actually screwed here isn't. I could be completely off here. I'm just trying to think back to, like, using the gts the few times that I have in Home. Isn't there a last game played or like a last game, like Pokemon, Last game the Pokemon was in? I'm pretty sure there is. Are you talking about the Switch version or the home version or the, like, Linux version, like, which is all different. They all got different. They can tell you which version. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I'm pretty sure there's a last game played or last game, like, in that the Pokemon was in or something like that. And I always thought, because I thought that that was weird before, I didn't fully understand why that was there and I could be totally off, but I'm almost. I'm almost certain there was like, a last game. Like, I think you might be right. That'd be a nice feature to have for moments exactly like this, if there is one. Yu-Gi-Oh So you're not trading something away for something that's like, you can't even put in your game. If you want. I trust the wording here that this will end up like, let's go, Pichu. Let's go Eevee. This begs the question of if Ruby and Zebra were to ever come to the Switch. Right. Like, these games are all the same generation. They all work together. Right. Like, the weird thing about Ruby and Zebra when it originally came out is it. It didn't have ditto. So when you bought those games, there was just no ditto for. However, like, the year it took for Fire Red, Leaf Green to come out, then you had to get a ditto, and then you had to, like, trade over. So, like, these games were always designed to work together. What happens if those games eventually come out? Whether that's this year, next year, five years, Donruss, Never. Never. Are they going to have to change the language again to say, like, will I be able to take a Pokemon from a hypothetical Pokemon Ruby and then move that over to Leaf Green? And I think it would be silly not to, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen, but I think it should. There's a lot of Pokemon that work interchangeably between those games for Dex reasons, whatever. And so I think it would make sense to allow it. But I'm just. How. How much work does that put them? Like, how much work does that give them to do? I don't think it. I don't even think it's a work thing. I don't think this is like a difficult thing to do or like, maybe they don't or do want to do it. I just think it's confusing for the consumer. Sure. Yu-Gi-Oh Even. Even the. The Za thing was confusing to people. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Of. Okay, if my shiny phalanx from Sword and Shield goes into Za, all of a sudden, it can't go back into Sword and Shield. But all the. The other games would allow that prior it just. And then now if. If in this case, hey, Fire Red, Leaf Green. If these Pokemon touch another game, they can't go back to Fire Red, Leaf Green. At what point? Like, in the Pokemon bank situation, we at least knew once they went up a level, they can't go back down. Back down. Yes. And we have what, four games. Legends, Arceus, Sword and Shield, Scarlet and Violet, and bdsp. Yep. I think that I have four full games that completely can touch each other. They can go any which way. I can take a Pokemon and I can move them all into. And then you have this outlier of Za being like, hey, once a Pokemon touches us, never again can it go anywhere else. And then even let's Go kind of made a little bit of sense of, okay, once it leaves, let's go. And it goes into Sword and Shield. It can't go backwards because that did. That did kind of feel like that initial step that Pokemon bank used to have. Yu-Gi-Oh It was a generation split. It felt like a generation split. Right, right. Because technically. Let's go, Pichu. Let's go. Eevee was Gen 7. Gen 7. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh And if they were to add these like eshop games. And even if it was just Fire Red Leaf Green, Ruby Zebra it seems very muddy. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Well, it doesn't seem like they're all talking to each other, so it almost feels like they put the games out and then they've got home. And like. And then once the games are out, they're like, all right, we have no idea how this is going to work. Let's figure it out now. And then that's when they're like, oh, well, this isn't. This actually can't go to other games. Like, that's why it takes months for home. I guess there's my answer. Probably they had to figure this all out. They don't came out. Yu-Gi-Oh it took them like, what, almost three years to figure out how this Fireball is going to work. But we got to talk about that, too. The. Okay, before. There's so much here. Hold on, hold on. Real, real quick. Like, real time. Follow up here. So when in the gts, you do see the last game the Pokemon was in, you don't see the game it originated in. Oh, when you're trading. So if I was trying to scam you with a. With a. A gen. A genuine Articuno from Fire Red Leaf Green, but I moved it into Sword and Shield, and then you wanted it for Fire Red Leaf Green, you would see that, hey, it touched Sword and Shield. This is useless to me. Yu-Gi-Oh And. And where I'm getting this from is there was a Reddit thing about this because someone. You don't see what it originated in. And so someone was like, I don't want people to trade me go stuff, but I don't get to see the G, the Go G, until after I get the Pokemon, because it only shows the last game it was in, not what game it originated in. So if you're trading on the gts, you see the G, though, do you not? I don't think you do until you. Until you receive the Pokemon. But wouldn't it say last game, Pokemon Go? Not if they put it into, like, Sword and Shield or something and then traded it to you, and then it would have the big G stamp. Interesting. Yu-Gi-Oh For what it's worth, I don't mind the G stamp. I don't care. I don't. The G. Logan. Whatever, it's fine. But I know a lot of people not a fan of that G stamp. The G stamps or whatever. Yu-Gi-Oh The reading your game data without moving in, I think is a really great change. This is not the first game that did that. Legends Za is the first game to do that because it read whether or not you had the Mega Stones. Oh, that's right. And I tested this on stream because I moved a bunch of Pokemon over to get the Shiny Volcanion. And then I was like, oh, I have everything but, like, a singular gimmighoul. I like, I. I had a Gimme Ghoul. It was shiny. I evolved it into. It was a shiny alpha gimme Ghoul. I evolved it into Goldin Go. And I was like, oh, I'm so silly. I should have just, like, waited a week, because now I just got to go back and get another known. Right? Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. Because now I need to find another gimmighoul. Yu-Gi-Oh that has the ZA mark, which, like, easily could trade. Right. That's such an easy trade. But I was like, I need to shiny hunt one more one-of-one so when I. In 30 years, when I find that wormhole again, Perfect. Hyperspace, whatever. But then I was like, oh, I'm missing, like, four Mega Stones. And you don't need the Mega Stones for that. But when you look at the mobile version of Pokemon Home, and I'm like, I want the little crown next to it. Yep, okay. Of course. And I was like, well, did it register the other Mega Stones? Because I literally moved all my Pokemon over. Over into it and then moved him back. And I was like, I'm curious. So I did the. The battle Royale, and I was like, oh, I don't want to do this, but I need, like, Backscalibur, Sceptile, Swampert, and Blazing. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh And I one-of-one two matches, and it got me all four instantly. Yu-Gi-Oh It was, like, so quick. And I was like, oh, my gosh. I was. I was ready to be here for, like, an hour, but I didn't move anything over. I just got those four. I one-of-one the two matches. I saved the game. Didn't move anything. Went into Pokemon Home, and it already registered the four were there. That's cool. And I was like, Yu-Gi-Oh that's so cool that it just read that data. Yu-Gi-Oh That might be the coolest thing Pokemon Home has ever done. And probably it hasn't done anything really in the last. How? I didn't get the date of how old Pokemon Home. It was February. It was. Right? It was February. Something. 2020. Was it 2020? It was, like, right before COVID Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh So in the last six years, this feels like the actual first big update to Pokemon Home. I know it's had updates, but this actually feels like big update and it doesn't even feel that big either, right? Yu-Gi-Oh it's not that, like, for what it's worth, it's not that big of an update, but for Pokemon Home, it's pretty big. That's just the fact that we all pay $16 a year for this thing. Is it 16 or is it 14? I think it's 16. I don't even know anymore. I stopped paying attention. They could raise it, and I don't think I'd notice. Oh, they will. Don't worry. I promise you they were going to raise this price. Maybe not like in the next year or two, but they also. On Pokemon they talk about how they added the mystic ticket and the. Which is crazy that there's like a Pokemon Go ticket in the game. And then they added the Aurora ticket so you could get. Ho. Oh, there's a. I thought it was a pretty good joke. You get Lugia. Ho. Oh. And then Deoxys. This is another way you could Shiny hunt Deoxys. I think Austin was. I'm working on it. I still am. What if you just did Deoxys raids in Pokemon Go for a dollar each? See, I thought about that, but I still haven't found one of those in there either. So I'm. I'm looking on all ends. What if you just stopped? No, I like that shiny. It's a good one. Is it? It is a good shiny. It is. And I don't want that big G in home. Oh, I don't care at all. I don't care. I would rather give Scopely 20 bucks. Assuming it's like 1 in 20 and I do get it in the one in. Sure. I'd rather give it 20 bucks than to do a. To give Nintendo slash game freak 20 bucks, play through an entire game and then sit there and turn the game off over and over for a 1 in 8,000 chance. It's relaxing. Get a nice cup of tea, put on some Big Brother live feeds. Yu-Gi-Oh it's good. I mean, is Big Brother on Twitch? No, no. It's probably their like, own website, right? Yu-Gi-Oh Paramount and Pluto. Okay, Paramount and Pluto. What world are we living in these days? Not Pluto. Not. That's true. Okay, here's the Pokemon home news. This is version 4.1.0 coming in October. Players who have enrolled in the premium plan paid will be able to deposit Pokemon from the increased 6,000. They have a little exclamation mark too. They're so excited about this. Hold on. So we've had Pokemon for over six years. Yu-Gi-Oh And in Pokemon Go, what is it, like 11, 500 or something? It's way up there. Yu-Gi-Oh Maybe 12,000. It's really high in Pokemon. It's a lot. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. Fine tone. He has. He knows. And then the Go Safari Ball, which is not a Safari ball, it's a Go Safari Ball, will be able to finally be changed into the Strange Ball. In October. Things caught. Po. Things Pokemon caught using the Safari Ball in Pokemon Go for the first time will be transferred to the Strange Ball, which I think is great. I mean, they said this was going to happen like a year ago. Yu-Gi-Oh right? Yes. And I thought it already happened. To be honest with you. I didn't realize that happened yet. I remember when I. The very first wild area, which was in Fukushima, I believe, and I was like, I was live streaming it and we found the. We. We, the collective Pokemon Go community found out that if you turned on the incense, the Adventure Incense, and then you use Dialga to stop the time. This probably sounds really weird to people who don't play Pokemon Go. You use a free incense called the Adventure incense, which lasts 15 minutes. And then you can use Dialga's Roar of Time to pause the 15 minute timer by six minutes. So the six minute timer has to count down. And then once it gets to zero, then the 15 minutes starts counting down. You could roar of time over and over and over again. The Adventure Incense would give you a chance to find Galerian, Articuno, Moltres, Trace, and Zapdos, but they're really hard to catch in Pokemon Go. But since the Go Safari Blue Ice so busted with catch rate, it was almost always a gear. I think it was like, pretty much guaranteed Goldin Raspberry Go Safari Ball. Right. And you would catch them. So that wild area was really fun to me because I had the resources to roar of time all weekend. I roared of time the entire time. And then I was able to find all three birds and catch up in safari balls. The funny thing is, like, I was catching shinies and safari balls. I was catching the mighty Pokemon safari balls. And people in my Twitch chat were like, stop catching them in safari balls. You'll never be able to transfer them to Pokemon home. And I'm like, I'm. I have like 17 shiny Swirlex. I would like a shiny Swirlex in a Ghost Safari ball instead of the other ones. Like, I really don't care at that point. I. I think having. If I already have a shiny Pokemon in my eyes and like a Pokeball and an Ultra Ball. Then I want it in a Premier Ball. I want it in a Level Ball. I want it in a Love Ball. So I was like, I'm very confident that this will be fake. Like, this is not an Iantic issue at the time. This is a Pokemon Home slash Ilca issue. They have to turn it on. They have to allow it. And if we know anything about Pokemon Home, it took them six years to give us more storage, and it took him two years just to hit this little button. There's like nothing on Scope, Lease, or Niantic's end to say, like, this is our fault. You can't send it to Ghosts to. No, it's, it's Ilka's fault. Right. It's always been their fault. Like, there's, there's. You have been able to send so many different Pokemon, and like, there's some exceptions to that. Right? Like when Poipole originally came out, it was like, you can't transfer Poipole because you, you need to do it for the storyline purposes. Right? Right. And there, there are. So I think, what is it like if, if a Pokemon has like, Roar of Time or Spatial Rend. I don't think they can get transferred either. Like, there are definitely some exceptions. I'm not saying there's not exceptions, but the Pokeball itself is not a restriction. And Ilka Slash, the Pokemon company slash, Pokemon Works Slash, however they want to brand it, so no one's mad at them. They could have decided to put it into a regular Safari Ball, right? Yu-Gi-Oh But they decided Strange Ball, and I'm very down with that. I love the Strange Ball. I don't know if I'm in the minority of that, but I think the Strange Blue Ice sick. I think it's, I like it. I think it's fantastic. It's fine. I don't have any issues with it. I don't like. I'm not. I don't love it. It's only in. Well, it's not only in Home. It's in any game that doesn't have the ball that it originated from. Right. So, like, and, And I guess these can never go back to. These can never go back to Go. So you'll never see them in that Safari Ball again. But because, like, right, the Strange. That's how the Strange Ball works. Right. Like, if I catch a Pokemon in Arceus in a heavy. Or what's the. In a, like, Gigaton Ball. And Yu-Gi-Oh that's what it's called. Called. Right. Okay. And I, I, I Transfer that to home, it becomes a strange ball. Right. I put it into, like, Sword and Shield, it becomes a strange ball. No, well, technically not in Sword and Shield. Sword and Shield doesn't have the strange ball, so it would default to probably just a Pokeball. Right, Pokeball. Okay, but if you were to move it to Scarlet and Violet, it would Strange ball. And then. But if I go back, then I move it back to Arceus, it's a gigaton ball again. Yes. Right, right. So if you moved it to Za and then it's now Tribute forever. Tribute You can't move it. It would also be a strange ball. Right. So the only game it's not a strange ball in would be Sword and Shield. Oh, nbdsp. What does it become in bdsp? Is it a Pokeball again? Yu-Gi-Oh Okay, so. But it would be theoretically a strange ball for every future game. Sure. Yu-Gi-Oh So, like, if I caught a. I did. I caught a Galerian Zapdos Moltres Articuno in Strange Ball and in Safari. Go Safari balls. And so if I move them into Sword and Shield, they would be in the strange balls, and that would be the only way to get them in strange balls. No, they'd be in Pokeballs. No, sorry. Scarlet and Violet. If I move them into Scarlet and Violet to do seven star ratings, it would be in Strange Balls. And I think that's sick. I think that's really cool. I agree. I don't. I'm the wrong person to talk about this. I like. I like everything being in, like, a Pokeball or a luxury ball. Sure, sure, sure. Like, some people are, like, only premier balls, and I totally get them. There's like a. There's like a list of Pokemon out there that cannot be in Strange Balls, right? Yu-Gi-Oh sure. Yu-Gi-Oh And now that this transfer will work, then when you have the Ghost Safari ball and you catch specific Pokemon, it would start to fill out that list. And then if something is in. I don't actually know how breeding with the strange ball works. I think if you breed something with a strange ball, it is also still a strange ball. I don't think it defaults back to a Pokeball. I don't know. That's actually cool. Yu-Gi-Oh I think the only Master Ball and the Cherish Ball are the only two Pokeballs that don't pass down. This kind of makes me like what you were saying about the list of Pokemon that can't be in a Strange Ball makes me think of. I think it was the Paldean starters were available in Pokemon Go fairly early on. And so it's like you could actually have them in Ultra Ball and Great Ball. Yu-Gi-Oh Because you could get them in Pokemon Go that way and then you could transfer them over. And that, like, came a lot earlier than that usually does happen for the starters of the new game. According to Google Yu-Gi-Oh Overview. No. The Strange Ball cannot pass down via breeding. I got that from a Reddit post on R Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. At least it gave me the source. It turns into a Pokeball. Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh Going back to Sword and Shield where they introduced the Cram o Matic, my love. Also, I. Somebody was watching me play Pokemon Go Sleep the other day, and they were like, the Cramomatics in Pokemon Sleep. And I was like, Yu-Gi-Oh this game is busting. It's so good. The Grandmatic is in Pokemon Sleep, and I found a Cramerant spawned the other. Or no, my Cramerant. Like, I put it on the team for the week and it happened to be right next to the Cramomatic. It looked so proud. Looking at the Cramomatic, it was the perfect picture. That's awesome. Cram Rant. Just admiring the Cram o Matic. I think having specific Pokemon in Strange Pokeballs is really cool. Right. Like, so technically, every Pokemon in Legends Arceus is in a Strange Ball. What is that, like, 242. Two Pokemon? I think so. Yu-Gi-Oh And then the only other way to get Strange Pokeballs is now from Go into home starting in October. But when Safari balls are available, there's only a limited pool of Pokemon. True. That's. Yu-Gi-Oh Just whatever. This wild area has spawning, Right? Yu-Gi-Oh So what you could do if you wanted something really unique in a Strange Ball that you know, wouldn't spawn this November for this year's wild area is you could do the research and then run away from the research and then stack that research and then wait for the Safari. The Go Safari balls to appear and then catch them. Yu-Gi-Oh And I think that's so neat. I don't know. I agree. I think it's. I think it's cool. I think there is a. A group of people, fairly large, I think, like, group of people who enjoy trying to get, like, every ball or like, you know, unique ball for, like, Pokemon and things like that. And I think this works really well to that because there isn't another way to do it. Right. You've got, like you said, you got Arceus and now you've got Go. And this is, to your point, like, stacking the research and just catching a bunch of random stuff in The Go Safari Balls in November is a very smart idea for that. And it can be very. It could be fun, right? It could be fun to think like, oh, okay, I've got these researches. Okay, I'll, I'll stack these ones. I'll wait till November. Like there's something to look out for with that. And then just remember to do it because it's only two days. Right. Just remember to, to go through that research stat. Four days if you're going to the IRL event. Yu-Gi-Oh okay. Well, true. Good point. I'm just, just saying it. The 9000 also seems very weird. Like just why just give us 10,000. Why is it specifically. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. Well, I guess 30 doesn't go into 10,000, it goes into 9,000, I guess. Correct. But also this is like, this is like as nice as these changes are. And they're not like the Go Safari Ball. The Go Safari Ball to Strange Blue Ice probably a very small portion of Pokemon fans, but probably also the, the Venn diagram of people who care about this are also probably pretty hardcore. Yu-Gi-Oh Going up to 9,000 is like, thank you. It just took you way too long to do that. Like, do we have to wait another six years for another 3,000 spots? Yes, yes, we do. It just, it's, it's nice. But it's such like bars on the ground. Like Pokemon Home should be doing way more things in general. Like let me do something with my Pokemon. Let me, Let me have way better organization when I take a Pokemon out. When I, when I use the tags in the mobile version of Home and then I move them into Scarlet and Violet and then I move them back, the tags are gone. The tags only work if they don't touch another game. And I don't know if this is what the cutoff is with za, which again we, we. We found out that the, the. The reason there's a cut off with ZA is just because they wanted to. There was no actual technical reason. Yu-Gi-Oh Why ZA needed to cut things off. So is all of this which leads into Pokemon bank closing, is all of this saying Gen 10 going forward is some new system that we're getting ready to do. And this is, this is me being very optimistic and we're testing the grounds with za and now everything going forward is going to be better organized, better folders. Like that's. You're putting way too. What are you conspiracy theorist on R slash Pokemon? Like you're putting way too much positive thought into this. It just the whole, it's. It sucks that like this app sucks. Yu-Gi-Oh it does suck. But they, the I think the only reason they did what they did with Za is because they didn't want the bad publicity of that with a new. With winds and waves. I agree. I agree. I think we do the cut now and people are Obsidian. Right. And then they're used to it by winds and waves. Yes. So then nobody's upset because. Nobody's upset because they've moved on to another thing to be upset about. Right. They've moved on. Well, speaking of moving on, a lot of people will have to move on from Pokemon bank, but. Well, maybe not that many. Maybe all 35 people out there. But we will have to take a quick break and then we come back and we'll talk about Pokemon bank shutting down. So we will be right back. Pokemon Bank End of Service Pokemon Bank, a Nintendo 3DS application that lets players deposit or withdraw Pokemon they have befriended in Pokemon titles on that system from online boxes, will be ending Service on Thursday, February 25, 2027 at 7:00pm PST. As a result, transferring Pokemon from Pokemon bank to Pokemon Home will also no longer be possible. If you have Pokemon stored in Pokemon bank that you wish to carry over, please move them to Pokemon Home prior to bank's end of service. Please know Pokemon bank is currently not available for down Sad day. Is it the end the end of an era? I don't know. I had to look a lot of this stuff up because when this, when this news broke, the first thing I thought was, well, they gave us like three years heads up. And then I realized it wasn't three years. It was over five years. Heads up. Yu-Gi-Oh We lost some time there with, with the pandemic. Yu-Gi-Oh we did. I have the. I have one of the original articles. It was so hard to find this because everything I searched for was like two day old news. Three day old. Frequent. Yu-Gi-Oh it was all frequent stuff. This is off Kotaku. Pokemon bank will survive Nintendo's Eshop shutdown. The app will live on free of charge for a fixed period of time. This is published Feb 20 Feb 16, 2022 Brian Ashcraft off Kotaku probably doesn't even work for Kotaku anymore. Nintendo's decision to Shutter the Nintendo 3DS and Yu-Gi-Oh U Eshop doesn't only impact games, but other things like Pokemon Bank. While it might soon be impossible to play certain games, the Pokemon app will live on, but not forever. Here's how Nintendo.com describes Pokemon Bank Pokemon bank is an application. Yu-Gi-Oh it's very true. It was an application and a paid service with an annual fee of US499 that will allow you to deposit, store and manage up to 3,000 of your Pokemon in private boxes on the Internet. It will be powerful resource for players this is again Nintendo's words. It will be a powerful resource for players who are who like to Uptown many different kinds of Pokemon, or for those who like to raise many Pokemon in preparation for battles and competitions. Pokemon bank also makes it easy to transfer Pokemon from copies of Pokemon Sun, Pokemon Moon, Pokemon X, Y, Omega, Ruby and Alpha Zebra including the downloadable versions, to a single game. According to the Pokemon company's Japanese language announcement, the app will, or I can't read that the app will be become free in March of 2023 when the eShop shutters. However, that same day new downloads will not be possible. Likewise, it's not possible it one-of-one be possible to download the Poke Transporter which is used for Pokemon Bank. But how long will Pokemon bank continue to exist for free? The fine print says from the Pokemon Japanese press release says the period in which the free service will end is not yet decided. It adds that an announcement will be made to on the official site and to check back at a later date. Even more explicit, the Pokemon company's Japanese language tweet regarding the announcement states the app will be free for a fixed period of time. As of writing this, the English language Pokemon Twitter account has yet to make an announcement regarding the service. Classic oh, I mean, it's still like that to this nothing has changed. Kotaku. Nothing has changed. They Goldin even tell us that they got the Pocopia stuff wrong. The same is true for the English site Pokemon and the North American press site. Like anything, of course Pokemon bank will end. However, it's nice to see the Pokemon company keeping it alive again, even if it's on life support, especially when Nintendo pulls the plug on the Eshop. So again, this was almost five years ago where they said hey, Pokemon bank is going to be shutting down and then it became free about three years ago. If I have my math correct. Yu-Gi-Oh a little over three years ago it became free. Pokemon bank launched for everyone. It launched in Japan early and then I don't know if anyone remembers this, probably not because you weren't in Japan. It launched in Japan in like December of 2013 and then they had to pull the app because it didn't work and then they had to relaunch it in January of 2014 and then in February 5, 2014 it came out for everyone. So if I did the math, between February 5th, 2014 for US customers to the day it's supposed to end. That means Pokemon bank will be up for 4,770 days or a little over 13 years. And then the announcement of the Eshop being discontinued with was when. Which was around February 16, 2022. So over four years ago. But it'll be five years once we get to obviously next year. That's when we know. That's when we knew that Pokemon bank will not last forever. And that would be 1,836 days from the announcement of end of life to the actual shutdown day. So a little over five years. And then Nintendo cut off all its online connectivity for the 3Ds on April 8, 2024. So that was over two years ago. But obviously, if you've purchased games on the Eshop, you could redownload them. There was that cutoff where on March 28, 2023, you Goldin buy anything anymore. Right. So if you didn't download Pokemon bank, slash Transporter for over three years, you haven't been able to download or get it. Yu-Gi-Oh You had to go buy a Zebra overpriced 3Ds from a shop. Yes. And I know people were like, oh, well, they made it free, but I don't. They Goldin take your money anymore. Yu-Gi-Oh there was no way for them to take the money. Yu-Gi-Oh like, sure, that was like a nice thing. They made it for free. It was only 4.99. That's fine. But they actually Goldin take your money. There was like no way for them to take your money. Yu-Gi-Oh they probably would have if they could. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh of course they would have. No, I think that they, like, they gave people a lot of time and there's. There's so many different ways they could have done this. Like, they could have just shut it down when the Eshop shut down. Right. Like, they could have. I think it was generous that they gave that extra time. Absolutely. It'll be five years when it actually does shut down. Five years. They did not need to do that. But Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I think it sucks. It definitely sucks for a very specific amount of hardcore players. I mean, the first thing that comes to mind is like anyone doing like a ribbon quest, but like, that's, that's like a. Such a small amount of players, right? Yu-Gi-Oh Like, I talk about this all the time on my Twitch streams because if you, if you go on Twitch, you would see specific ways people play Pokemon. You might. You might see Speedruns, you might see like Nuzlockes. Nuzlockes aren't as popular as they were a couple of years ago. It's, it's a lot of like Ironman stuff now. You thought shiny hunters were loved rng. People who like Ironman, like, hate themselves so much that they want as much rng as possible. And then you see shiny hunting, right? You, you get, you get the like, generalized playthroughs, or you get like raids, or you get people who battle. Like, that's also very popular. But I think there is this section of people and they, they hate. People hate when I say this, but it's absolutely true. The average Pokemon player, you know, Scarlet and Violet sold 28 million copies. The actual people, Shiny hunting is not even half of that. I wouldn't even say it's a quarter of that. Absolutely. 10% close, probably. Shiny hunting is such a small part of the community, but it's a, it's a. You know, if you're in it, it feels like everyone's in it, right? Mm, Yu-Gi-Oh And it is, it is great post game content, don't get me wrong. And it's not that different from like, people trying to get like rare mounts to drop in, you know, Final Fantasy 14 or World of Warcraft. Like, hey, I'm gonna do this, right? Every week. I've been doing it for, you know, six months. I just want to get the Osiris mount to drop, right? Like, that's what I've been doing. I can only do it once a week, but I'll do it once a week until it eventually shows up. Right? Like it's, it's, it's not like, unique to Pokemon in any way, right? But the, the amount of people doing like, ribbon quests is, is even smaller than that, right? Like, I have never met somebody who cared about ribbons but didn't care about shiny Pokemon. You have to, you have to care about old games. You have, you probably have to care about shiny Pokemon. Then you have to care about ribbons. Then you have to have all of those games to begin with. And then you got to go through the, like, let's say you have all the games. Have you recently tried to move a Pokemon from Fire red leaf green all the way up? It sucks. I wouldn't even want to think about it. And you need two systems. Yu-Gi-Oh Like, you need multiple systems to do this. It's, it's so convoluted that, like, if you just take a step back and you, you think, how many people are actually using this service? It can't possibly be that many. And I think, like, the Finest thing I saw was somebody saying, there's millions of us that would pay to keep Pokemon bank open. I don't even think there's millions of people subscribing to Pokemon Home. Right, Right. And you think there's millions of people that would subscribe to Pokemon bank, and how would you even do that? There's no way for them to take your money. Right? If they could take your money, they definitely would. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh It's like. It's not really. I don't know. Not their choice. Again, it's the same thing. You see, this is not a Pokemon thing. This is a. Like, people like to say they would love to do this, but they don't. Right. Like, we saw this with. Just to, like, compare it to, like, technology. We saw this with, like, the iPhone. Mini. Oh, my gosh. I love the Mini, everybody. I know you love the Mini. I put my money where my mouth was on that one, though. I know you did. But everybody said they would love the Mini. They'd buy the Mini. Oh, we want a small phone. The sales numbers proved different. Right. Like, it just. It did not sell well at all because everyone said they would buy it, but then, like, it never happened. Like, a lot of people didn't, or it just didn't. That audience just wasn't actually that big of an audience. Right. And it's the same thing for, like, Pokemon bank, right? It's. It's just not. People want it to be a bigger crowd. Crowd that wants it, but it's not. It's really a small crowd, and it's. It's. And for those people, it's important to them, and that's. Yu-Gi-Oh that's fine. That's completely understandable. It's just not that big of a crowd. When. When I first really got into Ribbons, which is probably around the time of Scarlet or Sword and Shield, because Sword and Shield introduced Marks. And I was, Yu-Gi-Oh Like, marks are so cool. And then you can get, like, ribbons on it and stuff. Like. And I remember, again, streaming on Twitch, I remember people being like, why do you care so much about this? And, like, again, you know, I had. At the time. I'm washed right now on Twitch, but at the time, I had, like, 300, 400 people watching me. During the Sword and Shield era, it was like, during COVID right? No. No one could go outside to a baseball game or anything. And I was like, no, I think this is cool because, you know, it was like, either you're shiny hunting or you're. You're you're nuzlocking or you're. You're battling. Why are you looking for a misty mark, Cramorant? And I was like, no, this is so cool. Like, what if I get a misty mark and then, like, this Cramer. It's like, angry mark, and this one's a furious. Like, I think this is all neat. Yu-Gi-Oh And then I went backwards, and I was like, oh, cool. You get, like, a bunch of ribbons on, and then when you move them, you can, like, equip the ribbons for battles and stuff. And then when I started, like, doing it, I was like, oh, I don't want to move any of my shiny Pokemon from Sun and Moon into Pokemon Home because I want to make sure I get the ribbons on sun and Moon before I move them up. And then I did that, right? Like, I got all the sun and Moon ribbons on my Incineroar. And just. Just one game, right? Just Ultra Sun. Ultra Moon got a shiny Incineroar. I was like, let me get. I think there's, like, six ribbons in that game. I was like, this. This is a nightmare. This is so much work for one singular Pokemon. And I got, like, 90 shiny Pokemon that I told myself, well, I'm Maybe I gotta get the ribbons on all of them before I move them up. Never doing it. I think ribbon quests are really cool. I think putting ribbons on your Pokemon are very cool. I think it's cool to have, like, hey, this Pokemon 15 years old. Here's the footprint ribbon from HeartGold Soul Silver. Here's the. Here's the. Well, there's no ribbons in black and white. Here's the contest ribbon. And Omega, Ruby Alpha Zebra Here's the Battle Tree ribbon in sun and Moon. And moving that up. You're in the minority. I'm in the minority. Like, I. I am the one that out of the three of us, this probably affects the. The most. Yu-Gi-Oh And even I'm like, they. They told us over three years ago it was going to end, and they're ending it, what, two days? Like, depending on what time zone you're in, like one to two days before probably them showing their entire hand of generation 10 and probably Pokemon Stars. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm sure. Yu-Gi-Oh No, I. I will say, though, like, my favorite shiny hunting method to this day is still SOS Hunting. And to be fair, like, I've had years to do it, and I have. I haven't gone through and, like, you know, SOS Hunted every Pokemon or anything, but there's a part that's. It's a bit of a bummer that it's like, Yu-Gi-Oh I can go do this like after February of next year and. But I one-of-one be able to transfer them anywhere. You know, I one-of-one be able to take them up to. To home if I do that. Because I. To this day, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon is still my favorite Pokemon game. Like, it's a tight game. There's a lot of things that it's great game. It doesn't have a lot of the features obviously that are in the newer games, but it's still my favorite game and my favorite way to Shiny Hunt. And so I look at that and it's like, Yu-Gi-Oh it's a bummer, you know. But then I like move on with my day. Yu-Gi-Oh it feels like, sorry, Austin. It feels like when you're given like six months to do this big project at work and then you're like, oh, wait, the deadline's next week. I guess I'll start it now. Like, that's what it feels like with all these people. Like you've had. Everybody's like, oh, I have so much I wanted to do now. It's like, like you had over three years. There was so much time and like started like it does. It would suck to play like Black 2 White 2, right? I was. I was like 25 Pokemon away from getting the shiny charm in Black 2 White 2. And a lot of it was Transfer Ho. Oh, and Lugia from Heartgold, Soul Silver Transfer, Kyogre Groudon. You know, it was like, I'll get to this eventually. Clearly it was not important enough to me to finish that. Right? But if I did, for whatever reason, on March 1, 2027, boot up Pokemon Black 2 White 2. Just to look at what is in there and then run into a shiny Patrat, maybe that's not the best example for a shiny, but it would. It does suck. It does suck to go, Yu-Gi-Oh I guess he's stuck here for sure. And I don't. The people. There's a lot of people out there we've seen on the Internet last few days who are like, oh, I have all these things I have to do. And yes, you. We can all sit there and be like, well, you didn't do them for the last five years. Clearly they weren't important enough to do them then that's totally fine. It also does bring up the. Like you do now see the deadline, right? And you're like, oh, all these things where. Because there wasn't a deadline, right? I didn't Put them at the, like, on the front burner. Right. Like, I wasn't. It wasn't the thing. Like, I still wanted to do them, but there are other things that were just like, oh, I can do that later. I can do that later. Right. This is the time crunch moment right now. I can't do that later. And so I understand those feelings of, oh, man. It's not even like being mad at them for, like, shutting down. It's just now having that deadline and being like, Yu-Gi-Oh now is a time where it's like, if I really do care, I know what time I have. And in February 25th, that's 7 o' clock Pacific, you know, you'll know how much you cared. Right. Because it either happens or it doesn't. And I think a majority of the people who are like, talking like this now, when that day comes, they'll either have their, like, stuff done or they one-of-one And then I think they'll. They'll move forward. Yu-Gi-Oh You know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna try to give a simile here. This might not work out at all, but I'm gonna give. Awesome. Here we go. Pokemon Bank. I am a person. I'm never gonna use it. I've talked about it. I'm. I don't care. This is fine for me, but I would. The option being there to, to possibly go back and transfer things up would be cool to, to have. For the people that are still like, I wish this would keep being up. It's like being invited to a party. I'm never going to go, but I would still like the invite. I would like the option to go. Yu-Gi-Oh So that's how it feels. This is how this feels. I don't really care, but it would be nice if it stayed. Yu-Gi-Oh But it doesn't bother me. That worked. That worked. I think we knew the, like, we knew the writing was on the wall because they told us that they were shutting it down. They wrote it on the wall. They were the one that scribbled it on the wall. But I don't even. I don't even think the problem was this service. Right. If they cared as a company, they would have made a new app and they would have prepped for this because they knew that the 3DS online shop wouldn't have lasted forever. Sure. And they would have done something prior to this existing. And maybe at the time, they could have been like, hey, you, we're releasing this app because end of life is going to Happen. This singular $10 purchase will ensure you to go over. And I bet it wouldn't even get like a half a million people to purchase it. But it would be important to the people that did. But I don't think, I don't think keeping servers up and like continuing to do maintenance on them and continuing to do security on them and eventually somebody will have figured it out and then they have to do security on them again. I don't think that's like the good long term solution. And yes, I get it, they have a ton of money, but they also just don't care. And once, Yu-Gi-Oh if they care, they would, they would have had a solution prior to this. Right. And I do, I do think like them giving us five years, I think is generous. I don't think them making it free was generous. I think they made it free because they literally Goldin take your money. Yu-Gi-Oh The thing that I think bothers me the most and what annoys me the most is when they went from Gen 2 to Gen 3 and they said, this isn't going to happen again. It's happening again. But it's like happening in a way where it's like, well, the last 3DS game was nine years ago and we told you this was going to happen four years ago. So it's. There's like a giant asterisk of, you had plenty of time to move these Pokemon over. Right. But if you get more Pokemon on it after the date, they're stuck. Like, it's weird because it's like the only video game franchise I think, ever where you grab a Pokemon from 26 years ago and move it all the way up. Yu-Gi-Oh And that's awesome. And that's so cool. And I've said this on the show before. I. It's one of the reasons why I love the series and it's one of the reasons I went back to old games. Like, I don't go back to old games almost ever. Like, even, even like I. When I played Elden Ring for the first time, I absolutely loved it. And then my Twitch chat was like, oh, you should go back to. You should. You should play Bloodborne if you love Elden Ring. Too old. Can't go backwards. No, no, no. There's too many new games coming out to go backwards. That's fair. That's fair. There are some classics out there that are great to play even if you're not going to be able to bring anything forward. I watched somebody play God of War 3 the other night and I was like, you know, I never saw the end of this game now. I did. No desire to play it. Thank you for you playing it. Yu-Gi-Oh Glad I saw the end. The end was kind of bad, actually. No shame. God of War 3. I don't know. The end of God of War 3 was great. Fine. I guess the long credit, the fact that there's no. There was no more afterwards was the problem. Like, but the ending of God of War 3 was great. It's okay. I am a, like a very forward thinking, you know, get with the times. You know, we're not reading newspapers anymore. We're not on, you know, horse carriages anymore. We're like forever forward. Yu-Gi-Oh Forever forward. That's gonna be at my tombstone. But like part of it is like annoying about, like, it's annoying that they're doing this, but also it's like, okay, whatever. Like, you're a huge, like, you're a huge company. You're not a friend. And I don't think any amount of emails or any amount of complaining is going to change their direction of it. No. Right. But like, if I'm being positive, I do think they gave us an incredible amount of time. Like, it wasn't like, hey, it's shutting down. You have a year. Like, they give us a. And even in this case, they're giving us over six. They're giving us six months more. Like, it's okay. It's okay to be like, critical of, like, this sucks. But it's also okay to say I think five years is a long time. I think both are true. Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. I've. It's hard, it's tough because how long is it they're supposed to drag this on for? Forever? Are people, Were people, are people expecting. Were people expecting that Pokemon bank was going to live forever? Like, that just doesn't. That doesn't shut down. Yu-Gi-Oh no, I know. But even like before that, like, what was the expectation there? Like, I get that they said back in Gen 2, the Gen 2 to Gen 3, that they said, you know, this will never happen again. But I mean, that's what 20 years ago I get. But it is such a bummer that we're losing a lot of older Pokemon games that we're not ever going to be able to. Like that's such a Pokemon thing. I get that argument, Austin, and I'm with you. That when you say that out loud, that sounds correct. And then you go into a used game store and you look at a copy of Heart Gold Soul Silver and you go, I'm buying that for that price Yu-Gi-Oh I know, I know. That's why this is so. It's so weird though. The problem with this is, is like you can say things that, like when you're saying them out loud, they sound correct, right? Like, Yu-Gi-Oh like, hey, they have enough money to make these gone forever. Hey, what if I find a shiny in September of next year and be able to move it over? But they've already limited what could happen. Like last week if I walked into a used game store, I got to buy a 3DS. And I have to hope that that 3DS has pokey transporter and Pokemon bank on it right then. And it's going to be more expensive if it does. And then I'm going to walk over to the next shelf and be like, okay, black two, white two is 100 plus dollars. Okay. Hark. Gold soul, silver is 150. Okay, emerald is 250. I don't actually know if these prices are correct. I'm pretty sure the last time I checked those were the prices. They might be higher or lower. Yu-Gi-Oh I think they're a little bit lower now, but maybe, but you are the minority. Like you are spending, right. 300 plus dollars on old stuff to do something to move Pokemon up. That is just so, like, it's such a fringe case. Yu-Gi-Oh But also, like, this is such like a unique problem because like you said earlier, this isn't really possible with any other games. So this is kind of a problem they caused themselves by allowing transferring a Pokemon to be a thing. But so they could have fixed it though. They could have. They could have. They could have. They could have made something where, you know, the Pokemon that went into bank generated a QR code. And once that QR code is scanned, once those Pokemon get sucked up and get moved over and, and they get safely transferred out. Right. Like maybe QR codes, maybe not the best way. But again, that still has like maintenance. That still has. Yu-Gi-Oh And for whatever reason, they hate hacked Pokemon, they hate duplication, they hate all of that stuff, even though it's still pretty easy to do outside of it. And they don't even. It goes back to like Pokemon home being bad. Like Pokemon home can't even tell hacked Pokemon at this point. Like, sure, maybe if a zerkitree knew like surf it would flag it as like, act. But Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh I don't know. Yu-Gi-Oh it's. It's tough. It's tough, right? It's. It is a bummer. It's a bummer that Pokemon bank is, is finally closing regardless of how long we knew it was like, how long we knew. Right? I mean, like, think about, like anything. Like, if you're moving to somewhere and you know you're gonna move for three months, it's still a bummer when that day comes and you're like, Yu-Gi-Oh this is the day that I'm moving. Right. I'm moving away from this stuff. Right. Like, so even though we knew for five years or however long this was eventually going to happen, it is still a bummer that it is finally come time. The last thing I'll say before we move on. I think the weirdest thing is it almost feels like this news was like the first time people are hearing about it. It felt like they were more mad now than they were. Yu-Gi-Oh February 16, 2022, because there was no date. Right? That day does something to people. Yu-Gi-Oh sure, the day does something. But wasn't there, like, fear back then? And I'm sure there was fear back then in 2022 of like, oh, maybe I should start. Like, maybe I should start my ribbon quest now. Or maybe I should start moving my shinies over now. Right? But. But there's a lot of procrastinators out there. And then the new, like, another thing came. Like there was more news of something else to distract from. Right? Like there was concern for a week and then something else in the world happened and everybody's like, okay, and they forget about the bank news. Right? Let me, let me, let me defend this billion dollar company. The. Here's the. Here's the great side of it. You have six months to do all of this old stuff. And lucky for you, there's no new game this fall. That, that would be crazy if Gen 10 was coming out in October and they were like, oh, by the way, we're ending the service. And now you got to jug things. This is why gen 10 isn't coming out until next year. Right? Yu-Gi-Oh they've prepped it. The Ribbon Quest hunters. They're thinking of all 45 people that are mid ribbon quest, myself included. Yu-Gi-Oh you got to get on that. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, sure. Running out of time. Real quick before we take a break, new arrivals. Tinka. Tink. Tinka Tough Tinkaton. These will be starting the the day this podcast comes up. And they will appear at Cyan Beach. Oh, sorry. Greengrass. Cyan Old gold power plant. Greengrass expert. Cyan beach expert. You are more likely to encounter Tinka Tink. Tinkatuff. Tinkaton at Cyan Beach Expert than other areas. They are snoozing just like One of the worst ones, I think. And then the Captain Pikachu also come with this. I went to Cyan Beach Expert this past week. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Okay, a good camp ticket, but I'm probably going to end at, like, Master Rank seven. Yu-Gi-Oh Pretty good. Yu-Gi-Oh I. I bit the bullet and I powered up a Bravery, and I. Because my main. My main type was flying, and I was like, great. Awesome. I have zero flying Pokemon besides, like, Cramer and this bravery. It was like a helping bonus. Bravery with, like, skill. Trigger didn't have bfs, which a lot of Berry Bursts should have bfs, but Berry Burst is incredibly strong. Holy cow. Yu-Gi-Oh it's so. When you, like, max it out, it's so strong, and it makes me want Trico even more. But I'm gonna. I'm literally waiting for the perfect Trico. It needs Barry finding us. It needs helping. Bonus. Do you think you'll find the Trico before Bank shuts down? I probably got a Bravery in bank and a Trico in bank. That I can move up. There you go. Movement to sleep. How that works? Yu-Gi-Oh Cyan Beach Expert's good. I was on it. I'm on it as well this week. Do you feel like you. Do you feel like the Hawlucha is, like, plentiful? No, not at all. I've seen two, and one was from. From a halucha incense. They're not. They're not all over the place like. Like I was promised. Now I am only. I'm currently Ultra 4. I don't know. That might have something to do with it. But I will say I had a very good berry spread this week. I had the. What is it? Is it fairy? That's the third type you get on Cyan. Fairy. Water. Flying. Flying. So I had Fairy for my top berry, and then I had Bug and water for my other two. Oh, my God. And so. And I was. I decided to do the Avocado. What is it? Avatar Avocado. Yu-Gi-Oh That's what I had. Did you. Did you meal prep for it? I didn't. Because I didn't. I didn't know what I was gonna do until. So I just, like. So I just. By the way, Crustle. Amazing Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm sorry to anybody who. Who I told that Crustle was no good. Crustle's amazing, especially for this meal because of its, like, ingredients that it has. But it's worked out pretty well this week. I will say. Yu-Gi-Oh ultra 4 right now. I'll probably end, like, I don't know. Master 2 or 3 maybe if I get some, like, good extra tasty meals tomorrow. Okay. Yu-Gi-Oh I meal prepped hard for that avocado meal, and I had like six dishes ready to go for Tuesday. And that's how I was able. I was able to patch auto Yu-Gi-Oh I think if I. If I didn't meal prep, I don't think I would have gotten as high as. Yu-Gi-Oh well, because I didn't. I also didn't have the avocado meal at all yet. Oh. So I started. I started from one like level one on that. So Austin did. You didn't. Well, no. You don't have Cyan Beach Expert. No, I don't even have greengrass yet because you need 18 on the original one. But I did find a shiny togepi. It's awful. Surprise. Don't worry. The tokpi is just awful in the game. Well, there. Okay. And then I remembered exactly in this moment, that Jolteon is still on my nap island. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh That's not good. So I probably got. I'm gonna grab that one. You should probably get it off. Yu-Gi-Oh you should probably get it off and share your neutralizing mint Pokemon with the slack. You've been reminded twice now, and you have not done this. Been doing too much. He there. He's trying to make sure that Pokemon bank stop ready. You showed off everyone in their tracks, but you've not shown off these Pokemon. You want to know about the mints? Yu-Gi-Oh Okay. I got some time left. Deadline's coming up. But I got time. We gotta put. We gotta put it really. Games should put more deadlines on more things is really what it comes down to. People get it done until they don't, and then they stop caring completely. But yes. Yu-Gi-Oh I have learned. You know, if it was like 10 years ago, I think I'd be more mad about the Pokemon bank stuff. But now in life, I'm just like, I want less of. Just take it away from me. Yes. I don't want anything anymore. There's honestly too much going on. We can. We can tone it down. Give me less. Beach Expert will have Captain Pikachu, Chansey. Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Blissey, Happiny. Tinka. Tinka. Tink. Tinkatuff. Tinkaton. They're really making Cyan Beach Expert desirable to go to. Like, all of these Pokemon seem great. Well, we don't know what Tink's thing will be, but true, I'm still looking for a good happiny because I have No, I have no egg. I have no triple egg in my life. Yu-Gi-Oh that's me too. I got a shiny happiny the other day and I was like here's the chance, here's the chance. And it was just like nope. This is awful as as all shinies are. Yu-Gi-Oh it was. Good luck with your cyan beach this week if you decide to go to it. I'm sure we'll find out very, very late Sunday night what Captain Pikachu and Tink will be ability, move wise and Whatnot. So let's take another break and then let's go through the Pokemon Go News. We will be right back. This message is brought to you by the Capital One Venture X Card. This was Wednesday, August 12th where you got special research for a Mewtwo with maxed out stats, asterisks and a special Background *. *S view two caught from a timed research that will also have the third mega level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo. Yes, we're excited to mark this milestone by sharing the special reward with trainers everywhere. Let's celebrate the journey we've seen we've taken together over the last 10 years. Please note the research will expire. You must complete it and claim it before Sunday, September 6th. How are how are we supposed to redeem Mewtwo and do our ribbon quests? You're asking a lot. You're asking a lot Pikachu. The asterisks here says trainers who caught the Mewtwo in person at Times Square on July 9th will receive a Mewtwo with different stats and a different reward. The different reward is, you know, you don't get the Master Ball. The different stats is. It's just not guaranteed to be a hundo. And then the double asterisk, Mewtwo with a time square background will be available again at some point in the future. They're taking away my influencer only. Mewtwo, I'm so mad for you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm upset that you're not getting this exclusive thing anymore. I thought. I thought. I thought it was. I thought. All right, go on. Here's the real. Let's get down to the real business here. Is this reactionary, or was this always planned? I. This might be a very hot take. I know people like, we've never had hot takes on the show. I hope it's not reactionary. I hope this was planned, because I would love to have seen them just be like, no, actually don't care about. Y' all have been very funny. Okay, but when the Dexit stuff happened, Pokemon literally put out a press release being like, we've heard you, trainers. We don't care. Yu-Gi-Oh true. That's true. I. Yu-Gi-Oh because there was that thing that happened recently, right, where people somehow got a special research Mewtwo that they weren't supposed to have gotten, and then they got, like, temporarily suspended. Oh, you're talking about the injection stuff. Yu-Gi-Oh Yes. We'll probably talk about that next week because we just don't have time. Yu-Gi-Oh well, it's just funny that, like, that popped up and then, like, two days later. I do think they're slightly connected, but the objection stuff would take all episode. Because we have to. Ren. No time for that right now. But I. I think this was the plan all along. I think they just bumped it up. Okay, when do you think it was supposed to happen? I think it was supposed to happen during the 10th anniversary event, because the 10th anniversary event on paper, seems very lackluster, and I think this was supposed to come with it, and I think they bumped it up because of people complaining. So then they go into the 10th anniversary event feeling better. Feeling better. Instead of going into the 10th anniversary event feeling like they're not being heard now. Could they not have just announced you would get this during the 10th anniversary event? Like, what would be the difference for them? And out, like, releasing it now or announcing it now, because they could have been like, sorry, trainers, for those of you that are not at the Times Square event, don't worry. We got something for you during this. Well, the like that could have. They didn't tell us we were getting two mewtwos. They tell us that the. I still think that giving 100% Mewtwo was like ultimately the wrong call. I. I think everyone was just happy to be there. Now we. We already went through all the math and stuff. Right. There was like two, 200 people that got invited. Less than a hundred of them were actually like influencers that work with night. Like I was in the room with the other influencers. There was definitely less than a hundred. I'm sure there were some influencers that were like invited that were not part of the meeting for Niantic. That was all on a bonus episode that we Talked about for $5 a month. Patreon.com but most of that crowd was community ambassadors. Plus the two people those community ambassadors could invite. Yu-Gi-Oh So they were like normal people, right? Yes. Because if it's two to one community ambassador, the two people being invited are also not a community ambassador. They're just part of the community. Right? Yu-Gi-Oh So like the messaging of like all influencers got special mewtwo's. I don't know. Do the math. Do like double the amount of influencers. I don't care. Just say there was 200 influencers out of 2,000. That's still 10%. Yu-Gi-Oh For the most part it felt like that also died down and people stopped caring. Unless you went to Instagram comments and then people definitely still cared. Well, then the bank news came out and then everybody came out about the bank news. Something new to care about. A final summer surge of mega energy is approaching. Powerful new chapter is almost here. Return for tomorrow for the. Anyways, the reveal is like Mega Delphox, Mega Chestnut, Mega Greninja are like the finale. Which last year's finale was Eternatus. And then. Yu-Gi-Oh the finale before that was. Wasn't it like Zashi and Zamazenta with the abilities? No, it was not. No. Zacian Zamazenta was the. I can't remember what the finale was before that. I don't remember what it was two years ago. It was better than this. Yes. It was so good that we can't remember. It's always been better than this. But the cool thing about the Eternatus is it appeared at Worlds. Yu-Gi-Oh And you could. You walked out of the World of Warcraft hall, the Disney hall, and then you could just do Eternatus and then we had to pay a $200 late fee for our recording studio as rented to the Eternatus as We ran to my car so we could get to the recording studio. And then Mewtwo is, like, supposed to also return for the finale. So if it was like, everyone was gonna get a hundred Mewtwo and like, a free master ball and then get one of these starters, I still don't think that's better than Eternatus. But also, like, Eternatus was very expensive if you actually wanted to participate. True. It was very expensive. I think we all spent more money than we wanted to. Forget this. Yu-Gi-Oh But I think this is just another case of people, like, prior to this announcement, people thinking that, like, Armored Mewtwo was going to come back or Clone Me too was going to come back or it was going to be Eternatus again because of the, like, pink star in the middle or Megazera aura, which. Or Mega Zygarde. And it's like, none of these Pokemon are ready yet. Right. Also, I don't even think doing Mega. I don't even think Mega Eternatus. I don't even think doing Eternatus two years in a row is also that great. Yet. The complaint would just be like, I, we did this last year. Yu-Gi-Oh Can I just ask, where's Arceus? Yu-Gi-Oh that's. We're still missing Arceus. And people are like, we can't possibly have Pokemon. Bank and Arceus exist at the same time. One of them has to go away. And right now Arceus is away. Yes. But once bank finally sunsets, Arceus can rise into the earth. Pokemon Day 2027. They're going to announce Arceus and go calling it now. But Arceus would be a good Mega Finale. Although it wouldn't match this theme this year, but. No, it wouldn't. But you know what? Arceus would have matched the theme when Legends Arceus came out. You know, they really. They really Tribute the ball on Mega Diance, didn't they? They just gave that to us. Mega Zero Aura would probably be a pretty. Okay, final. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh But they just gave us their aura, so now they gotta wait. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. Good call. Yu-Gi-Oh They just literally handed us Mega Diet. They didn't know what they were doing back then. They didn't. They forgot to milk us properly. They were. They were just like, here's. Here's the Mega right away. You're making it right from us. No, back to the Mewtwo thing real quick. I just. I used my gold bottle cap on my shiny Mewtwo. Oh, Yu-Gi-Oh So that's like, kind of a bummer, but did you get A shiny Mewtwo from your thing. Oh, then I think it's no shiny, so it's fine. Yu-Gi-Oh But Yu-Gi-Oh I didn't get a shiny either. My buddy did, though. My friend got a shiny. My grandma got a shiny. I'd even do mine. I'm gonna wait till September 5th. I got the strange ball. Of course you are. Yu-Gi-Oh To get the strange ball. That'd be so sick. Mewtwo and a strange ball. Could you imagine if it was shiny Mewtwo also with the strange ball color? That would be so sick. Yu-Gi-Oh if you're lucky. I'm lucky. Trainers I got. What do you mean the Times Square event is coming back? How would you ever redistribute that background again? Oh, they could just have an event in Times Square with me. I guess I could just be like, here's a Mewtwo rated Times Square possible background. And I thought they. When it first happened during the. The. I live streamed this Mewtwo event in New York. You can see or you can hear the confusion in my voice when they do Mega Mewtwo wise. The first one, and there's two Mewtwo raids. And then the second one is also Mega Mewtwo. Y. Yu-Gi-Oh And I'm like, oh, one. I thought it would two raids. Two megas. One would be why. One would be X. And I was like, did they mess up? It's. It's still very confusing that, like. And this is also why the one that you got right, Austin. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh It's all, why. What are they doing with X? Do they just not care about X? Is X getting its own thumb something later this year? I bet it does. I bet it gets a new. A Times Square event. That's. Yu-Gi-Oh that's the event. That's when it'll come back and it'll be two X's. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if Japan got its own Mewtwo event, like the Times Square thing, and then they got two things of X. Yu-Gi-Oh Did Japan have a different ad 10 years ago than everyone else did where they were battling Mewtwo in Times Square? Well, 10 years ago, we got Go Fest in America. In Chicago, we all booed John Hanke. I went back and watched that video I posted. It has like a quarter of a million views on my YouTube channel. It's like two minutes long of booing John Hanke. And I actually rewatched it recently. And he comes out and he goes, beautiful day, isn't it? And everyone goes, boo. And then he literally says, let's Hear it for Sunshine. I Goldin remember how bad it was. It was worse than I remembered. All I think is, let's hear it for Sunshine. He had nothing. He had literally nothing. He had to go with the weather. Okay, so anyways, after we all booed John Hanke, which was a beautiful moment in Pokemon Go's history, it was like, two weeks later, Niantic had to do the debut of Mewtwo, which was Japan only inside the Yokohama Baseball Stadium, where there were three raids, and then Mewtwo appeared. And that was, like, obviously exclusive at the time to Japan. Yep. And I don't know who got invited. I don't know, like, but, like. Like anything. In Pokemon Go, things are, like, limited. Eventually they become more available. If not, you know, there's ways to get them or there's trading or, like, I'm probably never gonna see a shiny luchador Pikachu, but if somebody's listening that has one, I will trade you for it because I'm missing it. But I'm never gonna do GBL for that. I just. I just hate GBL too much to, like. Like, life is too short to play something I don't. There's so many other video games I'd rather play than gbl. You could play a classic old video game like Echo the Dolphin instead. I could shiny on a black 2, white 2, before Pokemon bank shuts down. I don't know if this is damage control, though. Feels like damage control, but also like, Pokemon gives poke outside of Pokemon Go. They give max stats Pokemon away all the time. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. So it's like, even if it's, like, slight damage control, it's not that weird for the franchise to be like, here's a free shiny Pokemon. Here's a free perfect IV Pokemon. Here's a free level 100 Pokemon. It's really not that weird. Yu-Gi-Oh but we didn't even have to go to a GameStop to get this Mewtwo. Like, we just had to open the game pretty much. Pretty much that research. If you have not done the research yet, I one-of-one spoil exactly what the steps are, but you can do them in about 15 minutes. It's. Yu-Gi-Oh Very easy have Pokemon around you. But, I mean, you're right, they do give out max stat Pokemon all the time or shiny Pokemon in different various giveaways. It just Pokemon Go doesn't. Right. So, like, it is. It is interesting that they did this, but, you know, it could have been. The reason that I think it is damage control is because it Feels kind of like random timing. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh Why not do this around when the 10 years actually was like it just feel. It just felt very random. Yu-Gi-Oh Like even just like announce it. Like I said. I. I feel like that would have fit better, but this just feels like they just tossed it in here. Yu-Gi-Oh And to be fair, like I'm cool with it. Like background is cool and like I don't mind having a max stat Mewtwo. Like that's. That's awesome. I do feel bad for everyone who, you know, Hyper trained one. I actually did. I didn't. I never finished Hyper training my Mewtwo from last year. So it did not get. You got a time limit on that too. If you don't complete it, then Pokemon bank shuts down even faster. Yu-Gi-Oh Yep. I can't even access bank anymore because I didn't get my Mewtwo fully maxed out. Is it like 365 once you activate the bottle cap like you have to do. It is. Yu-Gi-Oh Yu-Gi-Oh it is. So now I got a Mewtwo sitting at like 12, 15. 15. Because I didn't finish Hyper training it. That's crazy. I probably have some researches in Pokemon Go that are like five years old. It's probably for the strange ball. Probably like battle 10 team rockets or something. Oh, you're right. You're right. I should say save them. You could do what Steve did and you could get someone to trade you a shiny Mewtwo and then that shiny Mewtwo could end up being lucky and 100%. That's true. I haven't tried that real easy. Yu-Gi-Oh that's true. Yu-Gi-Oh And then you trade it to Fire Red Leaf Green. You start getting those ribbons. There's no ribbons in Fire Red Leaf Green. Actually, Explorer Gadget debuts for trainers at level 20 or higher. The Explorer Gadget is a built in feature that attempts to. That attempts to catch Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh you're right. It does attempt that attempts to catch Pokemon by automatically throwing Pokeballs and spinning Pokestops while you explore the real world with Pokemon Go. Not actively open on your device. The Explorer Gadget will only use Pokeballs, not Great Balls or Ultra Balls. While playing Pokemon Go with the Explorer Gadget, you can easily check the summary of what Pokemon were caught, how many were caught, how many Pokemon stops were spun by simply selecting the Explorer Gadget icon on your menu. What if I have a Go or any other accessory paired to Pokemon Go? If you already have an accessory paired like a Go, you can still easily use the Explorer Gadget from The map view when you see the Explorer Gadget or paired accessory device currently active. If you have the accessory device paired with Pokemon Go, activate the Explorer Gadget by selecting it from the key item in your bag. You can choose between the Explorer Gadget or the physical device. They cannot be both active at the same time. Did you guys try this out yet? No, I did not. There is a little note here. If you switch to an accessory device while the Explorer Gadget is active, the Explorer Gadget will stop and you one-of-one be able to use it again until the next day. Oh, I was on my onewheel. Setting this up. Seems not good. No, it was fine. It was fine. I was on a bike path just going straight. Look, when you're on the one wheel, you got both hands free. True. I'm not holding on to anything. I gotta do something with my hands. And then I. And then I heard my tire pop. Wave them around. And then your tire popped. My tire popped. And I was like, well, I one-of-one got time for Explorer Gadget. I gotta figure out what's going on here. I thought I ran over something. Did you? No, I didn't. It was just the. The wall of my tire just eventually caved in because it was so worn. Bummer. Sad. Yu-Gi-Oh And then there's a bunch of blue goo everywhere. I thought I like ran over like a glass of nail polish or something, but then I forgot that I put the blue goo inside my tire because it's supposed to like, if. If you do get like a puncture, a small puncture, the goo is supposed to like, fill it in and harden it. Okay. And that didn't work. Well, it didn't work because the whole wall of my tire caved out because there was just so much wear on one side of my tire. Just how I ride, I guess. I ride funny. I walk funny. So I was literally mid setting this up and then my tire blew out and I was like, well, I guess maybe Bobby and Austin did it. No, because I have the Go plus plus. I didn't bother trying this out. Yu-Gi-Oh exactly. Same. So, Yu-Gi-Oh I just don't know why we use this over the Go Plus. Like, there's no reason. Right. But it is very nice for the people that can't get a Go plus plus because they are pricey. Well, also one less device to carry around to. I could see why you would use it. Yu-Gi-Oh I mean, I was specifically told once Pokemon bank shuts down, the Go plus Plus will be even cheaper on the market. It was the reason. So Pokemon bank shutting down actually seems like a good thing. Yu-Gi-Oh there's a lot coming from this. There's a takeaway from this episode. Okay. It's that Pokemon bank is the reason we're all miserable. They got to shut it down. Things will get. That's how we're getting 3,000 more storage at home. Yu-Gi-Oh they have to shut down bank and then move the storage over. That is weird. Yu-Gi-Oh data centers, they're taking up too much. You got to shut down one service and merge into the other. Hey, speaking of things you'll never get Pokemon Pokemon 30th anniversary celebration Poke citing is the most exciting Pokemon party ever. These are Scopely's words, not mine. Are you Pokey sighting? I see three in the picture. There's like a Pikachu with a pink, blue and then like a purple hat. And by hat I mean like yu-gi-oh, they look like a little bubble gum. Their shirt is cool. Yu-Gi-Oh DJ sound waves. And it looks like the Jigglypuff with the bow is returning. Something about their shirt is weird to me. It's like a little music thing. No, no. It's not the design of the shirt. It's like I know that this isn't the first time Pikachu is worn a shirt, but something about the shirt just gives me the whole, like, Donald Duck vibes. It's like Pikachu with no pants but a shirt on. Yu-Gi-Oh Like. Like, you know, tandem mouse. Very popular. Yu-Gi-Oh But is Pikachu in costume? Usually in a T shirt. Yu-Gi-Oh I'm sure. Right. Yu-Gi-Oh Maybe it's because of the. It's a. I don't know. It's something about it just. It looks. Maybe it's just what? Looking at the shirt plus the wig, I think might be the shirt plus the wig. It feels like it's pants. I feel like Pikachu needs pants because of the shirt and the wig. Let it be free Let me free. Maybe it's a little hot out. Yu-Gi-Oh maybe. Yu-Gi-Oh Most. I mean, sometimes it just has a T shirt, but other times, gotta be the wig too, I feel like, because mostly it's just hats. Yu-Gi-Oh And so the shirt and the wig. Sure. I don't know. I don't know. I think. I just think patch auto looks fine. It's not. I don't know. I'm not that excited about it. I heard that once Pokemon bank closes, then pants will be available.
